So I should be submitting a lot more art in the coming months, mostly from my work at school, in painting and photography classes.

Expect to see more of that apple, [link] which is a major thematic element and visual metaphor in this year's work. It will appear in my paintings as well.

I've got three acrylic paintings on the way, two of which are done and one of which is in progress now, which I'll submit here as a group very soon. After that, I'm starting on Oils, which I enjoy far more, and should yield better results.

Oh and I've got quite a backlog of other people's art to look at here too, which should be good to look through and comment.

Its for my art folio thing, so I only have a couple of weeks to finish it, along with heaps of other shit.
I'm just slogging along at it, its looking not too bad right now, although its very detailed, and i'm doing the whole thing with an HB mechanical pencil with a 0.7mm lead... ouch.
It'll probably end up here on deviantart sometime; I'll scan it before I glue it on my folio.

I got it off trademe.com for the princely sum of $800 or something (princely, no?) which isn't bad considering I saw a new one in the shop the other day for $1800. Considering the poor standard of my photography skills before, I hope I can actually make decent use of it. Its really photoshop that I'm (fairly) good at, but hey, I'll take a kick ass camera any day.

Its going to look so bad, but it isn't my fault: my teachers gave us Andy bloody Warhol as a theme.
Not that I don't like andy warhol, but his work isn't exactly meant to be copied by people who suck. i.e. me.
Worst of all, I'm actually behind on it too; my strategy of never doing what the teacher says has worked well in the past, but I might have to review that.

As for world events right now, there's reeeaaally very little for me to rant about, which is sad. I was looking forward to boring you.
One thing I do find funny though is this whole thing with the space shuttle... I can't really see why they're only just sending people into space again, Just because one of them exploded. People don't stop getting in cars because one or two of them explode. People don't stop using laptops because one or two of them explode. Its just because its so high profile, which is stupid really. we NEED to get into space, and they're holding it up just because a couple more people died. They weren't the first and they won't be the last.

Later, I went to the funeral of a relative of a good freind of mine, which was unhappy event, as expected.
It took until sunday to get a new modem, so I was without the internet for a whole four days. Gaah, it was torture.
Then, I had the weirdest breakup ever: we both realised it wasn't working about the same time, and it died quickly and painlessly. We talk now just as much as we always did. It was bloody strange to tell the truth.
In the midst of all the confusion though, I've actually found time to start drawing something proper, rather than something the art department told me to do.
For some reason, I'm drawing a picture of an old man I found on the internet. No idea who he is, but old people are good fun to draw: they're emotive, colourful and abundantly textured.
Look out for the new drawing, its on the way, about half done, after about 3 hours or so.

Thats my rant over, except for the usual section on world issues, which I'll forget about for the sake of your sanity and non-boredness.

I was getting a bit bloody sick of school. I still have a shitty art project to finish off though, which involves drawing a whole bunch of pictures of myself in different media. This sucks, I hate drawing myself at the best of times, but its the same bloody pictures every time with this. That and collage, my one true foe.
The upside of it being the holidays is that my parents are out all day. Need I say more?
In other news, I found another world issue that pisses me off; this whole thing between Israel and Palestine. I mean, what a shitty war they're having. Its so civil that whenever a civilian gets killed, its all over the news like it matters. They're at war for fucks sake, thats what happens in wars. People die. Its all very sad, but I think we should just let them get on with it, less people would die in the long run.

I love to rant. Conveniently, there's nothing anyone can do about it, because this is MY journal! Haha!
Todays rant is about george bush. He pisses me off, as you are all well aware, but recently he has been getting a lot worse. I noticed on the news today that the UN (we all know who pretty much owns them) have given Iran something like 30 days to stop their nuclear research. What confuses me the most about all this is that America has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, and we can't exactly pretend Bush isn't a religious extremist. The thing is, Iran isn't.
America has been trying to sell a whole load of nuclear technology to my country for years, but fortunately we're officially nuclear free.
I think there is a serious issue of double standards going on here. There seems to be serious international rascism in the UN and everywhere. No muslim or Asian country seems to be allowed even nuclear power, and those that already have it are fast becoming international icons of fear.
I don't really think people will ever change, but at least those bastards could try to pretend.

Sure, we've heard that one enough times before, but I have a new approach on world domination. Being of course my current favourite topic for discussion, religion is the key element that makes my plan the genius that it is.
Many people before have used false religion to try to take over the world, but overall, none has done this more successfully than christianity, but unfortunately for the religion's founders, they didn't live to see it's power and influence come to fruition. The people who have to power to make use of the influence it possesses are all religious people now, and actually believe in God. Thusly, they would not use it's power for what it was intended.
Therefore, I am now officially announcing that it is my intention to become Pope. With such a powerful religion under my belt, who could stop me?
I have more plans for once I am Pope, which I shall disclose in later journal entries. Any opinions or comments on this plan for world domination are appreciated.
