Wizard World Chicago: Attention anyone going, please swing by artists alley and say hello! I will be there with the very talented come buy our stuff! i'm hoping to have a small sketch book with sculpts and things ready for the show. But most of all just swing by say hello and point me in the direction of your stuff so I can friviolusly spend my food money. (who needs food when you have comics!)

Sculpt update: Seriously I have been doing some, I have two comissions on plates as we speak, Wrapping up Kidd Bonzai and Drip Drop. Also a Bust Comission for Tiberius. Unfortunatly a) my camera is out of batteries till peapod delivery today. (yes i am just that lazy) and b) Grandma is coming in to town from Spokane Wa for the weekend and my attention has shifted to getting the house clean.

Personal News: A few of you know (or care) that I had to put down my beloved albino ferret Athena earlier last month after several years of dealing with insulinoma (ferret diabetes), The other day I recived a call from my vets office asking me if i would be interested in adopting a six month old baby ferret. I ofcourse jumped at the chance to add more hilarity to my life. So soon i will spam your dev watch with photos of my ferrets. (they help me sculpt... by help I ofcourse mean lick my feet while i'm working. Steal my rubber tools, abscond with my tinfoil/mesh anything shiney and attempt to get themselves packed in to my outgoing boxes.

Also as stated my grandma is coming to visit from Spokane (where I originally hail from), I'm very excited most know I was raised by my grandparents, and try and get home at least once a year to hang out and torture them. So we are off to see the king tut exhibit this weekend i'm wicked excited for it. *does a little dance*

Entertainment: I heard a rhumor that troy duffy of boondock saints glory has died.... anyone know anything about this? did maybe I not hear something right?

I caught blind bandit on nick and was totally blown away by the kick ass ness of the char. Thus sparking another obsession. I have at least one other confirmed comission on the plate in the form of a bust of a roman shepard (yes roman shepard) From a Furry artist, which should be interesting as I have very little furry art experience, altho I hear its a huge phenom. Most of the artists I have met in that area have been just very kind and ego stroking over the few animal statues I have done.

Tutorial status: I expect to have the next section of the tutorial up soon including the blocking and rought detailing. I'm even going to *gasp* attempt

I am searching for an artist to help me set up some art for my own char Sean in the form of a maquette for display at Wizard World along with my spokes babe being designed by the fantasticly talented (and curvatious) and a Lackadaisy styled irish charmer by I'm not sure yet if I want to put it in contest form or as a straight comission in trade for ither a Maquette or moneys *makes grabby hands*


Sean is the irish hottie that I have had comissioned images of by some of the best on d/a in my opinion did this amazing sean [link] , stunned me with this [link] , who gave him some old school irish vengance and who provided a whole new take on his chains.

Also I feel I have to make some noise about this for all you Lions Tigers and Bears fans. I'm sure you like me were totally bummed to hear that Jack Lawrence would not be finishing the second volume. I was afraid like is so often in comics the heart of the art may fall out of it. Or worse the story may not finish at all... However news is out that the new penciler will be none other than my old friend Paul you know him as the amazing . If you don't know him GO LOOK he has the kind of life and feeling in his comics that I'm afraid is all to often lost in the overly muscled static poses of todays comics. Armed with blue pencil in hand I have watched him for years bring to life a style of animation based comics that breathe (they almost seem to) life and fun in to comics. But enough rambling from me go look for yourself!

Also a few people have asked about the progression of the sculptures, I thought i would let you know, as I work on them I usually post an update, but rather than flood your watch list, I usually just edit the existing image untill its done then post up a new as a final, the old ones get put in to a final progression image and thrown in to scraps. So check in there from time to time if you would like to see some of the assinine mid stages. (i'll post some foil and mesh post they are hilarious)

I really really need to get some business cards made anyone have any good suggestions? Since you know mostly i have a pad of post its and a pen.

I have gotten my first actual comission from . Who i'm really excited to get to sculpt for, I have known him for years now *quite literally* and met him ages ago down in San Diego at comic con, when I was working for Led Heavy. So its very cool that my first foray in to sculpting and creating the art, rather than just soliciting and pimping it has been so heavily supported by the people whom I knew then (gutz and cheeks). I am currently gearing up for Wizard World Chicago where I will be in artist alley sharing a table with the very very (yes pun meant) talented . I'll be putting togeather some small sketch books which will feature not only graphic illustration but also some of the sculpts that I have been working on. (Creators have given approval of course). When you know you need a life. When you find yourself with a set of calipers hanging off your sleeve and a box of crest strips on your teeth. I'm all alone here my bestfriend and family have headed off to ireland leaving me with two cats and two ferrets. and a whole lot of time and four pounds of clay.

I think the worse thing i could have done was to buy enough plaques that i could keep multiple projects going. At the moment I have deconstructed freckle and will be working on a new take on him soon. (highly amusing as hes the one with the most views in my gallery). And some small fun stuff to test a new clay mix i'm working on adding more primo to the block so far i like what i have seen but what remains is how it bakes.

I am currently open for comissions, if you have any questions please check the list below you may find your answer, if not feel free to note me, I check in several times a day. And thank you for your interest!

1. Do you do comissions?

a) I sure do! When I started sculpting I had hoped that eventually I could have a very small buisness going to help smaller based artists be able to have a maquette of their own of their art, or in some cases for limited run reproductions. I'm still learning my way around the sculpting area but I'm willing to take on a challange.

2. Can you Sculpt my original char? or Can you sculpt (insert major cartoon char here)?

a) I sure can, However keep in mind a few things. If you want me to sculpt a major char (ex wolverine, snoopy what have you) Its not a problem but remember this is for personal enjoyment, not marketing. If your looking for sculpts from smaller artists (ex Leigh Youngs Lucha babes, or Tracy Butlers Lackadaisy cats) I do ask that you obtain permission from the creators. I have found that usually they are more than willing to agree in trade for photos of the final work and credit for the original art.

3. What do I need to give you for a Sculpt?

a) Well atleast one good picture of the char you would like to see. The more the better so I can get a feeling of sides and what have you. the more you give me the less I have to make up as I go along.

4) How long does it take?

a) This can be compleatly dependant on the time of year, and the list (if any) of comissions already existing. Usually It takes me about a week per sculpt as I tend to work on them after work and on the weekends. I snap photos along the way and if you like I can send them to you so you can watch me pound a pile of clay in to your beloved. Usually I try and get the sculptures done with in 2 weeks to a Month of order. However this could get slowed down around the holidays and big conventions. So if your trying to make a deadline (birthday, convention, before the seventh seal busts) Just let me know so I can move some things around.

5) How do you ship it?

a) We are still working out the finer details of it but the bottom line is I ship it how you want me to. You can pick which method and I charge exactly what ever it is to ship to me. My recommendations are to go with ups or fed ex 2 day delivery as i have seen less accidents/lost packages and the like.

6) How Much does it cost?

a) Ahhh the big question, Well it depends as my goal was to try and provide one of a kind maquettes to a few people I also have tried to make them of a reasonable price. Most of the maquettes will go between 50-250$ usd. The larger and more complex. the more time/clay and higher the price. Busts will usually range between 50 and 125$, 3/4 and small full bodies between 100 and 200$ Full figures 150 and up.

7) How do I pay you?

a) I do ask for 50% of the total statue cost up front, this helps me cover the cost of clay and materials to go in to the sculpt (pizza... and coffee too) Once that has arrived I begin work on it as soon as I can, I usually snap several photos of the process and send them to you so you can follow the progress. Right before I do the final smooth of the sculpt I will send you a photo for final approval and at that time any changes can be made and the rest of the payment is due. As soon as that arrives the statue is fired and packed up put in the mail in the delivery of your choice.

Payment options are: Money order, Check (allow 10 days for it to clear my bank) and in some cases the first half can be paypal to me.

The bad being ofcourse that I had to have one of my ferrets Athena put to sleep. She was an old girl, but it broke my heart, we thing she had a seriouse stroke and couldn't walk. I was having to feed her from a syringe and I just knew that she deserved a life better than that, but still my kids (ferrets) are my joy and it really breaks my heart to ever put one down. The other two are missing her but still getting around and playing.

The sculptures seem to be bringing in alot of interest and I thank everyone who has take the time to comment, thank you for the watches and such I really do appreciate it and try to respond to everyone. If you ever have questions or want links to some good sights for sculpting just drop me a note.

Seems this last weekend was just f'ed up in all kinds of new and inventive ways, my roomie was sick, which just sucks for her I felt so bad, cause there wasn't a thing I could do but you know make toast.

Sculpting tho is turning out well for me, Its teaching me a new trait I haven't had in a long time, Patience. There is only so far I can get on it at any one time before I stop seeing things that need to be corrected and i'm forced to put it down. Usually depending on the stage thats between 2 to 4 hours. And then i have to sit back and do something else. The one i'm working on now is Peter Parker from Ulimited X Men 41# the pencils are done by my friend Skottie Young.

This is also the first sculpt I have done that I want just for myself, the others while I enjoy them in most cases if the creator were to ask me for them I would give it to them in trade for art. (i'm a bohemian like that) But this one I am just very excited for. I need to get to the art supply store and get some more brushes for smoothing and some other items. But all in all i do alot of it with my rubber tools.

I had started to work on a commentary on the fuckuppedness of the world using the greek gods and multimedia and i even got some of the canvasses glued down with the primer and collage backgrounds i paint on. but then i got side tracked by working on another Sean project.

I have been working on instead on a fairy tale kind of set up. There is the "storyteller" which I suppose in its own way is kind of depressing, hes a mix of arabian nights meets the persian empire. Its about Amir who is an enuch in the great era who is in the company of the prince, and its more about the stories that he tells, like how the stars were hung from the skys for the prince himself. and the story is actually rather sweet, altho it has to do a bit with having to confront his own body's limitations and mutilations... it also has to do with making due with the misfortunes in your life.

I have been comissioning work from some amazing artists. I am very very very hopeful to see amir in the future done.

Also my standby Sean the irish tosser. I'm amused by how he has taken on a life of his own, I have had both vv and rem chan do some of the most fantastic art of him, and hope to see more, I love watching how people interpret his movements, with out knowing much about what time hes from.

i'll tell you this hes a hard drinker, and he is based a bit on some old stories told to me by grandma who not only had a taste for the irish herself, but is a card carrin' member of the Ryan clan.

I learned that being a good person is more important than being responsible.

I learned a bounced check is not the end of the world, but that eventually you do have to pay your CC bills off and you wonder if that burger was really worth the 17$ you ended up paying after three years of interest. I learned that money isn't everything. I learned that if your really unhappy sometimes you just have to suck it up and QUIT. I learned that bless their hearts my parents believe in me. I learned that checking "hispanic" on any legal document means that you will be innindated with only spanish speaking representitives, even if the limit of your spanish is dorito. I learned that I am not as much of a cat person as I thought.

I learned that some times all you can do is hold on for the ride.

I learned that new friends can get you more than old ones. That being friendly for no reason at all can pay off in ways you can never expect. I learned that everyones a little fucked up, not everyone uses it as an excuse. I learned that jaywalking is not ticketed in chicago. Nor does a green light mean its actually safe to walk yet. I learned that you can learn to over come the smell of urine on the train station hubs but that you will never learn to over come it on the guy thats sitting next to you on the train.

I learned that I as just one person, can have a great effect on other people.

I learned I'm not a liscensed beautition and that I should not be allowed near clippers, I also learned that some times.... shit, and or a reverse mohawk happens. I learned that some times good intentions are disasterous, but that you just have to let it go. I learned that in chicago.... even monks get their luggage searched.

Over all through out 2005 I learned that through good, and bad you just have to take life one minute at a time, learn to appreciate the highpoints when they are there and enjoy them. And let the low ones go and don't dwell on those but accept them.

Some times you must simply steer second star to the right.

Well the Happy Joy Joy cookie squad is 15 or so people on the server who go out farm eggs till they get about 200 or so. (not that hard when your level 30 plus) and then go in to ogg and pass them out to anyone that wants them. I have made three gold in tips and been hit on by four undead mages. which is hysterical when you consider i'm on Zephery my very scary looking troll.

But anyway someone asked me why I wasn't selling the cookies and i was like.... cause I like doing nice things for ppl its the holiday spirit. I'm not sure why i felt this needed a whole journal entry, but I figured that the wow fans would find it kind of amusing.

Now lets just say that your not maybe paying enough attention and when you snap the clasp off of the clippers to clean them you grab the one next to the sink and put it on and go back to shaving. keep inmind when you shave your head you usually hang upside down so it doesn't go down your shirt.... now lets just say.... you grabbed the one you use for the sides which is a three and proceed to shave a badger stripe down the middle of your noggin you have one choice as to what to do at this point and that choice is to just shave the rest of it to match because you don't want to look like some screwed up friar tuck.....

so your result is Sinead O'connor. Yeah my hair is like what ever a number three is like a quarter of an inch long or what have you all over now i have done this before but NOT at a professional job that i like very much.... i am PRAYING they understand this was a total mistake. untill then..... i better go find my hats.

and the worst part is i'm supposed to go to xmas at my best friends familys house in two weeks... all i can pray is that my hair grows out so I look just a LITTLE less neo nazi before then...... Oohgod... i didn't mean for this to happen.....

I had been going to start on my anti muse series but I have been preparing for the move next may (i know it seems far away but last time I waited till a week before i moved what a mistake that was!) In the move I came across my old sketchbooks and hard drive and I went through and realized I had alot of chars in my head that had partial stories written for them. I would like to get things togeather but in many cases they were from original rpgs and I don't know if i could get the rights to the other players.

For now tho i'm working on redoing some of the old chars so alot of stuff will be going in and out of my journal. I would really appreciate anyone who looks them over taking a second to comment both good and bad, what could be changed what works for each char. the first from the unearthing was Sean which was a half take on pyro at one point and another on my facination for the old gangs of america. while chicago hosts a HUGE gang history i think over the years its gotten idealized with only the italians. But there was a huge irish population here then and now so i'm kind of looking in to that.

blame it on my grandma.... she had a thing for the irish too.

anyway as I had started to say, I have been surfing around DA for what seems like forever now and have found just so many great artists, the da watch is my friend. I have also realized how small the art world can be as well, i constantly run in to people i have worked for, with or talked on line to its really great to know that the art world is not so big you can't still find old friends.

Whats really weird is I was packing up for my move in may (hey you can never start too early) and i came across just stacks and stacks of sketchbooks. I used to fill one a month and I just filled one from the last two years. I found that very sad that I lost track of my love for art. Well most recently tho i have been feeling more inspired, work is going alot better now that i have a new job, new roomate and a better out look on life.

In about 20 minutes i'm going to officially be 27 good time to get back on drawing.

Also most recently i have had the oppritunity to begin truly collecting some art work from some of my favorite deviant artists and I thank each of them for giving me the chance to own some of their great work. Also i have spent alot of time the last few days surfing around and reaquainting myself with such great work. its all very inspiring.

t-minus one day to nanowrimo but i'm not going to do it this year, not that i have been sucessful in the past it just comes on a really bad month. they should do this in september or something when I don't have three holdiays crunching down and a trip home. Not to mention the only idea i have breeding in my head is Diego my demon who i'll probibly have some illustrations of soon.

Things I never thought I would be doing. 1) crawling around on my hands and knees with a butter knife and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. 2) Sanding the floor with an Altoids box. I am the urban commando.

The reason why both of these things are in fruitation is due to the fact I'm getting ready for my new roomate to move in, and that i'm getting ready for both me and said new roomate to move out in a years time. There are some unfortunate disasters due to the fact I didn't know the box under the litterbox wasn't water resistant and there are some uh stains on the hardwood. Now as any of you with hardwood floors know its a pain in the ass to get out.

This leads me to why i'm crawling around on the floor with a butter knife to pull off the varnish. (for lack of a real scraper) and a botte of hydrogen peroxide which is supposed to help bleach the stain out. Rather than pay a hundred bucks to have it fixed. The altoids box however is a testiment to my ingenuity. After i'm done scraping the crap out of the floor with a butter knife I have to smooth out the wood. Now back home this would have been easy... it would have taken a trip to the grand parents for two small blocks of wood. and some thumbtacks. not so much here... so i'm wandering around the house looking for something small and square that i can wrap the sand paper around to give me a flat surface.

Viola! altoids box, bob Vila would be proud.

Look for new artwork scans in the next two days... when I find the scanner cord to attach to the computer.

If I get paid the money i'm owed this next week i'm going to go buy another pair of tennis shoes for it. the ones i have are just not cutting it I need more foot support. Its been years since I needed a pair of shoes for half running, I used to wear nike airs because they gave me good support but I don't know what the new thing is? Do they even still make them in the old style? I see the open end ones all the time but to me that just looks like another place for me to get mud and dog crap stuck in..

anyone got any ideas?

As for art news, I have picked up a few commissions now lets see if for the first time in a year I can get them done before the night before in which I draw on a caffine induced high.

High note finally weasled an issue of Lions tigers and bears away from my comic shop, anyone know where I can get ahold of 1 and 3 dispite you know that whole SOLD OUT status. Also the artist needs to totally update his website so I can fan it like the mad fangirl I am.

I have most recently been inspired by the animation put in to Keni (bear) from brother bear and the facial expressions of Scar in the lion king. please see the oh so fab who has been a great and oh so amusing insperation with her beautiful drawings.

Over all things have been doing well, I have been working a bit more on my ferret drawings leaning hevily on the work that Erin did for me. he has a very good way with dealing with their expressions. i would put a link but one I can't find the da tag to do that and two.. everyone already has him book marked *laugh*.

I should have some new harry potter works up soon and other josh groban things which I do for a yearly trade.

There is no rubber glove clad pixi sitting in your bathroom pulling out your long clots of hair out of the drain with a coat hanger scrubbing the drain covers with a tooth brush and chugging a gallon of drain cleaner home on her back through the subway while trying to not take out the elderly with a new mop.

Also this magic does not exist on the rhelm of taking out the trash, putting away boxes, or buying new butter.

All of these things are done by a very capable and over worked person. So ... please take a moment and thank your Mother, roomate, sister, husband, wife or maid for cleaning up YOUR crap....

Thank you so much to everyone who has left such wonderful comments in my gallery as of late. I am pleased that even my older work is getting decent reviews and it has kind of gotten a bug in my britches to do more. Recently I have been on a bit of an art drought which for me means only a few drawings a week most of which are not the greatest.

I have started working on my holiday stuff so you will see some fan themed art going up soon. Also my comission slots are open again if anyone is looking for some Sims! art *laugh*.

Two more new drawings uploaded from the old files. The first (robert smith) was just discovered about a month ago when I was going through my old works, I dont' ACTUALLY remember doing this. Sometimes that happens, I find things I did when I was really stressed or really tired and find them months later. I'm pretty sure that this was the last big portrait I did, so its probibly just a year old.

The second one is one of my favorites, its of david bowie, I was very sad that this was stolen. It was in my portfolio when my car was stolen and the portfolio was in the back.

I was showing a friend some older work and i came across some of my portraits. I haven't done them in a while, I mean I still do one or two here or there but they were a bit labor intensive, for a while I was doing like one or two a week and got it down to about 4 hours of work but i do like to take my time. I forgot that it could be so relaxing as well.

Its strange visiting old work, remembering where you were at the time you did that, What motivated you. my portraits were mostly done just to make other people happy, they were gifts, and ironicly thats when I started to turn out my first cartoons, the cartoons got such rave review I decided to try doing more, I enjoy the freedom of cartooning, the play on expression and move ment.

My work is quite often very rounded, dispite my best efforts to square it off, It has an animated look to it, or so I hear. Which I consider a big compliment. I have also been considering putting togeather a sketchbook of my own work as well as perhaps a small childrens story.

Humm... ideas in the morning... i like it.
