It might end up more than one tutorial depending on how big it gets, but I want to show how I'm drawing on the computer since my techniques have changed since my other tutorial.

What I'm planning to cover in the tutorial is:

1. composition - stages the picture goes through to get from stick figures to finished
2. pen tool - how do you use it? what do you need clicked on your computer to make it do what you want it to do?
3. clipping mask - more on this in said tutorial
4. color choosing on a pallet vs color choosing using variants (more on this later)
5. What brushes can you use so you don't have to gaus. blur everything for blending
6. how to change brush sets
7. How to change the color of your line art

And a few other things that will come up as I'm making this thing. There won't be any cloud talk since it's an indoor scene, but other aspects to the tutorial will appear as I compose.

My question to you is, is there anything you want to see? Like how to use a tool that might come up or how to do some sort of selection?

If I can include it into what I'm doing, I will, but I want to make this tutorial something everyone can enjoy.

As for the clouds, I can send you to the tutorial I learned cloud making from and then give pointers on color theory since that tutorial doesn't really go into how to make a sunset/sunrise, just how to make stormy stuff.

After receiving a three month subscription from I came to the realization that the subscription offers nothing that I desire. I am content to browse 24 deviations at a time, I've found that CSS styles are not very vision impaired friendly so there's not much I can do to my journal, and I don't really need to see more deviations as thumbnails when looking at my devwatchlist's submissions.

That said, I have a very humble request. Please stop trying to pressure me back into getting a subscription. Yes, I used the word pressure. I can understand the e-mail I received when my subscription was about to run out. That's a standard practice on websites that offer paid memberships. What is NOT standard practice is interrupting my browsing with a full page ad prodding me to resubscribe when the subscription ran out. Another non standard and rather spammish (but I'm not sure I want to call it spam since it is infrequent) is to send me messages through the notification section of the message center.

I am a smart person. I graduated with two degrees from a reputable state university. I have an IQ somewhere between 126 and 136. If I want a subscription, please have the faith in me that I can figure out that the link stating "upgrade now" must be where I can renew my subscription if I ever so desire.

I am not swayed by such tactics. If anything, and many of my teachers over the two decades I spent in some sort of school environment can attest to this, this type of pressure advertising bombardment always sends me in the opposite direction. I admit I was the kid who didn't get motivated by teacher's giving us candy. I don't get motivated by fliers shoved in my post box for various things. What motivates me is internal and my own desires, which currently cannot and do not involve a subscription.

I know that in this economy where people are reluctant to shuck out the money to have th membership, you are probably suffering a loss in the gains you typically make in a year here at Deviantart. I know this creates an environment which is tempting to carrot and stick everyone that can be carrotted and sticked into getting a subscription. That's business I know.

I just would like to be offered it once and be done with it. I'm not into buying luxuries right now. I'm not into purchasing something that is beyond my means right now.

I would like some respect. The site is already well advertised without assaulting my message center.

Were fanfics getting top Lit showcases with the new display popularity system or what? I mean seriously, it's insulting. I know fanfic is like not realy anything you can ever publish but at the same time it IS prose and last I checked, this type of prose was not art in the same sense as a fanart but in the sense of any other prose type on the site.

Maybe I'm taking this more D: than I should because I AM a writer. I consider myself more of a writer than an artist. It's what I went to university to DO for crying out loud. I mean seriously now, FANART?! D: FANART?! I mean I know DA is notorious for disliking fandom as a general rule, but blatant disrespect?

More likely I'm more what the hell over it because it is 04:13 after all, but I would still feel offended at 16:13 too! Seriously! I mean all the non fandom people out there that might read this, how would you feel if the category you most identified with kicked out part of our contributions for whatever reason?

I mean who looks for fanfiction under fanart anyway? I panicked when I had no fanfic option when I posted a submission earlier and went back and looked at past submissions to see where they were now. I THOUGHT I HAD LOST SOME STORIES I REALLY WORKED HARD ON AND LEARNED FROM D:

So yeah I just got back from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and now am adding to probably the torrential flood of journals about said movie that's invading your inbox.

I loved it. It took a dismal fanficky book and made it one of the better movies. And...snerk....the anime referene was amazing espcially the audience reaction. It went something like...

*a couple people laugh*

*collective pause*

*everyone in the crowd between the ages of say 20 and 40* BURSTS OUT LAUGHING and then calms back down.

The only downside was the chucklehead whose blackberry mooed about eight times during a scene. I didn't realize it wasn't the movie until about moo number four. The pansy lacked the balls to shut the damn thing off when it started.

Other than that it was great and I liked it and Malfoy needs more hugs even if he is still a prick.

So, I haven't really looked at my pageviews for a while now and I just realized that I am encroaching upon 20,000 pageviews.

It feels like just yesterday I was tooting my horn over 500 ;; The years sure fly by, don't they? I can't believe come May 21, 2009 I'll have been here for five years. That's about 4,000 pageviews a year averaged out or so. Not bad really.

What do you think I should do for it? A Kiriban is kinda out of the question given my workload since it's my fifth and final year of university.

What would you guys like to see? I mean this is realy all about you since I certainly didn't multiply myself 20,000 times.

To be honest, I kinda like Version 6. I can get through my updates faster and thinks seem to be running smoother. My only complaint is the complaint I've had since I've joined DA and no one has ever listened to.

It's extremely hard for me to read my update bar at the top of the screen. Due to the unique way my eyes work, using #80978a for text on a #40534a background is near impossible for me to read.

I've said this every single year. I mean simply by lightening the text color to #b3c5b1 would be an improvement.

Right now, as always, I have to do some head tilting and some screen glare and then if I think the blurs look different, I click on them and BAM! I do indee have messages and deviation updates from DA.

Other than that, Version 6 is just a really busy layout that gives a lot of neat features that speed up getting through my notifications once I can tell I have any at all.

Do I ever expect to be able to read that I have DA notifications without hovering over where I think the link might be? No. To be honest, if it wasn't for the hover link saying 1M, 2C, ect....I don't know what I'd do.

I am alive and okay. The tornados touched down East and South of where I live. Actually, where I live during the summer and Purdue both have this like tornado barrier of extreme defense. I mean it's like the storms just go right around us and everything exciting happens to our neighboring towns.

This sucks in winter though because Lafayette will get more snow than Purdue does

I had a fuckload of work to do. Fourth year of college is a bitch and a half. I'm sure I'm going to almost fail something >_>;;

Then when Spring Break rolled around, I had dental surgery. They took off my bridge and removed the dead tooth. I now have a flipper, which is a fancy term for retainer without a wire, but false teeth on it. It was kinda ouchie at first, but it's not so bad now that my mouth isn't as swollen as it used to be.

This week was Spring Break but I got nothing done. It didn't even feel like a break at all actually.

I am so over this semester. Can it be May 15 now?

February 12, 2008 Communism? In My DA?

Come on, what else is the new system supposed to be? Fair for all? A system that would magically mean I get as much face time as someone like the awesome *SilentReaper or ~Quinni?

Seriously, did anyone believe this was possible? The only thing this system could do is just put a different choice few onto the front page and leave everyone else in the snow drifts. It's like what my Russian History teacher talks about when he talks about how Tsarist Russia was like a box of elite and then a much larger box of everyone else, and then when it went to Communism, the box of elite just changed to different people.

So duh, it's not going to work. Communism can never work because there's always going to be people who are favored in the system, and there's no way to make it fair. I think we need to go back to the old system because at least with that, you could try to get yourself more exposure and possibly turn the tide for yourself through your own hard work.

November 13, 2007 On Popularity...

Every so often some popular deviant goes out on a limb and writes a journal about how you too can become popular. They start in and say "Draw this," "Do that" and so forth. I'm here to say that they are missing one essential piece of the puzzle?

If you want to be popular here, you have to want it.

I came to DA and drew whatever the hell I wanted. I ended up friending artists with lots of pagecounts because, fuck, they're good artists. I didn't have an agenda, and I did celebrate various pageviews, but I just thought that was something you did here, and it was a long long road from 200 to 500.

The reason I'm pointing this out is I think that this is a gross neglect. If you don't want Internet fame, you won't get it. To become popular on DA means that you want it. Maybe some people don't want it and their tallent lends them to the popular list, but I'm talking average Joe people here.

Or maybe in the end, it's pandering to the whole instead of drawing for yourself even if the end result looks the same? I'm not sure, but I do believe that if you do or don't want oodle and oodles of pageviews and watchers and so forth, you will or won't get them.

I'm glad to sit in my little corner of obscurity, and very happy I'm about to hit 13,000 pageviews instead of 130,000 or more.

May 25, 2007 I Slept Better at the Dorm ._.

Seriously, brain/body/(sub)conscious, what the bloody hell?! You'd think I'd sleep better in my own room on my own bed, but somehow I slept sounder at college o_o Or my sleep patter is just becomming nonexistent.

So how is everyone? I still have my headache I think I mentioned on here. Also, watch out, chilluns, tenimyu eats your brains. At least the music does. I haven't really watched them.

I need to write. I crave writing, but it's not happening. I need to get rid of my headache first I think.

Now hopefully it won't take me another month to write an entry.

Seriously, people, how many of you think that "I'm leaving" journals are like the best April Fool's prank ever? I mean get a little creativity?

Though what can I really say? I HATE April Fool's Day a lot. Very much. It's a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE day. I'm just glad I'm out of the stage I punch the person who puts the last straw on my back nowerdays.

March 9, 2007 GET FEATURED! Because I can

I was looking at all the angst in my March posts and went weoureoiwurioewu, so let's start March over...

...by showcasing art! Provided, they'll only be links and not thumbnails, but let's do this. Anyone can. I'll put your name down and one or two of your best pieces up. Kind of like the Monthly Favorites only more indepth.

FISHY [link] is one of the highlights of this wonderful woman's gallery. Ookaminokage combines photomanipulation with digital and traditional mediums to come off with a variety of styles. Ookaminokage is also growing and developing, and we can only expect her to continue to grow and improve as well
Rushin on the bench sweater ed [link] isn't the work that I was looking for, but it seems Knotbox has cleaned out her gallery some Her gallery is full of pencil drawings, some original and some fanart. She is yet another artist we should keep our eyes on to watch her development grow.
1 - Introduction [link] has a twist of humor that comes and goes trhoughout DE's gallery. Not only does she stick to traditional medium, but she also dabbles in collaging, and writes. If you are into Naruto, fanfic, and looking for another budding and growing artist, DE is one for you

March 02, 2007 On Comments, Favs, and STFU

Everyone's whining about you everyone s their work and runs off without commenting. Oh woe is these artists who have over a hundread faves and only over fifty comments *tear*

SHUT UP!

Most people who whine their asses off about this usually have a grotesque ammount of waters, commenters, and favers already. So, without everyone commenting, your piece can't make it into the number one spot - Hell, most pieces in the Daily Faves, rarely have everyone who fave comment on their work, and just...shush.

Well why aren't people commenting on your work? Here is where you expect me to be all childish and go "Because you're an ass." No, it's not because you're an ass. It's not even because you whine when the 200 people who faved left 70 comments.

I could go through a list of reasons ranging from "There was no time to leave you a one word comment that you'll only complain about later" (aka "Why do people only give me comments that say kawaii or good job?") or they might not have a grasp of your native language and don't wnat to go look up "Good job" in it.

So, why don't I always comment? I comment on some things and don't on others when I fave and shit. Why?

Because you don't comment back.

Yes, yes, I know with all those comments flooding your inbox you can't possibly respond to all of them, but because you don't respond, I'm not going to bother. I always feel like, "Why did I take the effort to say something more than "Good job. I like it tons " to you if you can't even give a simple "Thank you" right back. The worst are the ones that won't answer questions. If I have a question and you don't have the courtesy to answer it, why would I even post it to your artwork?

I don't know. I guess since I am still in the cult/dark/nonBNF stream of DA I can say these things. I'm lucky if I get one comment outside of my watchers, and I'm lucky if anything gets faved at all.

So frankly, when you complain, it's quite sickening. Take what you get, 9 out of 10 times those complaining get more than those who faved and ran do.

March 8, 2007 On the Subject of Apples

It's been over a year since I updated that fic, and somehow I have gotten more people poking at it in the past two to three weeks than every beore.

I am not interested in writing any new chapters at this time. Whatever you can get your hands on is the end of it all. I'm sorry, but it's been too long.

The reason it was dropped was because of people bitching at me about the writing style, plot, ect...I was tired of listening to it. Now, looking back on the fic, I just really don't feel like writing any more of it.

So please, stop harrassing me through PMs and IMs about it.

February 20, 2007 Shippuuden *splodes*

I watched Naruto the anime part two last night. It was excellent! Very pretty and everything It made me grin and giggle. I liked their added in bits too.

It's too bad they haven't given us Kakashi Gaiden, but maybe they'll save it for a special holiday or say Golden Week even. I'm not sure when May fifth falls. I don't think it's a Thursday, so Children's Day is kinda out of the question.

I want to draw Obito and Naruto o_O; I have a few ideas, but I really should do Spring_Fluff first!

...that my 97. Safety First Outline is gone. I deleted it because I stared at it this afternoon and went "This just...is embarrassing..." So I have a bit of tweaking to do before it goes back up

What can I say but "WOW." Not only are the artwork in these deviations fun to look at, but the humor contained is very entertaining. Is a short one page comic about L when he gets bored It's a must see. Raito's Rant and Matt's Response are compainion pieces. The rant comes before the response obviously. They're both very good and very funny. All Death Note fans will be entertained by these three comics, HOWEVER please note that each page is extremely large and graphics heavy, so they will all take their sweet time loading. July 1, 2006 OST Rambling and such...

So I now am the proud owner of the Death Note soundtrack with the theme ("Dani California" by RHCP) on it too. It's a very eerie soundtrack and some songs almost make me want to cry o_O I recomend it highly ^___^

I'm going on vacation soon, but it's only for this weekend. At this time tomorrow, I'll probably be in a grocery store looking for things to take to Grandma and Grandpa's place. We always bring food with us.

Oh and good news, everyone! I'm writing more Goggles. (Well, if you follow it at least )

(06.13.06) A Cat Died in My Backyard....

A cat died in my backyard the other night (I think it was Sunday?) Well, not really. You see the storm sirens are right outside my window. So here I am about ten at night sitting at my computer when all of a sudden I hear bwannnn...but it was quiet and kind of sour? sounding o_O

So then it periodically did that for two hours outside my window But at least it stopped. It really did sound like there was a cat dying in my backyard.

I don't know what else to say. Bro's got an orchestra camp so it's kind of boring at the house. I have so many drawing ideas it hurts my head @_@ <= DA needs an icon for this face.

I decided to upadte just to show off the most recent favorite

Today is the longest day of the year, and I just woke up at 14:00 o_O I've had a fever and nausea since Thursday, but I feel loads better now. I think I'll be pretty much A-Okay by tomorrow.

I even wrote and posted Chapter Twenty-Seven of Goggles It's short, but I managed to find a direction. I even have the first scene of twenty-eight nearly done. Sasuke is a meany pants ;_;

I need to continue work on Oh Noes L Is Sick!. I actually planned this out. I have about five pages left to do. I'm quite happy even if it looks like crap

Yesterday we went to the time trails for the Indy 500. I LOVE MOTOR SPORTS SO MUCH! 3

And it was historical too! Typically it takes about three or four days to qualify but due to local sucky weather most of this month, they did Pole Day, and all cars ran! o_o We were there for like two hours and about 27 cars ran. It was so exciting!

We're going to the 500 this year too with my sister and her hubby. I can't wait to see her again! I miss her so much. It's really hard having an eleven year difference you know.

Regardless, I'm taking a break on Goggles doujinshi.

Ugh...I feel sick...

I want DA to get back to normal so I can show off my new picture. I'm quite pleased with it, though parts I wish I could take up and redo, but that would get too involved and messy.

I'm rather tired. We stayed up late last night, but it was kinda worth it in the end. I also ran a bunch of virus type stuff on Beast last night. He's now running like a dream now o_O I think this means he's going to bite me though. When he can't run like an ass, he acts like one.

I want Naruto chapter 305 to come out. I want to know what's going to happen with Snake Pervert and I want to know if Shadow Princess is actually going to show his face for once. I think they're taking their sweet time even putting the raw up because there won't be a Shonen Jump next week due to the fact it's Golden Week in Japan.

I GET OUT OF PURDUE ON WENSDAY! I could like die of happiness. As much as I like it here, I'm just ready to puddle for a bit, you know?

I only have one class today, and that makes me happy. Then I have to stuff as many books as I can in my bags to help clear out my room a bit so we won't have five trillion things to move on Wensday.

I can't wait for summer. I can sing and dance in my room whenever I want and just have a good time. It makes me happy.

Anyway, this is longer than I thought it was going to be. o_O I should update the favorites bit and then get ready to go to class.

Anyone enjoy psychotic Gaara and headless Sasuke dolls? o_O You do? Well then here's the deviation for you! A nice little psycotic Gaara chibi thing squeezing a tiny Lee and a tiny Sasuke doll to death. It's rather cute for as bizare as his features are and the coloring is to die for. Even if you're a Sasuke or Lee fan, it's still a nice little cookie you need to check out simply because of the smoothness of the deviation and the creativeness of it as well. You can even hear "fu fu fu" just by looking at it.

My paternal grandfather used to make beautiful wooden eggs when I was very little. When I happened upon 's deviation, it made me instantly think of him and his woodworking (he made clocks and planes and lots of stuf), and it also made me happy because I'm a semi-closet SasuNaru fan

Other than that, today is a beautiful day. I spent some time outside this morning and a bit this afternoon. My ID went through the washer, so it's in pieces and I need to get a new one. My only consolation here is that the magnetic strip was already starting to come off anyway and at least it was my Purdue ID and not my state ID.

This is gorgeous and soft-toned oekaki done on OC. also has a CG tutorial incase you're interested in how this picture was made. The softness and warm colors reflect a deep relationship and also a gentle nature. It's very nice and definitly worth a look see!

Chuunin. I had a sense of coordination but broke it. I think I'd be happy being in the middle of the ranks.

Uh...crush? Nah. People say that they think I'll end up with a Naruto-type though.

No, but it takes a lot to make me cry. Usually if you can tie in a strong emotion (like the comparison pictures when *spoiler* died, then you can get tears...

The only time I cried during a manga was Wish volume four I think....

I should probably be concerned that four of these were high o_o I read their descriptions. None of them were me 100%, but I will admit that I have a little bit of all the high ones blatantly. So tired, but not. THEY HAVE CLOTHES IN STORES NOW *_* Like clothes I want to wear, they've always had clothes, just nothing I want to sport. I got tank tops, a spiffy skirt, and I have to keep an eye out for this one thing that wasn't in my size (damn my broad shoulders).

Regardless, it was productive, which makes me happy.
