Today, plastered all over the news has been the saga of Paul Wolfowitz, the president of the World Bank and former mastermind of the war on Iraq.

He's part of a scandal about a pay package and promotion for his "companion" Shaha Riza, a middle east expert for the World Bank.

Wolfowitz has pleaded for his job before the World Bank council who are strongly considering sacking him, while the US administration meddles in the entire affair backing up Wolfowitz saying that he should KEEP his job after making a massive conflict of interest.

Article (The Age.com)

Thats one of many sites you can go to to read about this article.

Now to ME, it seems like he should know better and that he doesn't deserve a second chance. He's the president of the massive World Bank and he shouldn't have done this and he deserves to be fired!

However, i digress, that is my opinion, i am here to inform you of this issue and, if you feel as strongly about the injustice as i do, give you an avenue to make a difference here. If you don't care strongly enough about it, thats ok thanks for reading!
So if you'd like to sign the petition to sack Paul Wolfowitz head over to
and have your say!
As the title suggests this is a possible series (if i can be bothered/creative enough) of random philosophical statements written on discarded post it notes as a fragmentary record of my life/times/moods/mind/philosophy.

So as the first installment I present:

**DISCLAIMER**
This rambling has not been fully researched, nor am i purporting to be an expert in this field, it is merely the ramblings of a 20 year old guy who thinks there's something wrong with the world and wants to vent and bit and maybe find people who agree with him.

So maybe I'm just in weird moods lately but one news article i saw on sky news at work the other day really caught my attention and riled me up. some of you will probably know the US government recently passed laws relating to the conduction of military tribunals in which it is now acceptable to pass a judgment, possible a death sentence based on hearsay and information garnered under coercion(ie torture). the men and i assume women, to be sentenced under these laws are categorized as illegal forgein combatants (see the US defense department website for more info i believe).

now fair enough these people are terrorist subjects and i by no means agree with them killing people to bring about change, however i do believe they should be at least allowed to have a fair trial in which they cannot be sentenced to death by any random person saying they heard someone say that the suspect was a terrorist. further more, this is a single step on a short road to the destruction of our own civil liberties and right to a fair trial in our own legal system. if my knowledge of the so called cold war communism witch hunt trials is anything to go by, the events which could follow these laws being passed cannot be good. first they prosecute illegal enemy combatants, then suspects of terrorism within our own society, and before we know it any one of us could be accused to being a terrorist(rather than a communist) by any person on the street is we made some passing comment agasint the American government. this seems to me to be a dangerous direction for the American governemtn to be heading in and may lead to our own right to freedom of speech being overruled for "our protection"

so theres some rambling, maybe I'll actually look into this and see what i can come up with but for now, that'll do, lemme know what you think i'm open to discussion to see what others think about this, please be polite i will debate you but i wont flame nor tolerate flaming.

So i figured i should update this journal as I've been back from my holiday for month or so now . I'm back at work and settled into my new spacious house at toowong in Brisbane.

Working on some photos but haven't had much chance to develop any and the ones from the holiday are pretty crap. also working slowly on a new project to do with street art, stickers, stencils, quotes in chalk etc looking at introducing some philosophy and revolutionary feelings i spose you'd say, into the environment of Brisbane. I've become increasingly aware of the screwed up nature of our world today and decided that i cant sit around and do nothing if i feel strongly about this, I've talked to some interesting people about the state of the world and its occurred to me that many people think something is wrong but not many are doing anything. so maybe in the future you'll start seeing my usual shots with some street art mixed in.. we'll see i spose.

Anyway, more shots coming once i get around to scanning some old ones I've been meaning to put up, and get spare money to get my latest roll developed.

thanks for looking, and hopefully thinking too

Hey all,
I recently (2 days ago)ventured into the world of urban photo shoots so i thought i'd sahre my experiences here before i post up piccies of it. So myslef and ~adstantes have ventured to brisbane city once before but never have we jsut walked wherever the wind takes us so to speak(be it private schools or unmakred police stations )

anyway on tuesday we decideed we'd go out again, started with the ususal walk through the city but ended up venturing into the suburbs on the outskirts of brisbane, finding schools, awesomely deserted adn strangely mediteraninan feeling suburban hills and as mentioned above an unsigned poilice stastion ( at least from the direction we got to it by) where a cop got pissed at us for standing on teh driveway with cameras. woot

all in all seemingly not very interesting unless you wher there, however for myslef it opened my eyes to teh good times you can have walking aroudn places you've never been fore jstu taking photos and really looking at things rather than jsut flying by ina car. or else in the palces you'd never get to cause you stick to main roads and such. it's jsut brought to mind fragmetns of lord of the rings:

"The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

and

"Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun."

i think it sums up what i've kinda gotten into phtoogrpahy for, and why i've gotten into arahcoelogy, walking the less trodden path, finding little bits and peices of information adn memories half forgotten that make you look at hte world wiht a new wonder adn the way taht light, colours, heat and cold and a good firend by your side can enrich an everyday experiecne like taking a photogrpah and give a life meaning beyond the everyday adn mundane things, work, uni and love.

anyway from blog to philospohy woot
enjoy

Well I've been back from the holiday of doom for a while now, just been slack tho so no journal until now . Back at uni adn loving it, learning to age and sex bones, looking at sediments and studying the conecpts behind rosary beads, as well as findout out about how historical archeacology is, and i quote my lecturer here:

"I like to think of historical archeaology as a SLUT: It'll take whatever it can from whereever it can to acheive its ends."

So funny but so true Anways i've got this environmental aracheology text that is te most boring peice of literature to do with archeaology.. mainly becuase as yet it's had about 2 pages of text on arahceology andi've read 5 chapters. grrrrrrr not happy. i've also been seriously drunk since my last journal, something I hope never to reapeat on such a scale again. Also, some advice, dont play drunk drinking games with people who cheat, its BAD when your reckless for whatever reason. I shoudl probably go have a shwoer adn do some work now and eventaully i'll go throguh my photo's from canberra and post up some of the better shots from teh 9 rolls of film and then hopefully get some more developed and continue posting. ohh well, keep checking back there will be some good stuff soon i promise
A pretty good album from what I've heard so far, different to my usual tastes but quite good.

Reading:Walking the Bible - A Journey by Land Through the Five Books of Moses.
A very interesting book written by a jewish journalist that takes you through his journeys in the Holy Land as he tries to get in touch with the Bible(Torah etc). Travelling ot many aracheological sites and interspersed with many biblical passages i'm finding it very enlightening both professionally (i'm studying to be an aracheologist) and spiritually (I'm anglican now jewish but its all the same stories in teh old testament) Recommended if your interested in the middle east, archaeology or spiritaulity, particularly Christainity, Judaism and Islam.

Watching: Phantom of the Opera.
Since i was a kid i've loved Phantom - my parents are fans and i grew up with the music blaring from LP's - and this movie is pretty awesome. Not the best ever but they've pulled of the musical parts wonderfully and its a great story. Some great momments, like the chandelier rising back to the cealing, pulling back the dust of ages to the rousing phantom of the opera theme.... words cannot describe. I highly recommend this movie if your a fan of Phantom.

Mood: Quite Relaxed and a little tired with a hint of aches and pains from the cold.

~-~-~-~-~

Exams are finally apon me, in a few days I'll have my first one, on the Rise and Fall of the Mayans, and within six days they'll be over... Wow. The semester is over and i'm half way through my degree. Awesomeness!

My issues from my last journal seem to be resolved as much as they will be for the momment so i'm happy about that. But of course each week throws more challenges my way and i'll have to keep on ploughing through everything goign on until I can finally have a few weeks off in canberra to spend some time with my beautiful girlfreind, relax, checkout ANU for my Post graduate work and take some nice photos for you all to show up ~adstantes .

Australia is goign quite well in the world cup it seems, they owned Japan the other night 3-1, all 3 goals they scored in the last 8 minutes! Hopefully they'll keep form and wont get thrashed too badly by Brazil. Working at an Itlaian coffee shop certainly gets your interest in soccer sparked i can tell you. The atmosphere in our little shopping center about the world cup is simply amazing considering soccer has never been too popular in Australia. Hopefully this heralds a nice change in soccers fortunes here, and why wouldn't you like a sport that doesnt end in fist fights and who's players aren't near constantly embroiled in some scandal or another. Well thats my opinion anyway.

Mood: excited!
Listening to: silence
Watching: recently watched "Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" which was a very moving film, I recommend it.
Reading: Magician by Raymond E. Fiest, lent to me by my great friend Urz, programmer of doom.

So! Another journal I hear you ask? Yep another one!! After an interesting discussion with my talented friend ~adstantes last night it's now time for the first Quasi-annual Drunken* Vomiting Awards Journal!

*denoting vomiting as a result of consuming alcohol rather than just vomiting at the same time as being drunk.

The Award winners will be drawn from my varied and wonderful group of friends, known affectionately as the Nerd Herd, for an unknown reason, probably having something to do with a large percentage of us being nerds and I believe a certain person’s younger brother had a hand in the name as well. But enough on the origins of the name, onto the Awards!

Firstly, some background: My friends and I attend and host a few parties now and again, particularly last year when many people where turning 18. Of course it is inevitable that at any one party someone would end up drinking too much and stick their head in a toilet. You’d be surprised at just how many places the members of the Nerd Herd have managed to vomit!

Categories and their winners are as follows and nicknames have been used when possible - back-story will be provided merely for its humorous value.

Projectile Vomiting

Winner: My Dearest friend Spider who, while vomiting into a toilet proceeded to projectile vomit onto the walls, ceiling, floor and several other very hard to reach places within said toilet - such as a magazine holder which is at very least a metre above. The hands down winner of this category.

Vomiting in Most Interesting Place

Winner: Raging Eyeball takes the cake for vomiting in the most interesting place, and getting to clean it up in the morning. The freezer! Raging Eyeball wins the interesting vomiting category by vomiting in a freezer! Nice one Harrison.

Action Vomiting

Winner: Private 'Chipmunker' Taylor of the Royal Australian Reserve takes the prize for Action Vomiting. In this complicated entry Chipmunker managed to break a light bulb before running running half-way up a driveway, falling into a garden and rolling over a retaining wall before vomiting at the base of said wall.

Dainty Vomiting

Winner: Unfortunately I’ve reconsidered this prize as the person who won would kill me if she found out I posted it on the internet.

Gutter Vomiting

Winner: ~adstantes takes the cake for this one. After a heavy night of drinking Kilkenny beer and red wine, he produced a truly disgusting display of gutter vomiting while walking between a friends house and my own.

Destructive Vomiting

Winner: My sometime nemesis 'Puddle Duck' takes the prize for this one with her display of 'food poisoning' where she vomited all over the floor of a rented house while on holidays.

Most Normal Vomiting

Winner: My great friend Urzumph I believe takes the prize for this one with a completely normal display of vomiting into a toilet, harmless and disappointing.

And Finally!
Most Well Deserved Vomiting

Winner: After sculling a plastic cup of full of rum, when already drunk, 'Fat Tony' Smith wins this final award with his well deserved vomiting after a truly stupid display of drunkeness for the measly sum of 5 dollars!

Well that’s it for now, my apologies to anyone offended or disturbed by this, it seemed a good idea at the time but something tells me its actually quite weird. Ohh well have fun and vaffanculo!

Continuing my 3 stream journal ramblings i'm back to tell whoever cares (ie ~adstantes ) about my life since my last entry.

i'm back at my old job which i'm loving, greatest place to work on earth and i'm learning more italian now which is awesome plus i'm now back at uni studying archaeology whihc is also excellent as i love it more than i love my job . doign some interesting reading on reconstructing past environments from pollen at sites, letting archaeologists find out about chancges in the ecology of areas over time and how humans change this ecology.

also i've got myself a 2 gig ipod nano, yeah i'm a yuppy and one of the sheep who follow apple aroudn but noone really has anythign as good as the nano and while its expensive i've decided its only money and i've been usign it alot which is great. also i've foudn some new artists particularly colin hay (lifeline overkill beautiful world and my brilliant feat are very good), josh radin (closer is the only song i have as yet but its good), cary brothers(ride is a good song) and the shins, whom i've known of for a while but got an albumn recently. these are all from garden state/scrubs which are excellent, GS being a movie by zach braff the main character in scrubs.

finally i've found alot of little thigns are makign me smile lately, probly cause its a great time of year when its windy and raining , both excellent weather types but also alot of other little things have become fairly exciting i spose you could call it. probably cuase i'm extremely close to loosing my grandmother whos in and out of a coma after having a stroke several months ago shes taken a turn for the worse and i think this has brought my life a little mroe into focus as well as solidifying my faith a little, i've learnt in the last week the hail mary adn glory be and find myslef praying more than i usualy would, i dont go to church much but and still a chrsitian. anyway enough of pouring out my soul to anyoen who wants to read it but it feels good to get it off my chest a little.

now a blatant rip off from ~adstantes's journal
Book:
The silmarillion by tolken, an excellent creaion myth and hisotyr of the elves adn orgins of the men of middle earth, recommended to all tolken fans
Music:
Currently dark tranquility: cathode ray sunshine but BT: never gonna come back down (from teh gone in 60 seconds soundtrack) is an awesome song i've been listening to alot lately.
Mood:
tired yet happy

Well fable has got to be one of the best RPG's out there for PC atm, dont confuse this with fable for xbox, they're the same basic game but i will be refering ot fable the lost chapters (pc version, more content etc.) from now on as fable.

The game is beautifully crafted, some people would say that all the loading is annoying but i find that the regions used in the game to break it up for an xbox are very effective, you still have the massive world of somethign like diablo or and mmorpg like asherons call or WoW but the breaking up of the areas lets the developers create detailed and rich environments in which you can immerse yourself. Some people are still going to say that it sucks and that it shodulnt have to load yadda yadda but once you play it you hardly notce, it takes long enough beetween loads that they arent a issue, plus loading times for PC are excellent. Everything is customisable: hair, beard, tatoos (you can even create your own tattoos). You can get titles that the villagers will call you by, you can use a variety of expressions which people will respond to and the range of armour is excellent also, from a light colour simple robe with or without hood to a complex blue and cream wizards robe which makes you more attreactive to people or a dark leather suit of armour which scares the villagers into submission. You can woo female villagers also and eventaully marry, buy a house and even rent it out. Quests are plentiful through both the story line, the guilds general quests and ones you pickup on your travels that you can loose yourself in for days. Demon doors scatter the landscape making you perform and action or fullinng critera for them to open and let you into the treasures inside. The overall storyline is complelling and you relay choose your own path through the world be it evil or good, or somepalce in between. You also have a range of skills to use, hand to hand, magic (will) and ranged combat and any combination of the three. For example you can start off with some basic lightning, use the battle charge "magic" to charge into battle knocking over your foes and then finish off with some swift blows and a finishing move.

As i go through and find mroe stuff i'll post it up hopefully. Overall an awsome game perfect for anyone wanting a good RPG where you can craft the entire world and perfect way to loose yourself immersed in a rich fantasy world 10/10 highly recomended purchase

Dont you jsut hate those people who go to parties every weekend jstu to get drunk fro 4 hours straight then rope there "friends" into waiting for 4 horus to take them home so they can get compeltly pissed and make dicks of themselves. fair enough its there choice i'm able to accept that a little more but the way they just rope their friends into staying for 4 hours to take them home again seems a bit selfish to me, if the firend can accept that they want to drink and even want to go teh the party themselves you'd think the other person coudl realise that that person might NOT want to drink and therefore might nto want to stay for four hours jsut to take them home. yeah there freidns but still a drunk firend isnt the best company in alot of cases especailly when they might end up pukign in your car, wastign yoru petrol, and wasting ther entire night waiting for you once they've had enoguh of all teh otehr drunk people around. *sigh* forgive my spelling i'm just havign a good ole rant about someone whom i will never understand and is IMHO a selfish person to the bone, pfftt are you coming to the party? cause me adn my boyfriend wanted a lift hoem once its finished, we wanna stay the whoel night and get competely pissed, never remeber it adn do really stupid things so we thougth you'd be able to take us hoem cause you dont drink anything, kthxbye /rant i might write some more later,
