Katsucon was... pretty cool.
Not really the best one I've attended, for a few reasons.
- There was a horrible, horrible attendance cap that made it impossible for Claire and I to get in on Saturday. We got in the registration line a half hour before it even opened to get in today.
- It was in a different hotel than usual. It was small, and kinda crappy, and COLD. CON HOTELS SHOULD NOT BE COLD. THINK OF THE YOKO'S. And Rin's and Meiko's, as the case may be. >:
- Since we went on Sunday, there really wasn't anything to do other than buy stuff in the artist's alley and merch. room.
But it was also pretty AWESOME because...
We met *sadwonderland!!!
By a kind twist of fate, we met one of her friends, then her through her. (They were both super nice omg I AM FANGIRLING SO BAD RIGHT NOW.)
She wasn't selling any art today, though, unfortunately, but she gave us each a free signed sketch from her sketchbook!
We also took a picture with Tiny Crab for his fan adventure.
And got a hug from her. ;u;

And early in the morning, the band they hired (unbeknownst to us) were all "SO KAWAAAIII" (it's strange- when real Japanese people say it, it isn't annoying) at Claire and I and took a picture of us. I FEEL SPECIAL. MAKE IT STOP. ;;
I also bought some art from other people, earrings, food.... food. Oh, and a cell phone charm.

I bought him a rose. With TJ's money.

So, originally I was going to go as Miku Hatsune. That kind of failed because mom and I waited too long to order the costume, and realized the only costumes I approved of were all located in China.
Instead, we ordered a Rin costume from Canada (I wasn't going to be Rin at first because I didn't have a Len) and I e-mailed the lady selling it asking when I would most likely receive it, mentioning I needed it by Saturday.
Friday. No box. No reply. So I'm freaking out man.

They got worse.

Dad is going to be shipped off to Afghanistan for nine months sometime in July. Before then, though, he's gonna be traveling around the states taking courses and learning all the stuff he needs to know starting late February.
I'm... well, I'm pretty upset, as you can imagine.
He went to Iraq for only six months when I was in sixth grade, and that was pretty... pretty shitty, really.

My little brothers found out about five minutes ago.
The youngest took it the best. I don't think he's cried yet.
Eric of course pitched a fit and didn't even let dad finish explaining.
Golly, I sure do love that kid._^sarcasm

But there's been talk of getting a webcam so we can talk to him while he's there.
And my Grandma's said they're gonna help.
So it might not be all that bad.
Of course, I say that now, but when he leaves...

With the characters fighting and all and the rounds and KNOCKOUT BATTLES YEAH.
TOURNAMENT CONTEST YEAH.
So I've always found that they looked like a lot of fun.
If I were to start one...
would y'all join in?
I'd accept one-shots, animations, comics, and writing, too!
But I'd need a lot of people to try out, too.
I'd say maybe 20 contestants would be good, but I get the feeling I won't even get that much. |D;
I would also need a couple judges.
And the prize would probably be... art. u___U;

- Woke up hour/half-an-hour or so before alarm went off
- Somehow managed to get an entire row (meaning two seats) to myself on the bus
- Snarfed down lemon filled donut provided by teacher
- Slept two hours
- Woke up and bought twizzlers and a mocha
- Watched Kung-Fu Panda
- Was dubbed Mantis (by Virginia, Spider-Man, and Esette)
- Actually answered to new nickname
- Took a tour through the MoMA
- Bought myself a Munny* in the MoMA gift shop and some fancy bouncy balls for my brothers (they sparkle!)
- Ate a dirty water dog for lunch. Mmmm~
- Visited the Frick
- Got yelled at for sitting on one of the stairs, leaning on the wall, and sitting criss-cross applesauce on a bench by the security guards
- Bought a new 'everything book'**
- Took a tour of the Guggenheim
- Got yelled at for skipping in the Guggenheim (SECURITY GUARDS DO NOT LIKE ME)
- Hopped back on the bus and slept through Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the beginning of Iron Man
- Bought dinner with only six dollars left, which meant a soda and scone from Starbucks, but Virginia bought me a sandwich, too (NEW BEST ART FRIEND <33)
- Dozed through the rest of Iron Man and The Hulk
- Home time!

I'm feeling kind of bleh again.
But Mom bought me the first season of Freakazoid.
So that kind of evens it out. Kind of.

I'm kind of sick of people.

My dream last night was weird again. And there was an indoor zoo with all these prehistoric animals and everything was really yellow. There was also another big grass field.
I don't even know. :c

There're some thieves hangin' around my neighborhood nowadays, I guess.
They stole stuff from both our cars, which were parked in our carport and driveway, not even on the street.
Plus the person/s that stole from us had the nerve to leave everything open after they were done.
And some houses down the way got some stuff stolen. I don't know what all, but I do know the folks were out when it happened, so no one was hurt.
God, I hate people.
It's kind of scary when you don't feel safe in your own home.

And did anyone see the Avatar finale? I only got to see bits of the middle and the end.

See, I had him hold onto all my Pokémon on his Pearl version (I mean ALL my Pokémon from like the past few games I've played) and then he let his games get stolen.

I've been having weird dreams again.

So the first one was kind of really hard to remember.
It almost looked like the mid-west to west? Lots of yellow grass and few trees and a very very blue sky.
Again, I don't remember this one very well, but at one point ~suigincard just appeared at my door all "LET'S EAT SOME ORANGES DO YOU HAVE ANY ORANGES??"
So we ate some oranges.
And then we went into this huuuge field with these kinda pine trees at one end and chased dark blue trucks and this kangaroo-cat thing that had stolen my laptop.

And then I had three different dreams last night.
I know one had to do with pasta and.... vegetables, I think.

I'm happy and sad at the same time.
'Cause I mean, school is the thing that gets me out of bed and washed every morning, and there are so many people that I really only get to see at school, anyways.
So yeah, I'll have oodles of free time, but that will probably be spent lazing about the house. Which gets pretty boring pretty fast, despite what I tell my parents. c:

I'm baby-sitting my brothers for most of the summer, I think.
Ew. That means I have to go to the pool with them. DDx

Exams are also this week. Eeek.
And the summer reading looks pretty rad. The required reading is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Has anyone ever read this before? Good or no?
And we also have to read another book, but this one we get to pick from the school-approved list.

So I chose The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story by Richard Preston. It's about a laboratory outbreak of the Ebola virus in Reston, Virginia. And apparently it contains graphic descriptions of the disease, which is bad, I guess. -reading from the list's short description-
I'm actually pretty interested in diseases and stuff, and I've sort of wanted to be a nurse like my mom for a while now, but I'm too susceptible to illnesses and do not handle other people's body fluids very well. .___.
(My dad's also making me want to joint the military a bit. xDD; )
But if I don't end up reading that, I'll probably read one of the three books we already own. .___.
Those being The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, Three Cups of Tea by Gary Mortenson, or A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I got that last one for Christmas this year from Gramma Wilma.

This place os boring and lonely. It's been a day and a half and I wanna go home.
Merfff headache.

So we had a big fancy almost-picnic yesterday. It lacked deviled eggs. -sadface- :c

Well, my grades were not-so-good-like-at-all last quarter, as you probably know.
And then.
We get huuuuge projects in History and Biology.

Saturday evening:

[edit] Apparently the day I forgot my sketchbook in class (in like, the first quarter) one of the students in the next class found it and really liked my art. They liked it so much they decided to trace some of it to keep. :/
Ugggh.
My art teacher tried to protect the student by saying stuff like 'oh, but they're such a fan of you!' and 'her English isn't that good, so I don't think she understood to begin with'.
Bullshit. Just because you can't speak the language most widely used here doesn't mean it's okay to take someone's art and claim it as your own.
Because she did claim it was hers at first, then finally confessed.
I don't think she was even punished.

Well, I guess her maximum punishment is that she's being graded on her prints and her prints alone... which makes her grade drop, yes....

It's in the actual Art Room.
See, we're carving and printing linoleum blocks.
And we're into the actual printing now, so one day I'm looking through the tub of dry prints and I find something that looks familiar, but I know I did not carve it.
So I snag the two prints I found and start looking through my sketchbook, and lo and behold, something I have not posted EVER (I also showed it to only about 6 people..?) is sitting there, matching this print in everything but size and craftsmanship. There was also a poorly done background thrown into there, too.
(Good God, the print was HORRID which only makes it worse.)
So's I show it to the teacher, along with the original, and she marks the corners and holds onto them.
We haven't caught the perp yet, but we will!
