When I joined deviantArt originally, it was because I thought it would be an interesting site on which to network and keep some of my writings that I had no intention of publishing. Then I forgot the password and forgot about deviantArt for several months.

One day, while rummaging through some papers I found the login and password to the site. I logged back in and posted a few photos and a couple of pieces of poetry. I got little to no response on my photos, so I removed most of them, but some of my poetry people were actually commenting on and adding to their favorites. I was happy to have some sort of feedback other than my old writing group, whom I no longer write with.

After a while, I came to realize that the literature community on here was very expansive and had many different minds working to create many different pieces. But what surprised me was that the literature community was very underrated. Many people had tried to fix that and it made a difference in small circles. So I tried my hand, recently at creating a group that does nothing but feature literature artists on a daily basis. Within a month it had almost 300 watchers and close to 9000 page-views. One would think that would equate to more people watching the artists that were featured and ing their work. It didn’t. I am not sure what those watchers are doing, but they are not doing what I hoped they would.

Which brings me to the reason for my rant. Recently I have been getting less feedback on my personal pieces and less s. I am not sure if the quality of my work has gone downhill, as no one has told me such. I hoped to use deviantArt as first a means to make myself a better writer, but without feedback, that is impossible. The Poem

PTP: Childhood



The shiny red balloon floated through the air,
whither it goes, it has not a care;
a breath of breeze, now it's over there.

So goes the life of a child,
innocence shining within bright eyes;
wistfully playing, so full of the wild.

Now this shiny red balloon frolics in my mind,
leaving echoes of untainted laughter behind,
dancing in curlicues of spiced apple-wine and childhood love.

On I go into the storm as blissful memories guide my steps
and the music of naivety charms my ears,
the grace of its floating pressing me onwards.

As the years go by I remember all the things I miss,
like my mother's homemade soup and bread,
oh the times of innocence and simplicity.

When the sun danced in my eyes and kissed my skin,
when I played ladybugs in the garden and sang songs of Mary Sunshine
when life was easy and sweet, and full of treats;

Everything's changed now,
the fairy tales of yesteryear beg pardon of reality.
I can see the world for what it truly is without all the flowers and gumdrops
