I want everyone to feel peace and love and moments of happiness this year.

I have some of the best most understading and loving friends and family. For years I struggled in a very uncomfortable, unhappy, hurtful situation. Then I woke up and ended it.

Now here I am. The world feels so open and full of possibilities. After such pain....it's incredible and freeing.

I have prayed every day to be on God's path, to be taken to new places, to be alive. It's beautiful.

Right now until her days off I'm doing chores around the house for her.

Sadly she has a 1997 Dell computer with Windows 98 and 33K dial-up internet. Solitaire makes this computer crash. I'm not kidding. I can't get it to work. Oh well I guess I should be grateful she has a computer and i-net at all!

To make the i-net run a little faster I turned off the loading of pictures, vidoe, and sound. So until I get back to my brother's DSL I will not be able to view or comment on new artwork or post any of my own.

I apologize for this. I know I'll be missing out until I head back East. Oh well.

Now....tomorrow night I'm taking a class on ghost hunting. I don't believe in ghots as in the spirits of the dead, but I have seen things.

Wednesday at 2 AM I get on the Greyhound to AZ where I will see my mom for the first time in almost two years. Most of the time she'll be working, but I'll get to see her the evening. Since she has to work I'll be there for two weeks.

Sadly due to moving into a new apartment (more expensive) I have to quit the art co-op, but at least I had some exposure there.

On Nov. 1st I leave for AZ for two weeks to visit my mom and her husband. I can't believe I can take that much time off. We'll see how it goes.

Now for the real gist of it all.

I'm a little mystified at my lack of feedback on "Lady Noir". Is it making you all uncomfortable? Too bad. You know we only get one life and we should all take chances within the realm of things that don't hurt others. And frankly no matter your age or size or gender I think the human body can be a beautiful thing.

So I appreciate the comments I did get and the favorite on that one. But I'm disappointed because I thought it was sort of a cool piece. Normally I would never be so revealing of my feelings on a piece or really on anything. In fact I'm disgusted with myself for even writing this, but I'm really curious about the whole thing.

Maybe you all want total nudity and are pissed at me for not giving it to you. Well my brother watches me on here so I think I won't be going to that land on DA. Maybe if I somehow magically become Dita Von Teese's trainnee....

The past few weeks I've been preparing for the musical walk through haunted house with the Imagine Foundation. I play a dead 1900's floozy and sing a lovely song about my demise. The Foundation managed to get an empty house built in the 1830's for the setting. Downstairs is a massive art gallery/snacks/ waiting room and upstairs the tour guide leads everyone through. Each room has different ghosts that sing about their death. My brother wrote the music and script and it's somewhat based on Disney's Haunted Mansion. Can I just say my brother is a genius.

My art will be on sale at the Haunted House. So far we've sold hundreds of tickets (it's a fundraiser since Imagine is non-prof) and I'm hoping to sell something to all those potential customers. We'll see.

Tonight is our first dress rehearsal and the show starts Weds. Whew.

Five galleries open in downtown. Full of art, but most importantly of people responding to the works and wanting to view them.

Delightful.

Four inch heels and the most glamorous 30's inspired black and white dress clothes I had. Champagne. Guinness(es). Vodka Tonic, Red Wine. Needless to say I enjoyed myself tremendously.

I helped the new gallery, the co-op with some minor painting, cleaning, sanding and the like. It was so transformed by the hard work of so many people.

This morning I took an acrylics class with Berry (Mandot) Messer. But I'm reaching a point where I don't really believe I can improve artistically without classes. There are so many things I don't know how to do and it's because like everything else you need to learn art. My husband suggested I take some actual college classes, but I want to finish my major writing project first and use the degree I already have.

Also I've been asked to consider selling my artwork at a new artist's co-op that is opening in town. John if you're reading this before I tell you in person then consider yourself asked by me to join in the process. We'll talk. heheh.

STAINED GLASS! Yes, stained with my blood that is. I'm taking an intro to stained glass course at a new art shop here in town. And so far I'm the only one that has suffered a cut. Three so far. You know I just really say God Bless J-town because there is ANOTHER new art gallery/classic movie lounge opening. Yeah, John you're gonna love that. (maybe I should just have configured this entry as an e-mail to you, eh?) So we have like FIVE art galleries in town now or soon to be opened.

I'm also going to officially out myself as a Freelance Writer. I've added up how much I've made in my writing so far and it equals about a month's salary, so I figure that is good. I'm trying to organize a writing workshop here in town for kiddies, but we'll see what happens with that. I wish we still lived in the days when an artist/writer could have a rich sponsor in the nobility. An unusual looking (handsome in my book) rich sponsor..........

My brother's art foundation ran an art festival at the same time and my photography was on display. It got some compliments, but several people said I should have put up my phone number to sell it. I just didn't want drunk people calling my cell at random hours....

I ran an old time photo booth as a fundraiser for the art foundation. We had costumes and my camera does sepia. Luke (my brother) has an amazing printer and it printed pretty much Kodak quality prints!!!!!! Raising money for the foundation was gratifying and I get to take free art classes when they have visiting artists, but a secret selfish part of me totally wanted to keep the money...

In other news. The lovely Robin, or artsaves, sent me another beautiful picture. You guys should totally buy one. Check it out.

My sub ran out, but I don't have a lot of money so I'm going to let it remain dead for awhile. I've got to get out of credit card debt and I want to go on a really close two day vacation to a Ren Faire in August. I'm so glad my husband has a good job now, but it still kind of sucks because he's saving to buy a piano and I'm saving for the ren faire and we have to get rid of our college credit card debt. I just thank God we can even afford to do all that.

It was from that one action that my interest in art went from my usual visiting galleries and doing art for fun with friends to something much more serious. Artists are a part of my family. My aunt is Linda St. John a successful fashion designer and gallery artist in Manhattan. My mother has spent her life doing watercolors and winning local acclaim. For me though I never considered that I could be or was maybe even already an artist. DA has greatly inspired me and encouraged me and looking at the wonderful pieces that everyone puts up on here makes me feel very alive. Anyway I'm quite grateful for that.

I'm also extremely grateful for my husband. After I spent the last five and a half years working several jobs he has taken on the responsiblity of working full time so that I may care for my ailing grandma, my dad, and my own sanity by doing art, volunteering and working part time. Yeah it means we don't have a lot of extra money but at this time in my life that's okay.

Well the bottom line is that without all of you on DA, really DA itself, and my husband I would not be in this show this summer and I would be a much more miserable person instead of being just 'happily depressed'. ehhehehe.

I miss the internet, posting on here, talking to people, but I often use it as an excuse to avoid real life. When I have it on demand I remain online for six to eight hours or more a day to the detriment of everything else, most especially sleep. In college I had a full on internet addiction and sometimes I skipped classes to play Diablo...

But why most the internet dominate life so much? I sometimes find magazines from when I was in highschool (just seven years ago) and there are no websites listed for anything. It blows my mind. Part of me thinks life is so much better with internet and part of me thinks it is so much worse. Being on the internet appeals to my selfishness, my self-absorption, and allows me to communicate with others without having to see them or hear them and to produce what are essentialy sound bites rather than true reactions or engaged conversation. The internet is my mask and although I chose not to use it to strike out cruelly at others, many people take that very mean road and do so gleefully.

For all the bad I could say about it and do, though, I also love the fact that I can talk to people so easily, but mostly I think I use it, again, as an excuse of avoidance. And don't even let me get started about the multitude of bad things I can (and do) get up to while cruising around and entering choice words into search engines. There is no such thing as a fully recovered internet porn addict, but a repentant one, perhaps so.

Meanwhile in real life my dad was in a horrible car wreck several weeks ago and I'm dealing with the fallout of that. He's been in a wheelchair for quite awhile and he has not been home in weeks. He's staying in the Capitol at his girlfriends. Of course the car (which I gave him) was totalled and this has necessitated many trips up to Spfld to bring him clothes, bills, do his errands between the two towns, etc. I'm just grateful he's alive. He actually hit both airbags in the car and they saved him. The other drive was at fault and her insurance company are being typical pricks about it.

Art wise I'll be in a show pretty soon, so that's cool.

Am wrangled into a kid's musical (9-14 yr. olds) that my brother wrote, scored and is directing for his art foundation. I play a sadistic teacher and am not much bigger than the kids in it. Oh well. It's always enjoyable to be someone else.

Moved into a fabulous decaying turn of the century apartment with a late 1940's kitchen, three rooms and a price tag lower than most people's car payments.

Misanthrope.

Was served an order to appear in court for paperwork that I did not lose and for something that I had to sign because I'm over 21.

Drank enough Irish Car Bombs and pints of Guinness on St. Pat's to explode and today appear refreshed and deceivingly glad to be alive. I always get so many compliments on my appearance after a night of drinking. With the beautiful Jen I visited many bars in the Capitol and was priviliged to hear a full Irish marching corps play in one of them.

Explored the tunnels underneath or state Captiol building.

And .....

Finally convinced the husband to watch both Kill Bill movies with me. (He likes romance, classics, sci/fantasy, historical) I had never seen them myself. I loved the visual style, the choices in music, and the many parallels between the two. It was not at all as violent as I thought and not very gorey. In fact I was a bit disappointed with the violence which probably says something bad about me, but oh well. There were moments when it could have gone too far and I wouldn't have cared for that, but I could have understood why those choices were made. For instance if a child had been killed in the beginning of the first one, but I understand it was not in character for that person to do that.

My brother watched it with us. He had watched it when he was in Germany and said it was cut completely differently; different scene order, etc. The Germans he saw it with hated it and could not take the violence at all.

Anyhow. I have a rare opportunity to take a charcoal class lead by Sergio Gomez [link]

It's very exciting because it's hosted by the art foundation that my brother works for, so I get to go for free. It's at 9 AM on Saturday. Ugh. I am not at all creative until around midnight, so it'll be a stretch. Supplies are provided!

Also this week I will be moving into my new apartment. Wow. The husband and I haven't lived just the two of us in years. I have a theme for each room.

Since we have only a bed, a bookshelf, and a TV to our name we have had to borrow furniture from my family. I wanted to do the whole place in black, white, and red, but the furniture is all in browns. So the living room theme will be "Victorian Decay", the kitchen and bathroom will be "Violence" (black, red and white) and the bedroom will incorporate some of the art we got in China with purples, so "Purple China Mist". hahahah. I want each room to be an art statement and I'm going to take care to craft each wall and each section with the limited things I have. I'm just very grateful for this chance to live on our own.

I had a great birthday. I stayed up until after 6 AM on DA and then went to bed and missed my birth time (8:10 AM). I got up to go to a meeting that was supposed to be at NOON but after waiting 20 minutes found out it was cancelled. The rest of my day was spent hanging out with my Dad getting some presents like a new journal (man I haven't had one in like nine months and it's been killing me; it has to be a certain type of book or I can't write in it). Dad and I also watched Nanny McPhee was dark hilarious, perfect British children's fantasy!! (as only the Brits can do)

Anyhow I got a killer book called "Go Ask Ogre" about a cutter who shares her struggles in letters and journals to Ogre of Skinny Puppy and that and the music of deathrock, goth, etc ends up saving her. Too true. What else. Ah yes, got some chocolate and bath stuff and hung out over at drinking excellent wine and watching X-Files.

Do musical lyrics mean very much to you guys? Music is the currency of my mind and the lyrics of songs are to me what poetry must have been to those who gathered together in salons and clandestine philosophical societies centuries ago.

Do you ever just think you are about to die at any moment?? I remember living in China and seeing so much death and disease and wondering if I would make it back to the US. We travelled to Hong Kong to see LOTR 2 and as I watched it I mused on whether I would ever see the third one and if I died if Jesus would watch it with me....

On my birthday I like to think of being born into death and into true Life.

Most of the time I hope that my husband and I live to be at least 80 and accomplish much, die at the same moment and have our bodies burned and our ashes mingled together and buried. Some of the time I think on the three hand guns that are somewhere in our house..... Could you even pull the three triggers at once and rig that up right??

Art. Music. Yes I am the stereotypical classic melancholic. Loving the cold, the dark, loving the things of life and yet enamored with death. When you see real death just laying on a street (again China) raw and unbelievable it is mesmerzing, appalling, and confusing.

25. How do I live the rest of my life? What is the rest of my life. Only God knows and I have to trust that being the Creator of all God has what is just so in store for me and what is God's Will. I have to trust that if God cannot change the things in my life that I will be the One changed to accept and love others as they should be cared for and to remain constant and true in my Heart.

Past two weeks partied at a bluegrass show, partied at a funeral museum (which I'm happily going back to), was bored and ungrateful and had no food at a crappy murder mystery dinner theatre (minus the dinner).

Uh. Busy working for DCFS now instead of the cell phone company (waaaa, money, waaaa family and no time).....

I did manage to find a very scary expensive Anne Klein flapper/art deco from hell dress at the goodwill for $4!!! It's a size 2 though so only the bottom fits me the chest part gapes open, but it actually looks cool with something underneath it left open because it's so weird looking. I'll do some photos with it soon enough.

The world's going to Hell and that's all I have to contribue.

So I hope everyone has a nice week. I'm turning 25 soon, actually I was born the same year and day as Paris Hilton (hahahha go figure that astrology). Paris and I like to get together on our birthdays and drink and fly all around the world celebrating in each time zone to lengthen our birthday as long as possible. We stop by and visit Michael Jordan and the bearded guy form Family Feud to say happy birthday to them too.

So this afternoon just finished reading MM's biography and last night had a long intense dream featuring many of the elements of the book starring myself and Manson. This was an at times painful, odorous, and pleasurable dream the likes of which I have not had for quite some time involving all my senses and seeming to last all night. It's pretty rare for something in my daily life to effect me enough for me to dream about it. If you've read this book then you can imagine and probably don't want to. . . Oh well, it was a dream afterall that I had no control over.

I've recently gotten back into MM. I certainly enjoyed his exploits when I was in highschool 95-99 and he began to shake up the world. However, after becoming a Christian I sort of felt I had to stop listening to certain people and watching certain moves, reading certain books, blah blah. Not because anyone told me to (quite the contrary) but because I thought I should. However, what I was doing was falling into legalism, in which I thought my own actions justified me before God when in actuality nothing I do can add to or take away my salvation, only God can decide that and his Grace and Mercy is all sufficient and beautiful to me. I can't help the way I am and the things that I like. People have different tastes. Just because the prevailing culture has an aesthetic that turns towards kitschy Americana, spinning pink and green angels and faeries, and sappy sitcoms and Romantic Comedies does not mean that those things are the normal nor even desirable past times for all.

Anyhow. I've spent a great week helping AeonTriad move into his fabulous new house and doing artwork here at home. Two friends from college (Jen and Keri!) came to visit me and we attended a cocktail party fundraiser to which I had donated some artwork. There was a live band there which happened to be the band that voted me best costume at the coffeeshop back in October. After the party we continued at a local pub and then at home smoking fat cherry vanilla cigars. We ate Mexican food for breakfast and I delighted in habenero hot sauce. Then we had a great time listening to play at the local coffeeshop. This week I'm going to a bluegrass festival at a bar in another town with my dearly beloved friend Jen. I'm so glad to be reconnected to her. She's moving to Thailand in May near where my missionary friend is, but then plans on going to get her Phd and we're thinking of the same school!!!

So just in case you're curious what sort of creepy area that I call my own I took some photos of my cramped little room that and I share. For the next year and a half we'll be doing full-time care giver duties for my grandma and we converted her dining room into our room. While we care for her we are working part-time and then we are heading off to work on our Doctorates.

1. I honestly sat there feeling that Jackson had triumphantly exceeded all the expectations I had for him based on LOTR and although I believe LOTR is his magnum opus I do feel that Kong went beyond the level he set with LOTR.

2. The literary structure of an, also heavily visual story was amazing. I love that he constructed foils between characters so carefully and subtley. Denham and Darrow both striving hard, working for what the want in life and yet going about completely differently. Kong and Jack. Both fall for Anne based on her inner nature and are not capable of verbalizing how they feel but fight desperately for her.

3. To further the literary quality of the film using "Heart of Darkness" as a commentary on this version compared to the original version of the film was brilliant. "It's not really an adventure story, is it?" Asks the ship's boy as he is reading "heart of darkness". The ship's mate answers "No, no it isn't" Thus we see Jackson making a clear statement that his movie is not about adventure, but about how human beings react when stripped raw and the cosequences of facing something so primal. The failure of "Heart of Darkness" is that the character's human spirit 'de-evolves' into madness that cannot be returned from. The triumph of Jackson's story is that the characters realisitically lose themselves and react to such a traumatic event the way real people might (i.e. exploiting it for gain- denham, denial until it's almost too late-Jack and coming unhinged from 'real' life-Darrow).

4. I have not seen in recent times a movie more convincingly set within it's time period with as few anachronisms in lines. The opening thoroughly places one in the most important elements of life in 1930's New York. It truly seems like 1930's New York, not a set or a build up of CG. This is an inrcredible, laudible feat to bring to life something so long dead that none of us have seen and yet make it feel so real and completely familiar.

5. The creepy, horror of the film and the darkness was startling, refreshing, and a fulfillmnet of the promise that this was not an adventure film. Here is where the movie truly diverts from Cooper's masterpiece.

I believe and hope that Coopper would have been proud of and enjoyed this version. It was very true to the original, as if I was watching the original from another angle, and yet it respectfully made itself its own film, firmly set in the kairos of the 2000's.

The one faltering point is the complete dehumanization of the native people on skull island, however, I feel that was done because we are meant to believe those are not truly people but monsters or demons. Skull island registers on no compass, is surrounded in fog, and is alive with things that should not exist. Are these truly human beings? Coopers natives were much more reasonable and believable, not perfect, but accurate to what he had seen in his travels. These natives are impressivly horrible and otherworldly.

Wow. What a truly mesmerizing experience. Wonderful acting. I enjoyed Tom Hank's son. I especially enjoyed the gratuitious scenes in which Adrien Brody's big sexy nose took over the screen. And his pale chest showing in a few places was a nice touch too. Adrien Brody and Crispin Glover have to got to be my favorite Hollywood crushes.

I kept making non-committal grunting replies, hoping to forestall an answer. I have no way of knowing what my work schedule will be in a month as it's determined by "the needs of the business".

Then my brother and husband were in the kitchen. Jeremy was aksing "are you going, are you going" and Luke was asking "what are you talking about, what are you talking about".

Finally in a rage I yelled! "SHUT UP YOU SHE-BILLY GOAT, NAGGING, WHORING OLD LADIES!!!".

I have no idea where this came from, but it was useful at the time. Sometimes I just don't know how to answer questions. In any case we all burst out laughing and I avoided making a reply to the questions...

In other news our weather here has been freakishly warm. Last night there was a huge storm and it woke me up crashing thunder and lighting. My two new pairs of bondage pants repleat with their chains of loveliness were slung over the chair near the window and my first thought upon waking was "Oh the lightning is going to be drawn to the metal and strike through the window and burn up my pants" Then I feel back asleep.

Merry Christmas!!

We spent Christmas with family which was nice after being seperated out in LA. Being in LA for Christmas felt alot like being in China for Christmas.

Today we sat around the tree here at home and had Christmas lunch with Jeremy's family. Oh goodness I put away the spiked egg nog, wine, and schnappes. I'm excited by the presents other people got and that I got. The highlights would be my husband's new Darth Tater, my brother Luke's copy of Reefer Madness (complete with the new musical version starring Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell!), and my dad's nine pairs of socks he insisted on getting. We restored an old photo for my grandma. My highlights would be a Princess Ai 12 inch doll and a 12 inch Jedi doll. SWEET!

Endearingly Jeremy's brother shared his new cell phone wallpaper with me, seeing as I work for the company that provides his phone. He took a picture of his toilet after he crapped in and that's his background. Disgusting, but hilarious.

Merry Christmas!!!

Did you know that when you say Happy Holidays that holiday means holy day?

Did you know that when you write Merry X-Mas, that the X stands for Christ? Scribes used X as an abbreviation for Christ based on the greek letter Chi (X).


Under our tree are presents for my brother, in-laws, grandma, my dad and my husband. OH! I hope everyone has a wonderful time and enjoys what they get.

Then try the St. Louis Art Museum.



Jeremy and I went to visit the museum yesterday and to see the exhibit "Treasures from the Royal Tombs of Ur". They were treasures indeed. Intricate and costly jewelry, make up cases, boxes, bowls, statuary, instruments, all about 4,000 years old. Seeing these nearly perfect and stunning pieces of everyday life from so long ago really drove home to me how little people change and what a myth it is that the farther you go back in the past the more primitive the people are. I mean they had tiny, precise gold tweezers and eyeshadow cases!

The tomb itself was a pretty gruesome find. Ur is now part of Southern Iraq and this excavation took place as a joint venture between Baghdad, London, and Philadelphia in the 1920's. Down in the tomb they found a number of dead women, children, men and animals who were all killed to accompany the Queen into death. They were killed down in the tomb after everything was arranged. I'm sure there are celebrities today that would be delighted if they could legally make such arrangements for their own deaths.

The St. Louis art museum is massive and contains art from some of my favorites Zurbain, El Greco, Eitel. . . I didn't spot a J.L. David anywhere which saddened me. Jeremy and I didn't have time to visit the arms and armory, furniture, Asian, or American art. We breezed through the contemporary due to time restraints.

We'll be going back, though. My souvenirs? Photos. A postcard. Oh - and I had a cup of coffee. . .

Right now I'm training for my new job. I hate training. It's like being in highschool. Girls around me glammed up and talking about who they slept with on this day and that. Older girls (40's and 50's) giggling non-stop. People are already saying things like "She's smart because she wears glasses" But I don't even talk during the class!! Most of them are nice though and I did get some compliments on my scary "I'm an anime Lolita outfit" Once the training is over I'm sure the job will be fine, but the training is for six weeks and then several months of transition.

Tonight the brother, father, husband, and two friends of mine attended an audience participation of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". It was hosted by a very enthusiastic Columbia who has been working in such a capacity for 15 years after attending her first debacle in Naples Italy.

Since I'm extremely allergic to wheat I used the latex gloves to throw the toast, but I was worried some would land on my face and a piece did fall in my bag so I had to be careful then!

Afterwards my husband, decked out in a medieval style tunic (we found at Goodwill!!), a long black wig, a cape, and his usual glasses was attacked by a girl while I was in the other hallway. "You look like a grown up Harry Potter" she cried and then threw herself on him in a hug. Embarassed she began to hug everyone. . . but she was through by the time I had returned.

Then we had to stop for gas and someone grumbled at Jeremy (my husband) while he was insiding paying "Oh it's one of those Gothic people". Hahahha. When we are in all black since we have blonde hair people usually don't make comments like that or make them sparingly, but I guess the black wig put them over the top....

The world is such a hard place. I hope that those disrupted by the hurricanes can find people to connect with in love and find mercy from God. Sometimes I think the current coming of age generation (21-28) is the most cursed since 1929, but I have to look a long eye at history and realize that every generation in each country is tormented by something and that life has always been hard. Melancholics are artistic sorts who favor cold weather. Thus I'm delighted that after seeing my last fall in 2003 I will get a chance to experience fall and winter again. I was living out west in hot, cruel sun land. For whatever reason I feel more alive when it's cold, more real. The colors, trees and darkness suit me nicely. I'm so excited that autumn started yesterday, but I hope it turns cool soon.
