it's been forever. like, a year? almost. haha. wow. let's just say I had 9,998 deviations to look at and finally got sick of seeing that number grow. I had to say bye-bye. along with the journals, hot topics, polls, etc. that I was also tired of not looking at.

anyway, it's summer, which means I have some time and will be on here every now and then. I don't know how much art I'll be uploading, because my tablet is acting up, but I do love trades and they give me good reason to sit down and try on a picture. haha. guess my own characters aren't enough inspiration.

also, I'm working on another novel...hopefully this is one that I finish. anyone who would like to read that, message me, I'll see what I can do. I'm at about 15,000 words, 25 pages, that sort of thing. I'm loving it.

college is amazing, you guys. I had a crappy second year if you just look at it in terms of what happened, but I grew so much. speaking of growing, I read the most amazing book: Waking the Dead, by John Eldredge. literally turned everything upside down. and now everything has a little extra...shimmer? I don't know. life is good.

so I'll be commenting here and there on pieces I really like, that sort of thing. it's kind of nice to get back into this community again. don't get me wrong, I love my college friends to death - but some of you guys have watched me grow, which is kind of special.

So those are pretty exciting...

...and I get to write sports feature stories for the school newspaper--YAY! It's going to be really awesome. I was going to cover men's soccer, but then there were enough people to cover everything else and I could have either kept the men's soccer or gone ahead and just written feature stories. This place is so much fun it's not even amusing. Like srsly.

SO THE VITS IS AT COLLEGE. AND THE VITS IS OVERJOYED BEYOND BELIEF. YOU CAN'T EVEN KNOW.

So yeah. Stories:

--Dickerellas...every girl in our residence hall got into one room and threw one shoe into this big pile. LOL. It was awesome to watch shoes go flying. And then all the guys came in and took one (or two--there were a few more girls than guys) and found the girl whose shoe they had and then took that girl to Dick's Drive-In. SO awesome. And totally not awkward, surprisingly... I just went into it telling myself this was a chance to meet guys, which I might not do so much if I wasn't forced into it like that, and it was so much fun. I got this gentlemanly guy named Ari (sweetest name ever...it stood for Aristedes; and it's pronounced like Harry without the "h") and we ended up being the last couple to get there thanks to no cars. LOL.

--SCREAMING NINJAS HECK YES. Ever played the game? You pretty much scream yourself hoarse and test your reflexes in a big group. Toooooo much fun.

--I found a bunch of Hawks fans, too, which is insanely cool. Ari's roommate, as it turns out, is a rabid Sonics fan as well. I'm so excited.

--And the PEOPLE. They're so NICE, darn it...

...so yeah. Art is not forthcoming, as I'm still doing orientation which is insanity personified, and yeah. I have like 140 deviations to look at. And I got rid of a bunch of stock photos I didn't feel like looking at.

And he would probably teach some sort of very interactive subject. Dunno what it would be...but it would have lots of experiments and stuff.

02) Do you think 2 (Jyr) is hot? How hot?
LOL, yeah, I'm totally into blue cats. XD

03) 12 (Peanut) sends 8 (Yuniesky) on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?
Peanut'd probably send Yuni to go get some extra Mariners tickets for her and Joey. And yeah, it'd work--Yuni's a former Mariners player (now a cat, hehe), if you didn't know.

04) What is or would be 9's (Jeremy) favorite book?
Thaaaat's...scary. Jeremy (the real person) is rather a frightening child...angry and all that. So I dun wanna decide what his favorite book would be. o.O

The other way around. Though neither one makes sense, considering they're on opposite sides... Maybe, if Tapegun decided he was done being one of the Sea Wolves, he might swear fealty to Izzi. But not to Jyr. He doesn't like Jyr much.

06) For some reason, 5 (Dyanna) is looking for a roommate. Should he/she share a studio apartment with 9 (Jeremy) or with 10 (Jazz)?
JAZZ. Woah. Sharing an apartment with Jeremy'd be spooky. *shudder* 'sides, she's old friends with Jazz.

Ooooh...well...they might head off to somewhere fairly cheap but tasty, like Taco Time, and get whatever the heck they were in the mood for. And Peanut and Jyr would make amateur smalltalk, while Felix sat there in awkward silence.

08) 3 (Danny) challenges 10 (Jazz) to a duel. What happens?
Nothin', 'cause they're best friends.

He'd ask and use his big kitten eyes. And Izzi would melt and give it back. She'd just be making it a joke anyways, heh, 'cause she's not one to be malicious and steal stuff from her friends.

Izzi: Yeah, although most of the Renegades don't wear quite so much jewelry.

Izzi: My blue eyes. Usually only snow Bengals have blue eyes, and I'm not a snow Bengal.
Anira: The blue hair I mentioned. That and my tattoos--a baseball bat, a four-pointed star, and the Mariners' logo.
Jyr: My blue fur, and my two tattoos: a goalpost and a football. The green hawk-shaped patch over my eye gets a lot of attention too.

Izzi: I've got one, and if you insult my sense of justice, it might just bite you. Usually I'm a calm gal, though.

2.) Do you ever get depressed?
Izzi: Yeah, but I push it down. I have to seem tough and unaffected.
Anira: Not really...I'm on top of my life, so I don't really have reason to be.

Izzi: Leader. Always have been...although I've been told I'd make a good loner, too.
Anira: Loner--I don't like to be in charge, because I feel like no one does stuff the way it should be done, but I despise being a sheep.

Izzi: I can't stand injustice. And I mean the whole deal: fur fluffed out, fangs bared, growl rumbling, eyes shrinking to pinpoints.

Izzi: Mother, father, brother (who I technically don't know is alive), and three kids. Four, if you count Lavani, who I adopted.

Jyr: My parents are fine, but they live on the other side of the country. I'm happily married and have two strapping boys.

Izzi: No--I have a whole organization to look after.
Anira: As much as I can be with an irritating little sister and an annoying younger brother following me around.
Jyr: I'm a family man. I was out on my own when I left New York City, but now I've settled down.

There are three Izzis. Haha, no, not literally...well, actually, yes, quite literally. Three "incarnations", shall we say. Each one serves a different purpose.

Izzi #1 = my cat representation. I draw this Izzi to represent my current mood, or to express my point of view on some issue. This Izzi shows up the least, believe it or not. I dunno why...I just change moods quickly enough to not bother drawing most of them, I guess.

Izzi #2 = my fursona. Don't get this confused with Izzi #1; they're very different. My fursona is simply my main drawing character, and she pretty much has an exaggerated version of every aspect of my personality. My flaws are twice as bad in her, and my virtues twice as good. She also exhibits twice the emotion in a situation (say, for instance, her fangirliness--I'm not at all fangirly in real life; but it's so fun to draw...so I let Izzi do that) that I would, and has twice as strong an opinion. This Izzi probably shows up more than Izzi #1 but less than Izzi #3.

Izzi #3 = the character. This is the Izzi that lives in the world of my cat characters, the one that's in love with the Danny Fortson cat (NOT ME. SERIOUSLY. No one believes me, but it's true), and the one who I draw the most. She's the most cat-like of the three Izzis, and probably the most believable.

10 things about my art...

-- I rarely imagine a picture in my head before I draw it. Often I've gotten the head and the torso of a character before I've decided on what they're doing. It's strange.

-- I got my current style by studying a lot of TLK art and TLK fanart, copying some of the poses/heads, and then drawing them again from memory. It helps to do the hand motion stuff for the style, but then adding my own twists to it. I don't really like my style sometimes, but I don't really know what I would do to change it.

-- Humans are teh ICK to draw. I look at people's drawings an' I'm all, "that's soooo simple!" but I can't even figure out the basic shape of the head. Blergh.

-- When starting a new cat doodle/drawing, I do a big circle with the lines for where the nose goes, then draw the nose, then ignore the guidelines. I'm weird, I know.

-- I avoid shading if I can because I'm no good at light sources/suchlike. My hand hurts after a while, working on a laptop pad-mouse thingy. o_O

-- I'm starting to use backgrounds on my pictures now, and I find it a rather relaxing process, especially if I feel like going into big but "whocareshowaccurate" detail.

-- I usually "ink" my pictures with a three-pixel lineart, but lately I've discovered that the "ink" tool in GIMP works even better, because it gives the subtleties of a real ink pen and also allows you to adjust the size more.

-- I have more characters than I can easily keep track of, but I honestly aim to draw them all. I rarely make up a character design with it being fun or interesting to draw more than once.

-- I keep all my computer art in numbered folders on my computer and venture into the 2004 and 2005 folders only when I feel like burning my retinas. It's fun and disturbing.

-- The reason I only ever draw cats is a) because I'm (semi)good at them and b) because I've always loved felines. They're a lot like me in personality, and sometimes I still wish I could be one. So I turn myself, my friends/family, and my heroes/nemeses into cats.

Yes. I'm a weirdo who loves listening to other people's dreams (mostly because I love bragging about how much more interesting my own are, heh), so I'm starting a new chain...tag...thing. Paste the following rules into your journal and follow them!

1. I once dreamed that my father was a MASSIVE secret baseball fan. This isn't very funny unless you know that my dad is the biggest baseball hater I've ever known. He was really excited about getting to watch a Seattle Mariners game, and it was quite amusing, even in the dream.

2. After watching The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I dreamed that my family and I had to go the Professor's house, and then we were only allowed to go exactly (and I mean EXACTLY) three feet around the house, because otherwise these nasty men riding deer would come and shoot us with those old-style "foghorn"-barreled guns.

3. I had a dream in which I was in a cartooning class, and I drew the teacher as a sled dog having to pull me, as a cat, along in the sled. The teacher then whipped me with a scarf because he was mad. And he also called me an elephant with a red balloon--and in the dream, I was highly insulted. I think I'll try that next time I want to dis somebody...

4. In one of my dreams, a three-year-old girl had her wisdom teeth taken out. Let that sink in for a bit, then scratch your head. Yeah, weird.

5. I dreamed once that my parents and my siblings strapped me to the roof of the suburban to make me go on vacation, and when we got to this place where we had a choice between a bridge or going back around the other side of this massive river, they told me that one way led to instant death, then hid the map and made me decide which way to go. Don't ask.

Awriiiiighty.

1. I have to do the exact same routine before I go to bed if my "Sonics lights" are on. It's the only thing I'm that rigid with myself on. Pretty much involves saying "goodnight" to all the players. *hide*

2. I use Sonics lights in the first place. What are they, you ask? Strings of Christmas lights in green, gold, and white that I turn on should the Sonics win, and for every day/night following on which they do not play. I'm so bizarre. Oh, and similarly, I (attempt to) draw the face of the player who played the best after each win.

3. I am the ultimate underdog fan. Unless they're my hometown team already, you seriously can't get me to root for the favored anything--team, is the first thing that comes to mind, but even in, say, debates and such, I pull whole-heartedly for the underdog. 's a weird sort of compassion. Oh, and I'd rather be the underdog, too.

4. My dream journal/log thing reads like a novel filled with ultimate bizareness. F'serious. It's reeeeeally scary. For instance: 1) my mother's good friend, who she has lunch with every few weeks, decided in one dream that all she wanted to talk about was cheeseburgers; 2) I have turned into a zillion different animals, and every time I can see my body as I run around on four legs; 3) I'm as white as white can be, but I honestly cannot remember a dream in which the love interest was white. It's so weird.

5. If I were to go to a desert island and live there with only five foods, I would choose to bring olives, pickles, Top Ramen (beef flavor), sweet and sour pork, and everything pizza. I adore salt beyond belief, and I love pickled herring much more than chocolate.

6. I start playing Christmas music around November 14th. No kidding.

Jewelry worn daily - A really old chain (which used to be colored in paint, but is now sweated silver again, heh) with a rusty green and gold ring and a dragon charm. --I can do pretty much anything--just look in my gallery for examples. I'm best at photomanipulation/poster-like things, so if you want quality work then you'll probably want to request a poster of your favorite athlete. Just so you know. I can draw marginally well, though, animals only, so if that's what you prefer, fine.
--Because I'm taking a Photoshop class this quarter, I'm going to be needing some examples of my work. Your pic may be subject to strange new twists (Photoshop filters, mostly), and I kinda have to require that you let me use your requested picture as an example of my work for this class.
