I really hate to do this since I do have my pride, but, I don't have much of a choice at this point.

Quite simply, I need to do some fundraising. This year has been rather brutal here financially, just one thing after another. Now my 5 year old hp pavillion that I've been keeping going on a prayer as parts kept dying is sounding like it's getting ready to blow it's power supply. At this point so much has died on it (media reader, dvd drive, flaky usb ports, crossed lines in sound card) that it'll cost me more to repair it than the thing is worth. Even HP doesn't carry parts for it anymore, and considering the thing is maxed out at 1 gig of ram, really, it needs replacing.

As many of you know, my health isn't the best, especially my hands, so my machine is rather important. I'm scrounging together what I can and still be able to eat in january, but quite simply I can use all the help I can get. So if you like our work and have used it, please, consider using the paypal donation button that's on all my sharecg pages or consider commissioning a poser/ds model for either your personal artwork or for a set you're looking to sell. I'm seeing what I can do for a donator gift as well.

My sharecg page as always is here:

[link]

In much less depressing news, we do have a new set in the works. Hoping for release by new year, but I won't promise anything, things are hectic and my apartment is icebox which is slowing things down. I'll see about posting a sneak peek at the new character for V4 sometime today.

Hope you're all well

*Update* Anyone who donates 10 dollars or more will recieve a copy of my Frost and Flame weapon set which has three seperate weapons with textures for each.

So today I turn 34 according to my birth certificate. LOL I swear some days there's a zero or two missing based on what body tells me

It's been an up and down year I suppose. Lots of difficulties for myself and those I care about, but hopefully these things will start improving in the months to come. They already have been improving some for me, I finally managed to get out of the debt I got into in the winter due to the heating bills. This month is still really tight, and I'm probably going to run a bit short, but at least everything is finally paid off!

Not really up to much today, relaxing mostly, might get some Poser/DS work done. LOL gods knows I have enough of it waiting for my attention.
Have been tinkering with a couple of things the last few days, but nothing I can show yet.

Gift wise, got taken to see Transformers 2 and the new Harry Potter movies by Eyesofacrow. Was nice to get out of the house. LOL Transformers 2 was very inspiring. I tried seeing if I could model a version of the original ravage. LOL, let's just say that one won't be seeing the light of day any time soon

Also got the fae realms dress and one of it's texture sets as well as the Suranian Priest outfit from friends here on DA.

Now the usual tradition is to release something new around my birthday for you all. Well, this year I didn't get anything new finished in time, however, the tradition goes on. I decided to go through some of my exclusive stuff that only had a limited release and decided this year, I would put up the V3 Riders set that was designed as a contest prize a couple years ago for two days only. It's now been taken down, hope those of you who got it enjoy

If you want to see what it looks like, you can see it used here by Wrenstormbringer:

[link]

And as always, you can find the freebies we've done here:

[link]

Hope you enjoy

I just have to get through this one last abysmal month and stay inventive, then next month I can finally start breathing again. LOL provided nothing Else goes wrong.

Still thinking about various projects, at some point I should really sit down and get some work done.

In better news, have found an online game I quite enjoy called Xhodon. If you like games where you have to upgrade things and build armies then you'll probably quite enjoy it. It's free, though you can get extra benefits if you're willing to pay some cash. But so far I've found nothing I needed to spend money for if I was willing to be patient.

If you want to give it a try, here's my personal link to the game. If you stay and play regularly, I do get a resource bonus.

[link]

Hope you're all doing well

LOL seems it's been a while since I updated this thing so figured would take a few minutes to do so since I know some people have been wondering what was going on.

To avoid going into all sorts of unnecessary details, let's just say that between pain, finances, and general life stuff, life has almost completely sucked the last few months. Hence why I haven't been around here much.

I haven't touched the projects on the drawing board for a while, I have some ideas, I just haven't had the energy to bother working on them. I do have some stuff sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to finish it, maybe I'll see about releasing it sometime soon, we'll see.

Guess that's it for now, as usual, if there's something you really want me to see, message me, else it might get lost

Hope you're all well.

My Freebies:

[link]

Yeah I know, I've been quiet again. LOL have been busy as hell dealing with dentist, as well as higher pain levels due to the cold weather, but thankfully the dental work is almost finished and the weather is starting to even out so it's not that constant yoyoing that just makes you want to curl up and die

My apologies for not commenting on things or faving and running. Some days I'm just too sore to type much.

So what have I been up to? Not all that much really. I've been taking some time to recover from October's releases. It was fun doing that many, but definately exhausting. LOL someone do me a favor and remind me next year to start sooner

Other than some work I did for another commercial set by , mostly right now I'm slowly working on the modelling for the next free set of ours which will be out next year. Won't say a lot about it yet, since things are still being figured out as I go, but I can say that it will be for V4, and that it won't be small...

I May release a small texture set for the new Feathered Wings from Daz sometime this month, but I think that will be it, I'm still pretty exhausted due to everything. What I will need though is a few people who have that set that are willing to test. So if you have em and are willing, let me know

Hmmm guess that's it for now, later

My Freebies:

[link]

Well, just got back from spending the day at the Hamilton Pagan Pride Day festival. Was fun if tiring and a bit wet. Got to see a lot of people, but around 2 it started to rain hard, and that really slowed things down. We ended up packing up early because it was just too wet, even the last performers, the dragon ritual drummers ended up being cancelled because of the heavy downpour. Definately will have to see about going again next year

The project for next month is still coming along well.
Well the project for next month is progressing slowly, but getting there. One pack is finished and packaged, two more should be finished today unless something goes wrong.

Whether I'll get everything done yet, I'm still not sure, but at least some will be done. Though sadly one part is already going to have to be poser only simply because despite a number of attempts, daz studio simply isn't capable of making it look good due to lack of features. Sucks, but not a lot I can do about it.

Speaking of Poser, I finally upgraded my version. LOL I'm in debt, but now running P7. Should let me do some things I've had on the back burner. Though there are some differences I'm still trying to figure out. For instance, how to make it render to a seperate window while I'm in the material room. The constant switch back and forth is annoying. So if ya know how to do it, please tell me!

As for Daz Studio, I swear, they really need to get on the ball. It's becoming increasingly annoying just how many bugs there are in every release. I'm using their supposedly "stable" version that they have up at downloads.com right now, and yesterday the stupid thing wouldn't even let me save a shader preset. It kept saying I had too many surfaces selected even though I only had one. I know Microsoft has made it popular to release programs that are a ton of bugs with a couple of lines of code wrapped around them, but this is getting ridiculous. More so when they keep adding new features, without making sure the app is stable first. I mean, has someone forgotten that every new bit you add introduces new bugs? The new beta that was just released in the support section apparently has the UI elements in place to support the dynamic clothing and rigging tools. I wonder how many bugs That will introduce. I really wish they'd wait to add this extra stuff on though at least until we have a proper material room. We need one, desperately. Most of the stuff coming out in shaders for sale, is stuff that's absolute basics and should have been there already, and even those tend to leave out important features.

LOL but perhaps I'm just getting spoiled by Poser's

Let's see, what else.

I'll be in Hamilton on Saturday at the Pagan Pride Day with my partner eyesofacrow helping her out. Should be fun.

Have picked out a new dvd drive, just have to wait to get the money now. I'm slowly getting the things I need redownloaded and installed. But on a positive note, at least I'm getting the chance to clean out a lot of stuff I don't really use.

Hmmm guess that's it for now, later

Today has just been not my day. It started out with problems reading dvd's last night. I spent all night(literally) trying to fix it, with no luck. Eventually, issues introduced by all the tricks trying to fix the drive, made me reformat.

I lost everything.

So I get the system reinstalled, and do some more looking around, and what do I discover? The DVD drive's laser is dead. So I'll need a new drive. Not that I've got a clue yet how I'm going to afford it. Oh and did I mention that all my backups are on DVD?

So, it looks like I'm going to be downloading things for a while trying to get things reinstalled. Though a lot of stuff I know is gone, either because I didn't have it backed up yet(writing, scene files, art), or because it's on DVDs which I can't access and the stuff is no longer available anywhere for download.

Since I was already asked, if anyone wants to help out, there are paypal donate buttons beside all of my freebies.

As for the plans for October..well...that's kinda in the air now. I did manage to have the one completed part of it elsewhere but that still leaves a lot of work to try and redo, so we'll have to see. Going to try though, will just depend how long it takes me to get up and running.

My Freebies:

[link]

So the props for the dragon mage are all set up now, just texturing has to be finished. Most likely she'll be getting released sometime in August. She's been a hard set, there were just so many possible ideas for addons for her. It's easily a set I can see doing an expansion for sometime in the future.

Talanra's new textures are also in the works, with plans for release sometime in October. September we'll be taking a break so Crow has time to prep for various festivals.

For those who don't pay attention to Renderosity, it was announced today that Truespace 7.6 is being given away for free.
So, I turned 33 yesterday. Was a time when I was younger that I really didn't think that would ever happen, have to admit there was also a time I didn't want it to either. I have to say though that on review, this last year wasn't that bad.

I'm rather pleased with the work EyesofaCrow and I are putting out. I honestly think we're getting more inventive and better with each set, and if some things I'm working on go according to plan, this will definately continue. All I'll say about that, is it's amazing what you can make DazStudio do if you're willing to play around with shaders and if necessary make your own. Keep an eye out for tests.

Health wise, I hurt as always, but, I haven't had one of my really bad days in a while which is always a blessing.

Overall, it's been a pretty good year, hopefully the next one will be even better. Oh and for those who are curious, for my birthday I got a book, a new knife and a 10 dollar renderosity gift certificate.

For those of you who actually like the sets that Crow and I put out, I'm sorry but I've got some bad news. As much as I hate to do it, I'm afraid that starting with Tink, I'm going to have to stop supporting Poser. It's come to my attention that there are some Massive problems between my version and the newer versions. Combination of broken morphs, and weird multipliers being added to numerical values in the material room. Sadly, there's just no way I can fix this since I can't take a look and see what might be causing the problems.

I know some will figure I should just upgrade, but the simple fact is, I can't afford to. The price for Poser, is honestly what I live on for a month, and since I'm not making anything doing these sets and requests, an upgrade right now is just not possible. Also no, a cracked version is simply not an option for a whole bunch of reasons.

We did consider stopping releases entirely until/unless I could upgrade, but figured that we can still support studio, so might as well continue to do so. If one knows their way around the material room, you will be able to make the sets work, since I do my basic file setup for props etc in poser anyways, but there's simply no point in me spending all the time setting up mat files that aren't going to work properly anyways.

If/When I can afford to upgrade, I'll start supporting Poser again, until then, there's simply no point. Sorry guys.

I'll probably get to work on the Poser ones sometime soon. I'm still trying to decide what all I want to give her prop wise. One of her weapons is already finished, but I know I'm not done yet

Sadly, I didn't have enough time to get anything new ready for the 3d swap tomorrow, but as always, you can find my freebies at the link at the bottom of this post.

Guess that's it for now, later.

My Freebies:

[link]

Mythic Reality:

[link]

Well, Tink is moving along well, I finished her DazStudio mats today. I'll probably start on the Poser ones sometime in the next day or two and hopefully they won't take too long. A couple of the mats I'm rather pleased with, hopefully I can manage a similar look in Poser.

My partner Crow who does all the textures for our sets, set up a second account today for us for stock as well as prints. You can find it here:

[link]

Not much there yet, but hopefully that will be quickly fixed. The plans as far as I know right now, are to post more sneak peeks of the sets than I do here, as well as provide a spot for her to do some stock pieces since she's been having so much fun with her camera. She does plan on posting a few prints there as well, so hopefully people will find something they like

Hmmm guess that's it for now, hope you're all well

So I finally decided what the next project would be, and have been working on it the last couple of days. You'll probably start seeing some test shots within the next day or so since I have some props that I need to be sure work properly.

Crow and I also decided to actually give ourselves a name, we've chosen Mythic Reality. Seemed rather fitting to me

Have to admit it's nice to be working on stuff again.
I know, haven't been very active lately, the weather of late has just been pounding me. LOL way too much rain.

Made a decision last night that I don't like, but I don't see an alternative for. Due to a variety of technical reasons, I'm scrapping the Frostburn set. Some of her set may end up becoming beta tester gift at some point this year, but that's the end of my plans for her.

This of course raises the question of what I'm going to be doing next. Best answer, is I'm not sure yet. I'm hoping to have something finished and out before my birthday next month, but I have to figure out what I want to do first

As far as requests go, those who've made requests, I need you to contact me and let me know if they're still needed.
Yep, I'm still alive, just been taking a break for a while. Was feeling very burned out after doing several back to back sets, so been taking some time to recover and just have fun playing games etc while I decide what's next.

As you can imagine, I do have a ton of deviations waiting, so if there's something you really want me to see, as usual, note me. Else it might get skipped.

Got some used parts for my machine in the other day, more ram and a video card in exchange for answering questions about designing stuff for poser/studio. I thought it was a great deal

For those who have requests in with me, I haven't forgotten, just been burned out as I said, and haven't even turned any of the software on since February. I'm starting to get drawn back to it though, so hopefully you'll start seeing stuff coming out again soon

If I can get V4.2 to cooperate with me, the next release will likely be Frostburn, since I have all her props made and most of her textures are finished. When she'll be coming out, will depend Entirely on how well she cooperates with me...

Ok guess that's it for now, later.

Just letting everyone know that I'm still alive, though far behind again. The weather here has been fluctuating a fair bit lately, and it's been pounding me, combine that with not getting more than 4 hours sleep at a time, and even that's broken up, and well, I'm exhausted. I'm still hoping to release Frostburn next month, but we'll see what happens, I haven't had the energy to work on anything.

On positive note, I did get the new version of V4 installed, surprisingly without any problems. Now if they'll just release the update for the Injection Pose Builder that was mentioned, maybe I can actually get something done with her.

Aiko 4, unfortunately I won't be able to support, at least for a while. I'm not platinum club member at the moment due to finances, so she's not free, and spending 18 dollars on a figure I won't use other than for developing stuff for requests would be silly

Seems content paradise is selling poser 6 for $2.29 if you're a passport member.
Well, after more versions than I can count, starting with one for Victoria 2, the Queen is finally out the door. You can find her here:

[link]

As I mentioned earlier in the month, the Queen marks a change in how we do things.

First, is that we've switched to higher resolution textures in order to preserve details. I was getting annoyed at Poser especially constantly destroying the tatt details.

Second, is that both Poser and DazStudio mats are both in the pose directory, no more having to install a seperate zip.

Third, and I think more importantly in many ways, I've switched to doing native Poser mats, instead of what I was doing of just using the exporter from Studio. Poser still isn't my main application so some adjustment likely will be necessary, but I think it's a vast improvement.

The final change, is I've switched to setting the transmapped areas to pure white to make it easier for people to adjust to fit their hair colors.

Next major release will be Frostburn next month

My Partners:

EyesofaCrow: [link]

RavensDarkAngel77: [link]

My Freebies:

[link]

Projects:

Crow and I:
Beasts for Vampire Bride 3 for V4: Delayed, in progress.
Queen of Hearts for V3: Released!
Lady Frostburn for V4: Scheduled for March, in progress.
Dryad for V3: Scheduled for April, in progress.

RavensDarkAngel and I:

Texture pack for V3: Next one in progress.

Requests:

WrenStormBringer:
Staves: Have sketches, in progress.
Flags: Thinking.

Velldune:
Fantasy Coins: Modelling complete, in progress.
Pouches: Thinking.

Loveit:
Masks and Headdresses: Have sketches,in progress.
Socks: Thinking.

First, I want to thank those who took the time to send in their requests for things they'd like to see, it really does help when I have exact ideas. Do feel free to keep sending me notes with more

I'm running a bit behind on work I wanted to get done, pain levels spiked because the weather has been fluxing so badly lately, but they're coming back down to my norm and I should get caught up fairly quickly. Providing nothing goes wrong, you'll be seeing either 2 or 3 releases this week, maybe more.

The first, will be the Danarra for V3 set that was a cooperative work between myself, Ravensdarkangel77 and Eyesofacrow. It's been up in the air for a while, but now that everyone is either back or about to be back, I have her promos and she should be out in the next day or so. She is an older set, but hopefully people will still enjoy her

Second, is of course, my Queen of Hearts that was done with EyesofaCrow. I'm figuring she'll be released on Friday. Those who are familiar with our work already, will find that we've changed how we do a few things starting with her set. I'll cover what those changes are when I release her

The third set you might see out this week, will be some texture sets for V3 by Ravensdarkangel77. I have the textures now, I just have to get the mat files all set up. These sets, unlike Danarra, will be done using the new methods that the Queen uses. I did consider redoing Danarra with the new methods, but, bluntly, Danarra works now, going back and redoing her from scratch would just be silly. Especially with the number of projects on the table.

Think that's it for now, hope you all have a great weekend

Contests:

WrenStormBringer's Equine Dreams 2: [link]

Chris10's Fairy Tales Contest:
[link]

My Partners:

EyesofaCrow: [link]

RavensDarkAngel77: [link]

My Freebies:

[link]

Projects:

Crow and I:
Beasts for Vampire Bride 3 for V4: Delayed, in progress.
Queen of Hearts for V3: Complete.

So Sharecg announced the other day that they're stopping their revenue sharing program, at least for a while, due to abuses and a general need to rethink how they're doing things.

Can't say I blame them.

The system as it was set up really seemed to bring out the worst in people. Which is funny in a sad way considering that really, it wasn't a great deal of money. Average payout rate was a third of a cent since I joined. Just shows how nasty people can get even over pennies I suppose.

For me, I'll be continuing to host my stuff there, the free hosting alone makes it worthwhile. Sure the idea of making some cash was nice, but, it's really not that big of a deal.

Nor will I be switching to being a vendor. I can't due to some rules that set things up so it would hurt me far more than it would help. Not to mention, I just plain don't want to. I like being able to design what I want or people request without having to worry about a bottom line. It gives a lot of freedom in creating that the merchants seem to lose.

I have been doing some wondering though. Specifically I've been wondering why we don't see groups for Freestuff creators like we do for vendors. Or at least none that I've heard of.

Yes, there are various freestuff forums on sites like Renderosity, but at least the way I see such a group working, you really couldn't run it on one of those, simply because you'd end up hijacking it. A group like this would pretty much require a dedicated forum section just for it.

To me a group of this kind would have a few basic purposes:

First would be cooperation and skills sharing between creators. No one can be a master of all the various skills needed to release quality sets. There's just too many. The vendors have solved this by working with others on their releases, why can't freestuff creators do the same thing?

Second would be maintaining an up to date list of what resources both free and commercial can be used for creating freestuff. There is nothing more annoying than having to spend days trying to find stuff that will work for your project that you can actually use. Talk about tempting you to scrap a project entirely! One would hope that perhaps members would create more to add to it as well

Third, would be the opportunity to have tutorials and tips geared specifically at creating packs for poser/studio. There's all sorts of little quirks one has to keep in mind, it would be nice if people could get their questions answered in one spot instead of having to hunt all over the various sites.

*shrugs* Just a few thoughts on how something like this could work. Whether anyone will decide to give it a shot, I don't know, but I can hope

Happy New Year everyone, hopefully no one is suffering from hangovers too badly today

So 2007 is finally finished, thank gods. It seemed like the year that would not die, and one that brought problems to a lot of people I know as well as myself. Hopefully 2008 will be much better.

I have to admit though, I am quite pleased with how releases went this year. Since October, we managed 7 public releases, as well as a few small ones that were either gifts or special requests I didn't think would have a larger appeal.

I have to give the texturists, EyesofaCrow and Ravensdarkangel credit, they both did great work this year, LOL and managed not to kill me when I kept coming up with More work for them. The same goes for the beta testers who made sure the toys actually worked as well as made suggestions for improvement

So thank you to all of you for your hard work. We did very well.

*grins* But you just know that I plan on making 2008 even better...

Btw, can anyone tell me if you have to be a subscriber in order to use CSS? LOL I so need to organise this thing better

Since it's becoming harder and harder to come up with original wing designs (I just had to scrap the release of the icy wings since there's a new set in the marketplace that is way too close for my liking), I was just curious, for those of you who do winged artwork, what is your favorite set of wings and where can I get them?

I'm more interested in the "angel" type of wing, but wouldn't mind hearing of others as well. I have a few winged characters on the drawing board right now, so I'm considering supporting some of the existing sets rather than just doing a whole new set that's the same as all the others.

Does that mean I won't be doing any new wing designs? LOL no, I still have a few ideas and sketches for things other people haven't done yet, but if I can save some dev time for doing new stuff, why not?

Plans for releases for 2008 are slowly taking form right now. I think some of the ideas we have will be quite fun

Well, the Lady of Storms is now in Beta, so far it seems people like her. I'm hoping she'll be released sometime in the next day or two depending on whether or not there's any problems.

I've been busy as hell getting various christmas gifts finished, but I'm slowly making my way through them so things might return to the normal level of insanity sometime soon

Now, a question for you all. Anyone know of a good Merchant Resource skin base for Victoria 4 that allows use in freebie sets? There's plenty that allow commercial, but I've been having real problems finding one that allows usage for making freebies. Cheap would be nice

Yes, this means I'm actually in the process of working on stuff for V4, the sword in the LOS set as well as something else that's in the works are both smart propped for both V3 and V4, though V3 is still my favorite to work with.

Btw, now would be as good a time as any to make any requests for packs you'd like to see in the new year.

Nano update:

Minimum required for today:35007
My current as of today:25905

As you can see, what little headway I had suddenly vanished on me since I updated last. The story is still going well I think. What happened was sadly a simple case of health ganging up on me. It's been really wet here lately, as well as cold, and either of those two alone are enough to make me somewhat miserable, but when you get both together I really don't want to do much of anything. I'm really not sure at this point that I'll be able to reach the 50K goal next week, but if not, that's ok, at least I tried, and I have a half decent story in the works. The story itself is going well so far I think, next time I sit down to write, it'll be on the final chapter for part 1. LOL then things get real interesting, since part two is done from an entirely different pov. Hopefully it doesn't give me too many problems.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm not entirely sure there will be a release this month. Between Nano, life, and the health stuff, I really haven't had a chance to work on things, but we'll see what happens. I'm pretty sure it will be something small though if I do manage to get something released. Not what I wanted to do but, I don't see any way to get the set I wanted to release out this month without drastically cutting the quality I prefer to keep, which I'm simply not willing to do.

Guess that's it for now, I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving

Required as of today: 10002
My current as of today: 13657
Goal: 50000

Am quite pleased how the story is going. It froze up on me a bit yesterday after only a thousand words, but luckily was able to finish off that chapter and start and finish the next today.

LOL I may have finally decided on a title. I'm thinking of using "Best Laid Plans", it seems to fit the story quite well. Backup title at this point is "Of Light and Darkness"

The writing itself is still pretty rough at this point, but I think it's steadily improving as I get back into the various habits. You wouldn't think that you could get out of practice with writing, I mean, we do it every day in some way shape or form, but I can definately tell just how out of practice I am.

Projects:

Honestly, I haven't gotten a heck of a lot done lately. The writing has been taking up all my time. So if you're waiting on something from me, please be patient. It is most likely in the works, it's just taking me longer than I expected.

I am still planning a freebie for this month, what it will be, I'm not entirely sure yet, but we'll see what happens. If things go well, it may be a new character set. If not, it will likely be a prop of some kind, most likely a weapon.

For anyone who's curious, at the end of day 2, my word count is 4686, which is a little over 1300 words ahead of where I should be. The story isn't too bad so far, there's lots of sections I would love to take a chainsaw to, but that can come next month maybe. LOL I can definately tell how out of practice I am though, but overall so far it's been fun. Hopefully it will continue to be
Biggest problem so far? Other stories wanting to intrude and get my attention. LOL hopefully they'll be patient until I have time to focus on them.
I am still working on things for art projects, I might just be a bit slower than I thought, we'll see

Been considering giving Nano next month a shot and was curious if anyone else I know is planning on joining the insanity.

For those who don't know, the idea of Nanowrimo is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.

You can get more info here:

[link]

So anyone else giving it a shot? Oh and yes, I'm still planning a release for next month as well.

Edit: Ok, I'm now signed up as WalkerofShadows. I figure what the heck, it might be fun. Btw, if anyone happens to find what little sanity I have in their travels, kindly chain it up somewhere nice and dark until December and ignore any and all attempts to invite you to come closer

The V3 mask will probably be released tomorrow unless I hear about something going massively wrong before then. It was just a quick beta this time since I want to get it out the door before Halloween.

Now, I've pretty much decided to aim for at least one release per month. It seems like a sane release schedule considering the size of the packs I usually do, but the problem I run into, is having no clue what the heck people would like and actually use. Which for me, seeing how people use stuff is most of the reason I do this and where I get a lot of my fun.

So here's your chance to give me ideas for my project list. I am still learning so some things will unfortunately just be beyond my current skill, but feel free to ask and I'll tell you if it's something I can do or not. Smart props are by far the fastest things for me to do, but don't let that stop you, I Like challenges

Figure wise, I really don't care as long as it's one I have, which is most of the Daz figures except the children. So yes you can ask for things for the men Just keep in mind that I'm not the best at clothing and it pretty much has to be dynamic only right now since I haven't been able to afford the magnet sets for doing morphs yet.

Also, if you notice me post something and mention that it's not purposed, do feel free to ask for it

Ok, few things to update on today.

Danarra: The reports on Danarra have all been quite favorable, and I've quite enjoyed the renders I've seen people do with her. She should be released as a freebie sometime soon, my partner is handling that aspect of things this time since I believe she's going up as a freebie through one of the stores.

Bat Dresser: I've decided that as much as I like it, I'm not going to mass release it basically due to my own pickiness quality wise. If someone wants it, they're free to note me and ask.

A3 BirdMask: The texturing is almost finished, I'll be setting up mat files and maybe seeing if I can get it to fit any of the other characters in the next few days and should have it ready for testers sometime this week.

Think that's it for now

For anyone who saw the Bat Dresser in my scraps and was interested, the DS version is now ready to be tested before I release it. Unfortunately, I'm not going to do a poser version of this prop because the number of mat files would be insane due to the number of parts this prop uses, which would just piss most users off. Will it work in poser? Yes, the paths are all proper(other than runtime is now in a content directory), but it would require doing any material adjustments by hand, though I did set a default one.

Anyone who wants to try it, send me a note as usual

The Danarra project is still in beta. So far I haven't heard of any problems, but I think most haven't had a real chance to play with her yet. Though on a positive note, apparently her body textures work fine in C6 before the patch, no word on whether her prop textures work now that the patch for C6 is out.

Currently working on a rather massive project in between my other ones, you'll see bits of it appearing in my scraps as they're done. As always if you have any requests for freebies you'd like to see, let me know and I'll tell you if it's something I can do or not
Update on Danarra: I'm just waiting to hear from my partner, and then Danarra will be sent on to the testers. LOL I'll warn you now, even split up, it's a big download due to several high res skin textures.

I wonder, is it a bad thing when your freebie character set, between textures and props, is 56 meg?

Yep, that means I have all the files for Danarra now and was just packaging it up. LOL I'll have to split it up differently to try and bring the size down. Somehow I don't think beta testers will like me very much if they have a 56 meg zip or 46 meg sitx file to download in one chunk...Those who want to beta Danarra should get in touch with either myself or RavensDarkAngel77 ASAP.

The V3FaeWings, providing that there's no problem with a morph I put in last night by special request, will probably be released this weekend.

The texture expansion which I've decided will have the two halloween transmaps will probably be ready sometime this week so people have them if they want them for all the halloween contests. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to try and do Carrara shaders seperately so they'll take longer, but the wings work fine in studio and poser.

So far the beta reports on the Faewings have been very good. Seems people like them

No real problems in functionality have been discovered so far, LOL other than discovering that macs don't like my zip files for some reason, but that luckily is remedied quickly enough.

There was a bit of a hiccup with ds mats on one machine, but I haven't been able to reproduce it with other testers yet.

For some reason my mat files won't apply in Cararra 6 but I haven't got a clue why since they work in both poser and Daz Studio without problems. Might be one of the bugs, I haven't got a clue. I may have to seriously start considering doing up seperate materials in C5pro for Cararra and hoping that C6 will like them. Though I'm hoping to just figure out what the glitch is, would save on dev time.

Update on Texture Expansion for the Faewings: For those who haven't seen my comments, yes, texture expansions for the Faewings are coming. I have two new transmaps in my possession already, and have suggested a third which I should have soon(LOL no, not Daz soon) unless something goes wrong. If I can think of one more transmap for them, I'm probably going to split them up into a couple of seperate expansions with two transmaps each(as well as new colors for the new ones and old ones of course) in order to keep file sizes down.

For those who don't want to wait, something you can do, is take any texture tile, especially ones with varying colors, and drop it into the Diffuse channel for each material zone. You'd be surprised how cool they can look, particularly with the Nightmare transmap.

Update on Danarra: I'm now waiting for just one more thumbnail that was my fault because the mat got added last minute as a special request. Once I have that I can do the final assembly and beta testers will get to start playing with her.

Think that's it for now, providing I don't hear about any problems, the wings should be released soon

Thought that since things have reached a point where Beta testers are needed, that I'd explain just how I do things. LOL maybe it will make the lives of those who work with me a little easier. Besides, other modellers might find it useful. Feel free to skip if you're not interested

First step of course, is the idea. Normally it's an idea for a character, since I find it's much much easier to build toys to fit a character, than try to build a character to fit the toys.

Once I have an idea, it's off to look through sketches and see what I have and whether anything will work for that particular character either as is, or with some modification at modelling time. If not, I try begging and looking cute until Eyesofacrow does up some new ones for me

Next of course is the actual modelling. Depending on what I'm building, the actual modelling of most weaponry takes me a couple of hours unless it's something really complex. I use a combination of point by point and edge extrusion to block out the shape, then add thickness, smoothing and tweak until I'm happy with it. I find that doing things this way avoids a Lot of problems that doing weapons by box modelling can create, and has a lower poly count than spline modelling, but everyone has their own preference. My average poly count for more complex weaponry, is usually around 5-6K polys. Wings tend to be much higher, usually around 20K/wing sometimes more depending on the wing style.

LOL now that the fun part is done, it's off to poser to do the setup. A lot of people would do their uvmapping first, but I've found through practice that for me, it's better to do the poser setup first so I'm working with the final model. The reason for this is that often when you're importing to poser, you'll have to tweak scaling as well as normals, then export the model in the new form, so it's just easier to wait. Once I have the new model, I save to poser's library a straight prop, and a smart prop for each hand, then go do the uvmapping. Once that's complete, it's time for text editing

A lot of people would wait until final release time before doing all the text editing that removes geometry from the prop files etc, but I've found that for me, it's better to keep things at a release level right from the start. Besides, is not like it takes long to hand edit

Once all the hand editing is done, and I do some tests to make sure things work, everything gets moved into a proper runtime directory of it's own in my projects directory. I do this for two reasons. One, it makes organising much simpler, and two, it allows me to pack everything up very quickly and know that my directory structure is proper. Which considering the next phase is alpha testing, this is important

Alpha testing for me, is when it gets decided whether a project gets anymore development time or if it gets introduced to the scrapheap. My alpha testers get fully functional set without textures to play with and let me know if they see any obvious problems, especially with uvmapping for the texturists. More importantly though, their job is to look at it and confirm or deny my own thoughts on whether a project should be scrapped. If one says it's useless that's one thing..but if we all agree it sucks, well...back to the drawing board

Providing it survives the alpha testing, the next part after any fixes and once I recieve the textures, is the most monotonous part of the whole process. Mat files...

DazStudio mats I can do, but poser mats is where it just bogs right down for me. I usually generate some basic ones using exporter script from Studio, but those pretty much have to be adjusted to get the best look. LOL this is right about where partners who know poser come in handy. Cause this tends to be when I say "Ok, I've got everything else done but these *insert several minutes of cursing here* poser mats, You fix it!"

After this and thumbnails are done if nicer ones than the default created ones are wanted(Posing isn't my strong suit.I play with things for fun, never said I was Good at it.), it's time for assembly and off to the beta testers, where I get to find out what the gremlins decided to play with. Usually this isn't much since by...
