Today I thought there was school. Apparently there wasn't, so I went back to my house. This particular day my parents left me in charge of the house and so I had the backup house keys they gave me. Guess what? NONE OF THEM WORKED!!!

So I stand around freaking out about how this is gonna be just another wasted day in my life. Then I try one alternative: the garage. It opens - but no, the story's not over yet! - and I try the door inside the garage leading into the house. Rejected!

I come back out feeling horrible. Alternative two: walk to the back of the house, try to find a way in. Nope, all windows are sealed shut.

I walk back to the front. Alternative three: I go to the front window, shift a shutter aside, try to break the primary window pane, then decide against it.

I go back to the front door, which brings us to desperate alternative four, brute force: I take note that the screens in the metal door are adhesive plastic...so I bash the screens in and open the door from the inside! Within moments I am inside! SECURITY BREACHED

I win the game. Everyone share stories about breaking into your own house now!

~Wark.

PS - for any of my closest friends who read this and actually try to break into my house, I took some measures so that even YOU can't try this same method and succeed. Nice try! Muhahahahaha!!!

Today I stayed a little longer after school talking to my friends about the future of my art, then left and started walking back home. As I took the usual route, I saw flashing lights just a few feet across the street from my school. I walked up and found a paramedic van, a sedan, and fire truck surrounding a beige car with a cracked windshield. Cop cars blocked all roads leading into the area.

There was a boy, probably from the middle school, lying on the ground, with police, paramedics, teachers and the assistant principal swarming all over him. His forehead was bandaged, which had probably smashed the windshield when the collision occurred. I couldn't see his condition from the waist down because my view was obstructed by the car that hit him. I didn't know this boy. His eyes were blinking but he seldom moved his arms and didn't utter a word, so I'm assuming he was stunned. The driver was standing off to the side looking really antsy and nervous. A handful of other students were also watching the fixup as we stood on the same street.

The thing about this car crash was that it probably wasn't the driver's fault. Lots of kids cross at that particular intersection even though there are crossing guards on both sides of it, mainly because they want to get home faster. I'm one of the many students guilty of crossing there, of course, but I'm insanely meticulous when it comes to crossing wide-open streets. For me to cross, one of two things MUST occur:

1. Cars are so far away that there's no possible way they can hit me
2. Cars have come to a complete stop in front of me and their drivers are waving me across.

Regardless, when you're crossing like that, you're playing the be-the-lucky-person-to-get-by-a-car-today lottery. And today, somebody got the grand prize, unfortunately.

On a happier yet lamer note, I caught my own 11,111th pageview.
I was browsing a random forum and found an...unsettling bit of news that one of the forum members shared today.

"Yeah. I have the type of brother that likes to keep bugging me nonstop, just to see how mad I get. I can see his reasoning, if he was younger than me, but he's sixteen. Today, he found a story that I wrote for school when I was about six. He found it while I was at football practice and I guess he sat around and waited for me to get home with it, because once he saw me walk in the house, he ran and got it. Anyway, he started to read it to me and I told him to stop multiple times. When that didn't work, I refrained from beating the living crap out of him by telling my mom he was annoying the hell out of me. When she tried to stop him, she tried once, and then went back to watching whatever show she was watching. So my brother kept on with telling me how much he wanted to read the whole story I wrote, and I kept telling him to stop. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good day at school today so I was in a really bad mood, so finally I just decided to push him. He got all mad and looked at me like a penis was growing out of my forhead. He started to (attempt to) hurt me and so I knocked him down and told him to stop. I got off of him (mainly because he started to scream and pull my hair) and he quickly ran to the kitchen counter. I wasn't really sure what he was doing until I saw him grabbing the big wooden thing that you put the kitchen knives in, I think its called a sheath. So he pulled out the biggest knife and started to run at me. Calmly, I lifted up my shirt and told him that I dared him to stab me (I've been in this position before). This whole brawl was really loud, and my dad was asleep. Now my dad always favored my brother so he runs out of his room and immediatly runs at me. He hit me pretty hard and my brother took off running. My mom was yelling that someone has to clean up some kind of mess, and my dad was, I guess, loving the fact that he is able to knock down his fourteen year old son. Then I called my dad an idiot for hitting me, and he hit me again. I told him "Come on tough guy, knock me out" and he just started to swear, as he walked back into his room.

So yeah, just thought I'd share that with you all."

Basically, big bro doesn't respect privacy at all, and dad attacks his younger son out of favoritism despite his older son having a giant kitchen knife in his hand. Messed up? Yes.

What would you do?

~Wark.

Hey guys! Google images for preserved bodies from Pompeii. That is some amazing stuff right there, although a little disturbing. It goes to show the citizens of Pompeii were real people who were killed in a real event in history and weren't just the characters in a story inside a history textbook no one wants to read. I really want to visit Italy one day, if only to see Pompeii in its full glory. Go look at the pictures below! If you have a weak stomach for looking at thousand-year-old dead people, just pretend they're rock statues. Eerily realistic rock statues... oh yeah, and one thing I've learned: listening to heavy metal in the background makes looking at even the the most disturbing stuff a little better. Unless you're watching real footage of someone getting murdered; then that's not cool at all.

Some of the best photos I've seen: [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link]

This last one made me laugh, his expression is so anime-ish. I know it's tasteless to laugh at dead people but I couldn't help myself. Look at the terror on his face: [link]

I wonder if it's even possible to dig through all that crusty hardened lava and attempt an autopsy on one of them. Probably not. It'd be great to learn a bit about what the ancient citizens of Pompeii did in their spare time right before they were buried alive. Imagine if the bodies of a couple hugging and kissing was unearthed. I'd definitely believe that! Then again, the volcano WAS hurling mega-hot ash at them that burnt and killed them, then filled the space around them with plaster to preserve their faces. I doubt they'd have the guts to do anything but run.

On an unrelated note, I encountered an article on e-cigs, the battery powered cigarettes that don't involve any smoke-related health concerns, but still provide the nicotine benefits for cig junkies! And in the long run, they end up saving a lot of money because the liquid (containing flavoring and nicotine) in e-cigs last longer than normal cigs depending on how elongated they are. The "filter" part of each of these e-cigs contains an atomizer, which vaporizes the contained liquid and gives the user a nice buzz without requiring the release of smoke.

This reduces a ton of risks and introduces quite a few conveniences, including eliminating any hazardous secondhand smoke. To quote the article I read, "No ashtray mouth, no yellowed teeth, no tar, no smoke particles. It cannot be set on something and cause a fire. It does not require a lighter to use." You can even use it in smoking-free areas, because, let's face it - you're not releasing any smoke, so technically YOU'RE NOT SMOKING!

To wrap up, a lot of people who have bought e-cigs confirm that they like it and have been experienced improved breathing since they started usage.

You can read the full article here: [link]

I didn't get too close at first, because you know how temperamental bees, yellow jackets and hornets can be, they don't calm down and work things out with you if you piss them off. But I stayed around and watched it crawl around. Every so often it would preen itself with its front legs over its head, like a cat, and then do a little handstand to preen its abdomen with its back legs. It would also periodically open its wings, but then close them and continue crawling around. The whole time I was looking at it, it had not flown or maybe no longer had the ability, despite having two albeit floppy-looking wings.

After five minutes its crawling slowed and it stayed there preening itself. I turned around and continued walking home, but then something caught my eye. It was another bumblebee, but this one had been long dead. You can tell when they've been dead for awhile because they're covered with grit and all scrunched up.

I think it's bumblebee dying season.

~Wark.

Hi! You know, I love Saturdays because they give me time to kick back, relax and think about my game plan for the next week.

Next week school will begin. I'm not really looking forward to it, but I see it as a necessity to my progression, so it's good in some ways. I don't know about you guys but I have this thing where I'll absolutely love it when something new or different happens, but after a while it gets old and I'll want to try something else - and I'll get annoyed if I can't! Imagine if every two weeks of school you get one week of break. If that was the case, I would never hate school. Honest.

Anyway, I said in a previous entry that I would talk about people who had been shot; specifically those who I've met during my summer internship. Well the first guy was a young ex-Marine who had two dark gray bruise rings in his back where the bullets had hit him. He told us the whole cause of the incident was stupidity. His sergeant was supposed to tell all the troops to flip their safeties on, but didn't. So while they were in training, trekking through nasty swamplands, a trooper behind him slips and BA-BA-BANG. Luckily our friend was wearing Kevlar.

The second guy I met had been caught in the middle of an urban shootout back in the 90s. The bullet entered his calf and exited via the upper part of the shin. He's extremely lucky that it didn't touch his kneecap, or he'd be limping around for life.

I thought that was cool. So now that I've shared some stories with you, write back and tell me what you think, and I'll see you soon!

~Wark.

Hi! So yesterday I was at the library after a week of aforementioned business and just having chats with the staff there. You see, I've been a regular at that library for years and after a month of disappearance I decided to pop in and tell them I'm back.

After talking to them I see this girl I've never seen before in my life sitting at a table reading a book. Usually I know the regulars who stop by to get books and use library computers, so I figured she was new to the area. I go up to her and this is how things went:

Me: Hi, I've never seen you before, did you just move here?
Her: ...no...
Me: Oh, really? How long have you been here?
Her: ...three years...
Me: Oh ok. What's your name?
Her: (mumbles incoherently, but I don't want to make this even more awkward by saying I didn't hear her)
Me: (nods) Oh, cool. My name is (censored by the US government for your safety). What grade are you in?
Her: Seventh. (Let me tell you something, girls grow up FAST. If I hadn't asked her I would've assumed she was in high school!)
Me: Oh alright. Well it's nice meeting you. (forcibly walks away)

See the pains I go through just to get to know people? The whole time she replied to me she was practically whispering. What is this?! I would have told her to raise her voice a little but I didn't want to sound rude or increase the level of awkwardness. GRAAAH! The thing with people like that is, trying to get to know them is like conducting a rather stiff interview. I guess I tend to get along better with people who respond enthusiastically, because by Josh, they make things a whole lot easier for me.

What should I say the next time I see her?

~Wark.

At the end of summer, there's always that one thing that crosses everybody's mind right when they're about to go back to work/school/army: "What?! That was too short! Make it longer!"

I haven't been blogging lately because I've been busy. Real busy. Let me give you examples:

- Busy killing myself at Six Flags riding insane coasters with my uncle (actually, I enjoyed it very much albeit a slight headache at the end of each one...I never got those before after rides, I must be getting <strike>old</strike> young.)

- Busy keeping on the tail of a medical doctor who thinks he's an Olympic track runner at a humongous hospital. Basically I shadowed him for experience in the health field.

- Busy seeing patients in a medical doctor's private practice. Man they talk a lot, especially the repeat patients. But you know what, it was fun. We discussed the most random things. All the patients whom were construction workers warned me to never follow in their footsteps, because every single one came in for pain medication. So therefore, I warn YOU to work hard in school and not have to be forced into a predicament where YOU have to become a construction worker! You'll regret it. Honest. The construction workers themselves say so. I also met some patients who had been shot, but that's another story - I'll tell you more if you guys demand it.

- Busy studying for the SAT. I...dislike this standardized test. I think I will have to swear allegiance to the ACT instead, because apparently everyone I know who can't cut it with the SAT has done phenomenally better on the ACT. Lovely right? I thought so too. I just need to register for it and find out more info.

- Busy visiting colleges. I hit about four. I think that's a good number for a three-day road trip. I can imagine how band members must feel on their way to concerts all over the country.

- Busy nursing my kneecap, which I banged hard on a radiator while I was passing it. I iced it really fast. So far there is no exterior bruising and there is only a dull fire pulsating beneath the skin. Don't worry I'll be alright. I hope. Wonder if there's any cartilage left.

So how you doing?

~Wark.

Many of them have a feature that allows you to see the step by step process that the artist takes in creating their...creation. It's pretty cool I think. I might be able to learn a lot from this. Why don't you guys try it?

Um... I haven't pulled out my tablet since last Satur - no, longer than that - I think it was last Monday? Geez. I need to practice my coloring more. To improve my color theory.

From what I've seen so far, drawing can sure be painstaking. It can be a long process including hours of rough sketching, then outlining, and filling in the gaps with colors. Not too different than what I've been doing so far. I keep getting this idea that drawing should come easy to you after years of intensive continuous sketching - probably because I'm looking at Steven Sanchez's video clips and marveling at how he can get five or more pretty proportionate cleanly sketched bodies on one piece of paper in less than five minutes. Or maybe it's because most of the community at the site are amateur doodlers... who knows, I'll figure it out as I go along.

This should be an eye-opening experience though.

Oh and yeah, as for you guys who use Hamachi, isn't that kind of something similar to this? You get to chat with artists and draw on the same artwork in real time? Weird. Kind of like Paintchat or Groupboard or something. Weird but still cool.

~Wark.

Some of the guys kept throwing out stupid, unthought-out answers to her questions and irritating my teacher. I wasn't one of them. Finally, she snapped and yelled at us, like, "That is IT! You're being ridiculous and you're going to PAY for it!" Then she opened up a workbook and assigned us eight whole sections of homework, all due tomorrow, and changed our quiz on Thursday to a test that counts twice. "Why don't you guys teach yourselves," she snapped. "You don't know how to do half the material in those sections. Good luck. WORK." And everyone in class was like "......." I think they were too shocked to speak.

Meanwhile, I took a page from Jasper (amiko16's character) and smiled through the whole catastrophe while the original Mario Bros theme song innocently repeated in my head. You'd be surprised how harmless a bad situation feels when videogame music is playing through your head. XD

Later in the day I had a free, so I went back to her classroom and joined her Block D class. They were wondering if I was part of their new class. I sat in the back for fifteen minutes before my teacher noticed me, asking, "Why are you here?" I replied, "to learn." Her eyes lit up, and she said, "Aha!" LOL! So she let me stay. Luckily for me, the class I walked into had been doing the new material for two days and was now reviewing, so I got a full summary of everything I was supposed to know. <3 I think I'll be fine. I just need to memorize some stuff.

Lesson: If there's a glaring problem, neutralize it while lowering your stress level in an interesting way.

~Wark.

A guy by the alias of made a dA forum thread entitled "Women do not belong in politics". However, not only did he express his own disapproval of that topic, but he even blames females for the decline of humankind. It is inferred he was unloved as a child and during his teenage years.

"These irrational, pseudo-sentient life forms have done naught but sap the life out of intellectual and powerful men over the last hundred years or so, and we men have made the mistake of brainwashing ourselves to believe that these succubi are actual people. Their whole kind are nothing more than tools for procreation, unfit to live without a patron's approval."

I praise his use of vocabulary and good prose, but he needs to focus his essay talent somewhere more meaningful, wouldn't you agree?

He continues his case by blaming women for the decline of teenage lifestyles and the success of various TV channels:

We now have what has to be the stupidest couple of generations since the Salem witch trials. We no longer have great philosophers; we no longer have great authors. We have become a nation glued to MTV and teenNICK. Remember G4TV? That's pretty much all of America at this point. And for God's sake, just look at our teenagers. What have we done to let our youth become so terribly corrupted and utterly stupid? To quote Chuck Palahniuk, "We are a generation of men raised by women". We have indeed let ourselves be led astray by the foolish little minds of women."

What I have to say to this guy is, men were not the only ones in power, not the only influential leaders, back in ancient days. Look at how well Hatshepsut did as queen of Egypt. Yes, it is true that mankind was once male-dominated. But with that domination came jerks like Hitler, Stalin, Attila the Hun, Mao Zedong, Benito Mussolini, and Nero. He CAN'T tell me with a straight face that men are far better leaders of the human race. The truth is, good and bad leaders come and go randomly. There's no way to pinpoint where they originate from, because the great and the idiotic all come in different shapes, sizes, races, genders, you name it.

Read his hilarious nonsense in its entirety here: [link]

~Wark.

P.S. Imagine, just for a moment, if his thread had actually been well recepted, and a great multitude of people had agreed with him. What do you think would've happened from there on? Discuss.

If you know of an original comic or manga on DA that's not listed here, post a link to the comic's chapter index (or its first page or its own gallery section) along with its title and I will update this with it.

- Fancomics/doujinshi keep out! Rawr.

- If you are suggesting a yaoi/yuri manga, please mention if it has mature themes! Actually, mention in general if the suggested comic has mature themes.

- It is highly preferred that the suggested comic have Next/Previous links. If the comic has its own standalone gallery section and a first page, it will still be accepted. If not, then it won't be accepted.

- If your pages are not numbered, it has much less of a chance of being accepted.

- If you want to suggest your own comic but you upload most of it outside of DA, just upload at least the first ten pages (make sure they're linked) of your comic and put a link to the main website at the end of the last page. Then take the first page's link and post it here. That will work too.

- Please note me about any broken/wrong links~!

Just close your eyes and point randomly at the list. This image falls within a long and unfortunate history of people mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent.”

“Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans,” said George Wu, executive director of OCA. “The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable.”

My response to this, as an Asian myself, is, Who Cares? Miley is a nice person! If she wants to tease and have a little fun, let her! We are America. We should have the ability to laugh at ourselves and still get along by the end of the day.
Yesterday I officially got my guitar, amp, and other gear at 6:10 PM. Together, they sound wonderful. I have the right effects to play anything from acoustic to metal variety.

Guitar: Ibanez RG120 (black)
Amp: Line 6 Spider III 15W

<strike>I also have a really nice, durable gig bag to fit the guitar in. However, I forgot to buy a guitar strap and tuner. >__> Oh well. Maybe later. I also need to figure out a way to bring the amp to and from school...what if it rains? And it is HUGE, man. D: Any suggestions?</strike>

-----update 2/9/09------

I went back to the store yesterday and bought a nice strap and tuner. I also asked for the tremolo that the salesman forgot to give me along with the guitar. I would've gone on to get some effects pedals, but I figured enough was enough until I could learn to play decently.

Also, yesterday I decided to try Drop D tuning, but forgot about it and tried retuning back to standard E. Then I stopped because I thought the string was going to snap, and I tuned it back some more. It took me half an hour to realize I had been doing it right all along. =__=

I also named my guitar Debra. I might draw her "humanoid form" sometime if you guys want! I envision it to kind of be like a soul reaper's zanpakuto, for lack of a better way to describe it.

~Wark.

Hi guys. I looked through my gallery again today, through all my old Supafly pages, and the small handful of new Supafly pages I've completed so far.

That made me wonder: what does everyone else think Supafly actually is? I've yet to show much of its plot and characters to anyone.

So I'm asking you what you think Supafly is, who its characters are, and what you think the plot is. This is deathly important to me, because it tells me if I'm conveying the characters and ambience of the story in the way I intended. Then I'll be able to reshape the comic in a way that both I and all of you will lurve.

Thanks so much, guys! -_^

~Wark.

P.S.: BTW, Supafly has practically NEVER been on hold, at least not the concept art, scripting, and independent research I've been doing to couple the story with. Even when I'm busy with homework, I'm thinking how it could be applied to Supafly. (I know, it's pretty nuts.) So don't ever think I gave up on it! I'm following through with it soon, no matter what!
