Ok to some of you it doesn't sound that important

but to me it is!

Thursday late at night, I was looking at small collages in CT hoping to find some kind of summer art program (hoping it would be better the what happened a couple weeks ago *grumble* but thats a differ story, if you all wanna hear it its a long rant)and at one of the collages they were doing a open portfolio review on Saturday! So after school Friday (after panicking all day at school) i printed out some of my animal drawings, some photoshop things i did when i was bored (i might upload them later) and my linolium prints (again might upload later, i believe *babydragon11 has hers in her gallery)and slapped them in a portfolio book.

As you can see, i didn't have that much time (although some might dissagree) cuz i only had friday night to make it cuz i had to help my aunt out with my cousin's b-day party from the time i woke up till i had to leave for the review

On a side note for all who dont know my bro, hes probably the worst critic there is, i think hes worst then that guy on Americen idol, so living with him my whole life im pretty immune to any insult there is to my art (which is why you all should critique my art ><

Ok, so we get to the extremly small collage and went to the place there where doing the reveiw. And the guy seems nice enough (which mind you i found out later hes not the "love your art" kind of guy) and the FIRST thing he says is im pretty young to do this (*grumble*) but he does say after going through the portfolio it was very mature

EXCEPT he kindof went on a small rant because i did a photoshop copy of sora from Kingdom hearts and he sees him in like EVERY portfolio (so being a smart ass, after he was about to go on a second rant about it i took it out of the porfolio to shut him up

so much for me being mature)

So heres some stuff i learned:

Put only like 12 things in the portfolio (i had like 30

)

Go from worst drawing to best in the portfolio

Have a introduction (like your name, quick paragraph on what is in the portfolio, stuff like that on the first page)

DO NOT PUT FAMOUS CHARACTERS IN THERE

DONT TALK unless told to (cuz every time i said something or did something he attacked me)

Put some real drawings in there not all scan copies

I think it was funny cuz i think he was trying to make me cry cuz he mentioned 2 or 3 times that he wouldn't be suprised if some of his students broke down crying in the middle of class.

Overall he liked my art and if i wasn't a souphmore i would probably be excepted

. But its a small school like 300 students a year or something so idk if it means anything

So i probably will be doing allot of these portfolio review things in the near future. i just though it would be nice for you all to know im alive^^

Im sorry I haven't been on in forever schools been tough (again) and i havn't goten anything done... or atleast anything good done...
I have 3 things to do:
1.Person riding a clysdale(working on it... looks like crap)
2. A cat
3. A dog
both 2 and 3 are gifts to people so i HAVE to do good on them...

idk how long they'll take due to my stressful life right now but i have to try to get the dog done by the end of the month...

anyways i still havnt gotten my stuff yet but its coming soon i hope

ugh i havnt drawn in FOREVER! but once i get my stuff ill get right to it i also did this chalk competition thingy last week and got in 3rd place and won $35 ok there was like 5 people in the contest and maybe itll be enough to get more art supplies Oh! and ive been painting! after millions of paint samples i FINALLY picked a color for my room but that not very important

Sry everyone, ive been so busy i havnt drawn at all. the moving company is getting my stuff TOMARROW(Friday)! when they were suppose to come MONDAY! so im not in a good mood....

Ill be gone for a week or so, actually probably less, not till monday atleast and all my drawing stuff is packed

the "havnt drawn" is a lie... i did draw, i drew a person, but it was so bad (in my eyes and probably to everyone else) i riped it up at threw it away yes, it was that crappy... and im in depression because im afraid if i draw it'll come out the same....

plus im tired. i can barly keep my eyes open

so ill talk to u all when im moved and settled except now that i think of it... im painting my room so i might not unpack till next weekend... unless i start dying from not being on the internet

half the stress is gone now! but nows a new stress our family is movin actually its pretty exciting cuz were movin to my great grandma (who passed away like 2 yrs ago)'s old, 100 yr, house(which is across the country) and i get to do the remodeling so i might be busy with choosing colors and flooring and decorations and furniture for all 14 rooms

I'm going to find my drawing stuff and hopefully start dawing today! im thinkin about drawing a bear

I was dying of heat in tampa so i think my mood fits quiet well ^^

Busch Gardens was so much fun! we got there when it opened (9am) and headed right to the animals. the only bad thing about that is that they all were sleeping! those lazy animals were sound asleep when we got there! the good thing is that the didn't move much ^^ so i got the shetch them

The drawings i did there didn't come out good i basically did a line art and shaded when i got home. when i finish this journal i'll upload them into scraps so check by there to see them,

I drew a sleeping female lion, a sleeping spotted hyena, and a hippo that was swimming

The shading stinks, mostly because i used a small 5.5" x 8.5" sketch book compared to my usual large 9" x 12" sketch book so the strokes of the animals are bigger then they should be

I'm going to visit some relatives in Tampa they might even take me to Bush Gardens!
if you don't know what Bush Gardens is, its a zoo/amusement park^^ My brothers go on the roller coasters, while i can take many pictures of there african animals (Bush Gardens Tampa, Florida is African theme park) and may be i'll bring my sketch book and practice drawing without a picture^^

Hi

I had a great time at the Red hills horse trials. one of the best things is that while i was there, there were 2 artists selling their work!!! They gave me great ideas! 1 said that i should try not using pictures and do action pictures (i have no idea what its called but its when you draw what you see insead of a pic) and the other recomended that i stop at a zoo and draw what i see there maybe next weekend i can convice my mom to take me to a zoo or something
I also emailed one of the artists my DA because she wanted to see my art so i hope she likes it

I got lots of pics and i might do what did with the eyes and put them on one deviation^^

And i'm half way done with the squirrel

Unfortunatly i don't feel well CURSE YOU POLLEN!

I told you the criticism will help
I can't believe it! during the FCAT ( a test that you take to see what classes you have next year) won't let you draw once your done!!!! and i will finish in 25 mins and i'll have 35 min left! and theres 4 FCAT tests that are 60mins each they think you're going to copy down the questions and use it for next time.... idk why i'm so mad about it.. but for that 35 mins i decided to rant about the "no writing" rule all over our FCAT book. and then i crossed out everywhere in the book where it mentioned "FCAT" and wrote "FDOG" and the ocational "FSQUIRREL" and we have the NRT tomarrow (Norm Referance Test) ANOTHER TEST!

anyways....

I was talking to my mom about my art skills and she was telling me somthing about how its because i'm artistic and really good in math at the same time (which i disagree with...) she said something about math is on one side of the brain and art is on the other side..... but that why she thinks i'm really good with perpotions. idk... what do u think?

YES NO MORE DRAWING BLOCK!!! sorry i've had a drawing block for quiet a while, almost 3 weeks and i think its gone....

No school next week! But this week I have 4 tests and the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) its a test to tell the schools what classes i should take next year(example: honors math classes or regular math classes) its really easy but before the teachers freak out. But it will be over after this week so due these test i might not be able to draw today.... studying But i'll probably find some time

BECAUSE I NEED IMPROVEMENT!
if you have looked at my older drawings... well... they sucked. they needed lots of improvement, and my drawings still need improvement. i WANT to be critized! i want to know what i did wrong and what i should do next time! Sure i like the "looks great"s and the "awesome"s but there not going to help me! Constructive criticism is the best way for me to improve!
So next time i put a drawing up, please critize its the only way i can improve (besides practice that is...)
Without some of your criticism i would still be drawing like my older drawings so.... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've finally decided.... I'm going to do comissions i know its a big step, and i'm not expecting many people to want my art, but i'm going to give it a try^^ i talked to my parents and they think its a great idea (if i keep my grades up)

So this is how i think i'm going to do it(please tell me if you think you have a better way )

If you want me to draw you something please note me, giving linking me a picture or describing a certain animal(or person, but i'm not good with them)give me a due date (1 or 2 week deadline nothing shorter please) and your email, or i'll upload it on DA for you to see if you don't want me to know your email^^

You and i will decide a price (depending on how good it is) and then i would like you to mail me the money first, you can trust me to mail you the drawing^^ ask anyone i know, i would never take you money and not send you my drawing.

i'm so excited about this(even though i know i won't get any commissions) i just makes me feel like you like my art

Ok, so if you people have noticed i put a panda drawing called "good bye"
well, in one of my previous journals i typed that i had only a few pages left in my sketch book
"Hello" a panda i did a long time ago (in the back of my gallery) is the same picture i used for "good bye" Hello was my first drawing in my sketch book, goodbye was my last (beside my doodle page ) so do you think i have improved?

Home sweet home
i already miss the cold its too hot in Florida i was dissapointed that it didn't snow in Connecticut

anyways... i didn't get much done i was really busy but atleast i did the first animal challenge drawing

NO!!!!!!!!! School starts tomarrow i don't feel relax at all!
oh well... its not like i get a choice.

i hope this semester will be better then last semester

Yay! i got my brothers computer to connect to the internet at the hotel

um.. i came on... 100 journals.... i'm not going to be able to finish them all so if one of your journals had something important please tell me^^ sorry

right now its -7 degrees here in Connecticut!!!
lets see.... this is what happened since this friday:

Saturday and Sunday:
2 days of driving with my 2 brothers and my mom (fun) luckly there was a tv in the car so the boys didn't bother me that much

Monday:
i went to my cousins house(2 girls 3 and 5 years old)

Tuesday:
i went to my great grandmas house(she passed away last year(2006)) and found a really dusty lion print! i cleaned it and im taking it home and hanging it in my bedroom i'm going to take a picture of it and upload it on DA as soon as i get home^^

Wednesday:
nothing really, hang out in the hotel doing nothing

Today:
i'm not feeling well, too tired to draw at the moment

Tomarrow:
started heading back to Florida, 2 more days of driving, fun

1. do you think i should put some of my older work up? I found some things i did in 3rd grade... Its the same year i did the wolf, the panther, and the hut + sunset that are in pastels(under paintings in my gallery)... there not bad, but not good...

2. If i was to sell my art, Would you buy them?

not many questions but they are imporant to me so please tell me the truth^^ it won't hurt my feelings if you said no to any of these^^
