Well, never mind that… it doesn't apply anymore because I going to quit that job in December as my internship will be over, hopefully before Christmas.

As you have seen, I've made a big effort to avoid neglecting my girls despite my job, because even though it's a bit demanding I've been able to sketch some of my current drawings (from July up to now) while on my office. And yes, my boss knows that I do it and for him, it doesn't matter as long as I don't neglect my other activities. Thank god he has been a great guy, though hard to understand at times. Maybe he wants me to get used to a job as soon as possible as to avoid having problems later.

Other curious thing… I've been starting to divorce from Japan lately. No new animes to recommend, unless I find they have a really nice pretty girl to make them worth watching. The only remainders I still have are some t-shirts I've ordered and that have nice anime girls on them, cosplay hats, and music by Yousei Teikoku (which I'd die for if they sung in French instead of Japanese).

Next, I'm almost done with my drawing schedule for this year, with only a couple of them pending to finish and submit. And believe me, they will be as good as they have been, anyways I still recommend Mari Fer crying

What are they going to be about? Sorry I can't tell you! Remember that they're a surprise until it's released

Finally, it's very likely that 2010 will be a great year for me, for reasons I'll reveal later. What about you? Do you think next year will be great for you?

Today (if you still read it today) it was the the last day of my life as I've known it up to now.

No, I'm not graduating from college yet (still 3 semesters remain), nor am I moving from my current home or taking another trip like last year to Canada, or planning to quit my drawings.

As the title says, I'm going to start with my first serious job, formally and full time, in an established company during the rest of the year. At least I've been on vacation for the last two months, so it's not kind of a big deal to start over.

Nothing is going to happen with college, don't worry. In fact I'm having this job thanks to an agreement they make with local companies, where instead of attending lectures and taking exams like a normal student does, you work full time during the semester and it counts as credits to revalidate the subjects you'd have taken in August.

Despite this change, I'll try to do my best to keep drawing. Now perhaps I'll be launching new drawings every second week, instead of weekly, since I'm going to have less free time. But everything depends on how tired and inspired I return home from the job and if my parents exploit me less than before as a result.

And when I finish this internship... well, to be explained later as it comes closer.

Hoy (si es que lo alcanzaste a leer hoy) fue el último día de mi vida tal y como la he conocido hasta hoy.

No, no me estoy graduando (me faltan 3 semestres), ni mudando, ni viajando como el año pasado a Canadá ni pensando en renunciar a mis dibujos. Nada de eso.

Como dice el título, voy a empezar con mi primer trabajo formal, serio y de tiempo completo en una empresa establecida durante el resto del año. Bueno, al menos he estado de vacaciones y sin hacer mucho estos últimos dos meses, así que no está de más hacer algo para no aburrirme.

No se preocupen, no va a pasar absolutamente nada con la universidad. De hecho estoy teniendo este puesto gracias a un acuerdo que se hace con empresas locales, para que en vez de estudiar trabajes por un semestre y se te revalida como las materias que hubieras llevado en agosto.

Voy a hacer todo lo posible para mantenerme dibujando, a pesar del cambio. Ahora quizá los esté subiendo cada 15 días, en vez de cada semana, puesto que tendré menos tiempo libre. Pero todo dependerá de qué tan cansado regrese a casa después de trabajar, y si mis papás me explotan menos que antes.

Y cuando termine la estadía... bueno, lo explicaré cuando llegue su debido tiempo.

Here's my story. As of yesterday and because of the damn swine flu alert, all classes in Mexico were suspended until May 6th. At first I thought "oh nooooo...", as May 6th was our last day before the finals. Fortunately, when we received the university's newsletter, we were comforted that despite the cancelled classes, they won't be reprogrammed and the finals will continue as they were originally scheduled, except the one that I was having tomorrow.

Thank God! As a friend said yesterday, it seems that the only good thing swine flu brought is not to meet again with our "favorite" professor If classes were continuing normally, I'd had to start making myself the idea to wear a suit ON MY BIRTHDAY, just for a lame presentation with him. And no, I don't like to wear a suit, not yet, and much less on my birthday unless I were working for a big company.

Now I just hope that the alert don't produce the following:
-Keep myself and my friends from meeting on my birthday. Yes, I don't want to be alone on that day, or worse, with nothing to do. Perhaps next year I won't be able to meet as I plan to do now.
-Close the borders. The news say that it doesn't work, now just keep your word guys
-Make the USD exchange rate go nuts again. It went up yesterday but I hope it calms down for the rest of the week and goes down again Yes, I plan to go to McAllen this weekend, that's why I'm concerned about the border and the exchange rate.

When is my birthday coming, for those who don't know? April 30 (children's day in Mexico), so if you want to draw something for me or at least say happy birthday, you're welcome. There won't be contest like last year, sadly. It's too late to call for one unless I make a later deadline. Maybe you're holding your comments to this journal because you want to wait for that day

SPANISH: Qué tanto ha influido la alerta influenza en tu vida?

Pues esta es mi historia. Ayer y gracias a la alerta, se suspendieron las clases en todo México hasta el 6 de mayo. Primero me quedé "mmta madre..." pues el 6 era nuestro último dia de clases antes de finales. Pero lo bueno es que cuando nos enviaron el comunicado de la universidad, nos dijeron que a pesar de la suspensión, las clases perdidas no se van a reponer y los finales se quedarán como estaban programados en un principio, excepto el que tenía mañana que sí se cambió.

Con madre! Y como una amiga dijo ayer: lo único bueno que deja la influenza es no volver a ver a nuestro profe "favorito" Si las clases no se hubieran suspendido, tendría que estarme haciendo la idea de que para MI CUMPLE, iba a tener que presentar con él, de traje. Y no, no me gusta usar traje, todavía no, y menos en mi cumple a menos que ya estuviera trabajando en un lugar donde me lo piden.

Ahora, namas espero que la alerta no friegue mis planes:
-Impida que mis amigos y yo nos juntemos para mi cumple. Pues porque no quiero pasármela solo o peor, sin hacer nada en ese día. Y tal vez el próximo año no podré juntarme como lo pienso hacer ahora.
-Cierre las fronteras. Ya en las noticias dicen que no, porque no les conviene, ahora mantengan su palabra cabrones
-Que el tipo de cambio del dólar vaya para arriba otra vez. Asi pasó ayer, pero espero que esos centavos que "engordó" los baje en el transcurso de la semana. Sí, como voy a McAllen este fin, lo de la frontera y lo del dólar me preocupan.

Y cuándo es mi cumple? Este 30 de abril (día del niño en México), así que si me quieren dibujar algo o al menos pasar a saludar, ya sabes que lo recibiré con gusto. No habrá concurso porque no lo pensé con tiempo, y ya es tarde para organizar uno a menos que dure más. Igual y por eso se están aguantando en comentar este journal, eh?

I could have made this question earlier but I wanted to wait more in order to let my girls have a better positioning around, which might not be as high as I'd like but at least enough to be known by the people who has liked them. So well:

Who of them has(have) been your favorite(s) so far, and why? Do you think, as a matter of critique, there's one in which I need to work more as a character? Let me know. Don't worry if you don't comment that frequently or at all, or if you've just added me to your devwatch, if you've been looking at them for a while there should be one or several who catch your eye more than others

Also you might be interested to have a look to the right side of my journal page, if you want to learn a bit more about them apart from what you see on my drawings. Perhaps it won't change your mind about who's your favorite but at least will let you get to know them better too.

Of course, if you have your own characters I strongly recommend you to make one of this, especially if you're serious in your work towards them, as it's a very helpful resource that could answer most FAQs about them. You guys got me GROUNDED

I can't believe why such a journal can be commented enough to reach the today page. It talks about how she stayed up overnight checking the 500+ messages she got on a previous journal, slept in and missed school (including her favourite class haha), to finally get mad with her mom about why she couldn't wake her up and calling her an I don't know what and ultimately getting her grounded.

Then I got curious to find out how she got the so called 500+ messages and looked at her gallery. What did I found? A lame 27-page comic (in both plot and visual appeal) about how some characters from Full Metal Alchemist became furries. Wow, such a masterpiece and original idea! Look at it:



But no, those messages couldn't come from here because the individual pages from that comic hardly ever have any comments or faves. So I went back to her journals. They were the source of such messages. But the themes of her journals weren't the most interesting of all, instead they're filled of teen angst and the like, good enough to attract trolls and generate lulz. Here they are together with their approximate comment count:

1. Complaining about why plz accounts were getting so many watchers if they aren't even been used, relative to what she was getting (67). Looks like her art is so wonderful even for what she's getting now.


2. Bitching because she got the worst fucking christmas presents ever, including that the Xbox 360 is a... negative gift? (326). But you at least got something so be thankful instead!


3. Apologizing for the previous one, including how people got mad at her for it (17). Well played, bitch!


4. Trying to find out why she wasn't having her period on time (560+). Oh wow, so interesting!


5. And the one that I found on the today page (150+). What a big surprise she'll get when she returns because of all the lulz she's creating.

So what do you think? Is that how we want our dA community to become, full of drama instead of art?

According to me, 2008 was one of the best years I've ever had. If I had to pick its most memorable events, I'd have to mention without any doubt my two international trips: to Canada on summer, and to Panama on mid-October, more less after submitting Be quiet, Sita sleeps. Both of these trips left me great memories, with myself and my friends, and I'd expect that they were the first of their kind in the years to come during and after college. And not to mention the events we organized as members of the student union for our major in logistics, which resulted in an award for the best organized events of this fall semester.

Well, back to dA business-- what??? OK, while I'll still keep my usual policy of not revealing plans for future drawings, maybe today I'd make a small exception for a rough guideline of what I plan to make:

• Series following a specific theme, such as a particular outfit, situation, time of the year, etc. Maybe it can help you to learn a bit more about my girls by looking how each of them perceives something


• The opposite of Big girls group with the other 4 girls


• Groups consisting on: my favourite characters from several anime series, my girls and why not? maybe a third one with yours

But their dates are still to be kept secret However, you might expect my first drawing of the new year for next week since it's already sketched.

So that was my 2008 in a few events and my forecasted deviantart plans for the new year. How was your year and what do you expect 2009? And of course, I'd like to wish everybody a happy new year and that everything you plan for it comes true

This means, yeah, that they aren't as commented or faved as before, yet they're still made by heart and with love as I've always done.

After looking a bit in depth, those drawings that I'm talking about usually feature an ordinary scene, such as the latest ones with Ludy making Mari Fer's hair or Shannon and Flora walking with the shopping bags. And they're full of details that make them worth commenting, but it seems it didn't work well on these ones... In contrast, those drawings where there's only one character doing nothing, such as Nuria sitting on the wall, are more commented, even though I don't expect them to be as interesting as the scenes. Will it be that these ones usually draw more attention than those where the characters are clearly doing something, even outside my gallery?

But of course, this doesn't mean I want to be flooded with one-word comments like "aww, cute" or similar, there's usually more beyond the simple cute! And are hard to reply too...

I'm also concerned for the lack of critique on them, especially when the comment count is low, which I think it presents the best opportunity to get a good critique and consider it for my next drawings. But, if there's no critique, then I can hardly ever find where to improve.

Acccording to me, critique is not only something like "try to clean those lines" or "pay attention to the light source" but also suggesting me new themes, so that my stuff don't sound too boring. However, I can't promise I'll honor one that suggests me to make new characters or replace my girls with other themes, because my girls is what has and will continue to move me to make my drawings, unless they're requests from someone else.

Still two more drawings to finish the year! The last one will be Christmas related, and I'll promise it will be fun.

Maybe this topic is more suitable for the forums, but since I think it's time to change the journal (especially to stop thinking about Canada) I'll put it here instead.

So yesterday, Apple presented and launched the new 4th gen. iPod nano. I was awaiting this update in order to replace my dear 3-year old mini which started to fail during my trip, it still works but I need to apply a special trick to start it and the battery doesn't last more than 5 hours. And well, maybe the design isn't brand new because it's pretty much like the 2nd gen nano but with a much larger screen and available in more colors (the same plus orange, yellow and purple).

As of the capacity and price, it's exactly as I expected: 8 GB for $149 or 16 GB for $199. Makes me feel nostalgic to remember that in 2005, my 4 GB mini costed $199, while today I can get the same iPod for the same price with 4 times the original capacity! Good that my songs will still fit in the 8 GB nano, though no longer in my old mini, so it's great if you have less than 3,000 songs and a few videos.

But there's something I don't like that much and maybe not that I don't like it, but perhaps I won't be able to enjoy: the playing view giving a lot of emphasis to the album artwork. I have over 850 songs, most of them coming from compilations of different styles like new age, instrumental, dance, trance, techno... instead of single-artist or group albums. So my cover flow view is mostly a bunch of plain black squares with the purple note in the middle. And most of that artwork is hard to get, either because that CD was never sold outside Mexico or because compilations usually have plain artworks. Can Apple expect us to get ALL of our music from the iTunes store? Even if I can afford the dollar per song, there's no iTunes store in Mexico by now... This problem also appears with the iPod touch and iPhone. Maybe I can solve it by adding some pictures and pass them as artwork but... it's too much work for many songs.

But anyways, I'm definitely getting one. Just that it's hard to choose from one of those 9 colors; maybe I'll take the green, yellow or orange one. What about you? Which iPod nano color do you prefer? Or you prefer a different iPod?

It's said that everything that starts eventually comes to an end, sometimes we wait very eagerly for that to finish (like an exam or school term), but there are times as well when you enjoy it so much, you want it to continue, like my trip to Canada. So this Saturday, we'll head very early to Toronto for our flights back to Mexico, therefore it will be the end of it, the end of a month full of awesome and interesting experiences and returning to my daily life down in hot and boring Tampico, but I feel that the trip itself is the first of many more that I'd like to make in the coming years.

To make it easier, I decided to thank each individual place or situation instead of a general "Thanks Canada", since there's so much to tell and each place presented a different experiences. Let's thank...

-Cities-

...North Bay, for being our home during this last month, and for allowing us to experience Canada within its limits and learn how Canadian cities are managed from the business and public works point of view. Definitely it was a nice choice, very green and peaceful (though a bit boring on weekends) and easy to understand how it works as a city because perhaps a larger one would result too complex. And also to let me experience my usual winter in advance and to learn that even though we felt it a bit chilly this is still warm for Canadians.

...highways 17-417 and autoroute 40 (the road between NB-Ottawa-Montréal), for being well maintained and a pleasure to travel along on, but especially for giving me an optimum experience while listening to my favorite trip tunes.

...Montréal, for receiving me a second time and for allowing me to experience a city where neither Spanish nor English is the first language (though many people do speak English). Perhaps I was slightly disappointed for the short time (same as in TO) I was there, but definitely, it rocks as a city; perhaps now I understand why it was for a long time Canada's number 1 city before Toronto took its place. And for being the only place where I used the subway.

...Ottawa, for that very interesting Parlament tour, even though I already knew a few facts about Canadian history I never expected to go into such places like the Senate and to learn why is the Parlament built as it is. And also for another Canada Day there... no more words for it.

...Toronto, because this time I did visit it though for a very short time. I believe that without CN Tower, its skyline definitely wouldn't be the same. And also for the multicultural experience, it must be really fun and enriching to live in a place where you can find people from all over the world.

...(this place was reserved for Québec, too bad almost everyone who wanted to go turned down the opportunity, forcing us to cancel the trip and losing the opportunity not only to visit Québec but also to be there during its 400 years' festivities)

...Tim Hortons, for giving us delicious coffee and muffins almost every morning before classes and at every stop during our weekend trips.

...Northgate Square, for being our shopping mall and perhaps our main hangout, I didn't expect it was going to be very well stocked for the city you serve. And thanks for that sidewalk sale too, I got really good deals during it. In fact I think I bought more from your stores than at the other larger malls like Eaton Centre, Rideau Centre or Vaughan Mills.

...Nipissing University and Tec de Monterrey, for giving us the opportunity to come to Canada and I hope your partnership continues for many years more and improves during the years; perhaps eventually it might give something good for both North Bay and Tampico in the future.

...Pizza Pizza and Mr Sub, for being almost everywere and therefore almost making me sick of pizza and subs. And to a certain extent, of burgers too, though these came from different places every time (such as Harvey's and most BBQs) except McD and BK.

...North Bay Transit, for giving us a reliable bus service to move inside NB, though sometimes frustrating when you miss a bus and have to wait half and hour (or an hour on evenings and weekends) for the next one. Nonetheless, I feel it's a very reliable service, with comfortable buses and qualified drivers, and gets along very well with the streets since they don't cause any congestion at all.

I know, my journals are long but I always appreciate when you can read them and comment them, the resulting discussion makes them more interesting.

So as of this week, I'm actually half the way on this summer trip to Canada. It has been so awesome, and so busy too, but it's OK because if they have us all bored without doing nothing maybe half of the group would already be wanting to return home. Too bad there won't be any more weekend trips, at least included in the original plan, but our last weekend is free so maybe we'll plan something nice so that we won't pass it all boring up here in North Bay.

I've been enjoying it quite a lot, despite not being able to draw, but all what I've learned might eventually help not only for future drawings but perhaps to start writing a small story for my girls. Here's among the many things that I've liked about this beautiful and interesting country:

-The big diversity of living styles and fashions, both among Canadians themselves and people from other countries living in Canada. Sometimes you can actually be close to a group of people who appear to be Canadian or from the US, but when you hear them speaking something different from English, French or Spanish, you suspect they might not be American. Mexico seems to be more like "standardized" in the sense that most people make the same things and dress alike, so one might feel awkward when trying something different.

-Many people seem to take summer VERY seriously. It might be 15 C at night, but that doesn't deter some girls of all ages to hang around with tank tops and mini shorts. In Tampico, everybody would be wearing sweaters at this temperature! Of course, you can expect a girl in bikini top or a guy shirtless during daytime in some places. In fact, most of the time people don't mind how they look; as long as they feel comfortable they wear whatever they want. Perhaps because summer is so short...?

But well, not everything is pink up here in Canada...
-There are things that are much more expensive than in Mexico. For example, if I didn't had a bus pass I'd have to pay $2.25 every time I take the bus... that's what I pay for a taxi ride in Tampico! And the thoughest one... food: while in Mexico I can get plenty of munchies at an Oxxo (convenience store) for $2.00 (say, a soft drink, a bag of potato chips AND a chocolate bar), up here that's the price of a bottle of water! Almost nothing costs less than a dollar. And still harder, at least here in Ontario they also apply sales tax to food, which makes you pay even more. Of course that alcohol is more expensive, and you can only buy it at The Beer Store or LCBO; too different from Mexico where you can even buy an Absolut at almost any Oxxo for around $25 or a Smirnoff for $13.

And now, let me share my best experience in each city I've visited:
-Montréal: Being in a city that's not predominantly English or Spanish made me feel a bit nervous at first, I do know some French but don't feel very comfortable speaking or hearing it. It was my second time there, so I already knew a few things about the city like how to go from downtown to the residences which were the same of the last time. Actually I went to different places in both visits: while the first time I focused more in shopping at the malls of the underground city and the Olympic Stadium, now I went to the Old Montréal and the Biodome.

-Ottawa: Also my second time there, and for the same reason: Canada Day!!! So there were crowds and crowds AND CROWDS all the way near Parlament Hill. And of course, we couldn't miss the fireworks show at night. Though this time I spent a long time at the natural history museum, both in there and going to since it's like 10 blocks away from downtown Ottawa! And the day before, we visited the Parlament building where we learned a lot of the history of Canada and why was it built as it is, supposedly because of the mourning time during World War 1.

-Toronto: Just two words describe my best experience in Canada's largest city: CN Tower... what else? At last one of my travel wishes was accomplished, because since I always wanted to visit CN Tower since I first knew of its existence several years ago when my father first visited Canada. I visited everything except the restaurant (VERY expensive, they told me it was $44 for a fish n chips and a friend shocked when I told him that) and the Sky Pod since it wasn't included in our package. I was also offered the opportunity to go to the Blue Jays vs Yankees game, but turned it down because none of my best friends were going and I don't understand baseball that much. As of the shopping, I was eager to go to the Eaton Centre, but I was afraid of being left behind so I didn't bought too much there. Friday is getting closer and closer... well, you might be wondering, what with that?

Because this Friday marks the beginning of my life's biggest trip up to now: a summer in Canada! It's a trip that I've been planning silently during the year, perhaps it won't mean too much for others, but for me it's a very special one because it's the first time I'm going alone (without my parents) to a different country. However I'm not going completely by myself, since I'm part of a group sent by my university.

What's the trip for? Basically we're going to make a couple of subjects, which are international marketing and business ethics, at Nipissing University located on the city of North Bay, which is 5 hours north of Toronto. We're going to stay in the university's residences, in apartments for 4 people. Fortunately these guys are easy going, so I won't have much trouble to adapt to them. Though I already made this trip 3 years ago when my father volunteered to look for the students, hence giving me the opportunity to learn how are things in Canada beforehand, this will be the good one.

But the trip is not only studying. We're also going to have a couple of business meetings with important people from the region, including the Mayor of North Bay, to kill time and enrich our experience. And we're also having weekend trips to cities like Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, and Algonquin Provincial Park. In fact, we're going to be at Ottawa for Canada Day! Isn't it great?

And yes, perhaps I'll stay away from my drawings during the trip. But one never knows, I could make one or two while in Canada or none until August when I return to Mexico. Though I'm working on one which will be uploaded right before I leave, so when you see it you'll know that I'm on my way to Canada.

Right now it has some photos from my trip to Veracruz last year, but I'll delete them around Thursday to make way for the new ones so better enjoy them before I fly to Canada!

For this journal I'm proposing five questions that can help me and anyone resume our experience in deviantART along this time you've been here in the site. Hope they're not hard to answer for you if you wish to.

Are you satisfied with your dA experience?
This means if you have gained the support you've been looking for, especially if there's people who recurrently claims to like your works. When I entered dA, of course I started very slowly, with few or no comments or faves in my first drawings (and that is still true for those). I even believed that no one would be interested on them because they thought I was a pervert who had sexual fantasies with the little girls I made, just because they learned from my profile that I'm a guy. But as I met new people, not only did the comments and faves on my drawings started to go up, I also found out that there's many people out there who like what I make, and that are also guys themselves who drew their own girls. Though well, now and then there's someone who has mistakened me for a girl, but after (politely) clarifyintg this they accept it without getting scared or the like.

Do you take for granted what you have achieved with your works?
No matter how hard or easy was for you to achieve a certain number of pageviews, or if you reply all comments or thank for all the faves you get, you should feel gratified for what you've achieved, even if you don't express it openly. I don't believe that even those who only draw what's hot and achieve, what do you like, 50k pageviews on their first year gained it for mere luck. Perhaps fanart of a very popular topic might help one to gain more people faster, since most of us prefer to search for what we like. And it's also a right and fair way to get started with drawing, though ideally you'd eventually start to create your own characters and stories even if they're still inspired in what you drew at first. But my point is, that no matter how you've struggled to push your drawings around dA and how successful have you been on that, you should still be grateful with those who like your stuff because besides liking it, they also took the time to view them and continue viewing the rest of your stuff. An occasional thank you-themed deviation or journal can help if you can't afford to reply every comment, thank every fave, or watch back everyone who adds you, especially if you get lots of them.

Do you consider yourself "unpredictable"?
This means, that you not only have a variety of styles for drawings but also pictures and other non-drawn stuff like pixel art or the like. For example I don't consider myself to be very unpredictable because most (if not all) of the time you can expect form me one of my girls. Yet I do have piece of unpredictability in terms of not disclosing what character or scene is coming next.

Have you make a difference among those who watch you or other deviants?
I think that one of the most grateful experiences if you draw your own characters is to see that a fellow deviant not only took the time to comment or fave as I told before; now I'm referring that he or she draws a fanart of your characters. Or furthermore that you unwillingly inspire that person to continue drawing. Of course many of us are too far to achieve the latter, it's more usual to get the former.

Has drawing (or whatever artistic activity you do) helped you grow as an artist?
I might assume that being in dA and showing your drawings to us helps you to keep with them and also trying to improve whenever you can. Let me tell you and this is real: should I've never joined dA, perhaps I'd have given up drawing some time ago. If there's nobody or nothing there to push me up to improve, even if they don't actively tell me that, I start losing interest until I give up that activity. Perhaps I wouldn't be surprised that one day, one of us will be working on a series, novel, game, or the like that is being the craze of the moment or a wonderful classic. And maybe you could trace part of your beginnings as an artist to dA and the people you met here.

Feel free to answer them to yourself, to discuss the questions and what I wrote, etc. You can considered tagged if you wish; if you feel like making this journal for yourself, then consider yourself as someone whose experience as an artist has made a difference in your life! Notice that anyone can give it a try, even those who prefer something different to drawings.

I think this semester has been one of the best ever, not only concerning grades and subjects but also socially. Of my 6 usual subjects, 3 were directly linked with logistics, which were material and package handling, customs law, and logistics in international business. Fortunately and unlike last semester, my grades are being much better especially because I didn't fail any term, not even in that one where the teacher is a complete idiot since she doesn't know how to explain well.

And socially, there has been a bit of everything: not brand new friends but better relationships with my college friends and peers since we're shortly starting to take more subjects together. Maybe there were a few negative experiences, such as that failed study trip which we were planning for more than one month and ended up canceling it a few hours before leaving because of lack of enough student society funds and people. But thanks to them I've started to hang out to nightclubs and parties, though not every single weekend and much less twice on the same weekend. And one of these parties was both for me and a friend who also has her birthday about the same date as me, so it was my first birthday party of this kind, even though we threw it between our b-days to make it for the weekend.

OK that was enough about my experience this semester, so now back to the art scene. As usual and like many fellow deviants, my exams and projects have kept me away from my drawings for a while, forcing me to focus my inspiration and energy to the other stuff. But despite now being free from college work, I'm still with nothing in my mind yet! Perhaps I haven't fully recovered from all that pressure and stress of the exams? I'd like to start a new drawing soon, but it seems I'm getting a bit bored of doing stuff featuring only the girls you know. So to ease things a bit, I'd like to make some of my next drawings either having a character made by you playing or hanging around with one of mine, or creating a couple of new characters. Or you could suggest me a theme.

And that's how my summer break will start, a bit exhausted from my exams but as I recover (and have good sleeping nights) my inspiration will come back too. This is just the beginning, since I'm already enrolled on that summer exchange program in Canada I've been waiting for since last year. But well, since I don't want to make this journal longer I'll talk more about this upcoming and exciting opportunity later on, as the departure date approaches. Until my next journal!

Update: just reminding everyone that the contest is still on, I've received three entries so far but hopefully I'd get a bit more (at least 3 or 4 more plz) during this last 10 days before the contest ends

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Rules are simple: you just have to draw fanart of any of my girls, which perhaps you already know well especially if you're a long time watcher. Theme is entirely up to you. Should you have any doubt about them, the best resources you have are my shoutboard, the drawings themselves, and me

TIPS
I really don't care that much about technique or the like, seriously you don't have to work your ass off to make a good drawing. Just be creative, and most important, yourself! What I'd mostly appreciate is that you took the time and effort to draw my cute girls. You can make them by themselves, together with another character (yours or your favourite one), even dress them different to what I usually do... don't know, just play with them in your drawing. Your obvious limits are anything that is not allowed in dA (sex, gore, racism...), and of course your imagination.

PRIZES
Oh and what you can get? Well, everybody who participates will get a journal feature which includes a brief description if you wish promotion. But I can also give a 3-month sub to the best drawing, as well as a drawing of any character you want to the second place. This prize list is to be confirmed yet, depending on how much $$$ I have for subs and how much time to draw your prizes. Though I hope this won't be your biggest reason to participate
Winner will be decided through voting in a poll.

DEADLINE AND AFTERMATH

To complement Dora's newest drawing I decided to bring to you something I think I've never done before with my girls: tell their stories. I hope to have some time to make more of these journals until completing the 8, even though they aren't released together with a new drawing of each of them.

¿And why do I start with Dora instead of, for example, Shannon, who is more known? First, because Dora is my eldest character in terms of age, therefore she has more to tell. Let me warn you that perhaps you might find this one a bit sad, anyways here we go:

Dora is fatherless, but unfortunately she did knew him or her sister Aida wouldn't exist. Her father graduated as a honor student from one of the best universities in Southavia, which helped him to get a great job in an important and recognized company. However as years passed, her father's stress level was higher because he was forced to work more and more. Her birth was a great breath both for him and his wife Genevieve, and played together every time he got a rest from work. This created a huge father-daughter bond, which is still reflected in her way to dress and to play, thus that explains why does she prefer boy games.

¿How did her father die? In another stress episode, he called Genevieve and Dora so that they could visit him at the company, taking advantage that his boss wasn't around. Vieve was already in her final pregnancy month before Aida was born. While Dora was cheerfully playing with her dad, the boss arrived, caught them and separated them by the force without hearing Dora's loud shoutings of "I wanna play with Daddy!" And this was the last time they saw each other because a few hours later, her father died of a heart attack (an effect from the extreme stress he suffered) and Vieve was about to give birth to Aida, so it took a while for them to know about his death. Of course, many things happened later but I will leave them for a second part later on... hope I helped you to know more about Dora!

Para complementar el dibujo más reciente de Dora he decidido traerles a ustedes algo que creo que nunca había hecho antes con mis niñas: contar la historia de cada una de ellas. Espero poder hacer este tipo de journals más seguido hasta completar las 8, aunque no necesariamente coincidan con un nuevo dibujo de cada una de ellas.

¿or qué emplezo con Dora y no con alguien más conocida, como por ejemplo, Shannon? Primero que nada porque Dora es mi personaje de mayor edad, por lo que su historia es un poco más extensa. Advierto que esta puede ser un poco triste para algunos de ustedes pero aquí vamos:

Dora es huérfana de papá, pero desafortunadamente ella sí lo conoció, si no su hermana Aida nunca hubiera podido nacer. Su papá se había graduado con mención honorífica de una de las mejores universidades de Surabia, lo cual le ayudó a conseguir un muy buen puesto en una importante y reconocida empresa Sin embargo con el paso de los años, el nivel de estrés de su papá aumentó debido a que lo presionaban con más y más trabajo. Su nacimiento fue un gran alivio tanto para él como su esposa Genoveva, y cada vez que lo dejaban descansar de tanto trabajo jugaba con ella. Esto formó en Dora un gran apego hacia su papá, lo cual impactó en su forma de vestir y de jugar pues eso explica por qué prefiere los juegos de niños.

¿Cómo murió el papá de Dora? Una vez que este señor estaba muy estresado, llamó a Genoveva y a Dora para que lo fueran a visitar a la empresa, aprovechando que su jefe no estaba. Para estos momentos Veva ya estaba en su último mes de embarazo de Aida. Mientras Dora jugaba alegremente con su papá, llegó el jefe, el cual al verlos los separó forzosamente sin hacer caso a las fuertes lágrimas de la niña que decía "Jugar con papi!" Y esta fue la última vez que se vieron pues horas después de este triste cuadro, el papá murió de un ataque cardiaco debido al fuerte estrés con el que vivía y Veva estaba a punto de dar a luz a Aida, por lo que tardaron en saber la noticia. Y claro, pasaron muchas cosas después pero esto lo dejamos para después... espero haberles ayudado a conocer mejor a Dora!

-Saying "Itadakimasu" before the meals
-Eating from bento boxes and stuff like onigiri rice balls or curry rice, with chopsticks
-The sailor-suit style school uniforms for girls which sometimes it's what they wear more since most of the anime takes place at school AND that there's a winter and a summer uniform (though in Azumanga Daioh they're the best outfits you see since their street clothes look quite simple)
-More about uniforms: the PE ones which consist in a white t-shirt with the character's name on a sticker and bloomers, as well as the blue swimsuits
-There's a homeroom teacher who gives almost all of the subjects (maybe?)
-A summer festival with many stands and games, where the main characters dress in yukatas
-A stay in a hotel which in reality is a traditional inn where the doors are of the sliding type and the rooms have tatami floors and no beds, therefore the characters must sleep in those sleeping bags AND most of the time wearing yukatas
-Openings and closings with flashing lyrics, like karaoke (almost all animes have it!)
-That the anime, if it's not sci-fi or fantasy, takes place somewhere in Japan
-...and you may add more to this list if you wish

I know most people like animes because they can learn about Japanese culture when watching them, but don't you think that these elements appear too much that they finish tiring you? It ends being the same but with different characters. I'd really like to see other stuff from Japanese culture, not just the same!

But there's something more: To be anime I know it must have the drawing and animation style we all know. But does it have to start as a manga, be made in Japan by Japanese people and include many of the points I mentioned before to be still called anime? If I made my own series with the characters you all know, I'll try not to include these elements because it won't even take place in Japan, Mexico or any other country you know, since I'll also create it.

Fanart of my own
This is something I tried to start promoting several months ago but hasn't seem to materialize yet. I'd really, but REALLY appreciate, as much as a new loyal watcher or even more, that someone makes a drawing with any of my girls and shows it to me. This would make a great shoutboard if I decide to subscribe in the future, as many fellows do. Perhaps no one has tried it because I haven't had a chance to organize contests or even open art trades because I have no time for it. But c'mon if many OCs can reach the hearts of many people without the need of contests or art trades and even as fast as one or three months after being shown for the first time, so do mine after almost two years. What else can I do? You can even push me to keep a better written character profile in order to help you with your fanart because the one I have now seems to be very neglected. But seriously, I'd love to see how you draw Shannon or Mari Fer or your favorite girl in your style. Do I really deserve it?

How're you doing? Just writing to replace the old journal which has been there for more than a month without change

Last week I finally finished my semester and after a very hard battle with myself I did pass that subject that I was about to fail, thank god my expectatives were that good! And well deserved to finish because this seemed to be my thoughest semester in college, as well as the one with the worst grades...

Maybe you haven't noticed but when the new gallery options were released I started to group my drawings not by character, but in blocks depending when it was done since they represent different stages of my drawing timeline, even if they're just from 2006 on. If you haven't done this just give it a try, now managing your gallery is as easy as with your computer's files and folders! And it's really helpful if you have all kinds of arts like drawings, pictures, literature, flash, etc to make your gallery look more organized

BTW this year's last drawing is coming for next week. It won't be very Christmas themed because I don't tend to use date-specific themes so that you can enjoy my drawings anytime in the year. About the kiriban I can't promise you a free full drawing if you capture my 10k but it would be nice to know who got it when it comes, since this is one of the most famous kiribans among most deviants

I managed to remove the outline and shade which were apparently ruining the whole design and added some splashes, but what are you still not liking about this drawing? The background? (you know I'm not great with them) Sita's outfit? (sorry but real surfers wear those) Or perhaps... surfing doesn't attract you that much? Neither to me, but well that's what Sita likes so that's why she's surfing in this pic. Remember that here there's no other way to tell the artist you liked or disliked something he or she did than by commenting and/or faving the deviation, unless we were checking it together in real life, and besides with me you may feel free to comment what you didn't like about a drawing so that I try not to repeat the same mistake in the future But if there's no critique, there can't be improvement

But well, here's the main reason why I wrote this journal:
Let me warn you that in the drawing I'm currently working one of the characters will have a bare chest, which is important for the drawing's theme. Unfortunately because of this it might already fall within what many people call "nudity" because 1)you know that my characters are young girls, and 2)this is something I've never done before so I'm not used to what others think about it. But don't worry, the theme will still be cute and friendly as always, I promise that I will never draw something that might make others think I'm a pervert because it goes against the themes I tend to use. I just wanted to know what do you think about it, especially if you're a serious follower of my art.

Maybe I will not have that much time to draw, depending on how much assignments I have and how hard will partial exams be, but hey there's no need to hurry and feed my gallery with crap that might not appeal anybody. It's better to have certain span between new pieces so they can be more interesting and creative as they have been recently.

But hey, that doesn't mean that I will be received with an empty message centre or with only journals every time I log in eh? Take the time to know my girls better, them as much as I do, suggest me stories and themes for the next time I plan to draw them them, invite your watchers to visit me, and if you have nothing to draw feel free to draw them on your own style! It seems that I see a lot of future in her. Most of the drawings are of her original character Coffee (based on herself) and Coffboy, as well as from other PPG fan characters from other deviants. However I see they're very dynamic and full of life, maybe they'd look great on an amimation series or something like that as you can see in her Flash works.

Thanks to his original characters I was able to know the names and colors of Costa Rica's most important football teams, which can be interesting either for the football fan or even one interested on that central american country. Oh look at this, more than 2 months without a new journal...
First of all, thanks everyone for this first 5000 hits! Even if they came later than when I expected it still means a lot to me that you continue viewing and commenting bla bla bla... each new drawing I submit or at least stopping by to greet me.

Things have gone fine around my life... for this mid term my grades improved a lot, except for accountancy (which I failed and that killed again my 90 average ). Let's see what can I do to end my semester with at least the average I just told you as well as dealing with a nasty group of friends who just waste their time posting pictures at sites like MySpace, Facebook, Fotolog, etc and can't quit making fun of other people while off their minds

A week ago it was my brother's birthday, and I bought him the amazing Zelda Twilight Princess for GameCube, so OK, let's play it! Of course, I go much farther than him in the game, he's just entered Kakariko Village as a wolf while I'm done with the Arbiter's Grounds dungeon. This game... well, it's filled with tons of surprises, good and strange, especially because I didn't want to spoil before playing it.
And mine comes this April 30!

See you for my next deviation and journal! Oh, and now that I come to deviations, maybe I won't be able to reply all the comments I receive if they're not complete enough, i.e "aww... cute". Why not, instead, "aww... cute, I like this detail"? First of all and after passing a Merry calm Christmas, thank you everybody for this 4000 hits I received during these 10 months I've been here in dA, for all your commments both to tell me that you liked a deviation and to advice me how to improve, your favourites, and your watches, which have motivated me to continue with my drawings and try to make them better every time. Receive a warm hug from me!

Right now I have an unfinished drawing, with a good advance (85%) but maybe I will submit it after new year, because at the same time I'm practicing with a small change that I'm making to my drawing style, if you wish I can submit the sketches. It's not a big change, but I hope it helps me to make different kinds of poses and themes that I haven't tried or maybe yes but with not so good results under my current style

Primero que nada y después de pasar una feliz y tranquila navidad, gracias por estas 4000 visitas que recibí a lo largo de mis primeros 10 meses aquí en dA, por todos sus comentarios tanto para decir que les gustó uno de mis dibujos como por sus consejos para mejorar mi técnica, sus favoritos y sus watches, que me han motivado a continuar con mis dibujos y tratar de hacerlos cada vez mejor. ¡Reciban todos un caluroso abrazo de mi parte!

Por ahora tengo un dibujo pendiente, que ya lleva bastante avance (un 85%) pero tal vez suba hasta después de año nuevo, porque al mismo tiempo estoy practicando para ver qué tan bien me sale un cambio que estoy haciendo en mi estilo de dibujar, si lo desean puedo subir los bosquejos. About myself
Nothing new to talk about... let's see how does my second week in school goes on as I hope it will be as great as the first one!

Starting my life as... on Aug 7, 2006
Yes, today it was my very first day as a college student. And it was so great! I met again with many of my friends, both old and older because some of them come from my former school (they stayed there for high school). Even if I arrived there at 7 AM, as I used to do, my first class was at about 8:30 and will always be like that. However, my schedule is a bit weird... today I had two classes, as well as in Wednesday and Thursday, but the other two days I'll have four without rest! So maybe a hard day awaits for me tomorrow And I don't have any of them daily, not even math which was the old every day torture .o:

Just let's see if the teachers who give me accountancy and programming are nice to us and let us out before 2 PM, even if the schedule marks the class to end at 2:30, so I can arrive early at home

I'm going to try to do my best to deal with this new life cycle, because I could accept working slower on each drawing but not to stop indefinitely!

One vacation week left (about myself) on Jul 31, 2006
Right now I'm on my last vacation week. It might sound sad, you'd said, but after almost 3 months of not going to school I already feel in the need of ending them! More information about this moment will come as it approaches, next Monday at this very hour I'll be taking my first class as a college student!

I loved Guadalajara on Jul 28, 2006
Yes, the title says it all... and Guadalajara goes straight to my "favourite cities" list after this short visit! Even if that "dream" was made, it would have been a more pleasant visit if I didn't went with my parents (I'm their slave/prisioner on their trips ). Strange, but the weather didn't disappointed me at all, unlike Pátzcuaro where it gets really cool (of cold) between 7 PM and 10 AM. Of course this could happen in GDL too, but much later on the year.

As a favourite city, it deserves to be visited again, so maybe I could plan to return there around early December once I finish my finals, either with an aunt (the same one that took me to Villahermosa) or by myself, and probably stay longer until the closeness to Christmas forces me to return home. And if my school offers a trip there, I'd gladly join!

Yes, that's more less what I got in total both for my birthday and my upcoming graduation. Here's what I bought during my latest visit to Brownsville and McAllen, TX:

I walk around my house in black shorts and an orange tee with Dora the explorer stamped on it.

Even if I like to be visited, I don't receive anyone at home unless they notify me in advance (a quick phone call telling me that is enough).

Unlike other guys who are the same age as me, I have to ask permission to my parents to stay at home, not to hang out to that party!

Besides, I always wake up early in the morning (I get mad if I'm still in bed and find out it's 8 AM).

It's really REALLY hard to make me stay awaken late at night (after 11 PM).

I don't know why I always finish playing with my 4 year old niece even if I don't like her outfit at all.

Furthermore, most of the time I tend to prefer those people who I rarely see rather than those who always come for vacations.

There must always be a subject which keeps me from getting very good grades (above 95), and it's always physics, calculus, or both.

I hate when people from Mexico City say that it's colder here in Tampico than there.

Some girls say I bother them a lot even if there are other guys who treat them worse.

Yes, I decided to delete them because this is now a drawings gallery, not a photo one as I first intended. These few pictures were taken during the very early days I had the camera, but now it has taken almost 6000 pics and believe me, I prefer spending my time making a cute drawing rather than browsing my endless yet well organized pictures folder to look for one that withdraws attention.

And also, I noticed that these few pictures I had displayed for almost 9 months were not appealing at all -no favorites, no comments-, thus another reason to remove them.

Yes, this is my favourite one! There isn't much science needed to realize it, she's always on my featured deviations and of course, on my avatar. My sweetie!
She's a girl from Irish descent who has came to join my group of characters because she was tired of life there in Ireland, since her parents didn't let her socialize a lot. Besides she's a very loyal girl who would make anything in order to help her other friends to be fine, and she tends to cry if something she planned goes wrong. She likes to try all kinds of food but watch out, don't ever dare to give her spicy stuff or you will regret it! She likes to dress in green but hates denim at all. Her favorite games include jumping the rope, running outside, swimming, and puzzles. Ever since she met Mari Fer she has felt more accompained than before.

Mari Fer
A very curious girl. She used to live with her parents at Guadalajara and left because her situation was pretty much like Shannon's. One of her funniest treats is that she's very prone to get scared to any surprise such as sudden noises or lights, but what she definitely enjoys are tickles on her underarms or her tummy! (you can also poke the latter one, as the emoticons suggest) Sometimes they confuse her voice with Sita's, but only in the very rare case she gets angry or pissed. As of food, she can eat almost everything after putting anything spicy to it, but never show cherries if you don't plan to invite her! Her dressing style might be the least restricted, as you have seen in her drawings where she doesn't show preference to a certain color or style. It's strange, but even if during daytime she tends to wear tank tops from different styles, at night she always runs for her jacket and wears a sleeper for bedtime (probably because of her thinness?)

Well, here's my reason to be an artist. As my signature will say, my major artistic object, for both getting inspired and to work on it, is a girl. No matter if she's a child or a teen, we can use many words to describe one. So, if a photo or a drawing pretends to show one or more girls, you can always expect a nice comment from me...

For the moment, I won't submit any nice art piece I've made, because I still don't have any resources to do it, like a scanner or a digital camera. By the time I get them, then I will start submitting my beloved works, my drawings and some photos I might take. And guess what? Most of them will be dedicated to those beautiful creatures that inspire me and that are the essence of my place in art: girls.
