I stumbled across an LJ topic a few minutes ago that read: If you were to publish a book (regardless of genre) what do you want out of it?

Here are most people's responses:
-Inspire other writers
-To make money off of doing something they love
-Become famous
-Make a franchise (I.E. Action figures, posters, the whole enchilada)
-Nothing

Anyway, both the question and the various answers got me thinking about what I would want if I was ever published, whether it was next week or in 50 years. To be honest...I have no idea what I would want

I don't even think I have the right to concentrate on the aftermath of a book...all my energy needs to be going into just writing the goddamn thing. Heaven knows I've been a lazy procrastinator. I mean sure, it would be awesome to have people inspired by my characters and whatnot, but really...given that I barely have three chapters that I'm happy with under my belt (Needless to say, they still need a SHITTON of editing and I have to do a lot of research into the Russian military, weaponry, nuclear physics, and international politics...T-T) I don't feel like I can dream of the future.

Anyway, what are everyone else's thoughts on this? I just want to see how many like-minded friends and watchers I've got. If your opinion differs, please share!

Why the hell should I go to college? For the life of me, I cannot reason with myself enough to motivate me into going...I don't know exactly why, but it's probably because I have always just been 'expected' to go...and 'told' to go rather than given any other option.

I know this seems kind of emo for one of my journals but I need some advice...whether you've gone to college, chose not to, or are like me and are lost as all fuck.

The only thing I don't want to see is shit like, "College students make (X amount) more money in their lifetime than people with just a highschool diploma." It's not that I have anything against money or college in general. I just don't want that to be the reason that I bother going to college.

Please help...

Ok, ok...some of you may be kind of confused by the journal title so let me provide a quick explanation.

When season 3 first aired on Nick, I only watched up to the Day of Black Sun...after that, I quit. I was so pissed off that I refused to watch the rest of the series. Then I went to the Avatar panel at SDCC 08 and I got to see the final two episodes of the series...and that only made me mourn the series even more.

Anyway, I finally got my hands on season 3 and I figured since it's been a year that I should give it a second chance, see if maybe I will see it differently...and of course to watch all those episodes I skipped.

I watched all the episodes in order and I have to say...the only episode I really loved was The Ember Island Players. Sure, it was mostly filler, but it was a really well done filler. For one, it parodied the show itself and made you very much aware of all the character faults that everyone has. Secondly, it emphaized the very possible outcome of the war in which Firelord Ozai really wins. Seeing the scene in the play and then the characters' reactions to it was very chilling and it reminded me of most of the adult themes that played out in season 2 when the show started to take on a really serious tone.

Now for every other episode/plot point:

-The rest of the episodes were mostly filler as well really...sure some of the themes came back like Katara blood bending the new captain of the Southern Raiders, but really...none of them were too important to the plot. I think what happened was that the writers didn't know how to fill in the last few days leading up to the invasion and then to the comet.

-Things progress far too quickly even though they should have taken months or at least a few weeks. My main example for this is Sokka's training with Pian D...I can't remember his name he was so unimportant to me. Anyway, Sokka has ONE DAY of training with the guy and suddenly he is a master swordsman...WHAT? There is a reason that knights were trained from the time they were 9. Sure, I'm willing to give Sokka some wiggle room because he does know how to fight...but fighting with a club, spear, and boomerang is a lot different than fighting with a sword. Getting used to the weight is a challenge in itself. Also, most swordsmen don't even get real swords until they are done with a year of training with wooden props.

Yeah, maybe I'm being nit-picky with this episode, but this is the one that's really pushing the time frame.

-There were a lot of useless characters in this season as well. For example: Combustion Man. He just was there to attack the Avatar so that the episodes would have a few fight scenes in them. Really...that was his only purpose guys.

-Even the past characters were useless. Haru, Teo, and The Duke were just...there and yet we all know from season one that they are all skilled fighters and have personalities. I guess the writers just didn't know what to do with them. Same with Hakoda...he really had no personality and didn't add to the story at all. I mean, even BATO had a better role than he did and he isn't the father of two main characters...

-The lack of character development was appaulling as well compared to season 1 and 2. The Beach was the worst episode in the season in my opinion because it seems like the writers tried to cram character development in a giant group therapy session where everyone, (EVEN AZULA!) actually publicly admits their own faults. Let the characters reveal their insecurities and problems through their actions and don't just force it into their lines. I mean COME ON.

-Another forced character development was Azula going nuts at the end. I actually really liked the idea for that...but the problem is she goes nuts within one episode. And I don't mean like, just a little insane...she goes from calm and collected to laughing madly and cutting her own hair in less than 20 minutes...no joke.

Now if they had shown her losing it when Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her or just after Ozai announced she would be staying behind I wouldn't have minded it...the problem is the time scale.

-Outside of character development, it seemed that even the humor was forced. It was really obvious in The Firebending Masters (I think that's the name...) when Aang just kept spouting all these ridiculous lines. I don't think he had a single line of serious dialogue in that entire episode. Sure, it's funny, but in that awkward, not sure whether or not to laugh way.

-Ozai...Ozai was a BIG problem for me. In the past seasons when we only knew so much about him, he was interesting. I barely watch TV, let alone the tripe that's on MTV, but admittedly, the show peeked my interest so I watched all four episodes...

YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME?

The first girl, Farrah or whatever the fuck her name was is wondering why all the girls in school are making fun of her? Look in the mirror hon! You're a pretty and popular CHEERLEADER who has probably made-fun and teased those girls throughout middle school and high-school. I'd say that most of them think you are getting your just desserts.

Then one of her best friends tells everyone she is pregnant and OMG!DRAMA insues...whatever, I think she had that coming.

She of course is really well off because her parents are LOADED and instead of kicking their pregnant teenager daughter out onto the street like some parents have unfortunately done, they take care of everything, except for a new car because Farrah, princess in training, totalled hers. Of course, the bitch constantly whines about not getting a new one immediately, but that;s beside the point.

The rest of the show, she worries over how much her boobs will sag and her stretch marks (she apparently thinks they go away after 8 months XD XD XD XD XD) and then when the kid is born, she expects her poor mother to help care for the baby at night. Her mother tells her no and that she wants her sleep which is a perfectly reasonable answer. After all, she already went through that once and it isn't her kid this time. She's already footing the bill for all the baby items, housing, and dealing with a bitchy teenager daughter...and yet we are supposed to be on Farrah's side.

Next, her grandfather goes ahead and buys her a Ford Focus...(sigh) And Christians wonder why I can't believe in god?

This is just episode ONE folks.

The second story is about a girl named Amber who is just as stupid, but at least has a certain amount of common sense. Also, her and her boyfriend (who both stays and proposes to her....granted with a $25 dollar ring from Walmart, but I digress) are both essentially on their own and actually have real troubles because their families do NOT get along and they have to support themselves completely.

I don't have much to say about her, because really, her episode wasn't too bad...mostly because she didn't bitch about anything Farrah did and her episode was actually pretty cute, especially when her brother (who was off in Iraq) was able to come home and see his niece.

EPISODE THREE: Ebony...this bitch must be out of her mind....

First, she thinks that both she and her 'baby-daddy' will be able to get into the airforce with a baby in tow, second she allows herself to get knocked up by a boy who is practically retarded and irresponsible as all hell, and thirdly she bitches and complains the entire episode and doesn't do anything about it.

For example, she has to take night classes in order for her to graduate high school...her boyfriend NEEDS to be home on time so he can take care of the baby while she is out. He is always late and she bitches once at him, she never actually does anything outside of occasionally bitch.

Yeah, he doesn't even care enough to let her graduate. Shows what a catch he is...

Then of course, he doesn't even care about graduating himself despite ALL the work she puts into trying to get him the credits he needs so he can!

In the end, he gets to graduate and join the air force after missing over 200 classes (hooky anyone?), putting in no work to help his girlfriend or kid, and basically just makes an ass of himself the entire show. She says she was willing to sacrifice all of that, but we all know that is bullshit. If she was as passionate as she claims, she should be fucking pissed as all hell. He didn't even help so that she could fucking graduate high school...how messed up is that!?

Ugh...just shoot me.

Last one...I swears.

Some girl named Whitney or something...who scored a real hottie and a very responsible father. The girl herself looks like she is barely 13 and she bitches like a woman on menopause.

Yes, I understand that being pregnant allows a certain amount of bitching over stupid shit, but really...this girl is as bad as Farrah.

The entire show, she talks about how popular she was and then how her pregnancy alienated her friends...EARTH TO FUCKING DUMBASS TEENAGE GIRL: IF THEY DITCH YOU, THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!

I never understood how popular people can't see that most of their friends are not their friends. 1. Why do you dislike #11 so much?

BECAUSE....

Sakura is a bitch. She likes Sasuke for no reason and only becomes Naruto's friend once he officially agrees to bring Sasuke back. She was also completely useless for over half of the series despite the fact that she is a main character. I am starting to like her more though due to the fact that the seiyu for the Shippuuden is actually not nearly as annoying as young!Sakura's was (Maybe they are the same...all I know is there is a difference and it is VAIR good!)

2. Who do you know that ships #13?

No one T-T Almost no one has heard of or read Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro save for Oscar. I'm not sure if he ships it though...

3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3?

Dissection lab in the nurse's office. Stein tied up on the examination table. Medusa examining his stitches. Yes, I'm kinky.

4. What is your favorite moment for #1?

Probably at the dance when Maka leaves her plate of food by Soul and tells him to watch it. Then he actually looks at her plate and realizes that she got some sushi for him (He knows because she HATES sushi) It's a really cute moment that shows just how close they truly are to each other and it also conveys that in a really subtle sweet way. It's not overdone, just the right amount of cute.

5. How long have you been following couple #6?

Since I saw the series. Neuro is a PIMP. He's got the suit, all he needs is a hat, cane, and leashes for everyone. Not kidding.

6. What’s the story with #8? What made you stop caring?

Well I realized that Bulma was really annoying and despite being an 'uber' genius, she failed to pick up on the obvious. Also, most of their relationship was skipped so we never really get an explanation for their brief coupling. Lastly: HE IS TEH PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS!

7. Which ship do you prefer–#2 or #4?

#4! For one, Zutara has been officially killed off while PhoenixXMiles is practically canon. (Big gay lawyers, much?) Also, Avatar has blown over for me really. Season three was just so awful and so I stopped actually caring...

Ok, yeah, I'm hooked on this series. As a game, the Ace Attorney series is hardly much of a speck on a gamer's radar but the story, the cases, the characters...they are so well developed that I just cannot help but love it to bits.

Capcom, please make it an official serialized manga or anime. PLEASE!

15: Dahlia Hawthorne [link]

This chick is scary from the get go. Her theme is so overwhelmingly calm that you instantly know something is up. She is the typical 'bitch with a pretty face' and yet I can't help but love how ruthless she is. She KILLS her own sister, guys! I dunno...there is such a lack of badass females in most series that seeing Dahlia be the little devil she is just gets my inner feminist jumping and shouting for joy (AND GREAT JUSTICE!)

14: Luke Atmey [link]

Ok, I admit, I HATED his guts at first. He was pompous, annoying, and the traditional "I AM TEH BEST! WORSHIP MEH U FOOLZ!" but then when the MaskdeMasque case began to unravel and the fact that he simply acted like he was guilty in court to cover up his other crime...wow. Ron might have been wearing the actual mask, but I think that Luke hid his actual personality a lot better than both him and Dahlia. Dahlia was obvious because as I said, she was just too damn calm...with Luke, I thought he was the genuine article.

13: Larry Butz [link]

Larry is obviously a good guy...he is nice, MOSTLY honest and tries hard to please people...he can just never hold down a girl. I guess it's because I've met guys like him that I feel sympathetic toward his character, but I just love Larry. Also, despite the fact that he doesn't have much of a role in the cases, when he does come in, he is NEEDED. Seriously, if he hadn't taken Mile's lunch money, Phoenix wouldn't have met Miles and therefore would not have even thought of becoming an attorney. If Larry hadn't come in at the last minute to testify, Miles would have been found guilty for sure. Seriously...LARRY NEDZ LURVE GAIZ!

12: Dessie Delite [link]

At the first description of her, I thought she was going to be like my sister: a bitchy shopaholic...but then I found out that she was a bike-freak. Her devotion to Ron also really sparked for me because it showed that their relationship meant more to her than the amount of money he made. I mean, him saving her back then was one thing, but when she ran into the courtroom to keep him from getting convicted, I knew it was more than that. She loves him and not just for his money. Lastly: She is a COMPLETE BAD ASS! Sorry...I'm so used to the crappy female characters in anime and manga that seeing chicks like this really makes me happy ^^

Sarah demands more from the fandom. I love practically all the characters (save for the villains from PW:AA which were sterotypical, lame, and just needed to die already...) but these two never get any love and they are my favorite bad guys...Well...ok Dahlia ([link]) comes in at a close second.

Zero-Motivation and it's a joke based on the fact that every time I took a NARUTO personality quiz, I ended up with either Shikamaru or Kakashi. I felt that Shika needed more love though and went with him. My old account name was 4EverSleepingDragon which was a reflection of my obsession with fantasy at the time.

Well I was linked to it from FF.N and I felt that FF.N wasn't really diverse. I also liked the pretty art ^^ I have to admit that I almost left for good though because I was getting even fewer reviews than my FF.N account. I only stayed because of the friends who continuously talked to me over my first few months.

Beer is easier going down, but it tastes like shit. Wine...bleh. I vote for vodka.

I remember my sister made me take three patron shots...that's the most amount of alcohol, (I've had more beers, but those have hardly any alcohol compared to tequila shots)

Weed (About five times since 7th grade). I personally am not a huge fan. With drinking, I can curl up in my bed and feel relaxed and warm....weed makes me insane. I can't focus and it bugs me (CONTROL FREAK!) because after 20 minutes, I just want to split my head open against a wall to make it stop spinning. The only reason I kept trying was because I felt that it would be different if I waited a bit and 'matured'

(Cuddles shot glass) I'm very picky about my drinks though. I hate sipping and I hate it when I can't taste the burn at all. Vodka is my drug of choice and I am very much content with it.

Finished both seasons of the series...so I decided to do a closing review of the anime.

BTW: this is all adding on to what I mentioned in the last review. My previous thoughts haven't really changed, but have simply been elaborated.

I do admit that I did enjoy the ending a lot. I didn't think that they would be able to wrap everything up in a satisfactory way, but I was actually pleased with it. Made less sense than a cat fighting a cage match in a fish bowl, but I still was happy when it ended.

OVERALL GLANCE: More twists than an M. Night film. Fuck!

Normally I do not mind plot twists, but I do appreciate getting a quick memo before it actually happens. I mean yeah, you are supposed to be surprised, but when you had no clue what was going to happen and you end up confused...yeah.

Ok...now while I liked the fact that we (audience) had to figure out Lelouch's character and determine what he REALLY meant to do, but it was also kind of annoying because we weren't given previous hints of his 'martyr' like inner-self. Hell, he revised his ultimate goal about sixty million times in the entire series.

I'm not kidding:

1: Bring down Britannia/Emperor for neglect and failing to protect mum.

2: Make a better world for Nanually

3: Liberate the oppressed peoples and have them rise up to defeat Britannia. Take over rebellion.

4: Save own skin

5: Make a new nation against Britannia

6: Double cross allies so that they hate/fear/support you

7: Save own skin, forget that little sister died. Cross out number 2.

8: Make everyone hate you so you can die

9: Suddenly want to live and go off to kill Emperor again

10: 2nd attempt to kill Emperor

11: Take over Britannia! MUHAHAHAHA

12: Take over old allied nations

13: Crush all Britannian opposition

14: Using Geass, force opposition into obeying.

15: Now as a dictator, have best friend kill you so that you can shoulder all the blame.

...

Yeah, like I said: NOT KIDDING. It's way hard for someone to keep up.

And then there were the plot holes...so many things went explained or were never brought to light. Kira...this series gave me such a headache because CLAMP was obviously trying to get as much in as little as possible.

Here are the main things I really had a problem with.

-C World and everything that led to it. Poorly explained, never touched upon again after the arc is over with (despite the fact that it is supposedly a huge part of the plot) and it is just so out of place in this series.

-Charles being good. Sorry, but this is so stupid. He gives all these speeches about being superior and moving toward the future and yet he doesn't stick to his own rules. Makes no sense. Also, he didn't need to become Emperor in order to create his lie-free world...so what was the point?

-C.C. letting Lelouch die despite the fact that she tells him throughout the series that she can't and won't let him. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

-Susaku suddenly forgiving Lelouch...WTF!?

-Lloyd, Mina, and Sayoko turning their backs on Lelouch. I mean, when did he tell them of his plan? We know Susaku knew and we know that Jeramiah knew...but I don't think anyone else did.

-Villete and Oogi suddenly getting it on after she practically kills him. It just wasn't well transitioned.

-Kallen's bust size that increased as the series dragged on (Not really a twist, but it was annoying. I liked her character in the first season, but I hated her in the second)

-The entire arc with the Chinese Feds. Seemed pretty pointless.

-The prince's actions (Schnezil or something like that?) just before he was put under Geass. I mean what the hell was he really hoping to accomplish? We never really get an answer.

-What the fuck was Clovis doing with C.C.? I mean even if he knew from his dad, what was he doing, really?

-All of the Nightmare upgrades. Once again, not really a twist, but it did ruin it a bit for me. One of the reasons why I originally liked this series was because the mechas were fairly realistic and not over-powered like they usually are...but as the series went on, they just got better and better to the point of God-moding.

-The cult. So what was the point? Seriously...anyone got an answer?

-All the characters who were 'dead' coming back to life (Nanually, Gilford, Jeramiah, etc) It just got old after a while.

-Everyone realizing Lelouch's true plan in the end. (Calms down) Ok, so out of curiosity (thanks to the above mentioned bastard >.< I started watching Code Geass.

And...it was actually pretty good o.0 A series by CLAMP...that isn't retarded beyond belief? SERIOUSLY?...No, I mean, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?

Well, ok, it is a collab so I guess that's why.

(Sigh) Anyway, only on episode 9 out of 25 (there is a second season after that though) and I have to say...I'm pretty hooked all things considered (That or just easily amused)

The series starts out with high-school student Lelouch beating the snot out of some rich nobleman in chess. Afterward, he gets caught up in a traffic accident and gets on the truck to see if anyone is hurt. Turns out that the accident was caused by the Britannian soldiers trying to destroy an Eleven resistance.

Ok...you are probably all confused by now so I'll backtrack a bit.

In this world, the Holy Britannian Empire controls (through mechas called 'Nightmares' most of the world. Every nation it has conquered receives a number afterward (Saudi Arabia is 18 for example, Japan is Area 11) and then is passed over to a royal steward for guardianship.

Now obviously, the Elevens (Japanese) aren't too happy with their current predicament and so most fight back, although some apply to be honorary Britannians.

(Clears throat) Back to Lelouch; ok so he ends up going onto the truck (the resistance) and finds a green haired girl tied up in a giant metal sphere. The resistance and most of the Britannians think it's just a huge store up of poison gas, but it turns out to be an experiment set by Clovis (one of the Emperor's sons and the current steward of Area 11)

Anyway, so he finds this girl and then is cornered by Britannian soldiers who think that he is part of the resistance. His friend, Susaku (An Eleven, but an honorary Britannian) is one of the soldiers and is ordered to kill Lelouch. He refuses and the squad leader shoots Susaku.

The leader then turns his gun upon Lelouch, but the girl suddenly gets up and steps in front of him, taking a shot to the head in order to save him. Then her 'dead' body grasps his and asks if he wants power. He accepts and suddenly he is grant the power of Geass or the ability to convince anyone to do anything so long as they have direct eye contact.

He tells the squad to die and they all commit suicide, right then and there.

After that, the plot goes into how he uses Geass to become the the leader of the Black Knights known as Zero and now fights against the Empire in order to exact revenge on his father who is in fact...DUN DUN DUN

The emperor...

Yep, once again, CLAMP does royalty. Predictable.

HOWEVER, he doesn't want the crown...he just wants revenge for his mother's death. Apparently, she was killed by terrorists (but it's most likely someone from the family) and his sister who was disabled in the accident.

Now I like Lelouch, but I think it has to deal with the fact that he and Yagami Light are so very alike. However, Light is more subtle while Lelouch tends to go for the dramatic. Still, Light pulled off the "I want to change the world" evil genius mastermind better than Lelouch.

I mean it's just hard for me to really enjoy Lelouch's character when I've already seen it done...and done a hell of a lot better! Sorry, princy-boy...but Yagami takes the gold!

Also, he claims he wants to destroy the empire, but he never even makes a move until he gets Geass...and then it's like he becomes a completely different person with little transition. It bugs me because if he really wanted to destroy Britannia, he wouldn't be just waiting for someone to give him the chance. He would be trying to find out info on Clovis, on his dad, etc. It seems so dumb that he only ever makes a move once he gets Geass.

But the one good shining star on the series is...THE FEMALE CHARACTERS ARE LIKEABLE!

I'm completely serious. There are only three female characters who I cannot stand in this series and trust me, there are a lot.

Euphinia: Another of the emperors children. Basically, she is a helpless princess that is everything good and kind in the world. AND NOW TO RIP IT TO PIECES!

NOTE: I am VERY easily scared shitless. Hell, movies like "Darkness Falls" and "Stay Alive" had me squirming in my seat...but the supposedly 'scary' SAW hardly got my heart rate going anywhere near above average.

To be honest, even as just a suspense film, it wasn't all that great. Only the very last five minutes had any merit really and even then, it needed work.

MY MAIN PEEVES: The acting was pretty damn crappy, I hated how we kept flash-backing, the main puzzle only connected loosely, and the twist ending was nice, but not satisfying.

Ok, the acting wasn't all that great and the transitions were even worse. I'll use the ex-cop as my prime example since his is the most obvious.

We go from a character who is perfectly sane to a nutjob...but we skip the transition of his insanity and we get the excuse of, "he saw the body of his partner" BUT we never get the impression that he and his partner are that close. I mean, obviously they had a relationship given that they worked together, but there wasn't really much to go off of.

And just for the record: both of these idiots charged into a building without a warrant or back-up. No offense, but I think they brought this on themselves.

I could also use the doctor when he finally loses it at the end. I'm sorry, but he is almost calm throughout the whole thing and then when he gets a second phone call (apparently the first one wasn't enough for him to want to do something) he loses it, chops his foot, and shoots Adam in the right shoulder.

It seems like (pardon the pun) the director is trying to force in a puzzle piece that is just too big. Seriously...both of them know what this guy can do. Seeing as Adam is an average guy, it's more realistic that he freaks out moreso than the doctor who is used to seeing blood, organs, etc...but even then, they are practically calm and almost apathetic in their cell, wasting the hours away and not really doing anything.

Now the last ten minutes...were EPIC WIN. HOWEVER, it seemed too rushed.

I mean seriously...we spend the whole movie waiting and having nothing really happen and suddenly it's like "LEG CHOP! GUN SHOTS, PEOPLE DYING, ZOMG TWIST, SCREAMING ADAM, DOOR CLOSED, END!"

You could say, "The rest of the movie was just character development and piecing of the puzzle that led up to the end."

My problem is: it wasn't done WELL

We were given too much detail for stupid needless things and not even detail for some. I mean seriously...if they had given the patient five more minutes of screen time, would you still have suspected him? Probably not and it would have been an even greater shocker because it would have made more sense.

Basically, the pacing was just wrong and it fucked up the movie for me. I didn't know what the focus on because so much of the movie was pointless to the end result.

EX: The cop's character wasn't all that important to the plot. Instead of wasting time with him and his partner fucking around and getting themselves killed, etc, the movie could have been better spent working the puzzle, etc. That would have saved them like 15 minutes to use for relevant crap.

We spend a lot of time watching essentially nothing happen. Yeah, there is casual conversation and the like (i.e. plot tools in order to trigger flashbacks) but nothing REALLY happens and it bores people like me who need things to happen and have them be fucking relevant.

Anyway, as I said above, I did love the end where the door closes and we just hear Adam screaming as the credits begin to roll...but that isn't enough to seal the deal for me as a movie-goer.

I also loved the concept of Jigsaw where he wanted to show people that their life meant more than what they thought it did...but still...I really didn't feel his motive...like it was real.

For example: He tries to kill the doctor's wife and child so that the doctor will shoot Adam...how is that making the doctor realize his life is precious? What about his family? They don't seem to be ungrateful for their lives? Why the hell are they suffering? Doesn't that go against Jig's MO?

Sure, it makes him realize his FAMILY is precious, but that isn't his life. Also, what did Adam do to deserve death? Never explained...but I'm pretty sure that Adam did enjoy life and was not one of Jig's targets, so why?

Same with the guy that Amanda murdered to get her key. Was he innocent? The VP debate is almost over here and I have to say: it's been much more engaging and Biden is officially epic win.

Palin on the other hand...well, I haven't seen someone say so little in so many words since PaoPao.

She never directly answers a question, HAS to include personal experiences and stories, and then takes forever to get to her original fucking point...she also manages to dodge specific details.

Her argument is the same crap she has been spewing for the entire campaign: MCCAIN IS MAVERICK! I IS MAVERICK TOO! THESE LIBRAL DEMS DON'T NOE BOUT MAH SON'S HOCKEY TEAM!"

She is also trying to pull tricks (Talking about the surge, saying how Obama tried to cut off troop funding, how Biden voted for the war...Basically, ignoring all the issues behind those decision and simply pointing a finger)

Then about how McCain has war experience (PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IS NOT ENOUGH GAIZ! SERIALLY! YOU CANNOT DEBATE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!)

The guy behind the curtain that laughs and drinks tea and has a British accent! Yes, we all know him and love him...NOT. Ok, first of all, I am a BIG fan of villains and most of the time, I love them over the hero (Trust me, I would never have gotten into NARUTO if the Akatsuki were not so originally badass...of course then they were pretty much all killed off and the series went to shit after Sasuke pulled that jutsu out of his ass that saved himself from Deidara's blast WHATEVER!) and the reason is because without them there to shake things up...there usually is no plot. So usually if the villain sucks, so does the story.

26: Theasaurus not required
Big words do not make you smart, whether you are using them in or out of context.
For one, they stand out against your writing because they just look out of place in a sea of common everyday terms, and two, the reader usually has to pause and go look it up before they go back to reading. Big words, should be left out of most circumstances. An exception would be like if you were talking about photosynthesis, it would be best to use the actual term instead of listing the entire process out in small words. They really just clutter up your writing.

27: I'm sorry sir, but you were fifty miles over the speed limit. I'm gonna have to give you a ticket.
Many people think that details are BAD because they slow down the writing and supposedly make it boring and cause the reader to lose interest. These guys need to stop taking AP English and talk to published authors. Details will not make your writing boring so long as they are useful (Set a scene, transition from emotions, etc, etc) and they will slow down your writing. Speeding through to get to the good parts is not a good idea because you skimp on detail and it bores your reader. While you are waiting to get to the good part, entertain them!

28: Jumping the shark as it's nuked in the fridge
Lots of stories tend to start out great and then turn into complete shit as time goes on because the author wants to continue, but has NO clue as to what to do anymore and didn't bother to try to take a break and plan things out. This kind of goes along with pace because whenever authors jump the shark, it tends to be as obvious to the reader as a bowl of hot ramen to the face. It is usually completely OOC and it seems like Deus ex Machine in the sense that it just doesn't fit with the rest of the series. To prevent this, you need a couple of damn good editors who can tell you when you've gone too far and then explain where you went wrong. This way, you can at least go back and rework the idea so that it transitions into the writing, or you can delete the scene altogether and then take a hiatus to go and figure everything out. Seriously, your readers will not mind waiting so long as you don't disappoint when you come back.

29: Three years ago? But on page 348, you said it happened TEN years ago!
Consistency...this is usually easily fixed because all it takes is an outline.
One of my fav examples is DBZ because as much as I love the series, the timeline is horribly organized if at all organized. In the beginning, Planet Vegeta was destroyed three years before Radditz came to Earth...but then in Vegeta's flashback, he is around ten years old...and then in several of the movies, it's said that it was destroyed thirty years ago...yeah...they obviously have no clue what they are doing. Now, I am no fan of outlines because while it is fun to make them...I can never really stick with them for long before changing them and eventually, I spend more time on the outline than the actual story. However, it's good to make a time-line at least just so you don't end up confusing the living crap out of your readers.

30: And then he put his man-thingy in her and they did it for the first time-
SEX SCENES! DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUN! Wow...most people can not write a good sex scene to save their life. I personally have sworn off writing actual penetrative sex scenes (Fooling around though is easy to write ) because I don't have the experience to really put behind the writing...not to say that only non-virgins can write sex scenes, (Because I've met plenty that hardly even know what turns themselves on because the sex they've had is vanilla or they've been told sexual horror stories, etc, etc, etc) but if you are gonna attempt this, research. Ask people who have had sex and then...look up some porn. Yes, for this I am advocating for porngraphy...cause seriously, if you don't really get it, a visual aid works the best XD.

Yes, holy fucking shit balls, folks. I actually wasn't trying to kill myself while I read this book (like with Eragon and Eldest!)

Why have I feel that this book was not nearly as bad as it's prequels is explained below.

In Brisingr we have:
-People ACTUALLY calling Eragon out on his shit.
-Moar politics!
-LOGIC LOL
-Some character depth (Don't get your hopes up, I did same SOME)

To be more specific, here are my favorite parts:
-GALBY SPEAKS! (I swear, I think he is my favorite character XD)

(Sweeps papers off the desk) Now...while I was actually surprised with all of this...I still have some gripes.

Readers: (Instantly revived) UH OH!

For one thing, the characters were given a complete 180, which (while in the context of Brisingr is fine) makes it confusing for a person who read Eragon and Eldest. This is because everything they did, believed in, style of speaking, etc now contradicts all their crap in the other books.

Saphira is probably one of the best examples because this is first real glimpse we get of her character. In the other books, she is either portrayed as Eragon's nagging grandmother like-figure, (I believe one person who skipped Eragon and just read Eldest said that he didn't realize she wasn't human until halfway through the book because her voice didn't give any hint or animalistic impression) or a giddy-school girl (and those are complete opposites as is) but here her thoughts are more animalistic and self-centered...but where was all of that in the OTHER books!?

Normally, people think the way they talk (Or would that be the other way around?) so why wouldn't that hold true for Saphira? Her thoughts are very descriptive (Like she doesn't know the words for certain things) but she doesn't talk at all like that. Then of course, there are these thoughts in comparison to her lines in the other books...Oy vey, don't get me started.

I think the next biggest example would be Eragon himself.

First few books, he believe EVERYTHING and never questioned. Suddenly, he is actually starting to think for himself (He still thinks ABOUT himself way too much for him to be likeable, but I digress)

Now this would be an AWESOME transition...if it was an actual transition.

Most characters that I end up loving to pieces, I don't like right away. It's mostly because I don't trust them and their way of thinking. As time goes on, I either find something in common with them, or they themselves begin to change with the story.

Eragon did not change WITH the story.

He just...changed!

Zim and Megabyte are gonna take the longest because I'm gonna need to find the right fabrics and sew them on, along with all the non-human parts of their body. Foamy might not be done in time for Saboten simply because of the fact that I might not be able to get the right materials on time.

Yeah, I have NO clue how I am going to do this with honors, my writing, reading, and other crap. Don't ask.

PS: I'm tempted to do a MEG suit (I would need to find someone else to do it with me though) but I'm not quite sure how I would go about doing it.

Yup, folks...time for another one of Sarah's movie reviews...

Now I just saw TDK for the third time this evening with my mum and still loved every minute of it and finally decided that if I was to sum up the film in one sentence, it would be:

"Thanks to this movie, I've been able to revive my faith in the film-industry."

Going to movies lately has been a real chore for me. I mean seriously...paying ten bucks just to be bored for two hours? Watching shitty acting and a badly-written plot play out on the screen while the daylight burns away outside? Che...I think I'd rather be reading Breaking Dawn.

Wait...scratch that. I'd rather tear my eyeballs out, feed them to rabid chipmunks and grind the little fuckers into chili to pass out to the homeless.

Yeah, I'm pretty fed up.

Now unfortunately...most of my buddies think that IRONMAN was better. To me, that is just really disappointing because while Ironman is definitely a big step up from the Fantasic Four, The Hulk, and the pathetic piece of dribble that is the Spiderman saga...well it was still lacking...a LOT.

See, what I didn't like about Ironman was the fact that it STILL followed the super-hero movie plotline and pretty much scene for scene.

Also, you were never afraid, especially of the villain. Fuck, the villain wasn't unpredictable. You could track them through the film and never once be worried that they might decide to fuck their big plan and just blow things up for the heck of it. Nope! No REAL suspense because movie-goers just can't take that anymore...

Sorry guys, but it's time to start manning up your movies and make people piss their pants. Start investing in plastic seat cushions and mops and make some good fucking movies!

For your viewing pleasure, here is my condensed version of the typical Super-hero movie script set up by Spiderman:

1: Potential hero is introduced to the audience...usually they are normal people, but sometimes they are rich or famous in some way.
2: Something goes wrong which then leads to the hero becoming super and it usually changes their entire mindset for some reason too. That's never ever really explained well.
3: A costume is made and an identity is woven to fit the power/ablity.
4: First contact with crime...usually small timers that just make a lot of noise so they appear dangerous enough for the hero to face.
5: Villain introduced, evil scheme made and sort of revealed...but still fuzzy. Just enough is given so that the viewers know what the fuck is going on.
6: Love interest or family member causes hero angst which then gives the baddie the idea to kidnap them and use them again the hero.
7: Love interest/family member is put in danger due to the hero's...heroness. Hostage situation takes place...usually the hero has to choose between their loved one or random strangers.
8: Villain lays out his big plan for the hero when they think they've won it all.
9: Fight ensues, lots of cars, buildings...just lots of stuff blowing up, getting torn down, etc.
10: In the end, the hero wins (The villain dying in the end), no body important dies and the credits roll.

And if there is a sequel, then the film-makers feel the need to do all sorts of unnessacery flashbacks to the original to show how the hero became a hero. Oy vey...what a waste of money.

Simple, boring, predictable, and above all: UNREALISTIC.

Here are my problems with this format:

1: Origins should be done in flashbacks to save time...otherwise half the movie is spent trying to turn Mr. Average Guy into your friendly neighborhood super-punk rather than the actual plot.
2: Why is there ALWAYS fucking love interest and why does everything always work out even when it doesn't? Sorry, but life isn't that perfect and it shouldn't be enough moreso when you are a hero because...well shouldn't that just COMPLICATE THINGS?
3: You already know what the villain is gonna do...there is no suspense because you knew what was gonna happen. It doesn't matter if the villain kills a bag of puppies after ass-raping their owner or if he blows up a kindergarden building...if you know what is going to happen then there is no suspense nor shock when it finally occurs. The only thing it really leaves you to think about is just when the villain is just gonna go through with his fucking plan...but seriously...even that is pretty damn easy to predict if you just pay enough attention.
4: Love interest being kidnapped or in need of saving. Ok...when the villain knows that that particular person is important to the hero, then it sorta works..but when it just HAPPENS to be the love interest, then it's like...seriously...what are the chances of this happening to THIS particular person out of ALL the people living here? NOTE: For me to like any book or piece of writing in general, it must fit these criteria for me to even consider adding it to my favs. Watch out writers (Pay attention Leah XD)

1: No chat speak whatsoever.
Many people on FF.N seem to think that things like chat speak and script format are ok because it's not published and is just for fun. Sorry, but chat-speak needs to stay in the chatrooms and text messages, it does not belong even in practice writing...and seriously it makes EVERY character sound like a giggling gossipy girl whenever you use 'lol' to describe them laughing.

2: ABRA CADOUCHE!
Magic...it's usually a pretty cool plot device and is almost always a win with a fantasy lover like me...when it's done right that is. Magic should be used as a tool, designed fix certain things instead of it being like a pocket knife with twenty different uses and be able to pretty much solve every problem. Most people use magic as a way to explain away their own writing mistakes because when something goes wrong and doesn't make sense, PRESTO! Slap a magic label over it and the problem just goes away! When using magic, make rules for it, make it so that it is designed for certain and things and is unable to fix or do anything (Like in HP, you need a wand and the magic is limited to certain things like bringing back the dead, curing certain illnesses, blocking the killing curse, etc) This will make your magic all the more believable because it's not a tool chest, but one simply tool that enhances what your character already has instead of overshadowing him.

3: No blatant theft.
If I can recognize the plot instantly (And I'm not talking about the Hero's Cycle or any of the other main stream formats used by writers) by matching it up to another series and have it mostly fit in all the right areas, up to the point where I just have to remove the names from the preview and no one could tell the difference...Yeah...

4: No sterotypes please.
Ok, even the most sterotypical people out there in the world change after a while or have more going on beneath the surface. If you are going to follow a sterotype or cliche for a character, at least make them a believable person and don't ever toss them in just to propose an obstacle for your main character (I.E. Kate from Lizzie McGuire) or as a comic relief (Matsuda from Death Note) because it's usually pretty obvious...if you are going to bother giving a character that much screen time then give them some friggin depth!

Speaking of....

5: Don't toss in things just for the hell of it.
Just because you like a certain band doesn't mean that your characters have to pack up and go see one of their concerts during the middle of the plot...It may seem cool to you, but while you are off squealing, your readers are left going "Wait a minute...weren't they just in the Arctic Circle looking the last Polar Bear?" Unless something is fairly relevant to the plot, LEAVE IT OUT! You can always go back and write the scene for a side story, but don't disrupt the plot and it's flow...even if you just toss a stick into a river, the ripples go down all the way to the end.

6: No self-inserts or wish-fulfillment.
This is just plain annoying. Now your teacher might have told you to 'write what you know' but that doesn't mean write about yourself or what you would personally like to do...unless you are publishing a biography, try to focus on other things...Yes you might have to actually WORK and do research on some things before you go ahead and write, but trust me...It's not that difficult considering the internet and all its glorious...ness...

7: If you are going to have a romance...MAKE IT BELIEVABLE!
I despise authors who act as if all romance is just like Romeo and Juliet. For one, R&J SUCKED (As did most of Will's work in my opinion) and is not a realistic look on love at all...and two, if you've been in love...YOU SHOULD FRIGGIN KNOW! Most relationships begin either as friendships or stem from pure attraction...not instant love. Sorry, but love does not work like ramen: it's not perfect after just three minutes. Now if romance is the theme of your story then you might want to speed it up a bit, but let them be friends or something at first rather than 'two tragically lost strangers who found each other!'..Least then the cause partly equates to the effect.

8: Action!
Now I'm a fight fan...I love watching people kick the living crap out of each other in creative ways...but this is a different type of action that I am discussing with you today...It is the action in which your characters FRIGGIN DO SOMETHING! (Shudders) I swear...Meyer and Paolini...what am I to do with you both.

Now to be honest, I've only read sporkings of the book (Unlike with Eragon and Eldest where I actually bought both and slugged through them...complete waste of time and money. However, I plan to steal Hannah's copy of it when school gets back in and read the first five chapters. Usually the first chapter is shit so you have to give it more of a chance...but from what I've seen I doubt I'll even make it that far)

Still...from the sporkings and summaries of it that I've seen...I can still reasonably argue against the series.

First: WHY the fuck is this book so famous? I've seen countless vampire romance trash on the Sci-Fi/Fantasy shelves at Border's and Barnes and Noble...but what makes this one (Out of countless others just like it) 'speshul'?

Two: Everyone and their mother complains about Bella (AKA: Protagonist of the Year) being a Mary Sue with no character...and yet they still love the book.

I guess it's because it has a hot vampire in it (But like I mentioned above...there are plenty of other stories that have hot guys who suck blood...and suck as characters, so why is Edward Cullen the exception?)

Three: What is so special about vampires in general? I'm sorry, but it doesn't seem like Meyer changed anything...she basically said that all the myths were false (Which I've seen in many other stories...) but they still have inhuman strength, can read minds, suck blood, and in the case of Alice 'redict' the future.

I've never been one for vampires BECAUSE they are so overdone that they are cliched...well at least the idea and portrayal of them has become that way. Most vamps are either whining about being human, or they resist sucking blood, etc....they are basically all whiny little goths.

To be honest, the only vampire I've ever liked is Dracula (Yes, from the original way back when) and then his future self, Alucard. NOW THERE BE SOME FUCKIN VAMPS!

The reasoning behind this bias: they don't act HUMAN. Vampires are supposed to be a completely different species, but almost every story I've seen has them acting human, wanting to be human, falling in love with humans, etc...Dracula and Alucard show and admit that they are monsters (and proud of it!) and revel in the quirks of a vampire (but without being full of themselves) They want a challenge and they fail to understand human emotions and customs...in other words: EPIC WIN!

Cullen: FAIL

Apparently he and his family eat animals instead of humans and they all try to live normal productive lives...HOW THE HELL HAS SOMEONE NOT NOTICED THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVEN'T DIED YET!!? I mean Edward was supposedly over a hundred...and his dad like three centuries...but they all have jobs and go to school and such so they are registered as citizens and such...I just don't get how they have managed to sneak by for so long without someone noticing something.

Even in Chibi Vampire, Karin's family did not have jobs nor did they go out that much save for blood. Only Karin actually went out, was a real citizen, and was recognized by the public and she was born into vampism so she is only like...what was it, fourteen?

And why Forks, Washington? Why did they choose that place to settle down? Did they choose it because it's rainy (I.e. no sun) but that would be contradictory because Meyer already mentions that all the myths don't apply here (Save for the ones she deemed good enough for her crackpot novel)

Four: The 'epic' romance. Ok, we've already been told that Bella is a Sue (Reason being is that she is constantly described by homely...yet every male character hits on her. She also falls in love with Ed in the course of two days, never once freaks out about him being a blood-sucker, gets picked on by a popular girl, constantly needs to be helped or saved...yeah I'll stop right here) and that Edward is her 'true love'

Apparently Meyer's subtly didn't even get to page 27 (When Bella first sees him and swoons)

Now if Edward had 'glamour' THEN Meyer's could argue that Edward liked her and used that to seduce Bella...but the myths aren't used and besides...Ed doesn't like Bella at first. (Fake pouts) And he doesn't want human blood so Meyer has no excuse for this...

Wow...just wow...

I've only been to three cons and cosplayed three times, but being able to stay the whole weekend (Well...ALMOST)...Holy snaz.

Ok, I'll recap from day one and go from there:

When we arrived at the hotel, it was already filled with cosplayers in the lobby alone (Most of which were Ls and Misas) so I ran back to the car and pulled my jacket on, straightened my tie and grabbed my Death Note.

The hotel itself was really nice and even had this awesome indoor pool (but it made the room humid as hell! I never spent over thirty minutes in there for fear of death by exposure) Rina wanted to swim while we were there, but there was no way in hell that I was going out in a bathing suit with people from the con walking back and forth from their hotel rooms there to see T-T

Maybe next time...depending on how long we stay there (If we stay the entire weekend next time then Monday would be the best time to swim)

When we got to our room (After Rina and Leah ooed and aahed at the semi-exotic hotel and all its many guest-exclusive features), I applied some cover-up and watched Leah dress up (Took her like half an hour to apply all that make-up!) while Rina went out to find her friend Al who was also staying there. A few minutes later, Rina opened the door and said "This is Sarah, she is Light Yagami" and suddenly, the door banged open and a person dressed as human Inuyasha performed a running glomp...with scissors in her hand.

Needless to say, Leah's dad and I were vair vair freaked out.

After my 'death by glomp' experience, we headed out onto the floor and started walking around in circles, taking pictures and getting our pics taken. (Every time we passed an L or Misa cosplayer, Rina dragged me over to them and tried to get me to interact...most of the Misas glomped me and tried to pull me away by the arm and the Ls just either smiled awkwardly or accused me of being Kira, which of course, I promptly denied) Luckily, we bought some apples before we got there so I took out one and started munching as we milled around the convention. A girl offered us some pocky halfway through the convention hall and Leah's entire face lit up. Whenever she tried to give me a piece though, one of her friends would take it...but her face was SO red when she finally managed to get past all of them and give me my pocky and I said "Arigatou" with a smug smirk and a low voice. Gotta love flirty Raito and yes, it was incredibly fun (Here is a pic of my costume: [link])

IC: Pfft...sadist...

And Rina attacked and harassed every Sasuke and Ed Elric cosplayer she saw. Every time a Sasuke passed us, she would yell "Hey Sasu-GAY!" and if it was an Ed, then she would glomp him and yell "BROTHER!" (She had on an Alphonse hat...but didn't actually cosplay BRING A COSTUME NEXT TIME RINA!!! )

Death Note was obviously the anime of this year because while Naruto came at a close second, there were more Ls and Misas than could be counted at this con! No Lights though...save for me! (Least for the first day...I got so much L and Misa love...was kind of scary )

Too bad I missed the Death Note shoot though...I would have been the center of the picture T-T

Anyway, I got glomped several times, molested by a couple of Ls and then we found a SUPER IC L who walked, talked, sat, ate, held things...she was just him, I swear it was awesome! She accused me of being Kira and I denied everything and we bantered for a while...but then there was a Ryuk spotting.

Overall, I liked it even though it moved a little fast and I wasn't at all pleased with the beginning which recapped Earth's ENTIRE evolutionary history...which is all fine and dandy for a fuckin textbook!

Other than that though, I really cannot wait for what Alten has in store for us in the rest of the book...too bad it's gonna be the last one T-T

"Antigua: The Land of Fairies, Wizards and Heroes (Part 1) is the first of a trilogy. This story is a fantasy with magical characters such as a Sorceress, a Dragon, Fairies, Wizards, Knights, Kings, Queens, Pixies, and Gnomes. Here is a sample from the book: Suddenly, there were black clouds in the sky. Everyone heard a loud noise coming from the sky and they all knew that Voltar the Dragon was coming. King Artor yelled out, "Daughters, Voltar comes! Get ready your weapons! The time has come for you to fulfill the prophecy!" Princess Sasha, Princess Trina, Princess Alexandra and Rebecca walked up ahead of the army and lined up together in a row. They looked like warriors! Rebecca was not afraid! She took a deep breath and got her weapon ready for the task that lay ahead. She understood the prophecy now and had faith in herself and the Princesses. They each pulled out their bows and prepared to kill the dragon. Fire came out of his nostrils and his mouth. Princess Alexandra handed each of the other girls one of the special arrows that they had gotten from the Queen of the Unicorns. All four of the girls pointed their bows up into the air and waited for Voltar to come nearer. Voltar let out such a loud noise that the ground shook! Then fire came right out of his nostrils. The Wizard Thandor held his mighty wand up toward the sky and yelled, "Mighty clouds of the sky, I call upon you to bring forth lightening to destroy the Dragon Voltar!" Large lightening bolts came out of the clouds toward Voltar. One lightening bolt struck Voltar and wounded him, but it didn't kill him!"

Ok...why is it ALWAYS a trilogy with these fantasy books?

Just to let you all know, this is a self-published series by some stupid bitch who loves to use up the world's dropping sum total of exclaimation points...

All the reviews were one star, save for this one which gave it...FOUR STARS!?: I'm normally skeptical when I see books that have only 1-star reviews, as I think virtually nothing can be THAT bad, but this one made me curious. My cousins love the genre of fantasy, and I've read to them (both of them are girls) from Paolini and Rowling before to great success. I thought I would try something different, however, and this book seemed a great place to take a chance. I can honestly say after reading it that it's really not -as- bad as the previous reviewers make it seem. My cousins certainly enjoy it, and their ages are 11 and 13. It is a wonderful story that is more than capable of enticing children who listen to it, and it reminds me very much of the things my mother used to read to me when I was little.

Those who mentioned the excessive exclamation points as a problem: Yes, that's true, but I have a feeling you only read the first page or so (or probably even just the description given here on the Amazon page), because it becomes more normalized very quickly. I second most people's opinions that it is unethical to review your own book, but it is almost as unethical to review a book YOU HAVE NOT BOUGHT AND READ, so keep that in mind. Also, and I can't stress this enough, you are reviewing a -children's- book. You cannot read Antigua and approach it as though you are reading Hawthorne or Shakespeare. I also do not think it is condescending to refer to a children's book as what it is: A book for children/kids. I don't find that disrespectful, I just find it to be true. Those who study literature (like myself, I'm currently studying for a Master's in English Education) should know very well how different the style must be for a younger audience. We needn't critique societal and religious hypocrisy as Hawthorne does, or imperialism and gender roles as Shakespeare does, in children's literature. This is because, for the most part, children A) Just want to hear good stories, and B) Have not yet developed the critical thinking skills to analyze literature on a professional level; for them, heaped symbolism and complicated prose is just confusing and... well, boring. Keep in mind that if you gave a young child a copy of Shakespeare's "Othello" and told them to read it, you would probably turn them off of literature for the rest of their lives. It's not insulting or demeaning to their intelligence. Rather, I find it more insulting to adult intelligence, since some here seem to think that young teen and pre-teen children tend to be just as wise/intelligent as the average adult. I like to think I've gotten a bit smarter than that in the last ten years, personally. Education helps.

Now, I do have one other complaint. Chapter breaks would be very helpful. In children's literature, normally you will have a grown-up readign the book to them, so it's extremely helpful to have a definite place to stop reading for the night. Does anyone else agree that this seems almost word for word 'Star Wars'? I mean seriously, if you took out the names and replaced them with the ones from 'Star Wars' how many people would know the difference?

Let's see:

The only thing I changed were the names and I took out the last part of a sentence (I took out "and the elves and dwarves") and yet it almost PERFECTLY fits the plotline of Star Wars.

Coincidence? NO!

I do not have high hopes of the Brown Brick at this point because it is obvious that Paolini has not improved since Eldest (If the snippet at the end of Eldest was any proof) and the blantant ripping of other's work is just fuckin insulting.

Talk to professional editors (I have and there tend to be 2 things they do: either tell you you aren't even ready for professional editing or they rip you to pieces...but in a good way ) and they will tell you what's what. Also submitting work (without posting your age or anything like that...otherwise they might go easy on you) to writing forums, and such will definitely bring in a more rounded view on your work.

Four words: THEY. DIDN'T. DESERVE. PUBLICATION.

Most of the young teenaged authors were published because they had connections, not because they actually had an original story, amazing characters, or an intricate plotline.

The reason for their publication is also because of their young age.

Companies want to exploit that fact because people will buy stuff that they are told is astounding and what isn't more fansinating that reading a book written by a 15 year old? They must be a prodigy to be published!

For those of you who are unaware, publishing is friggin near impossible. Now you might say "Then how the hell did they get published unless they were good?"

Like I mentioned before, it was all because of their AGE. It is a gimick used to bring in people. I got sucked in as well when an Eragon article appeared in Nick Mag a couple years back. A fifteen year old with his own book! How amazing, just a kid! So I bought the book and it's sequel (which had come out in hardcover by that time) and eagerly dove in.

Before in a previous journal, I hacked away at Eragon by Christopher Paolini partly for this reason. Seriously, if he had had a really good editor and kept working and getting better, he could have had an AMAZING story....however it seems (This is just based on the third brick spoilers. And yes, these are bricks. The length of a novel doesn't guarantee the quality of it and to me, this piece of trash would have served better as some foundation [link] this article describes this hilarously!) that he know thinks that since he is published and famous across the globe, he doesn't need to improve or work on his craft.

His writing in the third brick (Now titled: Brisingr...which supposedly means 'fire' but to me it's bull...I mean it has 3 fucking consenents in a row for one and two the title has nothing to do with the series at all!) was just as flat, boring, and long-winded as it ever was.

And Eldest really did deserve Newsweek's 'worst book of 2005' award. That brick just took the cake.

(Clears throat) But today I am here to rip another young author who has also climbed her way to fame and fortune due to family connections (Not unlike Mr. Paolini)

Any of you ever heard or read 'The Prophecy of the Stones'? Well to tell you the truth, I have not.

After reading this and the summary [link] I was convinced it was trash.

In the story snippet, the action stops for description, the style CONSTANTLY breaks the 'show don't tell rule', and in just a paragraph, she has already has me despising her main character.

Now you may say "Well it's because the main character is spoiled, of course you don't like her!"

Well that never stopped me from liking other spoiled rich people like Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter), Light Yagami (Death Note), Bud Harris (MEG), or Logan Cale (Dark Angel)

The reason for this is that their spoiled nature isn't the first thing (and only thing) that characterizes them even when they are first introduced.

-Bud for example is totally whipped by his best friend's ex and is a fast paced person who is quick to make rash life-altering choices.

-Light is a bored smartass who just wants more than just the everyday recognition he receives for just being himself. He wants to be more than just another face that people see or even look up to.

-Draco is a outlandish bully who is actually very cowardly and afraid, forced all his life to follow the ideals of others and outlashes at anyone who goes against those ideals because they are all he has ever been taught.

-Logan is a genius child who decided to use his money and ablilty to speak out against the things he felt were just downright wrong and risked everything to achieve this,

Lots of unexpected variation between all these people who were all born rich and had life handed to them on a platter huh? But does their wealth really describe them as a person? NO. It may define their lifestyle, but not them as people.

As for the summary of this 'epic' tale...it sounds like the summary for a bad fanfic. Some people have been fairly civil in the debates...and others just plain idiotic.

Anyway, I've finally had enough and simply dropped most of the convos (Only kept one with a fair-minded Pro-lifer) but decided to restate my argument in hopes of receiving some new intelligence on the debate here on dA (Since the people are Youtube have NO idea what the hell they are talking about)

Abortion will never stop being performed.

I'm sorry, but there will always be women out there who do not wish to go through with birthing and raising a child and as long as there are women out there like that, there will always be people willing to perform the operation.

This is DANGEROUS! The people willing to perform such a procedure illegally will most likely kill or mutilate these poor women.

Think of the alcohol ban! It was originally intended for the good of society and yet that is one of the times in history where we sunk the lowest. This is because there were no more alcohol companies to supply healthy drinking limits and warning advertisements (Demanded by the government for the publics safety)

Even if it was banned? What should the woman's punishment be for getting an 'illegal' abortion? Jail time or death sentence...after all she did murder her child didn't she? That counts as man-slaughter! (But that would go against ' Pro-Life' now wouldn't it?) Yes, as much as the Pro-Lifers hate to admit it: crimes need punishment and if you are going to make it a crime to have an abortion, you need to fill in the blank for a proper punishment. So far, most people have told me that "God will punish her." but for what other crime do we give that as a punishment? Seriously, people...

Back to my example: the reason why less people drink and smoke now is because the companies have been forced by the government to issue health notices and advertise the right amount to people.

Now some people say "Well we knew the dangers of smoking for years, yet people are quitting now when we have restrictions on it and it costs more"

It costs more because the government puts TAXES on them! And no offense, but a smoker isn't going to stop just because of the cost (If someone really wanted to quit, I think the health risks would be more of a motivation than the inconvienence of cost)

Also, old habits are harder to break than they seem. Think of Global warming. We've known about it for a while, yet there haven't been any big strides until just recently because we didn't care enough to work ourselves out of the rut. It's almost like a disease. It takes more than just one generation for the population to become immune.

Now I'm sure we all know how many people smoke pot even though it's banned...that doesn't stop the stoners!

And the restrictions on smoking don't do anything either. If the kids in my school want to smoke, it doesn't take a lot to get a supply. Even though they are underage, the restriction will not stop them from doing it if they want to.

So think about it...is banning the operation REALLY going to stop it? No, it probably won't even discourage those that want it or need it....the only thing it WILL do is end even MORE lives.

Personally, I think that if they really want to end abortion, they should be smart and keep it legal because while it's legal, people are being told about the dangers (Because it is tramatizing like any surgery) and what is healthy because the medical practices are supposed to (if they are doing their jobs right). Also, now we are starting to really educate people on safe sex (Which isn't always perfect, but it helps a ton!) It will take a while, but once the message is really nailed in, people will start being more careful and less abortions will have to be performed.

Now another argument that has been given to me is the "Most women regret getting their abortion."

This is utter bullshit.

Yes, there are plenty of women out there who regret it, but just as many who benefit from it.

So just because a few regret it, we should ban it for everyone? Now that doesn't make any sense because at the time, I bet these women were glad that they HAD the choice to make instead of being told right out that they had to have the baby. The only thing that went bad here is they made the wrong choice for THEMSELVES...but they still had the choice and they made theirs, which is what is really important.

-KakuHida (One is a sadist, the other a masochist, they fight like a married couple...hell they are a perfect match)

-KisaIta (Kisame obviously has to take care of Itachi whenever his eyes give out or when his chakra levels are low. Even though he looks like a brute, he speaks politely and genuinely seems to respect Itachi instead of fear him.)

The character I love the most: DEIDARA!

The character I'm the most like: Shikamaru or Kakashi. Totally lazy, always making lame ass-excuses to procrastinate, and I'm TOLD that I'm a genius, but never act/feel like it.

The character I wish I were more like: Naruto..Yes you heard me right. I want his bright annoying cheerfulness that can turn even the toughest emo into a smiling dimwad. Also want to be able to change the world and currently...he is pretty much doing it.

The character I wish I could get rid of: Tenten because she is absolutely worthless and getting rid of her would take nothing away from the story. Ebisu can just go die as well...such an asshole.

The best looking character: DEI OF COURSE! But Hidan isn't that bad and Kabuto is teh lurve! (YAY FOR SMEXY HENCHMEN!)

The character with the best personality: Tobi! He's with a badass group of morbid serial killers and yet he still manages to remain all smiley and cheerful...Kudos to the swirly mask!

The funniest character: Hidan and Tobi. Seriously...whenever Hidan curses I feel like I'm watching South Park and Tobi...heh...He's just so cute!

The most boring character: Like I said before, Tenten...I mean seriously, what is her purpose in the story!?

The most annoying character: Old style Sakura (for caring more about Sasuke than anything else and ending her friendship with Ino over it), Old style (and I guess current) Sasuke (for being morbidly emo over 99.9% of the time) , and Old style Ino (for ending her friendship with Sakura over a guy)...god...I just wanted to strangle them all!

The most tragic character: Gaara. He definitely got the short end of the stick.

The first character I fell in love with: Iruka; he's so darn cute (cuddles)

The character I used to not like but now I do: Sakura, she's gotten a lot better now and my respect for her has risen along with it. Same with Neji (because I used to think he was a total bastard)
