Irish 24 Hour Comics Day has joined forces with the ChildrenÂs Book Festival and the International Manga Museum Kyoto to produce a brilliant range of events for budding and established artists of all ages including a comic jam, workshops with comic-book experts and the creator of ÂMorris the Mankiest MonsterÂ, together with an international manga expert all the way from Japan!

The 24 hours will run from 11 am Saturday 17th October until 1pm Sunday 18th October, and is the Dublin branch of an international initiative that sees artists and cartoonists each working away to produce their own full 24 page comic in just 24 hours. Everyone is welcome to get involved, whatever their background, artistic experience or age. And this year there will be events for kids for the first time, desgined to welcome them into the comic world.

There will be a reading table featuring comics from around the world for people to dive into and hopefully discover some new work. There will be a shop selling mini comics and an anthology printed just for the day. And a free table where people are welcome to place free comics, flyers/badges/stickers/leaflets for their webcomic, website, comic, event or project.

24 hour comic drawing starts at 13:00 on Saturday and runs until 13.00 on Sunday. Folks can draw for the full 24 hours or any part of.

Sarah McIntyre, creator of Vern & Lettuce for the DFC, will be reading from her new book "Morris the Mankiest Monster" in Waterstones Jervis Street at 2pm on Sunday 18th and running a workshop for people to create their own monster at Eason's O'Connell Street store at 11am Monday 19th.

Tusyoshi Ogawa, visiting artist from the International Manga Museum, will be hosting a series of Manga workshops in Navan Library on Monday 19th and at the Blackbird Gallery Kilkenny Tuesday 20th.

Alot of work happening for 24 hour comics day, details of some of the workshops are starting to come together.

* there will be a giant free for all comic jam for the younger kids. All the kids taking part will draw one big giant comic story that we'll cut up into sections so everyone can take a piece home.
* Phil Barrett will be running a mini comic workshop for 8 to 12 years olds where they will make their own 7 page mini comic.
* Very excited to announce that the international Manga Museum in Kyoto are sending one of their Artists, Tsuyoshi Ogawa, to run a manga assistant drawing workshop. This workshop hopes to give those taking part an understanding of how comics are produced in Japan and what it is like to work as a manga assistant. Participants will get to try their hand at inking with both nib and brush. We will be running two workshops, one for kids [kids under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult] and one for teens/adults. Ogawa-San and his translator will be around to answer any questions on Manga that people might have through out the day.
* Sarah McIntyre, Children's Book Illustrator and creator of Vern & Lettuce for the DFC, will be running a character design workshop and reading from her new book "Morris the Mankiest Monster".
* The Comic Cast will host a round table talk with Irish comic creators focusing on getting started and self publishing your work both in print and on the web. Full list of participants will be posted closer to the event. I would like to encourage people to either comment here or get in touch with me if they have any questions/topics they would be interested in seeing discussed during the talk.

We raised Â1157 for Goal at the release party in Thurles at the weekend. We also raised a further Â750 on top of that. I'm just blown away with how well the book has been accepted by people. We decided to put a Dublin release party together due to the number of Dubs who said they wanted to come to the Tipp release but like typical Dubs couldn't get past the magical barrier that stops them from going down the country.

If you've liked the monoprint series I posted then you might be interested in picking up a copy of the book as a number of the monoprints are printed in it.

On Monday I found out I'd been offered a place on the Lingua Comica 3 project - the project runs for 2 months and involves an online comics collabration between 7 European cartoonists and 7 Asian cartoonists then all 14 go [all expenses paid mind you] to Kyoto, Japan, for a week of workshops and more collabrative work. Needless to say I'm super excited about the whole project and really looking forward to starting.

There was one little snag, the week I'm due to be in Japan clashes with the Thought Bubble comics show in Leeds that I was really looking forward to even more so as it looked like I would be missing both SPX and Birmingham [both yet again on the same day, I was meant to go to SPX but it all got changed at the last minute and I thought I'd left things to late for the Birmingham show] As luck would have it a fellow Irish female cartoonist, the lovely Bridgeen Gillespie, was due to be at Birmingham but had to pull out and offered her table. I will have the GOAL anthology for sale at Birmingham as well as some of Bridgeen's work. My friend Will offered to take my Thought Bubble table and bring some of my comics and the GOAL anthology to sell so it's all worked itself out.

Everything has been a bit of blur since the funeral. My birthday was somewhere in the middle of the whole mess but I really didn't want to think about it this year. I got an etching press and I'm looking forward to pulling some prints on it but I can't really focus on it right now. Going to chill and play zelda for a bit. Still heading to SPX in a couple of weeks, won't finish the new mini comic I started now but can't see anyone really giving me shit given what happened. Might be able to pull some prints before and sharing the table with Griffin and Ava so looking forward to comic overload and chilling with friends.

I'm finished on Brendan [link]......wow its amazing how it makes me both really sad and happy to type that. Twas nearly a year ago when I posted on this journal about taking the job but then it was only going to be for two months not 12!

I'm happy cus it is nice when things come to an end, I know that may sound weird but if stuff went on forever you'd get pissed off with it and no longer enjoy it. I had a great time on Brendan, and working at the Cartoon Saloon and learned so much and its made me really look forward to starting on something new.

Sad cus I really enjoyed working on this film, I'm going to miss it. Everything has been shipped overseas to be finished and I think we are looking at a Summer '08 realease. The film is going to be just amazing and I'm realy not saying that cus I worked on it, its just a really beautiful design and we had a bunch of really talented artists working on it.

I'm also sad cus you know what finishing means? yup I have to move again! Not right away, thankfully, I'm going to chill for August, get through the backlog of personnal work I've been meaning to get done and depending on what I want to work on next, we shall see were I end up moving to. I also need to catch up with people, I've become very bad for replying to phone messages/emails/comments/notes etc etc.

I'm off to Oxford this coming weekend for the Caption comic con, the con people claim the venue hasn't been washed away by the recent floods so looking forward to a fun weekend.

London was fantastic and the comic thing went really well - full report with pictures coming soon, once i figure out were the cable for my camera is. I wasn't going to go but I think I will hit the bristol comic con in May, I've had an offer of a space to crash and the flights are less the 50euro so really i'd be silly not to go. i don't think I can wait until the end of June for MoCCA. It's thing time again! The uk web and mini comix thing is on march 17th [[link] and drinks are on for the firday night [and if last year is anything to go by it should be a blast check the forums on the site for location and time info]

Last night I discovered I actually sold a load of prints! I assumed DA would email or note or something if I sold a print [and maybe they did i just didn't spot it]. I know they don't tell you who added stuff to wish lists or bought your prints but i thought i'd at least told something had sold. Still thats just a minor moan, super happy that people like the prints.

I finally found my camera today so I can get some pictures of the new house and kilkenny in general up. Camera went missing just before the dublin comic con back in november and I was starting to think I'd lost it.

I have done nothing all day today and do you know what? It was great. I had to stay home as my cat had an op at the vets yesterday and I needed to make sure she didn't pull her stiches out. So I watched an entire sesson of law and order on DVD [yes still no tv in new place] and scanned some pages from my sketch book. I'm tempted to hit a late show in the cinema but the wind outside is putting me off.

Outside of today I've been Busy busy busy at both work and on other projects. The film is moving along thou we're having computer issues with one of the overseas studios we're working with. I've rather foolishly taken on some freelance illustration jobs so the very little free time I had is pretty much gone but one is only a postcard design job for a medical frim so shouldn't take up to much time [thouch wood] I've started going swiming on wednesdays with my friend Tara and on thursday I went to an archery club with lads from the studio and twas a good laugh and from taking to people on firday sounds like it might be a regular thing. I have comics due for three comic anthologies which i haven't made much headway on [bad me] and need to start getting zines and prints together for the uk mini comic con in march [which mental note i still have to book flights for so then my friend can book the hotel for us]

On the plus side got an email from MoCCA saying they are increasing the size of the con in june so I'm really looking forward to heading back to new york for that and Scott

is going to come back to ireland with me for a week [he hates flying so its very good of him to come] and we might drag some more friends with us.

So I've been absent from DA for a big chunk of december and have returned to find my hits counter thingy at the top of the page has gone past a nice big round number, so cool and cheers for stopping by.

As mentioned in my last journal I am now living in Kilkenny full time, got a lovely little house just down from the train station and a 15min walk from the studio. The film is moving along nicely, or at least i think my part on it is, I'm sure our director Tomm is mad stressed but then it is his baby.

I never really paid attention to my prints store as I found it to annoying trying to upload prints to it but the new set up there is alot more user friendly. So I've been absent from DA for a big chunk of december and have returned to find my hits counter thingy at the top of the page has gone past a nice big round number, so cool and cheers for stopping by.

As mentioned in my last journal I am now living in Kilkenny full time, got a lovely little house just down from the train station and a 15min walk from the studio. The film is moving along nicely, or at least i think my part on it is, I'm sure our director Tomm is mad stressed but then it is his baby.

Hey does anyone feel like doing a print/art trade for xmas? I'm up for trading either digital prints or traditional prints just comment or note if interested. I got some nice stuff last year and have space for some more.

Yes I have to move again. My contract at the Saloon [link] has been extended until June/July and it seems silly to commute for over an hour on a very bumpy bus for that long a time. Plus there's a ton of work coming in now from the other studios and that means lots of work me to do. O and I love my job

I've a ton of comments, notes, emails and phones calls I need to return so sorry to all who've been trying to get in thouch me, I left my phone in portland, got a new one but lost all my numbers and I've been spending my time outside the studio walking our new dog [dalmation/lab mix] so no real net time. The Dublin Comic Con is next weekend, should be a good laugh and hopfully I'll be sorted with somewhere to live in kilkenny and back to regular net activity.

*update* I got a house sorted in Kilkenny and I'll be moving in tomorrow - its a very pretty house right near the train station and 15 min walk to work. Will post some pics of it and kilkenny at some point. Eircom claim they can move my boardband in one day which i assume means it will take 2 weeks. Got my confirmation email for MoCCA [link] in June and have paid for my table at the Thing [link] in march in london so already starting to look good for cons in 2007. The thing should be interesting as its on Paddies day [march 17th] so will have to do something very tacky and green for it.

My friends took our anthology to SPX this weekend so to all who stopped by Cheers. So glad i didn't go now, as much as i would have liked to have seen my friends and just hung out with lots of comic heads, I would have been waaaaaaaaay to tired to have enjoyed it.

Yes I'm moving again, I've accepted a job with the cartoon saloon [link] for the next couple of months but they are based in kilkenny which I can't really commute to from Dublin so I gotta move - I'm starting monday so gotta pack quick. I'm going to be working on the production side of their feature film "Brandon and the secret of kells" I've been following the development of the film since i was a student in Ballyer and have to say I think its looking fantastic and am really looking forward to working on it no matter what I'm doing on it. Back in Dublin after nearly two months in New York, miss my friends in NYC but not the heat, the weather here is actually ok at the moment, odd bit of rain but we're having an ok summer. Kitten is here on trail run to see what she thinks of the place. Super cute but very hyper and picky eater, jurry still out on wither we keep her or not. Went to see Billy Joel in concert saturday night, amazing concert, so glad i came home in time for it.

I'm putting something together for 24 hour comic day in october, feedback online via [link] and [link] have been for the most part positive so hopfully we'll pull something interesting together. Already had a couple of friends from england say they would come over to Dublin for the weekend so that at least will be fun. Working on three different comics which is confusing

and getting stuff ready for college.

Came home to find Big Brother is still taking up most of channel 4's day, which sucks cus channel 4 is normally great - most people outside of the uk and ireland go on and on about the BBC but channel 4 is so much better, they did father ted, Teachers, and Shameless [finally got series 1 on DVD]

Thou speaking of the Beeb, last night was the last Top of the Pops, how sad? after 40+ years on the bbc no more TOTP, not that I've watched it recently but got alot of memories of growing up in 80's with TOTP. And Top Gear is finished until october, at least UKG2 is showing repeats of Have i got news for you, never mind the buzzcocks and QI - man i wish the BBC would put together a DVD of Buzzcocks like they did for both HIGNFY and They think it's all over. Reading "the line of beauty" by Alan Hollinghurst which was made into a "BBC Drama" last year thou its pretty much porn, kinda like Tipping the velvet

Still in new york for another week and I'm having a great time seeing friends and just enjoying having some time off but I want to go home now as I've got a kitten waiting for me. One of the other memebers of the illustrators guild was looking for homes for three kittens and I said I'd take one. So its weird wanting to stay and go home

*update* After a long rambling curry lunch with friends I have decided to name my kitten "El Topo", from the film "El Topo" directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky cus Jodorowsky is a genuis - and dang italy won the world cup, I wanted France to win cus I think Ribery is a like a little puppy - what was up with the Zidane headbutt?*update*

Weird thing happened in the lift today. I'm staying on the 16th floor but the building appears to be pretty empty and for the most part getting to and from 16 has been pretty painless. Today I was riding the lift up to 16 when we stopped on 15, this guy, talking loudly on his phone, gets on and presses the button for 15. Now i've done that, meant to hit lobby or something and hit the floor i was on by mistake so I don't think much of it at first until he does it again. So the lift of course just stays on 15 while he continues to talk on his phone, loudly, and press the button for 15. He does it four more times, i kid you not, before i leaned over and said "we're already on 15" He says "O, thanks" and gets off, still on the bloody phone.

Then after collecting stuff from my room, i go to head back downstairs. There's a girl waiting for lift, we both get on, I hit L, she hits 3. We stop at 12, she says goodnight to me for some reason and goes to get off but i point out its 12 not 3. She gets back on, the person on 12 who pushed the button gets on to0 and she presses 7. We stop at 7, 7 girl gets out and so does 3 girl. Again i tell her its not 3, she gets back on. We stop 5, yep same thing again. Final we get to 3 and she gets off.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I broke my scanner!!! Damn it. I can't even be mad at anyone as it was my own fault, i was rushing and knocked it off the desk and the glass just shattered. Damn it anyway. Have to fork out for a new and I only got that one in october. Bad me Bad me!!!!! At least i can abuse college scanner if i need one.

The reason I was rushing was I had a pile of extra classes dumped on me at the last minute. I was so on top of everything - last class done, grades all filed, i just had to show up for the end of year meetings at the end of may - but one of the other teachers went AWOL so i got called in. Still the classes turned out to be ok, not much i could really do at this stage of the year.

Also there's a ton of kids running mad around my apartment block, there doesn't seem to be any parents around and the kids are just throwing rubbish everywhere and i had to yell at one when he started throwing cd's at my bird feeders. He came back with a friend and had the friend throwing cd's so i came outside and took photos of them with my camera [was so tempted to yell "i'm stealing your souls hahahahaha"] that seemed to scare them off but will have to wait and see.

My grandparents have been married for 60 years this week, not to shabby.

So what's with the joural title? Well "Kineso" is the name of our first comics anthology which, fingers crossed, will be on sale at MoCCA. We started it with the loose theme of travel hence my recent Luas comic. We came in with a total of 62 pages of comics by 12 artists [thou only two women counting myself, that needs to be fixed!!]. I'll post more info about the book closer to MoCCA.

Now that my comic for the anthology is out of the way, i want to try and do something with this whole Key thing, I'm not sure what yet. I talked with a friend recently who has 4 keys on his keyring and he only knows what 1 is for, he has no clue what the other 3 are for. I've got some ideas, running around but still no clear direction.

I will be in New York for a good part of the summer as my classes will finish at the end of this month and I won't be back teaching until september.

I live in an apartment complex that has four apartment blocks inclosed by a fairly high wall [about 12 foot i think but im not great with hights] I live in a ground floor apartment right at the back of the complex which means I'm right by the wall but there's about a 10 foot space from the apartment to the wall. To make it look all friendly and stuff they've planted grass and trees. Cus I'm on the gound floor I've got a patio door that leads out into this small little bit of green.

Why I'm I boring you with all this? Well the other week I'm got a small bird feeder on impulse and hung it just outside the patio door. I woke up to find some small birds outside my window so I got a couple more feeders and now I have loads of little birds. There are 4 or 5 blue tits and 1 very cheeky male robin along with some others i don't know what they are. It's so amazing to sit by the window and watch them all. I must try and take some photos for my scraps or at least do some sketchs.

Good: Two interesting art related jobs coming up.

I got on to the artists in prison scheme which is run by the Arts Council here in Ireland. When you get on the scheme your name is put on a panel of artists who then go into the different prison education centers and help run various art projects. It's explained a little better here [link] Anyway i just thought it sounded very interesting, rewarding and something different to try.

Yesterday I was offered some teaching hours at my old animation college. I'm teaching one class for the rest of the school year and maybe a couple of others. I'm both excited and really nervous.

I'm currently working on an 8 page comic for

the teaching offer has messed up my schedule but shouldnt delay it by to much. I won't be posting it here as it's not for me.

Once i've those pages done I've got to start on a comic for an anthology my friends and I are putting together. It's called "lucky 7's" and at the moment theres 10 artists contributing. It will be on sell at the uk web comix thing [link] march 11th and MoCCA next June.

I hope to start posting regularly on DA again at the end of january. The print lab i want to use is re-opening to new memebers at the start of january so fingers crossed that it actaully will and I can start printing again, yeah!

And I've had all my xmas shopping done since the middle of november, I have never been this organised before. Granted alot of people are getting books from the bookstore i work at cus i get a 20% discount, is that cheating?

Bad: hmmmmmmmm can't really think of anything.

Random: I pass by this chinese restaurant/takeaway every day on my way home. It's a pretty standard looking chinese takeaway with huge signs for all the usuall meals you expect to find there but right in the middle of the window is a large sign proudly stating that they serve a "full traditional Irish breakfast". I don't know why put it always makes me really happy when i pass by.

club had a dev meet last saturday [yes i know i'm really late writing this up but I just got my broadband set up this evening] They had a whole day of DDR and, em, I'm not sure what else cus i was stuck in work all day and didnt make it out till late. i also double booked the night, i'd promised my friend John we'd go out as he missed our halloween/bank hoilday trip to galway. So john and I met

at Karma. Came as across as a crazy person to most of the other people in the bar as i wandered around asking people if they were from deviant art before happienoodleboy found us. Nice bar, music was a little loud but at least it wasn't crap music. Had a few drinks [blue WKD] and then myself and john went to the village for some late night dancing. i felt bad I didnt show up earlier and didnt stay longer but it was still fun to meet people and try and match the person to the DA account

Hope to make the whole of the next meet if they'll have me.

Good news - I have tv as of last week. turns out there was nothing wrong and the three different NTL guys who came out were just idoits[or so the 4th one said] And, as mentioned, I have broadband as of an hour ago. Yes i havent posted any work for ages but I have been working, just not on personal stuff so i can't post it here, dang!

bad news - 155euro for the tv licence WHAT THE!!!!!! Havent gone near website since I posted opening soon sign lol thats bad must finish Santas house is beside our shop which means millions of kids all weekend and we're beside a cinema to boot so next week santa AND potter! Plus the parents seem to think the kids books section is a criche.

Good news - my boxes arrived yesterday from New York. My flat now looks like a bomb hit it as i try and find room for everything. So happy to have my books back. I'm missing one box [which isnt bad i guess out of 30] and it has some of my handmade books in it which sucks but I live in hope that it will show up.

bad news - print lab is still having work done to it so won't be reopening till at least the end of the month. Pain but gives me time to work on stuff to print so I'll be ready to go when it does open.

I'm putting my little list of current projects back up cus I found I was much more productive with it. This list is mainly personnal projects I want to do, i don't list the freelance work I'm doing just my own projects.

Current projects in the order they currently are being focused on:

Star sign project - I started playing around with ideas for a series of prints based on the zodiac over a year ago and posted some ideas in my gallery but I could never really get into the project but, while sick, I had some ideas and have started sketching them out. Will be postcard size silkscreen prints so finished work will have to wait until I have acess to a print lab again but will post cleaned up sketches, hopefully in the coming weeks.

Ztoical.com - I did start this, at long last, but i started the day i got sick so didnt get very far lol. Got a quick "opening soon" sign up and started working everything else on puter must sit down and finish it over the next couple of weeks. I just feel like drawing right now and not sitting in front of powerbook.

"Children of Lir" comic - 28 page comic, gosh this is dragging on, comic is finished more or less. A graphic design friend is lettering it for me and i need to redo a couple of panals before he starts, should only take me a day just need to sit down and do it.

Grandad - wanted to do a comic based on my Grandads stories about WW2 but I think I'm gonna start with a smaller 15ish page comic and work up from there, break it down into chapters or something.

The Planets - more etchings based on the planets, have an idea but don't want say anything until i see if it works or not.

Travel book - small silkscreen book of my trip across europe and another of my train trip around the USA and Canada. Only about 10 pages per book but planning on using 4 colour process for printing so 4 printings per page. Started playing with printing ideas over the summer now waiting to have acess to a silkscreen lab again to get back into it.

Working girl animated short - based on my comic of the same name. Being back with all my animation friends has made me want to do this again, it kinda got kicked to the side over the summer. Could be a lot of work so not jumping in right away but reworking storyboards and talking to people about doing a classical/flash thing. Need to find a good line tester for a mac, my one only works on pc.

On going t-shirt project with Amber - my friend is a costume designer but isnt that into drawing, I'm into drawing but can't sew to save my life so were playing around with some t-shirt and skirt design. They may end looking like shit or look great who knows. Can actually do something on this now I'm back in Dublin.

Dahmer comic - this is an ongoing project that i work on when ideas come to me. work for this posted in gallery - no clue how much more of this there is or if there is any more.

Tarrot cards - big project, pushed way back. Alot of sketches and such done for this but actually finished work will not be produced until all the cards are fully designed. Could be well over a year before this gets finished.

So thats it, things may get moved around again depending on access to equipment and space and just motivation for a particular project.

So my late night internet wandering came across another cool self refernce find - [link] I was staring stupidly at the image [and the name] for a second thinking "wow that looks familiar" haha silly me!

Anyone in the portland area this saturday should check out the Stumptown comic fest [link] Our table is number 67 and wonderfully Max Turner will be large and in charge. I don't know if shes bringing any of her own prints but i hope she does as she has some fantastic work. There will be small framed prints from my planets etching series, i'm not sure what ones are left as they sold really well at SPX. There's also some postcards [link] , buttons and stickers [link] that are free take aways and copies of my green fields [link] comic and nighswimming zine [link] , I'm pretty sure I priced both at $1 but i can't remeber lol There will be piles of other amazing art and i really want a copy of the festival poster.

Break from comic cons then until Angouleme [link] in January and the uk mini comic thing [link] in march. If anyone is going to either of these let me know I'd love to meet up with people at them.

Yes today is my birthday and my scanner arrived so I tested it out by scanning the last few prints I made before i moved.

Seeing as I've been so busy with work, and catching up with friends, and you [yes you!] came here to see good [at least i hope its good] art I thought I'd stick up some links to my fav online artwork [not counting DA stuff] while i work on some new stuff.

Gill Frank [link] I don't know the other two but this is my boy Gill. We studied animation together at Ballyer. Gill's been working in Austria for the past year so the sites hasnt been updated which is a shame.

Clio Chiang [link] Another person i don't know but whose site i found and think is cool.

Animation boy [link] Guy i went to college with. I'm divided about his work, its the kind that you like when you first see it but his big prob is that he gets a bit repetitive.

Those few should keep people entertained for a little while.

I have a backlog of nearly 400 deviantions on my watch list that I need to check out! Dang i hate dial up. Major thanks to everyone who commented on my work this week. I have internet access again - actually i have dial up access which sucks cus all the sites i check out are image heavy so take ages to load. The phone company is all set to give me band but the phone line they put in is still listed to the last person who had - whose dead! For some reason their system is not updating and until it does they can't do anything. i wonder if i'll be charged for any of the calls im making? Weird!

I'm also without TV at the moment too cus according to the cable company - my flat aint there! I've had them out twice now and every time they try and connect me up they tell me they can't find my flat on their system - 27 is there and 29 but no 28. Weirder and werider.

Its not all bad news thou, i walked right back into my old job at the bookstore. I called in and ask my old boss about a job and the guy who had my old job had just quit - all my manger asked me was when i could start. So i get to work 2 - 3 days a week and that leaves me loads of time to focus on my artwork and I get my book discount back

I got a new scanner or at least its on its way. My studio[my spare bedroom] is starting to look all shinny and comfy. Cann't wait for the rest of my books to arrive from new york. Will start hopfully updating again in 2 weeks right now I'm just chillin with friends and getting back into the swing of things in Dublin and just enjoying myself for a bit. oooo and forbidden planet in dublin doesnt suck for comics anymore - they actually sell decent stuff now and Kevin is there more and the rest of the staff arent morons anymore.

some news first:
Firstly i'm very honored some of my etchings are being featured in the 12th issue of the online magazine "Sonitus Noctis" [link] It's all in spainish but still an interesting magazine with some great work.

While looking through the list of exhibators for SPX I found a review of one of my comics [link] Good review, calls me out on a number of errors i should have caught and fixed.

Moving back to my apartment in Dublin today, i need to get Eircom in to set up the internet. Not sure how long thats going to take, you now what phone companies are like when they say they'll be "right over". Hopefully I'll get boradband and not dial up but NTL already said they couldnt put boradband in for another few months- dang - i hate dial up. how can my parents in the middle of nowhere get boardband but me in dublin city center cann't get it?

*quick update* Eircom can put in BB but i need to get the phone line reconnected first which is going to take 20+ days - dang it, o well I cann't upload much to dA at the mo anyway till my new scanner gets here so guess its not to bad - i shall go into withdrawl without the net - thank jam for text messaging

*update* I'm back home, it's raining and that makes me very happy after the mad heat of new york these past few months. Flight was ok, i assume, I fell asleep before we even took off and woke 10mins before we landed. Slight panic when i checked in and they told me i could only check 2 bags and would be charged $70 for the extra bag. I had 2 medium bags with me and 3 small bags, 2 i was carrying on as they had my powerbook and some statues but the other was all dvds and i planned to either carry it on or check depending what the airline said- but seeing as all my bags combined didnt weigh as much as one of the huge bags everyone else had the let me slide and didnt charge me [which was good cus i only $10 to my name at that point] I have no scanner now so won't be uploading anything new for the next two weeks maybe a little longer as i still have to wait for all my boxes to arrive and then have to move once more. I plan to cook for my next few weeks starting tonight with a veggie lasgna!*update*

Well this is my last weekend in New York for a while and my last weekend in my current place. It really hit home this week that I'm leaving and i will admit there were a few almost weepy moments but while I'm going to miss new york alot I'm looking forward to going home and I'm already set to come back here next may.This week I've been meeting people for goodbye food or drinks and just chillin with people. i'm pushing my friends work/websites [those that have them anyway] in this journal so anywhere you see a link click it!!

I actually had a goodbye diner [curry yum] with Andrew [link] in may as he's gone to Paris for the summer and wont be back till the end of the month. I had lunch [curry again!!] last week with Roy [link] one of my fav teachers from SVA. Roy was a zombie in the orginal dawn of the dead which is enough reason to love him but he's also the nicest guy and I love just talking film with him.

Wednesday night I went for a few drinks with my friend Sakura [link] who besides being a total silkscreen god, is also leaving New York to do her masters at Yale. It was one of those unplanned nights that you didnt think much was going to happen but ended up having a great time. We went to bar that was having a promotion so got alot of free drinks, we went and did karaoke which was a howl, Joe [link] did a very energetic number i can't even remeber what the song was but i remeber him jumping around like crazy. Then curry at my second fav curry place, Milon, we were the last people there for like 30 mins just chatting and singing happy birthday to no one - Great night.

Thursday I meet my friend Max in the print lab, she's moving back to portland [and will be handling our table at [link] isnt she great!] Another fantastic printmaker who needs to finish her website so i can push her work. She gave me some of her prints and told me she was leaving saturday [ie today] and not septmeber as i was first told. Current projects in a sorta semi-order that they will be done. Most of these are my personnal projects. I have other projects I'm doing but can't be posted on DA for various reasons.

"Children of Lir" comic

-Even thou i printed up a verision of this for MoCCA, I wasn't happy with it. Alot of little nit picks but a major issue was lettering that really needs to be fixed. I brain stormed with a graphic design friend tonight whose work is very type focused and he really gave me some good ideas and direction, hopfully I'll finish this project in the next two weeks.

"Serial Reality"

-series of comic pages which have serial killers hosting reality showes. A weird idea that stuck in my head, thought it was only going to be the two Dahmer comic but I've been playing around with some other ideas.

"Untitled Travel book"

- a series of small silkscreen books of different trips I've taken. This project wasn't very focused for the longest time but I've started to at least move in the right direction, I even posted a test print.

"The Planets"

-this series of etchings really came out of nowhere and I'd like to push them somemore.

On going t-shirt project with Amber
- my friend is a costume designer but isnt that into drawing, I'm into drawing but can't sew to save my life so were playing around with some t-shirt and skirt designs. They may end looking like shit or look great who knows. This is something I couldn't focus on in New York, but we'll be sharing a silkscreen space when i get back to ireland and can really work on items.

"The Duchess of Malfi"
-a play by John Webster written around 1640. I was going through a period were everything i was reading was shit but i've read a couple of really good books in the past few weeks among them this play and it gave me some ideas. not sure what its gonna turn into but at the moment im thinking some sort of comic.
