I went to Busch Gardens many years ago, and now I get to go again!!!

Hubby and I are going to FL to visit his father for Father's Day next week. I didn't really want to go visit, but I made him promise to take me to Busch Gardens Friday. It's kinda weird being around my hubby's family (or people in general, really). I have nothing in common with them really, so I never have anything interesting to share. My life revolves around my hubby, teaching, and animals. They are so into tennis (and his wife's cheerleader daughters), and I can't even work up enough enthusiasm to feign interest. So Busch Gardens will be the only high point. I will get some pics to post.

Other news:

Angel is still pregnant. She is resuming her training and still doesn't want to pick up her right lead. She is also heavy on the forehand, and still a bit stubborn. The trainer says she would be a good horse for hunter pleasure, but I have no idea how to ride that. I never had much training when it comes to riding horses. I know how to hang on, how to fall off, and get the horse to run the pattern. I have a lot to learn if I want to show in these classes. Ugh! I wish I could have stuck with the lessons, I will look like such an idiot, an adult taking riding lessons after riding one way for nearly 20 years. This is going to be so difficult for me. If you are reading this, look forward to some really ridiculous pics of me pretty soon. (Me, in jodhpurs and a helment! LOL)

Ok, so I have been stressing about the state test my students had to take a few weeks ago. But good news, about 98% of them passed it. Yay! Summer is almost here, hehe... Can't wait!!!

Also, I am planning on going to NY and FL this summer, so I will get some good pics to post. Beaches, concerts, theme parks, water parks, exotic animals... So much fun!!!

More good news--> We had taken Angel to get bred to HG Esquire (gorgeous Arabian stallion at Willow Hill Equestrian) at the end of April/beginning of May, and we went and picked her up last week after she had been confirmed 14 days in foal. We took her yesterday to make sure she was still pregnant, and she was confirmed 30 days in foal. I am so thrilled with this news. I hope the foal takes after its mom in all ways except height. Even the breeder/trainer said the only thing keeping Angel back is her height, "nice movement, she can move just like the big horses." He also said she was very well behaved and calm. I knew she would be. Most things don't bother her much.

Anyway, hoping to get some more pics up soon, I don't ever seem to have the camera with me when I need it...

Ok, so even though the horse show didn't have a lot of people there (nothing compared to the MWHSA shows in MS), I still had fun, and Prince had fun too. Prince placed 1st in barrels and poles (against some NBHA horses), and 2nd in modified keyhole and modified flag race. Those were the only 4 classes I entered him in. I have been a little miffed at the lack of speed event shows here, and I know Prince enjoyed the opportunity to stretch his legs. He hasn't been shown competitively in several years, except the Boydton horse show, but I don't count that because even though he placed 1st, he was out of shape and running the events in a grassy baseball field. At this show, Prince was the epitome of what a speed event horse should be. He was calm and relaxed before and after each run, only getting hyped as he entered the gate at a run. He let all the kids play with him and pet him, and of course, let me sit on him however I wanted without moving away from his "safe spot." The NBHA horses that were there, however, acted a little bit more typically, spinning and rearing as they were directed to the gate, running wildly in the arena, and only calming down once their riders were off. The riders themselves seemed a little inexperienced, since they could barely get the horses to stop once they ran out of the arena. I couldn't help but chuckle to myself a little at this. I really enjoy kicking butt on my "underdog." Everyone always underestimates him because he doesn't look or act like a typical speed event horse. He is skin and bones, but he just loves to run. Anyway, I have some pics of Prince at the show to go along with this journal. They should be up as soon as I get this posted.

There is a horse show this weekend in South Boston, about 30 mins from me. I know Prince isn't in the best shape, but still, I think we will do well. Not many people up here run speed events, most of it is jumping and other English "stuff." Prince usually does well because he looks like the underdog, skin & bones, and laid back as long as no one is on him. When people first see him run, they are taken aback by his speed.

One of my mares, Angel, is in Gordonsville right now getting bred to HG Esquire, I really hope she takes. HG Esquire is a really gorgeous, fabulous Arabian. She has also been going through training. She has had 6 lessons and is learning very fast. Her trainer is very pleased. Angel is learning sidepasses, how to collect properly, going over poles, low jumps, responding to pressure, lead changes, and how to move forward. It seems like a lot to learn, but she is doing very well, and hasn't once offered to buck or rear (not that she ever has). She has only had 6 lessons and already knows more than Prince, lol. But, as my trainer said, speed event horses have their own mind, and most of them are out of it, lol. Anyway, we may be able to go pick Angel back up Sunday, if the vet clears her as taking.

As far as Avatar & Twilight go, I am still reading several fanfics, and trying to keep all the stories straight, but it is really hard to. If you are interested in Twilight fanfics, PoweredByStarlight at ff.net has 3 really good stories up. I think they rival the original, if not better. And these are updated about once a week, so not too long of a wait between chapters. I haven't looked for Twilight fics here yet, so if you know of any good ones, let me know. I just finished reading Capture of the Maiden, an Avatar fanfic, and I must say I was thoroughly delighted by the writing and plot of that fic.

I will probably not be on here too much during May, as SOL testing starts in our school next week, and doesn't end until the end of May. I don't really get too stressed about it, but the students and principals do, as well as some of the other teachers. It just gets really hard to talk to anyone about anything because most everyone is on edge. Ugh, it is really annoying! I hate standardized testing. It is really a waste of time.

I will be so happy when May is over. I will know for sure whether Angel is preggos or not, how my students did on their test, and hopefully Prince will have a few more ribbons to hang by his papers.

It has been a long time since I have added a journal entry. I guess I could say nothing extremely important has happened, at least, nothing that anyone else would think of as important. Well, I guess I should have kept this thing up to date, as well as communicated better with my friends here.

Sad News Follows...

This morning, hubby went to take dogs out for their morning bathroom break as he always does. One of our dogs, Manhattan, who is always very happy and hoppy ran across the street to smell the neighbor's snowman. As she was headed back, a small red pickup that was speeding down the road hit her. We drove her to the vet as quickly as possible, but she didn't make it. Hubby is real upset, and is crying and swearing vengeance on the driver of that truck. He saw the whole thing happen. I was still in bed, half-asleep. My parents are outside now digging a hole to bury her in. I am really upset and crying myself. I know we should have had her on a leash. I know I should have been out there to help. I shouldn't have been so lazy. There is nothing I can do about it now, she is gone.

Ok, so the horse show wasn't what I expected. It was quite small, with really only the girls from the local 4-H club showing in the western classes and hunter jumper. When it came time for the adult barrels and poles, I didn't have much competition. The entry fee was $15 for each of those classes, but the payout was $25 for 1st, $20 for second, and $15 for third. I got 1st in each of my classes, so I was happy with that. I just wish there had been more competition. I like to feel I earned my ribbons. Oh well. My hubby took some pics of the show. If any of them came out nice, I might post them. 2 Blue ribbons and $50 bucks, not a bad weekend.

Oh yeah, I am really looking forward to Avatar this week. I have really enjoyed reading the stories and looking at the pics.

Lakefest is this week too. I can't wait. It is supposed to be this really huge event that draws tens of thousands of people to our town. I will take some pics of that as well. I hope the weather cooperates.

Wow, I haven't been here in a while... I have been kinda psyched & suffering from AWS, so to keep my sanity I have just been playing Sims 2 the past few weeks. Anyway, I have good photos of my pets I was thinking about putting up, and scrapping some of the older ones. I have a few drawing as well, but they are nothing compared to what I have seen on here. Monday starts Avatar week, so my AWS is going away and I am actually cheering. I am so happy that July is finally here.

Ok, so I finally finished uploading my pics. Comment away on them, I am interested in what y'all think. I personally like the pic of Luna & Bugsy, Luna looks so goofy there, lol. But she lays like that all the time. And she plays with everything and everyone. She has all kind of toys, and she plays with the cats and the other dogs. She also enjoys destuffing things that are stuffed. We come home to a living room full of white and black fluff. She is constantly taking the stuffing out of her toys and her bed. We punish her a little, but she is just so cute walking up to us with stuffing hangin from her lips, lol.

Ok, enough about her. So tomorrow I have a horse show. I will try to take some pictures while I am there, maybe I will get some good ones (hopefully it won't rain). I am going to be riding in Barrels & Poles on Prince (Dothan's Boy).

Next week is Avatar week, we all know that. But it is also Lake Fest week for my town. Lake Fest is next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It is huge. I have never been before, but I have seen pictures. They have hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides, vendors, music, boats, and fireworks. I will try to get some pics of that as well.

Well, I think that is all for now. Y'all have a good weekend. I will update again tomorrow after the horse show.

I want to continue watching it over and over, but I know that I need to pace myself. The next one isn't coming out until July. I have decided to watch all of Season 3 one episode at a time, one day at a time. By the time I am finished, more news and spoilers will probably be going around. I just wish they would air Avatar period. I would love to see reruns of Season 3 on Nick, but no, they have only shown 1 episode of Season 3 since December. I have all together stopped watching Nickelodeon. The only shows I follow habitually are Avatar and Moonlight. All the other shows I liked have been cancelled.

Anyway, thanks to all you fanfiction writers out there, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into posting your stories about the gAang.
I have had a sore throat for about a week. I can't stand having allergies sometimes. I started taking some Zyrtec, and it seems to be working a little more every day.

Anyway, Avatar won't be on TV for a while. :*( Oh well. I went ahead and ordered my DVD volume 3 from Buy.com and am also going to purchase a few from Walmart to give away to my students.

So anyway, our principal is now having the teachers float to the classes instead of the students moving. I do not like it very much. I had my room the way I needed it to be, with students where they needed to be, and now... aargh! I will make it work somehow. I still gotta figure this out. Well, I have a job interview with another school Tuesday afternoon, I really hope it goes well. I really can't wait for school to end. I have been extremely disappointed with how things are handled in this district.

I have so much energy right now, I don't know what to do with it. I want to paint, draw, write, excercise, clean, something, anything but sit on this couch. I can't go outside yet, with these allergies, but I want to do so much. I can't wait to ride my horses again, even though they need a bath first, lol. Maybe I can bathe them this weekend and get some more pics for my gallery, that is, if the weather cooperates.
...without Avatar. Nickelodeon had put July 14 on their site as the next airdate for the new epis, but now it is gone. Maybe we will get them sooner (I hope). I am still a little aggitated about not being able to see season 3 repeats on Nick, but I am lucky I recorded most of them on my DirectTV box. I wish they would re-air "The Runaway" as that seems to be the only one I don't have. I know there are websites where I can view them, but I would just rather watch it on TV. I got so bored today at school, I started writing my own fanfic, lol. Talk about horrible. I have like almost no imagination, so it's going to be painful to read in the end. I think I will keep it to myself. There are so many better ones out there to read, thanks to my favorite people on DA and FF. I wish this school year would end already. I wrote up 9 kids today, a record for me. I hate writing students up and it didn't help that my voice was gone. I just wish that they would stop talking and being disrespectful. I had 3 students that were writing nasty notes back and forth, 2 disrespectful students, 1 student that thought it was ok to chase another student around the class, 2 students that started fighting in the hallway as they were walking to the library, and 1 student that just cannot shut their mouth. I mean, when did it become so "cool" or funny to be disrespectful to adults that are only trying to help you. My parents used to say this is "biting the hand that feeds you." I just don't get it. I guess I just wasn't raised the same as these children. My parents expected me to exercise self-control. Aargh!! Alright, that is enough of that. I'll go back to reading everyone's fanfics and just forget about my problems for now. TTYL

With all the fanfics I have read over the past several months, I have been able to keep my AWS at bay. Thank you to all those creative writers out there who have taken time to post Avatar fanfics, I don't know how I could remain sane without you. Anyway, school seems like it is a bust. I just got my students started on Science Fair projects(due May 1, by the way), and now they tell me I won't be teaching Science again until the SOL's are out of the way. They have me teaching Reading, and for two hours per class. I still don't know who's class is going where, but I guess we will find out Monday. I don't really think this is going to work very well, but I will try.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. We got another dog, well actually a puppy. She is in 2 of the pics I have in my gallery. Maybe I should just teabag Nick. I don't know what will work, but I miss my beloved Avatar.

Ok, moving on. I am going to be uploading some pics that I took at my local SPCA. Two dogs and two cats that I am thinking about adding to my crew. Take a look at their pics and tell me what you think.

CYa on the flip side, lol.

Happy Easter everyone! Let's take this time to remember what we are celebrating (the resurrection of Jesus and the binding of the devil)

Ok, now on with the journal...
My Spring Break began Thursday at 1:00 pm and so far, it is going great. I am having a lot of fun. Hubby and I got our fishing licenses and have gone fishing every day at Buggs Island Lake (only about a mile from my house). We haven't caught anything yet, but it is just nice to be outside listening to nature all around me. The sun feels great, nice and warm. I am really enjoying this time off. My parents came up for a few days and brought my other two pekes with them. I will have to get pictures to show y'all. They are gorgeous pekes. Oh well, I better get going, gotta go back to my fishing hole, maybe today I will catch something... : )

We start Spring Break this Thursday at 1:00, and I am really looking forward to it. So many days off, just me, hubby, and all the pets. I have dogs, cats, and horses. I hope we have some good weather, I need a few days outside. My AWS is strongest when I am stuck indoors. I heard rumors that The Western Air Temple might air April 4, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. I have decided not to let my principal or the students take up my mind. I am going to relax, and enjoy the rest of the school year.

So my day with my students was ok today. Apparently, some of my problem children ended up getting suspended or in-school suspended before they got to me today, so I had a pretty good day. My day was going pretty good until the pricipal called me into his office "to talk." Apparently he doesn't think I am doing a good enough job, so he is thinking about not letting me teach there next year. Apparently, teachers who follow the rules are not good, but teachers that yell at students, embarrass and belittle them, say offensive things towards them, and shove them out of class regularly are the good teachers. I say he just has a personality conflict with me and doesn't like me. I know he saw me at a job fair last Saturday, so I am thinking that had something to do with it. This principal has no clue how to run a school. Students only get disciplined for fighting or cursing(and only occasionally for that). Nothing happens when a child yells at a teacher, makes fun of other students, or walks out of class. I have done what I am supposed to do, and disrespectful behavior is not supposed to be tolerated in any form. But nothing happens to the children. The principal warns them and sends them back to class. The kids would rather go to the principal's office than be sent to another teacher's classroom to finish their work. I reffered one student to the office 5 times last week (I had already met with his mother twice) and the principal never did anything. I know things will work themselves out eventually. All I can hope for is that another district will hire me.

I honestly do not understand the process of thought that some children have. Some children are honest, respectful, and wonderful learners. Other children are dishonest, disrespectful, and in general hate learning. Since when has it been ok for a child to talk to an adult just anyway but the adult always has to be softspoken and show respect even if the child doesn't. I just don't understand. It's like some children have forgotten their place and it affects others... Oh well, I guess I will get over it eventually.
