Still recovering with bread and porridge and mind you that isn't very inviting either.

Helvetica the Screening got 60+ people to come at a small lovely cafe downtown at Bkt Bintang. Met alot of new lovely people doing different things, good to see local designers gathering together for small events like that. Other than that I've spent much time in bed reading and doodling recovering from this week long of sickness, but seems this coming weekend is bustling with events already.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Cheers

Its an exciting time for Malaysians, the political-landscape of Malaysia has changed with the elections. Electricity fills the streets and air as people went to help and vote for change. Exciting times, exciting times indeed!

I went for my first ceramah and watched Anwar speak in the rain at Lembuh Pantai, 30,000 filled the streets and muddy grounds, with the highways jammed packed like sardines and people leaving their cars on the road. Electricity really was in the air and it was mesmerizing to watch him talk, charismatic and profound, switching from reformasi mode to cracking humour.

On to other news, I'm helping co-organize some local design events. We'll be screening a Helvetica - the Documentary Film on 21st March at 8pm in KL. Had a glance at the trailer and read some reviews, looks very promising indeed, hoping to see alot of new faces there. Created the e-flyer for the event.

Other than that, been pretty busy with personal works, going to collab, exhibit and sell works with fellow friend [link] whos an amazing illustrator.
Terrible week, but picking up slowly. Had an awful abundance of food poisoning last week, causing me to miss work for 2 days and work piled up everest high. Went to a film screening locally last week and a design/art exhibition at Annexe on the weekend. Both were rather disappointing, events seem to be getting rather mundanely boring. The work seemingly lacks abit of depth, and I don't just mean conceptual depth, but sort of an essence in encapturing something whether humour, juxtaposition, etc.

Office is buzzing with stuff right now, we've just got a spanking new PC with amazing technical enhancements that would make ironman look cheap.. (no not really..) Been watching Entourage 4th Season the past few late nights, always leaves me laughing like a hyena. It's lost a bit of its momentum and steam, but still somewhat brilliantly funny.

So I've been a tad bit lazy on personal work, so I sort of reworked an old typo experiment called 'yellow', actually for a client then become something else.. soon to be inspired for yellow submarine.

Hey all,

Rather after some quick decision making, I've decided to re-use this account again. I joined DA back in late 05 and I've come to realize I've lost a sense of connection with a lot of nice people through DA, and I would like to rekindle that again. Been doing a crumby job of updating on even the other account so I decided just to stick to this one.

Anyway on to more exciting news I've been burying my head in work the last few months but I've been having tonnes of fun. A quick recap.

In December, I dropped down to Singapore for the Singapore design festival for 3 days. Stayed at Bugis Street and rather had tonnes of fun discovering a lot of best kept secrets from small knick knack shops at haji lane (a beautiful long street full of old colonial houses selling a majority of local designers stuff) to musuems and having awesome coffee as well as parading all around town. Christmas back then mind you, streets were packed with full of people and obviously dozens of friendly girls *grins.

Spent new year's at a friend's place having a movie marathon, and needless to say I entered the new year in a low note. Lets just say "not getting pissed drunk and embarassing myself" is on my new year's resolution. But been behaving since then.

Recently though I finished a book I've been working on for a locally acclaimed writer/filmaker and went for the book launch on Saturday. Will be posting pictures of it soon, it looks lovely! Proudest work to date, and its already hit kinokunya (with a nice big poster on the wall) and borders soon. I'm still grinning ear to ear, someone pinch me hard.

Right now just working on more books, corporate work and some secret stuff. But will be joining an exhibition in march and selling a few new works. Will be going to some film screening tomorrow at a college, hopefully see some interesting local work.

Going to bed now!

Cheers.

Hellooooooooooooooooo,

Anyway ultra awesome news, I've finally graduated. I'm like about 10 hrs 45 minutes and 30 secs from starting my new job as a graphic designer and I'm so excited and psyched. Got to say the company I found is pretty decent and paying pretty decently as well, eventhough its pretty far but I like train rides so I don't mind. Its like the first day of school happening all over again, new environment, new friends, and new experiences, getting butterflies. I really jope to learn alot at this new place and I hope I can bring something refreshing and new to the table.

Other news, I've decided I'll be starting up defunk again. I think its important to keep it going and a good long break was what all of us needed. Sometimes we just spread ourselves out too thin on too many things and lose focus on certain things we are doing. Back to keep on track baby.

Bought a few books recently one thats called Basic Designers Format and another called Designers are Wankers. Both awesome books especially the wankers book. I recommend the book to anyone who just graduated in design and are slightly unsure of where they are heading and what they wanna go. A good read.

Last but not least I apologise for my dead boring and negative last post. I realise I was just being a moody cunt and will refrain from spreading my negativity in further posts to come.

Adios,

A farewell perhaps and plagarism?

Hey people,

It approximately one week from my final graduation. I guess I'm going through a phase of reminiscing of all the college drama that's happened the last 4 years. I've got to say some of it those years were the best and worst of my life. I'm just happy to be finished and out.

I've also been thinking about people plagarizing alot lately, as this past month I've had my work plagarized a few times already. Some works that were plagarized were even put in a magazine and was shown on TV, whilst another was copied and used by a friend. Its just really sad and dissapointing this is happening more and more, as I take it quite personally. Plagarism and copying other people's design is happening more and more nowadays and I feel its a disgusting problem we need to solve. I've attended graduations from local design schools such as oneacademy, limkokwing and a few others and I've found so many graduates blantantly ripping off other peoples work. Needless to say if I ever find you copy anyone else's work including mine, I'll fuck you up real good and embarass you. Theres no need for decency for people that plagarize as they dont respect the time and effort we put behind the works we produce.

Through all this plagarizing bullshit, if it gets worst I'll be taking all of my stuff of DA for good. It's sad that we have these idiots running around that use our works and spoil it for all of us.

Anyway on a lighter note, I'll be entering two local contests - one is a design for t-shirts for musicians and another will be a skin design for laptops. Hopefully I'll win as I need a new laptop so badly.

Also I've already got jobs before I graduate and some very exciting ones that have to do with retail and even a music video. So all is not bad news for me as I am progressing and after 2 1/2 years of freelancing the work is finally paying off.

My personal website will be up soon in a month or 2 as well. Just been busy. Hope your all doing good and keep those fingers clicking.

Cheers,

It's the last three weeks of school and I guess I'm sort of caving in a little (been a little sick and stressed out), after all its my final semester in art school. I've stopped freelancing for a while as its taken a toll on my school work, but the jobs are still pounding on my door (or should I say my phone). Had to put my own fashion label on hold as well, got alot of business plans to fulfil and I'm just excited to start them as soon as I finish my final semester.

I've got to say I'm excited to graduate and start working. Eventhough I got some offers, I'm going to apply to some local magazine/publication companies and see how it goes. Just to keep options open and all.

From my observation, there seem's to be more and more competitions and I'm just fucking ecstatic to join as I feel I've gotten a chance to actually win. Too bad I kinda was too busy for the tiger translate thing this month, was just busy.

Going to Kanye West's concert this Sunday yo, will be fucking rad and I'll take pictures and upload it on my flickr account soon.

Hope you'all are doing awesome yea.
I've been super busy in work and school as I'm preparing for graduation show and just alot of personal stuff has been flying around. I have to admit its been a pretty shitty beginning of the year for me and I hope to change that aroundwith me graduating soon by May I'm already scoping out the local companies to see where I would fit in best.

#OTHER NEWS
In Malaysia (country where I am), its 'VISIT MALAYSIA' year. So alot is happening, and it means i should be planning for some stuff to happen.

Met Joshua Davis at a design conference earlier this year and I have to say hes totally awesome. Not only is he spontaneous, intelligent and delirious (had everyone laughing so much at the conference), the stuff he said was truly inspirational and has left me pondering on alot of stuff I wanna do in the future. Got his autograph by the way! Selling it on EBAY for millions.. muahaha.
