I know it's been months, really... months since I've actually posted some of my own artwork done out of personal pleasure. It's probably been over a year since I've actually put up a finished piece of digital artwork that I would call -- on my standards -- finished and worth looking at. I have not paid attention to the dozens of DeviantART's renovations of gallery structure or the new rules inforced upon us all (except the one on the model permission slips, I had a few choice words to say about that one). However, while my activity on DeviantART has waned, my artistic ability, hopefully, has not.

Well, of course it hasn't, I've been taking so many damn art classes in college that I really can't let it go to crap. My interests have also wandered to Ragnarok Online and lots of political mumbo-jumbo. But alas, I really haven't proved it to all of you, have I?

I have originally made another account called "scrib-n-screw" that I have put nothing on. it's utterly empty. Nothing. Zilch. That's because I made it before they had put in the scrap deviation function. Now that they have that, I feel much more comfortable about uploading the scribbles I do in Painter and openCanvas.

I've gone about and updated as much about myself as possible on the main pages and I've gutted out my Deviantwatch because I can't handle 230 new pictures, journal entries, and clubs all at once. I am going to leave the Sonic club because I can't handle 6 journal entries a week about just how many members they have. I think that they can make do with one less more. Sonic really hasn't tickled my fancy lately anyhow (which is ironic, cause I'm a featured artist on TeamARTAIL and used to work for a popular Sonic fansite six years ago).

So I'm sorry if I haven't replied to your comments, your notes, your favorites, or your desperate pleas for my return (haw). I have Jade pictures somewhere, I swear. I still remember who Chandler Sharrpingtooth, Justin Paine, Trina Lightfoot, and Ludwing are. Harry Potter is still very near and dear to me. You'll just have to put up with five times more Ragnarok Online than you've been previously used to from me.

Who knows, if I get back into the habit of posting here, I just might get a subscription as some sort of wierd apology to DA for abandoning it for so long. God help me.

And that's the scoop. Have fun kids.

Because everyone has SO much to say on it...

I really don't think some people really understand WHY these rules are being put in place... the main one, obviously, is for the really strict laws on Child Pornography (which means that nude pictures of people under the age of 18 is well... illegal). And if some FBI agent scrambles across DeviantART and finds a picture that looks like a nude underage individual on this site, DeviantART could be immediately and permanently taken down without prior warning and most certainly without our consent.

Also, if a model had agreed with an artist to pose for pictures for the private use of the artist (either in an artist's studio or for just a school) but later found out that her images were put up online, he/she has extremely good grounds to sue the artist and DeviantART, thus resulting in HUGE fines, and once again the possible shutdown of DeviantART.

What it all comes down to it, it's about censorship or DA MAN IS THRZHING MI CRATEIVETTTIII OMGGG , it's about the laws of the country where the servers are located which were allready in place (for which we really can't do much about) and the privacy and prior agreements that have taken place among private citizens. Complain about YOUR rights getting violated all you want, but don't forget that while we may go in the persuit of happiness, we are not entitled to enfringe on the privacy or the freedoms of other individuals, whether they be models or... 16-year-old models.

And that's my piece.
A more rational perspective on the DTF anime/anthro issue, after I've learned to breathe a bit better.

Oh, does anyone want to know why I did a bit of a 180 on the issue? I've experienced an incredible thing called looking and realizing the other side's argument. It's an amazing thing, really. Unfortunately, only people with brains can comprehend and execute this concept. What i've learned from " this is art bias" but really, it's "this is something we have to do to temporarily prevent system abuse while we fix the system." This is like disabling thumbnails tempoararily because the thumbnail server is funky. Of COURSE this isn't permanent, and it's not a result of systematic discrimination or "racial profiling" as some morons have come to call it in their hysterics of clamoring for " PRO-ANIME" and "PRO-FURRY", which is rediculous.

Needless to say, it's the idiocy of the majority of people that are against the Anthro/Anime DTF ban that made me see the light. Gah.

Now goodbye. I'm going to work on an angry, Anti movie-piracy speech. I think I've had my practice, and now to do the real thing....

Further Edit
I would appreciate it if people did not preach at me about the signifigance of the Anthropomorphic Culture, for the following reasons.

1) I am an Anthro artist.
2) I've written several papers defending the integrity of the Furry Fandom, one that is very recent and argues against the article that appeared in the March 2001 issue of Vanity Fair
3) I'm featured on TeamArtail. Not that it holds the same signifigance as it did back in 1998, but it's true, and I'm proud of it.

The reason I'm siding with the administration is because I have realized what they are doing is HELPING ALL COMMUNITIES HERE AT DEVIANTART by fixing a system that dosen't fit to their standards and original vision. So excuse me.

~abyschan: is is now a toilet.
~abyschan: the shit has lept from the toilet
~abyschan: it is diving towards the fan.
~abyschan: it will hit
~redrockwildcat: jane's post?
~abyschan: and it will go EVERYWHERE
~abyschan: Well, more like Jark's post.
~redrockwildcat: what gets to me is...
~abyschan: He has, basicially, announced that furry/anime artists are banned from faving art and furry/anime art in general.
~redrockwildcat: they wonder why the a system where people CHOOSE to fav something is flawed
~abyschan: I see nothing wrong with it.
~abyschan: People have a favorite picture, they fav it, and thus, a picture with more favorites gets on the daily top favorites.
~abyschan: it's just that anthro/anime fans OUTNUMBER all of the other 'fans'
~abyschan: and thus, we have 30-year-old photographers and graphic designers getting mad at a bunch of 14-year-olds on a website.
~abyschan: Now tell me, who is more mature?
~abyschan: or better stated, who is not acting their age?
~redrockwildcat: agreed

And that is my opinion on the whole issue, right there. And I'll re-summarize my points for those who can't read AIM conversations (haw).

Point One: Jark's announcement is going to stir up trouble whether he likes it or not. Yes, he'll be undoubtedly be amused by all of the activity and laugh and point like God on crack cocaine and a shotgun with a guided lazer scope propped up against his porch chair and pick off the infidels that annoy him most with ease, because by golly, angry anthro/anime fans are going to head towards jarks proverbial 'porch' like mosquitoes towards a cold, blue light.

Point Two: I see the bigger issue as to what Jark is bringing up, but it has its own little dark underbelly (ie, the silver cloud has a gray lining). Issue being, let's prevent the 5,000 (rough guess) high-school aged kids because we can't hold them responsible to use a website correctly, because they every single kind of picture that holds to a certain style/artist they worship and obsess over, and thus artwork that more professional and older members of the website get upset because their high-rated artwork gets shunted off to the side and they can't get their ego fix by getting their artwork displayed on the main page. Henceforth, all of these 25-30 year-old artists are stomping and screaming for change to be made. "Get rid of that filth! We hate anthropomorphic art, it's all pornography because they don't wear clothes and we don't get it that anyone would be so obsessed over such weird Loony Toon crap!" "Down with anime! It's a jacked up style of drawing human form, everything's out of proportion, and too overdone and it's EVERYWHERE!!" Now, if you ask me.... well, those are photographers, graphic designers, 3D modelers everywhere, from all ages. Yet, their complains make them sound like the whiney, 14-year-old anime/anthro fans that they abhor so much. "We are so RIGHTEOUS!! We'll destroy ALL of the anime on this site! Little furry squirrel porn will be AFLAME with our wrath!" Indeed, there is no longer anyone over the age of 18 in this argument.

And here's one more point that I'll just bring up for kicks, that absolutely no one really notices. I never look at, or take seriously, any artwork that's on the DTFs. Seriously. One main reason is, that yes, it's polluted with the extremely popular junk that 30 of those aforementioned 14-year-olds like to favorite, because... well, it's their favorite. But the kicker is, is that RARELY do such pictures stand the test of internet time. You want to see your Top Favorites? Go into the all deviation gallery and sort by favorites. You'll get hundreds of pictures with favorites up...

Whine whine whine whine whine!! I do have a bit of good news, though. My triops are doing well! Corky, Roark, and Ackbar are nice and big.
Aside from my very weak attempts to prevent myself from going around and harassing assholes here on DA, I've been harassing the Bursar's office here at ol' SMSU to give me my paycheck. Apparently, they like to withhold MY money because my PARENTS don't like paying their BILLS which were due over THREE WEEKS AGO.

Oh, and there's something gooey all over this water bottle. Goddamnit. *throws it away*

I wish I could have easier access to a scanner, but aside from that, I hardly get to draw anymore due to all my classes. I tried back at fall break, but no happening's. Hell, I couldn't even get around to doing a picture for ~ booker's birthday (but I did buy her any choice of TNbC merchandise: earmuffs).

I bought some Triops as a little pet for my dormroom. Hopefully they won't die because there's 10,001 things you can do wrong to kill/torture them. And the eggs are tiny.
Have a nice day.

I've been spending loads of time doing schoolwork and other things like that, but mostly I've been hanging out with loads of friends like ~hdr and ~booker and many others who aren't on DA (obviously) but happen to know other deviants (friend of a friend!) like ~ mado which is freaking cool.

Anyways, I'm sorry about the lack of art lately. I'm removed from a scanner and I've been aching for some real honest-to-god drawing time to just sit down and INK a picture and COLOR it in, even if it's with my tablet or whatever. I don't even have proper time to do tablet doodles, which is sad becase I just got my new Wacom 6x8 a month ago and I can't try out all my new programs like Photoshop or Painter properly. Actually, I did a crappy doodle of Rouge the bat the other day, but it's awful and I'm sure no one wants to see it.

*cough*

One thing I have been doing is listening ot a lot of music. I've been able to get a hold of a lot of music lately... and I can't wait to cash my first new paycheck (I got a new job) and go buy some new CDs. Others, I can wait till Christmas to get. But aside from that, I'm just happy to have a job again. Working is good... it's far from friends and classes, as some sort of middle ground and it's just a nice place to be. And my co-workers aren't out to kill me yet, which is always good.

I might be in a movie some of my friends are making. I wonder if I can help ~booker with conceptual art later on.... that'd be fun.

I've realized that in Deviantart's latest release of DAv3, they've done several things. Those things are that they've removed the "text that appears before and after journal entry" feature, and they have axed devpacks. Anyone else realize that this severely puts a cramp in the style of MANY clubs? I think they purposely took away those features in order to cull away at the numble of clubs here on DA. And I mean... why not? Many clubs end up being clones of each other, (ie: Twelve clubs dedicated to Sonic? Please!) and there's still quite a few that break the rules by faving any piece of artwork that the clubmaster/mistress deems related to the catigory (but mostly of members of the club). The changes should help out a lot, at least.

I've watched Excel Saga, hack//sign, and FLCL, finally. They're all very good, but Excel Saga has to be my favorite just for the sheer randomness of it. I might get back into doing Anime fanart someday, but I really don't like venturing out of my own drawing style. Doing Anime fanart is just... hard. Cause you end up striving for the anime look, but it detracts from your own personal touch and it ends up looking so wrong.

Well, I suppose I"ll just draw it all in my own style then, if I'm so concerned. Ny'er.
Hahahaa. Anyways, I really like this new deviantART deal. I have my setting on the "Minimum" look, which is very badass looking. Makes everything load faster too, IMO. I guess I'll have to re-do my Pachtyr/Satyr list later. But I'll show off my clubs at the end, don't you worry at all. So.. um...

I got a new, shiny Wacom Platinum 6x8 Intuos2 tablet. All the accessories are platinum, too. I got it on the 14th. Good stuff, there. Perhaps with this aquirement I shall be producing art more prolificly, as I have regained the use of using openCanvas on my computer. I also have an old KB Gear Pablo Tablet (6x8, not XP/ME compatible) for sale. Price is negotiable, but it WILL be far less than $70. Deal there, folks. Note me if you're interested.

Since the launch of DA, I had a short stint on the DA forums. But after a bit of a disasterous occurance on the 14th (which did happen to have something to do with the blackout in NYC, believe it or not) I won't return there as a 70-posts-every-four-days person I was. It was magical while it lasted. Sorta.

The end.

Hello deviants!

Happy ID-4, yo.

It's time to update my dinky DA journal again. Well, let's see if I can think of anything to talk about...

Well, I've signed up for my college classes, I've had to uninstall Kazaa cause of my slight paranoia of getting sued (bah), and I got a new e-mail address, but I'll be damned if I tell that here on this page (hah, sorry). I'm also in the middle of writing a possibly controversial Harry Potter fanfic, which I might put up here on DA as well, but.... we shall see. There are a lot of assholes that like to fly around and say that any bit of fanart/fanfic is a severe copywright violation, so I'll have my second thoughts.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was a great book. Not the best one EVER, but it's a great book. The end made me cry. Much like the third and fourth one. Well, I cried more than the third one, because that was just a dream getting absolutely OBLITERATED. [/vague spoiler].

Don't worry people. I'll put up finished pieces of art soon enough. Okay?

Yes red, I still remember the piece of art I owe you.

Happy birthday to Adam in advance. Dork.

Hello deviants!

Hey there everyone. Monthly journal update is now. Since it's 3:30 in the morning where I am, you must take in a large spelling curve for this post. XP

I've graduated from SCHS now, with my shiny diploma, shiny class rank of 9, shiny National Honor Society and International Thespian Society cords, shiny new HP Laptop Computer with a Pentium 4 Processor, 50GB Hard Drive... lots of memory, KILLER visual/audio perps/accessories, CDR/DVD-ROM (I've been watching a lot of Cowboy Bebop and Harry Potter in my bed late at night. ) and other goodies I've yet to discover. And it's only been two weeks!

Anyways, I've finally beat Golden Sun (part one), and with a lot of the graduation money I've been getting, I'm sure I'll get the second part soon. I haven't gotten around to doing that Golden Sun fanart I've promised, but I will. I also owe ~redrockwildcat one picture for her birthday, AND for being hit No. 3,000.

I would also like to state at this time that making up stuff to try to 'backstab' someone, something, or some organization is funny. Especially when said so-called backstabbers are obviously and painfully wrong. Just thought you all would like to know that.

I also hope you all like my new deviantID (now with special stupidsuper paler than it should colors!) and deviant icon. Things with substance should be making appearances soon.

Now, enough with my inane tangents of thought. Y'all have a nice day, y'hear?

Hello deviants!

A journal (fr: daily) entry to mostly prove that I still update this thing. Every month. So you'll forgive me if this has very little point.

So, I'm going to try to make myself finish a nice, pretty and well-drawn picture for once sometime this weekend. Because I simply must, and prove that I don't just dabble around in oC or whatnot all the time. Or I can at least do a picture about Subterrania again. Didn't I say I was gonna do something explaining/illustrating the Omniscient Dynasty?

I'm almost done with Phantasy Star 1, I'm mid-way through playing Zelda: LttP AND I've almost got Golden Sun conquered. When I do, I'm gonna buy the new Golden Sun game.

I graduate from High School on May 18th. Huzzah.

Anyone want to buy a comission? For the rare person who does, post a comment on this journal entry.

Hello deviants!

Well, thanks to all for the 2,000 hits on my gallery. And thanks to those who gave me nice gifts and wishes on my 18th birthday (March 25). I had a great time, and I got a GBA SP... and $110 which with I got a couple of new games for it. So none of you be surprised when I start uploading some Zelda: LttP or Phantasy Star fanart someday. Oh, um, I can buy pr0n now... but more importantly, I can officially participate in the game trade-in thing at Gamestop. Yay. XP

Well, while I'm still ticked off about the whole policy violation thing, I'm glad that I technicly 'start over' with this whole new system, but mind you... all of you... it's three strikes. Boy, that means that Joey would've been screwed in this new system. @@; But that's okay, because HIS tally should start over, too...

My watercolor classes got cancelled again, so I won't get to do any new stuff with watercolor for a while... just drabbles I'll do occasionally. I should get a stack of books and paint them for heaven's sake! That would be... well, I'd at least watercolor something. I'm still proud of my bananas, though. Nothing will beat my bananas.

Well, yeah, I don't know what else to ramble about. Except Adam's a smelly poo-poo head. :rotfl:
Have a nice day.

PS: Anyone noticing my policy violation up there, given in Early March... well, that was a comment I posted when I was only on DA for about a month, back in early JANUARY. Lord, if DA's gonna be a hardass about policies, they could be a bit more timely about it. 9__9

Hello deviants!

Today, I see that hardly anyone outside the Catholic religion knows shy Easter exists, or why such a big deal is made from Mardi Gras... or the coincidence the two days are exactly 40 days apart. It's suprising to me. So I'm gonna lay it down quick as for everyone's history lesson.

Mardi Gras is french for "Fat Tuesday," and France is a predominantly Catholic country (80%, last I heard). Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of a long period of fasting, (can't eat during light hours) abstinance (can't eat meat) and lots of moping about sins and such. Ash Wednesday gets it's name because on that day, you get a cross of ash drawn on your forehead, and you wear it for most of the day. Fourty days -- beginning on Ash Wednesday, a period called Lent -- is spent doing the above three things: Prayer, Fasting, and Abstinance. So, then, you can imagine that Fat Tuesday (the day before all that stuff starts) is spent just reveling in sex, alcohol, and food.

Easter is just as festive, but 10 times cleaner. Because, darnit, that's the day Jesus H. Christ came back from the dead, spent 40 MORE days just going about creeping people out with his body wounds, then ascended back into heaven (leaving a lot of confused people behind that started to spread the word... leading to a lot of scared, confused people today wondering when he'll return to wage the apocalypse).

So think as Mardi Gras as "BINGE". The next fourty days are "PURGE". Binge. Purge. Binge. Purge.

The end. [note: part of this is sorta satirical/cynical, so don't lay an egg about it.]
Have a nice day.

Well, uh... I would like to point out a hilarious entertaining DBZ parody comic called ButtLord... and this series here [link] called BLGT. A screenshot of "King Pie" is the suppliment for my new icon, and you will now have to put up with staring at it's mighty BLEAH!ing glory. I hope you will find a great comfort in reading it's well-done story and dialouge. This is EXACTLY where my sense of humor lies. I mean, every single page made me laugh out loud.

Hello deviants!

Huh.... I'm exhausted. I've been working on one picture for about two weeks now, since after that one picture that I did of Harry Potter all done up in 'muggle attire,' and the like... I really do like that picture, not because that it's of nice subject matter, but because it actually has a background. A TANGEABLE background. But enough about art.

I do wish people would stop harassing and crying at other people because they don't like something that they do. It's very childish to assume that everyone will automaticly pick up your tastes in everything you like and have planet earth and it's billions of citizens revolve around your whims. Of course, sometimes the people who go about and try to discourage you plebes that cause this irritation may go about it in ways normally considered uncouth, but they're still right. And you whiny little brats should shut up a minute and listen instead of causing a nasty disburbance on their mainpage and push off all of their hard-earned compliments from view.

Oddly enough, that seems to just confirm your selfish immaturity. By your own doing. Congratulations.

And to the rest of you...Have a nice day.

Hello deviants!

I find it interesting that people would actually go out of their way and find ways to just make other people miserable. From many of the psychology texts that I've read in preperation for my psych course this upcomming semester, and in the past when I had to study the psychological background of mythical vampires, I find that this is normally a habit that comes from sociopathic-type folks, and would probably later on go on to become crooks of all shapes and forms, usually starting off with stalking and harasment. They, of course, become 'mentally addicted' to this behavior, and will eventually end up in jail before they turn 30.

Please note I am not talking about anyone here on DA.

This has been a very good day. It has also been a very bad day. One worth noting, and mentioning even HERE. So like....
There's still snow on the ground, miraculously, and it's just still as white as ever. I hope it snows again sometime, though, just to add to it all. That'd be nice.

I've finally gotten over several bouts of illness, thank GOD. I had a COLD, an INFECTION, then FOOD POISONING all in a row... I'm just slowly getting off of the last stages of the cold, but I'm much better. a LOT better.

Aah. Everyone should be greatful for being able to breathe through their nose. it's amazing how much you can miss doing that when you're sick.
