The last seven years I've been going about Adela the wrong way. I've been trying to tell her story from her point of view.
What a *stupid* way to go about it.
Admittedly, some parts went very well, and at some point the story will have to (I think) go to her point of view. But while she's still at Cadhadran?
Huzzah, the answer came to me today!
I started talking out loud and the words were flowing and I was like, "this is strange, but okay, I can work with it," but when I realized Adela was being spoken about in third person, I also realized something else:
Let Neven and the Faerie Queen (who has yet to be named, btw. Suggestions are welcomed, though not guaranteed to be used) tell the story of Adela's youth! Which is basically the whole point up to the climax anyway.
Ahem. The point is, now I have something to work with that doesn't feel stunted. Knowing too much when she shouldn't, because even Adela isn't omniscient. Close, but not quite.

The last few weeks have been crazy work wise. This week will be not so much because of how much I got done this weekend. Now, here's that catch: I just finished drawings, didn't start anything. Thus, until I have absolutely nothing that needs to get done immediately (which may not be until mid-October) no new drawings are going to be started. I don't even know what I'd draw...suggestions welcome...
I have some opportunity to take new photographs, but mostly I'll be pulling from my old collections.
The next deviation will be uploaded on Thursday.

I also have works to post from my sketchbook as well as WIPs AND literature. Lotsa lotsa stuff to fill the weeks with posting goodiness . I think (heavy emphasis) that I'm going to post something every week until I run out of awesomeness. And then I'll just take another hiatus to do more. Of course, it must be said, I go back to the lesson plan in August and thus will--probably--be unavailable to do anything particularly extravagant (not that I do that anyway) or maintainable. That being said, I hope to be taking a drawing class, so maybe, -maybe-, there will be new updates . I'll keep some photos in reserve so that I can at least give *something*.

Ireland was fantastic , the weather was actually fairly good, though much colder than a normal summer this time of year. But let me tell you, the sun doesn't set until ~22:00 which was WEIRD. And annoying to get to sleep. Amazing amazing scenery and landscape, great people, good pictures. Lots of sheep.

I begin summer work on Monday, and have yet to figure out when I'm volunteering at the local library. So much to do.

I've always been interested in photography, but never had the equipment or funds to do it. I still don't, but recently submitted are some pictures I took with the family's seven year old monstrous digital camera on our trip to Spain during the Summer of 2007.

I have far more patience and vision for photography than drawing; I prefer being able to set things up and then *snap*! All done. But drawing is to what I set my hand, and I do like it. But photography calls me.

I have 3 weeks till classes, then I'll probably disappear until December.

1. I hate open doors. If they're open and aren't supposed to be, I'll close them. Mostly this applies only in my house, because I have pets, but sometimes it trickles out into the wide.

2. I'm sort-of insomniac. There are nights I just cannot go to sleep, others I can but wake up ten times during the night. Certain seasons I can time it within a few minutes. Makes for tiring and difficult weeks.

3. I have difficulty paying attention sometimes. I have to work really hard to concentrate in some classes. I do this by either forcing myself to actively listen, or by doodling. Sometimes the doodling doesn't help...which is bad.

4. Two of my ancestors were Josiah Bartlett and Patrick Hillery. The former signed the American Declaration of Independence and the latter was the sixth president of Ireland.

5. I have a british accent. Occasionally I'll slip into it and my friends will say, "You're doing it again!" or "Cut it out!" Really, I can't help it I pronounce my vowels differently than you do.

6. Biking has scarred me for life. I have a nervous tick that has stayed with me a year and a half after a bike crash. I do it all the time; my pinky will curl then flick out, almost like I were stretching it, but unconciously. I also have scars on my left knee, back of my left shoulder, left elbow, left leg, skin discoloration on my left leg from a crash, and just below my right middle finger a perfect circle scar.
