THAN, part way through the month, my 'net connection goes titz-up. So NOW I have to get (Yet ANOTHER) network card.
The problem is, I'm on a REALLY tight budget, and I have to pay the registration fee for school before I do anything else. It's only if I can swing it afterwords will I be getting another net-card for my P.C. (Than we'll see how long it takes for THIS one to burn-the-F*#$@-out!)

Once there, they inform me I'd lost A HECK of a Lot more blood than I'd thought I had (I'm actually used to it, due to my medical condition), and I end up spending the weekend getting a transfusion.
That folowing Tuesday was surgery to correct a problem that shoulda been dealt with a long time ago.
Richard Pryor was right, btw, "Hospitals ain't no place to get better!"
Now I'm home on a constant diet of anti-biotics and Tylenols, and oh-so-slowly getting my strength back. My oppologies to BANetwork for my abcense; damn, there were so many projects I wanted to participate in!
On top of all that, I'm presently typing this on my brother's computer; my monitor died!!!
Anyway, best to everyone, and I'll be back soon as I get my strength and a new monitor.

On the positive side, I'm able to pick back up with my art.
That extra-tardy piece I was going to submit to BANetwork's "Journey" theme may actually soon see completion. Once the colors are done, the tough part's gonna be the effects.
I'm also back to work on "the Ares Gauntlet", redrawing the opening scene as well as another scene towards the end of issue one.
And, yeah, still tryin' to get funding for a computer animation course.

Looked like a fun way to introduce my character.
Fifty Questions For An Original Character:

1. What is your character's name?
Achilles Helix aka “Ackee” (Ah-key)

2. What is your character's name in another language?
Pretty much the same. Earth’s dialects were influenced by the Martian/Aresian culture.

3. How old is he?
Aresian/Marsian equivalent of 17 years old

4. What is your character's race and species?
He's Aresian-human (Subtle differences in DNA that allow for super-human powers).
He’s mixed with the Aresian equivalents of African and Caucasian, so in Earth’s terminology he would be called “Mullatto” or “Bi-Racial”.

5. Does he have a crush?
Yes

6. Does he have many friends?
He prefers to stay alone a lot of the time. All of the other Aresian children he knew of and trained with on Earth are dead. He believes himself to be the last. (Hence the “Omega” on his armor)

7. What planet is your character from?
As mentioned before, the planet Ares. What we call “Mars”. The continent of Thyrisia. (Near the Face)

8. Does your character like to eat?
He doesn’t look it, due to his youthfully high metabolism, but yes.

Depends on others opinion of him.

Oppression, especially the strong using force against the weak.

He lives with his mom. They don’t get along too well, unfortunately.

Yes, by the other Aresian race that followed him to Earth. Known as the “Sheol”. We call them the “Chupocabra”.

Yes, at the start of the story, at least.

No, considering he really doesn’t quite have a grasp of Earth’s cultures

Not very well. His health, generally suffers from his adjusting to Earth’s heavier gravity. Along with that, he’s prone to depression.

His appearance changes slightly when he engages his powers.

At times.

No. Though he does operate independently of the law.

Yes. He's a student at Parthenon Secondary School.

Genius level. He built his own vehicle and weapon.

As mentioned above, Earth’s heavier gravity has a negative effect on his health. For the most part, he’s adjusted, but sometimes he succumbs to it. Plus he suffers from depression, which can interfere with his mission.

He arrived on Earth with his mother at a young age (around the equivalent of 5 or 6 Earth yrs.) To his knowledge, his father died back on Ares, securing his escape.

He is just old enough to remember the fall of the planet Ares.

Just as he was ready to abandon his cause, he encountered a girl; a new student at Parthenon High. He believed her to be the one he had been searching for, the “Muse of Oracles”.

Only myself. I modeled him from myself in my late teens.

Yes, for now

As one of the warrior elite of the Aresian country of Thyrisia, Achilles is an “Achaeon Saint”.
Aside from superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes, he has the power inborn to all of those of the Achaeon Saint bloodlines. The power of “Oracle”.
The power of Oracle is the ability to envision an object or device and bring it into the physical world. His armor is one application of this ability.

Of all the lousy luck, just as I was getting into the inks on "The Ares Gauntlet", my Tachikawa's both died, so it's back to crow-quills and felt-tips. On top of that, the paper I finished the last few pages on reacts badly to ink; it smears all over the damn place. Got some spray-fix, but that leaves a residue that gums-up my pens.
So I give up. I'll just have to redraw the damned pages. The good on that is; I can step up the art. The bad is that I'm unlikely to make it in time for the summer 'con. Shite.
On a side note, one o' the best lil comic shops in 'Sauga closed down. Managed to grab some sweet swag before the end at half-price.

Now, here's my beef. There R too many indys who just aren't serious enough, that just do it 'For fun' and have no intention of ever going pro. Now, I know first hand how hard it is to make it into the field, but, it doesn't help if you go in with the attitude of "Well, I'll never be as good as (Insert Flavor-of-the-month here), so why even try?"
Heck, I'll tell you why; simple love of the art form! Besides most of those great-and-powerful artists over at Marvel & D.C started out exactly where you & I are now!
Well, to wrap it up, it easier to say, "Anything worth doing, is worth doing AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!"
