2009 is, personally, the worst year I've ever had. If you been keeping in touch, it was mainly because of my unemployment woes. Even until now I only got a part-time job and I'm seriously dying for a full-time job. Financial problems are still there and if I were living all by myself I would be barely surviving (more like I'd be homeless by now). Luckily I'm still living in the same house as my parents and my siblings.

I find it moronic when people poke fun of single adults still living w/ their parents and their siblings. In this particular type of time there's just no way in hell that you can survive on your own without a decent paying job (or rather, without a job at all). Bad economy and unemployment pwns your pride, so drop it already. Best save yourself by living with your family. After all, unless if you came from a thoroughly dysfunctional family, they're there to support you and get your life back in order again. Don't be there just for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year. Be there for your families everyday (as they will also be there for you).

In other news, I've been currently working on the Samurai High School fanlisting and mini-info site. It's just a simple layout (since it is a fanlisting after all) but it has chock full of info in there, somewhat. I'm not expecting it to win any best drama awards for this one in Japan but it's a must-see if you want something that'd make you laugh (and cry at the same time if applicable). Once I put up some "edited clips" you'll see what I mean.

First project for the new year is to redo Bluedette. I seriously need a better-looking portfolio to present myself for future jobs. Seriously. And I need to study the new and upcoming web standards markups: HTML 5 and CSS3. Is there any recommended tutorial sites or even textbooks that would teach me both?

Other than that, it'll be in my first-draft novel vaults until I come up with yet another idea for 2010 NaNoWriMo.

I got another mini-site project that I decided to pick up. This time, it's another fanlisting for the currently aired Japanese TV comedy series, Samurai High School. The storyline is somewhat a reminiscent of what a typical Disney TV (or DVD-only) movie may be like (think Wendy Wu, Homecoming Queen or even the Princess Protection Program), only this (to me that is) is tons cooler.

17-year-old high school senior Kotaro Mochizuki is just your typical, average teenage boy. He digs his music from his mp3 player, reads his manga magazines and at times the "swimsuit editions" of sports magazines, digs his videogames, addicted to the internet, all of that while suffering poor grades and his family having little to no confidence on him, and isn't exactly the most popular boy in school. Regardless, he tends to focus more on the present and his own definition of his reality. Alongside having poor grades and a somewhat blunt and non-supportive family, he is also somewhat of a pacificst, believing in solving things through civil manners rather than using violence, which in a way, makes him (from his classmates' eyes) a complete wimp and a total lame-o.

After his homeroom teacher, Sayaka Miki, gave him a punishment for sleeping (and dreaming!) in the middle of math class, which was to write a 30-page historical essay about an aspect of the Summer Campaign of the Siege of Osaka battle (1500s-1600s?), Kotaro stumbles upon a mysterious building known as the Shinonome Library of History, where he hoped he may find some good material for his 30-page essay. When the mysterious librarian, Himiko, read Kotaro's name, she immediately had a good recommendation and provided him a centuries-old journal with the account of the battle front lines during the Summer Campaign of the Siege of Osaka (technically, 400-years-old).

When Kotaro began to read a section of the journal to take notes, he discovers that one of the powerful samurai officers involved in that battle bore the same exact name as him as well as the age. In the journal, it said that Kotaro Mochizuki (samurai mentioned in the journal) was a 17-year-old high-ranking officer who volunteered to take an aim at their enemy, Tokugawa Ieyasu (who would be known as the most powerful man in samurai era Japan), and died heroically in that battle. At that moment, something amazing happened, where a light flashed in front of Kotaro and felt his heart beating--- as if another person lives within him.

That night came and Kotaro explained to his family about his discovery, about a powerful samurai who bore the same name and age as him, and later his father revealed that their family line once served the Sanada Family Clan back in the Warring States period and that he was told by his late father that they were direct descendants of a 17-yr-old samurai, also named Kotaro Mochizuki. This fact intrigued Kotaro even more and began to imagine himself being that fallen warrior as his way of "connecting" his blood lines with him.

At that point, he received a phone call from his childhood best friend, Ai Nagasawa, who said that their fellow homeroom classmate, shy and silent Tsuyoshi Nakamura, was being coaxed by a group of bullying fan girl students to shoplift at a jewelry store as his "donation" to their (illegal?) school golf team's club. Kotaro and Ai eventually arrived on the scene with Ai coaxing Kotaro to face the girls and rescue Nakamura. Due to his "pacifist" (aka wimp) nature he stepped back from them, but when he accidentally slips down the stairs and hit his head on the ground, Kotaro suddenly got in to a trance. Next thing he knew, Kotaro was no longer in control of himself, but instead another soul inside him emerged, spe...

Okay. I know I tend to make so many changes on existing projects, but hopefully this should be the official title.

As of today, the new title for the tentative Crux Odyssey Society is now changed to Freedom Sky Mysteries. The reason being is because I decided to focus more on the characters rather than the "secret society" that I made up in this story. After all, it's a humorous teenage mystery series project, right? Also, the name Jiyuzora (well, actual reading is Jiyuuzora--- I just thought removing the extra "u" would be a bit nicer-looking XD) literally translates as "freedom sky." I guess it's a bit catchier than the complicated one.

Everything else is the same, so there's not much change except for the title.

Freedom Sky Mysteries (Story 01)

In terms of original fanfiction I've been looking in to light novels, which are "quick-read" novels aimed at the younger audience (kids and teenagers?). I thought I'd turn my original teen mystery series in to a light novel series but it turns out that light novels are "downgraded" from standard/classic novel structure, which means you gotta eliminate too much detail and focus more on being dialogue-heavy.

I like description. I like to create my scenery as much as I can, and of course, the dialogue is important, but I don't want to emphasize too much on dialogue without even giving descriptions on the characters' emotions and leaving out the setting where the scene is taking place. I know people can use their imagination to picture the actual scene, but not all readers are able to do that, so adding some description and details would definitely help.

Now that I'm at this point, I began rewriting out my old Fort Kearny Mystery Stories series to a brand-new title with a lot of changes. The title is now Crux Odyssey Society, and chapter 1 is already uploaded in Fictionpress. The link is below:

Crux Odyssey Society FILE 01 (Chapter 1)

Please do read and review. I'll attempt to upload this in devART and... break it apart in to small chapters thanks to devART's character limit on text. I really appreciate it!

Levi's Jeans, Dockers Jeans, and the likes). Apparently the entire group was completed with all the database files that we're still waiting for the next few batches to come up. That would only mean that there's nothing much to do here but to wait. So that's why I'm here.

In terms of "updates," I took a break from writing "Ride the Wild Surf" (Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch) fanfic. I'm actually close to ending it but I need to refresh my mind a bit because I was very close to getting a writer's block. In turn, I've been diverting back to watching various Japanese live-action dramas and made me reminisce some of my favorite J-pop artists (in all aspects). Somehow they reminded me of my halted original fiction project and because of them, I decided to completely redo the entire concept. It's still a high-school/teen comedy/mystery/detective story, but with major (and some minor changes). I already started with the first case (first chapter?) and so far it's getting good.

I've also thought about what my next NaNoWriMo story is about. I was thinking of basing it off of my current revisions of the original project except it'd be a brand-new story (after all, it's cheating/against the rules to start the November with a story that begun before November). I still got yet to plan though.

... I resigned from the closet company as of yesterday.

Simple reasons why:

#1 - I have not made a single sale after having seven assigned clients. My first five clients had really bad attitudes and so much impatience that I had to set up 2nd appointments with them and a few of them don't even show up or aren't present at home. What's up with that? (the last two clients were a lot nicer and more patient and gave me a bit of some pep talk that made me decide to resign)

#2 - The pay is just horrible. I know it's commission-based but even the commission (according to those who were able to make sales) was horrible. I've got bills and loans to pay and $40-ish every two weeks isn't going to cut it. (and what's worse, after your first 8 weeks, you seriously have to push yourself to make a sale or you don't get paid AT ALL.)

#3 - The closet designing was not much of a problem, although the training period only lasted for a week and I think the company could've done better with the training and actually have the newbie designers "shadow" experienced designers during their first trip. It's one of the best ways new designers can learn the business. One week of training given to us and we're already out on our own.

#4 - The in-house system of the company. Some of the call center people (the ones who set up appointments for us designers) were rude to us like they think they control us. WTF? The managers are very difficult to reach whenever we need an ASAP/urgent help on location. I hate being put on hold for 10-20 minutes until an available manager answers the phone.

The entire system seriously gave me so much stress and I pretty much wasted my time, working my best in doing the designs, spending time at the clients' houses for consulting, not to mention wasting so much gas in my car because the stupid call center people would just assign us to places that are far beyond our 35-mile radius and it's just plain annoying! And all of this, we only get $40 for every two weeks? Peanuts! Absolute PEANUTS!

With the rate I was going I knew I wasn't going to make it in this business. I seriously hated this job. I literally broke in to tears at the houses of my last two clients and it was so embarrassing from my part. It was then that the last two clients began to talk to me about dealing with issues such as this and I'm glad that they were understanding with what I've gone through.

So, thanks to their advice, as well as the advice of my fellow co-worker and friend (who also resigned at the same time as I did), I resigned.

Back to unemployment again...

But on the other hand, I have no regrets quitting that job. I feel a lot more free and relieved and completely stress-free and I'm happy once again. I finally have my time to do the things I wanted to do--- like doing some web design, reading my favorite books, studying more things on my own, spend more time with my family and friends.

And yes. I'm happy.

Ever since my mom, bro, and middle sis left for the Philippines to witness my (long-time-no-see) cousin's matrimony my dad and I have been getting by during our first week of being alone (my youngest sis is at Cal Poly SLO, which is in SoCal, so a few hundreds of miles away from home). We had small meals, since there was only the two of us, plus both of us are doing our part working around the house, doing our own personal hobbies, and also we'd eat out together sometimes.

Today, my cousin and family invited us for lunch earlier. Though it was super-windy today, the sun looked really gorgeous. Because of my cousin's family's location to the cool California coast, we decided to have a family lunch picnic at Half Moon Bay, more particularly the Devil's Slide. Man, the mighty Pacific was raging, the surf were simply wild, the seagulls continued to fly over and attack the beachsters, the local surfers sitting silently on their spots meditating (more like praying) for the next major swell, beach babes walking around in skimpy bikinis trying to get the surfers' attention while little kids played and threw beach balls at each other getting in the way of those who just hang out there to watch the roaring sound of the ocean. After lunch we drove up One (that is, Highway 1) and we stopped by the Mavericks and Montara Beach just to hang out, wade by the shore while feeling the icy cold sea, enjoy the sun, read a book while chillin' at the sand, and watch other people from the families to the lovers to the surfers do their own thing. Despite the super-chilly winds, the day was just perfect.

I was a bit miffed because I forgot to bring the camera to take pictures of this dang awesome day. I haven't been to the beach for a long while and I thought it was kinda perfect too because I had a chance to do more research for my Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch fanfic (Ride the wild Surf - the entire fic is in fanfictionNET now because of devART's super stingy strict 64,000 character limit and most of my chapters are very long!) in terms of surfing (the sport), a general surfer attitude/behavior, probably some global surf lingo. My cousin-in-law was originally from Oxnard so he was pretty familiar with the sport (he is/was a surfer himself) and some general surf talk, so he helped a bit too LOL. Other than that, it was my first trip to the beach since last spring 2008. Then again, it's already spring here.

I got a job interview tomorrow. I do hope I can finally have some luck this time... x_x

If I knew that a loved one is dying before that person actually dies, my grieving begins right away. In that way it would be easy for me to cope through grief before that day came. In the case of one of my favorite uncles it worked.

My uncle had a mild stroke early last week and was rushed to the ICU. Few days later he recovered and was conscious too and was taken out of the ICU. It lasted for awhile until Friday when he fell unconscious and the doctors detected pneumonia and was rushed back to the ICU. Next thing they knew his entire body was gradually shutting down section by section that there was little to no hope that there would be any sign of improvement for my uncle's health. Saturday came and they placed him on life support because ICU was not going to work. Sunday my cousin across the bay flew over to Seattle to join the family and visit her dying father. When we heard the news that the doctor gave them a choice of whether to keep him on life support a little while longer or pull the plug and let my uncle pass on I knew right away that we should start mourning early. After hours of talking through together the entire family decided to give in and have the doctors pull the plug. The doctors decided they wait longer until Monday noon and if there really was no sign or hope of any improvement that they will pull the plug at noon.

My parents are heading off to Seattle in two days for the funeral. I wanted to go but due to my unemployment and my current financial standing I can't afford to fly my way there. So instead I bought a sympathy card for the entire family with a small contribution along with it to pay for the funeral costs. I swear, everything in this country always revolved around money, even just for burying your loved one who recently died, it'll also costs you money. Anyway, this isn't the time to complain about money anyway.

Next week my mom, brother, and sister are heading to the Philippines to attend my cousin's wedding. My uncle was supposed to be my aunt's escort to my cousin's wedding but because of his death it'll be difficult for my aunt to find a new escort for her son's wedding (my aunt is separated from her husband, who may be disabled all his life but also had a spoiled personality at the same time). As for me, I had a feeling that my uncle's time will come soon but not this soon. He was already in the mid-80s so that was one sign, but why did he have to pass away a week before another exciting moment in our family? Life isn't always fair and we all knew it.

I'll be alright. I've gone through several family deaths in my life. I can't say that each family death is "nothing" and that I can let it pass easily, but I'm already done grieving.

If only life can be as simple as how it used to be I would be seriously happy right now.

So, a small update. I got a part-time job as a future financial analyst undergoing through training right now. I'm still searching for a full-time job, sadly.

On the other news, after my brief Tokyo Mew Mew fandom moment I quickly moved on to another one of those magical girl genre of manga/anime series, known as Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. Usually when I write (devART) journals about a manga/anime series with somewhat witty journal titles (with my previous one being Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! for Tokyo Mew Mew) they're usually short clues as to what the series is about (at least a major part of it).

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch is a slightly different magical girl manga/anime series created by newer/fresher mangaka and writer Pink Hanamori and Michiko Yokote. This is a story about a North Pacific mermaid princess named Lucia who was sent to Earth and pose as a human (named Lucia Nanami) in order to find her powerful pink pearl that gives her the power to transform in to a magical girl using her singing voice as her weapon to fight against an ominous evil about to rise up from the deep seas. It turns out that the reason why she was missing her pink pearl was because she gave it to a particular someone during her childhood. She saved a young boy from a tsunami (?) wave that took over a cruise ship that also killed the boy's parents at the same time. When recalling that memory Lucia admitted to herself that she fell in love with the boy she rescued for the first time. To revive the boy she gave him her pink pearl and left him still alive and breathing. The only way to get her pearl back was to find the boy she rescued from that cruise ship accident.

Many years later at age 13, Lucia Nanami (aka Lucia's human form) meets a hot-looking popular surfer boy named Kaito Doumoto at the town's local beach and instantly gets a crush on him, simply because he reminded her of the boy she rescued those seven years ago. Fortunately for her later on we also find out that Kaito was that boy she rescued years ago and he still had the pink pearl she gave him to save his life. Later on as she attempts to befriend him and give her pearl back (they end up being classmates in the same class and she also actively participates in surfing tournaments to watch him) she also learns the real reason why she was instructed to get her pearl back. She learns that an ancient empire under a potentially ominous evil lord had infiltrated other sea kingdoms and use the mermaid princess' powers for sea world (and eventually the surface world--- our world) conquest and that Lucia has to find the other missing mermaid princesses (some captured and some in hiding as humans like herself) in order to defeat this empire. Using their pearls and their singing voices (do keep in mind that mermaids are sirens, thus their singing voices are their powers), the mermaid princesses (or known as a superhero idol group Pichi Pichi Voice) fight against the minions of the evil-influenced Panthalassa Empire led by a madman emperor named Gackto (in the anime his name was changed to Gaito to undo the confusion with the real-life J-Pop/Rock artist named Gackt) and save the day (both in the sea world and the surface world).

There were other major elements in the series other than a magical team saving the world from evil bit. For instance Lucia has to deal with Kaito being in love with the mermaid who rescued him (which is her original mermaid form) and she cannot confess her love for him or even confess to him that she is a mermaid or else she would turn in to foam and die (derived from Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tail, The Little Mermaid (yes, the same as the one Disney released 20+-ish years ago except they're going for the original storyline instead of the Disney "happy ending" version). But since the "old folklore" didn't state anything about the human finding out her real identity on his own she provided small hints both in her mermaid form and in her human form and have Kaito realize that the human Lucia who loves him and the mermaid Lucia whom he's in love with are one in the same on his own. There were other side stories as well with the other characters and relationships with others (most likely with humans). What I also like about this series is that it also provided elements of beach life and surf culture in Japan (which isn't much different from the beach life/surf cultures here in California and Hawaii except that they are in Japan), in which I have life experiences living the beach life and sometimes surf culture during my summers or spring breaks whenever my family and I would spend time with relatives at coastal towns (...

Prominent web designing/development book publishing company Sitepoint is raising $100,000 (USD) to donate to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal by selling PDF file versions of their currently published books at one price. You get to choose 5 of their award-winning books from web designing to project management for only $29.95 (USD). I think this is a very good, handsome deal for all you aspiring web designers, developers, and future web development entrepreneurs out there because you're actually purchasing these for a very good cause. You only have until the 13th though (not sure if this is Australian time but it is then you only got until tomorrow US time) in order to take advantage of this really cool deal.

It's a simple reason why Sitepoint is doing this. The horrid brushfires is located in Victoria, pretty close to their main city of Melbourne. Sitepoint's main headquarters is in a suburb of Melbourne, so those brushfires aren't too far from where they are located. This particular company is calling out to web designers and developers from all around the world to take this sweet offer, in which 100% of your $29.95 purchase proceeds to the Australian Red Cross to pay for the damages caused by the bushfires. Sitepoint happens to be one of my favorite book publishers for web designing and development. I own some books published by this company and they are great sources for all my work and education all at once.

I did this for personal reasons (I think for those who know me well know why). I have a friend who lives in that area and my thoughts and prayers are to her, but at the same time it's pretty much related to the land I'm currently living at. As someone who lives in California, one of the warmest spots of the U.S. who always see wildfires/forest fires at the hilly and mountainous areas near my area almost every spring and summer, I thought I would also take part in relieving Victoria from the bushfires. I do my part with the forest fires from time to time. Why not do the same for Australia?

Okay, I know this is evil and the wrong time to have something like this happen to me, but I humbly admit that I have a current unhealthy obsession to an old manga/anime series, Tokyo Mew Mew (aka outside Japan as Mew Mew Power).

I'm not a huge fan of the magical girl genre. I used to love Sailor Moon back in the old, old, old days (like 1990s days) but with too many episodes and too many powers and too many relationships and characters I thought the series itself had gone really overboard. There's a fine line of cuteness, romance, and world peace at once and then there's the other that's just too much. At least with Tokyo Mew Mew the story ended at the right time.

I know I may be one of the few who realized that this series isn't just another one of those cliched magical girl anime/manga series where a girl gets the guy she's been in love with and all the other cutesy elements in there, but overall the series also reminds us how our precious our world is and that we must be careful on how we treat our environment and our habitat. Sure, it's a strange way to present it but I thought it was clever at the same time.

So, remember, kids, you too can take a part in saving our environment and preserve our habitat from all the culprits who destroy and abuse our world, from conserving our natural resources to throw our litter to the appropriate trash bins. Sure, you may not have those awesome mutating animal powers like the Mew Mews do, but you can still save the world by cleaning up your waste, encourage others to help and clean up their wastes as well, and don't forget to conserve your materials and reduce your usage of paper and water, reuse the ones you can still use for a later time, and most of all, recycle!

In short, I'm currently writing a Tokyo Mew Mew fanfic. I'm following the manga story and I'll even have two versions of it (the original and the Mew Mew Power version where I just replace the names with the ones used in the English dub just so all fans of either preference would be able to read it). I'll upload it here and on fanfictionNET when I can. And for those of you long-time Mew Mew fans, this is an Ichigo & Masaya-centered fanfic. Don't waste my time bashing me just because the guy isn't Ryou or Kish (jeez, people, get a life!), and also your pointless bashing is not going to convince me from changing my fic. The story's already written this way anyway and if you still have problems with that, go and write to both Ikumi-san and Yoshida-san (the creators and writers), though I doubt they'd care what you think anyway.

In fact, I already started writing the fic. Chapter 1 coming up soon.

TGIO? Well, not quite.

First up, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate. I also hope that not only you all had fun but I hope that you are all safe as well, most especially in this very difficult time.

My Christmas was pretty good, even if majority of us have been tired, deprived of sleep, and all sorts of ailments due to this really harsh weather and condition that affected so many people. I felt really "cheap" when I went out shopping for my family but on the other hand a gift is a gift and the true meaning of gifts is that they were given to another person with no expense to that other person. In other words, it's the thought of giving is what counts the most.

I've jotted a small list of things that I would like to do for this coming 2009 early on. They're not much but these are a few that I would like to seriously accomplish.

Edit "The Photojournalist and the Red Ribbon" (NaNoWriMo novel)

Finish Web Design Master's Certificate Program

Update all my sites that had been outdated for too long...

Pay off some debts as much as I can

Read more bestselling books (and I don't mean on the Twilight-type of bestselling... I mean contemporary literature-type of bestselling books. I prefer mysteries though)

That's all I can think of so far. As far as New Year's Resolutions I've already jotted them down but I'd rather not share them because they are very personal to me.

I don't think I mentioned this but pretty soon I'm going to be moving my Fort Kearny Mystery Stories original fiction to the Scraps section because I'm actually going to a rewrite of this. This was all inspired from the NaNo novel that I finished writing last month (that still has yet to be edited). The new title of the rewrite is The Kearnian Courier and for those who I sent my first draft to you all know where that name came from and what that is.

Well, that's it for now. Back to working on chores and read some more.

#1 - I barely have any CL-related deviations in my account with the exception of my defunct CL fanfic (really, who's going to read this anyway? The title is just lame and repetitive...) and my digitally-edited CD cover of the old CL Supernova Remix Project back at the old LG (which doesn't exist anymore). Does that make me a non-fan? Not really. I just barely have any time to get in to the fan stuff and thinking more about being original. Besides, who's going to "wow" at an "unoriginal" edited image anyway?

#2 - There's barely any fanart that has the entire gang (meaning JEREMIE (and at times WILLIAM) is included) that were posted in these CL fanclub accounts in dA. As some of you know Jeremie is my favorite character in CL (whether you find him annoying or not--- I can actually relate to him and his plights that many of you one-sided obsessed fanatics who would never (or just refused to) understand) and this kid deserves JUSTICE. Yumi & Ulrich, fine by me. Odd & Aelita? Hell no.

#3 - I don't have that many friends who are members of these groups. Many of the people included I have seen (and encountered) at CL fan forums. Many of them I'm not close to, while few I just don't get along with. In short, I'll never fit in with the people in there.

#4 - Why is it that I see only fan art, barely any fan fics, and no commentary/prose related to CL in all of these clubs? Where's the variety? I thought dA is supposed to be a COMMUNITY. Has anyone forgot what that particular word means nowadays?

#5 - I'm a CL fan, that's the fact. But as a fan who has a devArt account am I required to join these fanclubs? It's pretty difficult for anyone in here to recognize me as a CL fan because I barely have anything fan-related to CL in my account. I'm not very good at traditional drawing, let alone the stick figures, and I just don't have any motivation or inspiration to write anything related to CL. I do most of that at the forum(s) whenever I'm inspired to say something or not. I'd like to write some witty poetry but rhyming dictionaries just don't work for me.

I brought this up because from out of the blue I ended up visiting these CL-related clubs that already existed. I'm not going to name which one of these I'm referring to but if you're a club owner and you read this particular entry and you realize that my descriptions mentioned truly fit you, then you know I am talking to you. I know you all would see me as some disgruntled old-timer of no importance to anyone but I do hope that this particular entry does get through your head and think about the possible changes that you need to do in order to get your clubs active again.

Seriously, I support any CL fanclubs here. I just want these clubs to be a lot more open and with more variety in terms of the content presented and accepted as well as the people who are a part of them. Fandom still continues even if the particular series has ended. Take Sailor Moon and Dragonball (Z/GT), for example.

I swear, I really need to sit down and read these writing books just so I can come up with a more witty journal entry title.

I laid off of my first draft of my NaNoWriMo novel for awhile in order to move forward to other projects. I still have yet to work on my sites including my portfolio and among other things but for the moment I'm working on is the official home of the Voices of Lyoko Radio Play project.

For more info on that, visit 's blog.

Right now I'm going crazy with all this validation bit. My original coding before it was uploaded to my site was indeed valid code according to the lovely W3C Validator, but when I finally converted it to PHP includes style just by copying and pasting the codes in the appropriate files the validator spotted one error and it had something to do with the DOCTYPE code above the document. I checked the top carefully and it was the same exact code as the one from the original codes. I even went further by copying/pasting that same exact code from my portfolio site (which was valid code and we're using the same DOCTYPE of XHTML 1.0 Strict) and it still wouldn't validate.

It made me wonder if I was going crazy or not that this validator was either broken or it just doesn't like my site. I know my DOCTYPE code is correct. I even checked the source codes of my favorite "super-web standards"-savvy sites to be sure that they were identical to each other (and they are indeed the same exact DOCTYPE code). No matter how much I re-typed, copied and pasted that same exact code that stupid validator thing still gives me an error.

I wanted to fill up all the other sections with some content but this validator tidbit really derailed me from my focus. Even until now I'm still going crazy.

I guess from this point on I'll have to continue working on the site and deal with that nasty "one little error from the validator" issue.

Reason why it bothered me because of the following:

#1 - My original work (both art and literary) isn't very well-liked or aren't interesting to a lot of people. I guess I'm only good at editing images digital-style (ie. the CL CD cover).

#2 - People who are adding my stuff to their favorites aren't commenting at all.
I haven't been writing and visiting here simply because of NaNoWriMo (wrote about it here - [link]). I did accomplish the 50,000 word count but in reality the novel/book isn't finished yet. It's almost finished, but not even close. I hope I can finally finish this novel before the deadline date so I can submit in my official word count (as of now I have 63,122 word count recorded in the NaNoWriMo site - [link]) and earn my certificate.

It's one of the main reasons why I've been silent. Apparently I underestimated myself and realized that I have accomplished the challenge but the novel isn't completed. To me an unfinished novel regardless if it exceeded the target word count is not a complete accomplishment. I have to finish the novel in order for me to actually feel that accomplishment. I know, pointless, but still.

Lately I've been feeling that everyone seems to be looking down on me, which may be the reason why I snap out from out of nowhere easily and get offended easily. I've been feeling that I'm being belittled by people due to opinions expressed, so bad that I just wanted to scream at everyone demanding them to listen to what I have to say. Lately also I haven't been getting along with a lot of people. I don't know if I'm having problems I'm unaware of or people just simply sick and tired of seeing an "old timer" still hanging around a community dedicated to a show for kids.

Whatever. I just don't feel like I belong anywhere other than my family and the church choir. I feel that I don't belong to the "internet crowds" anymore. I don't even know who's a friend and who isn't anymore because of differences in opinion on certain issues.

I guess I just don't like to argue and fight, but if I don't argue and fight in return then that would only make me look like a weakling and that I'm only letting people walk all over me shoving to others that their opinions are correct and screw the rest.

Maybe my retirement from internet communities had begun its countdown.

Yes, I did it. I signed up to compete in the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). My goal - write a novel that contains 50,000 (or more) words before the end of the month. The competition starts this weekend, November 1st, and that's when we officially start writing.

I did some preparation though. I can't use the fic that I'm currently working on (TFKMS) but I decided to write a related story to TFKMS. It's going to focus more on Vina (Bagdasarian) Horie, who is the mother (and the police detective) of Eljin and Airi Horie, our main characters of TFKMS. Title is still tentative but the first title I gave is Just Like Marian Halcombe. If you read classic mystery novels, Marian Halcombe is the main character (or one of the main characters) in Wilkie Collins' mystery novel, The Woman in White. (Andrew Lloyd Webber actually had a musical based on this novel too... o.o; )

Earlier at work I was surfing around the net for a bit and discovered that there are other word processing programs out there that are specifically designed for fiction writing, whether if it's in novel format, short story format, or even screenplay/script format. The structure and everything looked very organized however they look a little complicated to use. I pondered about using one of these types of programs but because NaNoWriMo starts officially this Saturday I'll have to stick with good old MS Word (or Open Office... depends on what my mood is).

Well, I finally opened my new blog site. It's no longer in Akaliane anymore so please update your URLs if you have me linked. Use this link instead - [link]

Also, if you know me pretty well and my little stint with a certain person from many months ago, please do not reveal this new location without my consent, please.
A lot of people make a big deal of it. Some people don't even celebrate them. But regardless of what everyone thinks about that day, everyday is an individual's birthday.

So today, 10/14/2008, reminds me that I am now a year older than yesterday. It's one of those days where I start to ask myself whether I'm "too old" for my hobbies. On the other hand, I don't think that there is such thing as being "too old" for anything. Anything and everything designed for a specific target audience from age 0 to 100+ were all created by adults anyway.

For instance, cartoons, anime, manga, comic books, graphic novels. Many of them are targeted towards the younger ages, and yet at the same time all of them, from storyline to the art, were all created by adults. Many kids don't realize that and some of them poke fun of the people older than them for enjoying/liking some kids show simply because they're "for kids only." How can something created by an adult can suddenly have to be "limited" towards a certain target audience? As far as I'm concerned anybody can get in to something that's past their time.

Family films, for example. Most likely children would be the main focus on these family films (or cutesy-illustrated animals even if the story consisted of animals), which is easy to assume that the films would be "for kids" only. Well, the word "family" contradicts that, meaning that adults (whether if they are parents or single adults) can enjoy the story as well. There is a reason why they're called "family films" after all.

My parents (my mother especially) used to keep telling my siblings and me (we're all over 20s) that we're "too young" to play video games. It was easy for her to say that because she did not grow up playing video games as they were released/invented during our childhood time. Today, just like with movies in general, there are very many different genres and ratings in video games. There are games for children and games for adults, and games for the in-between.

Time came when my siblings and I got a Nintendo Wii for our father's birthday last year so that he can have something to do whenever he wants to work out. Wii Sports and Wii Play were really good physical video games, which was why we decided to "take a risk" and went for one of the hottest game consoles of today. Ever since the Nintendo Wii's debut in our family my siblings and I barely had a chance to play anymore. Reason why that became the case because both my parents had grown addicted to the Wii and truly enjoyed Wii Sports and Wii Play. Next year they requested for us to get them Wii Fitness and even further on to requesting Guitar Hero or Rock Band for their birthdays. Ever since then our mother stopped telling us that we're "too old" for video games. We pretty much became a family of gamers, so much that every other weekend my parents would hold Wii Tournaments at our house with their friends. It was perfect too because they recently purchased a new 72" Hi-Def TV about five months ago.

As I was writing this I began to realize that those who are more open-minded are correct. You can never be "too old" for anything. If the younger-aged (and even the older-aged) people think you're "too old" to get in to something "young", such as listening to today's pop music to watching and enjoying movies like "High School Musical," it only shows how close-minded and shallow these people are. Traditionalists? Elitists? Whatever. All the same.

And so concludes my birthday commentary. I feel a lot better now. 32-years-old? The execs and higher managers here at work think I'm lying about my age. They all believe I'm about 10 years younger than 32. I can't argue with them unless I have to show them my driver's license, which expires today actually.

Go figure.

I've already spoken to Mack [link] and optimus [link] about posting "chain mails/messages" on my account yesterday about this issue. This was the second time I've received from them and I don't really blame them for posting these on my journal simply because they received the same thing from their friends and if they don't pass it out to other people whoever sent them would get pissed.

To those who kept passing/posting these chain messages on other people's accounts, let me ask you this question. What are your definitions of friendship and appreciation in regards to the people whom you added as your "friends" and to the people who added other people as part of your "deviant watch"? Does your friendship and appreciation have to be based on these ridiculously spammy chain mails/messages?

If you realize it, peeps, passing/posting chain mails/messages is another form of posting spam. Why? Because they contain messages that has absolutely nothing to do with you personally or even towards all your work that you spent time creating and showcasing them in this wonderful art community that some people take advantage of using other people's accounts just so they can get recognized by the masses. Does mass recognition really mean A LOT to you? 'Cuz if it is, you seriously need to step out of your computer more often and do some outside activities. It's seriously pathetic, really.

I also find it insulting on my part too. Friend or not, if you only come to visit my devArt account just to post chain mails/messages it's already giving me these two things:

#1 - You don't give a rat's arse about me as a person or the stuff I write in my journal and...

#2 - You don't give a rat's arse about my work that I showcase in my account for all fellow artists and writers to see.

Just who do you people think I am? I know I don't visit other people's accounts as much but at least I don't disrespect them by posting all these stupid chain mails/messages. My friendship to all of you will always remain the same without the necessity of receiving and forwarding these chain mails/messages. It's spamming, that's what I see it, because the contents in them has nothing to do with me or my works. I thought devArt is supposed to be a community of artists and writers alike who want to share their work with others who are like them? Shouldn't we focus more on those two major factors than waste our time passing on these chain mails/messages? Seriously.

Sure, my works may not be as good as everyone else's, nor does my writing, but my devArt account is NOT A DUMPING GROUND FOR CHAIN MAILS/MESSAGES! If I see another chain mail/message posted in my account again I WILL mark it as SPAM (friend or not, I'm very SERIOUS about this)!

And for those who start these chain mails/messages, seriously. Get a life. Go out more often. Join some art-related local clubs or school clubs (if you go to school that is) or even join book clubs at your local library or bookstore or something. It's hard to find inspiration for something new to share with everyone, sure, but it's a way that would help you get brimmed with new ideas and put them in words and pictures. If you're a writer if clubs don't work for you, then get those writing kits or something (I got about 3 writing kits--- and they were all presents from family and friends x.x).

Please don't waste time picking all your "friends" (which I'm pretty sure a few of them aren't really your friends) in your Friends list and spam them with these chain mails/messages in their accounts and use whatever time you got to seek inspiration and ideas for your plethora of artistic work in your gallery. Or even read each other's journals and actually comment/reply to them?

I'm asking you nicely, please.
Starting today I started uploading my first "prose commentary" out of boredom here at work. I call it the "PO" Series. PO simply stands for "Personal Outtakes", so technically it's just general opinion babble about general topics from the underground to the mainstream. Expect the unexpected, as many say.

I started this simply because I'm still uninspired in reconstructing my new personal blog on a new location. I'm also thinking of going back to Wordpress again after my personal initial run on bMachine. It lacks a lot of stuff there--- primarily the ability to create different categories and subcategories for each entry I write in there. Like WTF is that? For a lightweight blogging engine I understand there's no page generator like wordpress but the inability to create categories and subcategories...? What's up with that?

Anyway, short journal entry again. I'll be writing more about these "PO" commentaries later. Once I get my new blog up at least I finally got some content other than blog entries.

Tomorrow is my lovely appointment with the DMV to renew my driver's license. I had to go to the DMV office because I need to have my new picture taken and do more eyesight testing. I still wear my correctional lenses to see better so not sure why I need to have another eye test since it's already stated on my current license that I need correctional lenses to drive...

What if I had laser surgery then? Now what? (not that I had laser surgery...)

I pondered about getting a subscription for devArt but I realized that I still got yet to learn about devArt's features as a free account. I had to get used to the "old skool" features in uploading literature/text. Apparently they don't accept uploaded files directly and it treats it as an artwork file (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc.), even if you upload it as a PDF.

I know I don't normally write journals here as I have my own blog (which I'm still in the works of remaking it) but I try my efforts. I've been thinking of figuring out a format on journaling here on devArt since I've seen other people's devArt journals having their own formats (subscribed members not included). For instance, how are users able to use other users' avatars and link them to their journals whenever they talk about the people in their friends list? I would spend some time checking the Help section but I don't have time to do that (got other stuff to work on).

Just another random journal entry coming from me while I'm here at work. More later.

Okay... I don't know if it's just my browser or something but I've been having problems with devArt as of last night. First up, for some reason I can't log in to devArt w/ Firefox here at work. Second, devArt won't upload my ch. 2 fic. I put HTML in there and yet it won't read it (like the first 2 chapters). Guess I'll just have to put plain text in there instead later tonight.

I'm not getting any readership or any beta-readers for my fic, not here, not even @ fictionpress. I signed up @ mediaminer and ficwad to see if I have any luck there. I'd love to have some feedback to see if it's worthy enough to continue on this or not.

I'm still in some ways a "noob" when it comes to devART since I rarely come here, so I don't know any of these BBcodes or whatever that you use when you write journal entries here, so bare with me. Things have gotten really problematic w/ devART already that I'm probably thinking of removing my account from here.

Anyway, just a short rant from me today.

Lately I've been working on an original fiction that I've always wanted to write but never had the time or the drive to do so. I started writing it last weekend and posted it up in FictionPress ([link]) but I haven't had any luck in attracting readers there. I was thinking of posting it in 5S for some beta-readers/viewership but I'm not quite sure where to post it (plus would the staff be okay with posting a non-CL-related story?), so I scratched that idea.

So, in a few minutes or so I'll upload the first two chapters. Currently they're written in MS Word so I have to convert them in to HTML. I'm not sure if devArt supports uploading MS Word files and maintain its format but I'll take a look in to it.

I'm currently working on ch. 2 right now. I kinda lost my drive and motivation to continue my CL fanfic that I posted here. I'll probably remove them pretty soon.

That's it for now. I'm currently working on more projects including non-CL-related projects. I'm also moving my Akaliane personal blog to another location and if you're interested in keeping track, let me know and I'll give you the URL.

That's about it for now. I'll write more later.

Here's my first image of him (without running away from me every time I come out of the house). At first my parents named him "Mocha-Latte," then changed to "Mocha." But out on a whim my dad started calling him "Darkness" because every time he feeds Ming Yao and the other cats some food he couldn't see Darkness at night except for those itty-bitty yellow eyes of his.

So, there you go. When time permits, I'll post more Darkness pics... maybe one with Ming Yao too if I'm able to get those two to get along...

I'm one of those people who would sometimes go around these directory sites (List Me, etc.) and just look at people's personal sites and blogs. I noticed that a lot of these so-called "trendy designs" among teens were declared that they were only created in 10 minutes or so. Every time I see these types of notations in the About sections or something somehow it just makes me cringe...

It makes me wonder if making a website design in 10 minutes should make me feel old and a total "n00b" in designing. Personally for me it takes me hours to days (depending on my mood and/or inspiration) to actually complete a website design, only for the fact that I wanted to have every function of my website working very well. That also includes keeping my code clean and making sure that they are up to W3C standards and accessibility. I wonder if these people actually went through standards and accessibility within those 10 minutes, at first, but after seeing their source code, the missing and neglected DOCTYPE already told me that these people never even bothered checking their sites for standards and accessibility.

A 10-minute website design... I still have yet to see a very impressive yet accessible website, standards and everything, that was only created in 10 minutes. Someone impress me if this is possible...

But since I'm such a tolerant person I decided to change the lighter blue to a darker blue.

And there you have it. I don't have a guestbook, nor did I put a comments section in my main page (it was meant to be an updates page, not a blog), so you'll have to give me some feedback by responding to this dA journal entry.

One thing that I noticed with my uploaded fan fics was that DA does not read XHTML & CSS -based HTML files. Can you believe that...? I guess DA doesn't support validated markup but "old-school" HTML-based HTML files. How lame is that...? Maybe it's the web designer in me that's making me rant about the entire problem.

Anyway, that's what I have done--- converted the XHTML & CSS out and "converted" it to standard HTML. It felt kind of weird for me to change everything to using tags that are no longer valid according to the good old World Wide Web Consortium ([link])...

I hope my fan fics are a lot more readable now. Please, comment/suggestions/constructive criticism are always welcome.... T___T

After over a year of not using DAZ Studio I finally figured out why my system kept lagging every time I tried to render the finished product of my characters. All this time I kept viewing my work in progress in textured mode and never really realized that it took a lot of memory for the final product to be rendered while still viewing it in textured mode.

So, what I did was to change the viewing mode to wireframe mode. Now instead of taking almost five minutes to render, it'd only take me seconds instead. My splash page that I made for my friend DJ ([link]) was my very first 3D artwork ever since... 2006...? Holy cow, has it been that long.

Anyway, this is my first and "real" deviation. Jeez, that DeviantID looked rather horrible...
