Well It has been a while since I have been active on here, allot has been going on in my life. Most recently is my move to Florida. Wow what a change from Alaska lol. I miss the mountains allot and looking out at the ocean every day but I am really enjoying the heat and the diversity of Florida. I don’t plan to stay here forever but for now it is a welcome change of scenery and change is a good thing, keeps us from getting complacent. I have just been certified to dive recently so I am hoping to have some cool pictures to post one day. I am also working on getting my shop set up and hope to be back to carving very soon, been missing that. One thing I am really excited about being down here is all the art classes that are available, that is the one area that was really lacking in Alaska. Some of you might wonder why Florida? let’s just say that love is in the air take care all.

Depression is such a wonderful thing... NOT. Some of you may have noticed that I have not been around for a couple of months. When I get depressed I have a tendency to withdraw into myself and shut out the rest of the world. It started with an aunt of mine losing her foot to a botched surgery and we all thought that might be it for her. As it is she will never go home now, her daughter does not want to be bothered with taking of her and is selling her home. Then after that a man I have known all my life and in some ways was a grandfather to me passed away. I work at the hardware store that he and my actual grandfather started together. It is rather strange knowing that he will not be coming around the store. He was always a very pleasant man with something good to say at all times. I will miss him a great deal. As if that was not enough I twisted my ankle and was not able to walk much for a couple weeks and am now just getting back to work. On top of all this I have been inundated with requests to carve wolf charms to the point that when I sat down to carve I felt guilty if I was not carving charms, so I just stopped carving all together. Which is not a good thing, carving is something I truly enjoy and is part of what keeps me sane. I do take it as a great complement that people want me to carve wolf charms for them but there are just too many requests coming in and I have never done well with repetitiveness in my life of any kind. Could be why I have never stayed with a job more than four years. Any way no more wolf charms. I have taken a hold of my boot straps and am pulling my sorry butt out of the pity pot but it is a slow process at times. I have also started carving again which is a great help and in some ways so is putting down my thoughts here. Take care all and have a great and happy holiday season.

I take it as a great complement when someone asks me to carve something for them or just takes the time to look at my work. So to all of you thank you so much.

Well I just got back from Vernon BC, Canada were I went through a 6 day jade working work shop. I had a blast and really enjoyed myself. Working with jade was great, I can see doing it again but on the down side I can see myself spending a good chunk of money just to get set up with some tools to do jade work. Oh well that’s the way it goes and I really don't mind because I am kind of a tool junky lol. See ya on the flip side

I hope to change that but I have never been real good at time management lol but am working on it. Talk to you all later.

Well it has been a while since I have had the time or energy to do any kind of art work the new job keeps me humping and tired. I am starting to get adjusted to the schedule and budgeting my time is getting easier so I hope to get back to doing some more art work. The stained glass project was fun so I am sure you all will be seeing some more of that in the future as well as more carvings, I have a couple laid out just need to start them I really enjoy getting on here and seeing what you all have been doing it keeps me inspired. I don't always have the energy to say so as it is usually late when I get on here and check things out but I just wanted to let the people I watch know I think you all do great work. Well I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with family and friends.

Well the cabin is all closed up for another winter It is kind of sad to see all the windows boarded up and the boats haled out of the water. The days are getting shorter and people are soaking up as much of the sun as they can. Now is the time that everyone starts to get in the frame of mind for winter which seems to be a challenge for a lot of people, but not me I enjoy winter. I love the beauty the snow brings to the world. For me winter brings a sense of freedom and peace as a lot of people stay inside and do not venture out unless they have to. But I love the quiet and solitude of winter. My dog and I get out as often as we can and hike the woods and beaches and hills. There are people out just not as many and it is easier to have a place to myself. Anyway I am rambling and some of you may wish I never discovered this journal writing lol. Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Well I am heading out to the cabin tomorrow morning for a few days to get it closed up for the winter and since I have no internet out there yet I will see you all when I get back. I hope to have some pictures I can post when I get back. I never get tired of the time I spend there and wish I could stay longer but have to make a living and unless I want to go back into commercial fishing again there is no work there and there is no way I will go back to fishing lol. So until I figure a way to support myself out there I guess I will just bounce back and forth.

Well I thought I would give this a try. I always have a hard time figuring out what to say. So since I was tagged by [link] on a voluntary bases that is, this seemed like a good way to give the journal a try. So here are nine things about me.

1. I love to wood carve. A lot of my carvings are from logs or drift wood I have gotten off the beaches.

2. I am single/divorced but enjoy my own company and of course the company of my black lab, Ranger. You could probably call me a confirmed bachelor

3. I hate to see other people or animals hurting and do not understand all the cruelty that goes on in the world. So I have a tendency to be a hermit in a lot of ways. That may not necessarily be good (kind of like the ostrich with its head in the sand) but at this point in my life it is what I am comfortable with.

4. I have never volunteered for anything except the army. I think about it but I am always at war with the hermit in me that does not want to get involved, that just wants to ignore all the pain and suffering that goes on in the world. So far the hermit is winning.

5. Did I say I love my dog he is my buddy and shadow. I also had a ferret but he died a few months ago.

6. I love the ocean, hence living on an island. I love the smell of it the constant motion of it and all the life that is on, in or around it.

7. I look at DA as a way of putting myself out in the lime light even if it is only through me art work but my art work is so much a part of me that it might as well be me, if that makes sense. And thus by exposing my art work/myself, in a sense I am forcing myself out of my shell and as a result growing in a positive manner. I hope

8. I love Calvin and Hobbes

9. I have enrolled in a stained glass class so you might be seeing some of that work in the future.

Well for good or bad there is my first journal entree. Who knows when there will be another one
