I haven't been out with my camera in a while and really should adventure out some more. I've been just really busy with work and life and haven't taken any time to just do some photography.

I would make plans on when I'll post more stuff but it never seems to work out! I will try and post some new work soon though.


I've been tinkering around with Terragen 2 a bit and have come up with some interesting scenes; I just need to get a better understanding of it before I delve into it more.


I've also been trying to save money so I can get a better camera; a Digital Rebel XT to be exact... I really want to try and expand my photography capabilities with Macro lenses and filters.. On the camera I have now (a mere Sony Cybershot), I'm not able to do as much advanced stuff as I'd like.

I really haven't been on deviantART much over the past few years; I really haven't played with Terragen much. Photography is becoming more and more my passion; I need a better camera though!

I'm hoping that at some point this year, or early next year, when I get a bonus from my job, I'll go and pick up a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I've heard a lot of great stuff about it and the selection of lenses Canon has that fit it is amazing.

Anyone who reads this and has suggestions of filters, polarizers and lenses I should get, please let me know. I've only used a Sony CyberShot as my camera and want to move to DSLR ASAP!

I had worked on some Terragen stuff but not really too much. Like I said, Photography is becoming more and more my passion; I read Popular Photography religiously and more and more of my devWATCH's go to photographers.

I also just moved into a new house so I've been busy with that. I plan on posting some more pictures soon, once I get my office setup and get back on my home PC.

Finally I completed Our Island - Part Deux. In fact, I just submitted it about 5 minutes ago. Hopefully you guys will like it. I really did spend a lot of time trying to make it look good. There's definately shit I'd like to fix now that I look at it but, I've been working on it so long, I just needed to submit it. I am happy with the results though; I think it turned out good. It's not the greatest, but good We'll see what everyone else says.

I'm going to take "End of Day" and work on the textures a bit more so it doesn't look like shit and re-render it and repost it on here. It definately needs some work and I don't even know why I submitted it like that; it's horrible

Also, as I said in my last journal, I'm going to try working on an Acura RSX model in 3D Studio Max. I'm debating if I want to try NURBs or Polygonal. I've got training material on both so I'm not sure ... those that use 3D Studio Max, let me know what you think!

Damn these prints!!

I'm ALMOST complete with my picture, I just need to render the FINAL render and slap the border on and I'm done. Unfortunately, I didn't get the other stuff done in time to post it today. I'm going to render it most likely tonight and let it run straight through the rest of the weekend as it's going to take a long time. I'm rendering this beast at 6400x4800!

Hopefully you guys will enjoy this piece. I have a feeling it's not as great as others, but I'll definately see what happens. Maybe you will like it

I need suggestions

I need suggestions on what size I should have the final posting on here. Should it be 1024x768? Or perhaps 1280x1024?? Or 800x600!?? You guys tell me ...... PLEASE!! ... I'm counting on you

What's next!?

I'm have a couple of pictures that I've posted in the past that I want to put into prints. 'End of Day' is one of those. I REALLY need to fix up the horrible line that I have in the picture near the shore. I'll fix it up and repost it with a better resolution as well as a print.

I'm also going to be working on some things in 3D Studio Max, mainly the Acura RSX. I got some blueprints now I just need to put the blueprints in 3D Studio Max and start modeling. Hopefully it'll come out okay. I'll post as I go along so you can critique me as I go, for those of you who model.

Thanks for your continued support of my shitty ass work. I really appreciate all the comments I've gotten over the years. Hopefully this new piece will be a new highlight for my work and I can continue on a path of greatness *cough* Sorry ... Is he really almost done!?

I've been diligently working on this Terragen piece for the past week or so trying to get everything looking perfectly. I've been away from Terragen for so long I forgot how to use the damn program and really have just been rediscovering a lot of stuff that I was used to. It's been an interesting journey remembering what does what.

What's after this crap!?

I've got another Terragen piece in mind after I get this one finished so once the final render (print & all) goes up, I'll start working on that. I've got the blueprints I need to work on the Acura RSX but I have yet to actually start working on it. It's not one of my high priorities so it's sitting on the backburner for now.

For the past couple of years, I've had [link] and I've tried a couple adventures with it. I setup a web design business, a terragen site, and now this horrid personal site. I really wanted to make it a Terragen site but there are so many out there already that it would be pointless for me to try and set it up and expect people to come back regularly. I was also thinking about starting up a web design business again.

If anyone has any ideas for what I could do with the site and/or would like to join in and help, please let me know. I always try and work on it but I never get in the mood to work on it all the time. Who knows ... It'll probably never amount to much but I like to use it for email

I'm hoping to have that picture finished up by this weekend so I can render and post and get another print of mine out there seeing as though I only have ONE I was also thinking about fixing up "End of Day" to get rid of those horrible texture lines and fix up a couple of other small things and then re-render and repost and put up a print as well. We'll see ...

Nearing completion

So I'm almost done with Our Island - Part Deux but I'm having a bit of trouble with some of the textures. I need to really rethink my overall positioning and stuff. The textures don't seem to fit perfectly and I'm trying to get a good surf going it just isn't working.

To ALL Terragen users: Need some help

I'm hoping a few of you who use Terragen will read this and can help me out a bit. I'm still having some trouble with these damn textures but it's something I haven't seen before. The problem that I'm having is that I'm rendering my picture at full quality and when I look at it when it's done, some of the slops and textures look like little boxes. It's almost like huge pixels of textures lol .. but it's not every where and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get RID of them. I'm rendering another test this morning (while I'm at work) with the view back a bit more so we'll see what happens there.

Any help you guys can offer would be appreciated. Also, I CAN'T GET THE SURF TO WORK!! Feh .. stupid foamy crap. It just doesn't look right .... God ... I wish I hadn't gone away from Terragen for so long. Now I'm so dumb

A very devious ID

I put up my newest ID a few days ago just to get some chuckles out of people. I saw the picture of the Campbell's soup label and had to make it. I'm actually trying to make something else for my ID so we'll see how it goes. I wish I was better at Photoshop. I'm having a REALLY hard time trying to make an effect where it looks like something is busting OUT of the picture (almost like a bullet hole where the page seems to rip outwards, toward you). We'll see how it goes; I'm not too concerned with it. I'm more concerned with the Terragen project.

A revelation ...
I've come to realize that I really don't have the greatest of stuff here. I used to be a semi-popular guy and I'm looking back wondering why. I really don't have anything that great and I wish I did. I'm REALLY trying to get back into the swing of things so I CAN put some good stuff up there but I look at my stuff in comparison to others and it's just horrible! lol ... Sorry for those reading this; I'm feeling sorry for myself now

I'm continuing to work on a piece that I'll title, Our Island - Part 2. If you remember "Our Island", I actually found the same terrain I used for it and took up a different position on the terrain.

Textures suck!

Having been away from Terragen for a long time and only coming back to it here and there within the past few years, I've really lost a lot of the knowledge I had. I'm starting again to see what I can come up with so don't laugh when it's not the greatest

I'm adding my texture layers from the ground up (underwater, shore & dirt, grass, more grass, rocks) and it seems to be working OK for now. The textures seem a bit off so I'm not sure.

I'm having a hard time remembering where I should put the bumpiness and depth and such to give it that REALISTIC look and feel to it. I changed the lighting a bit which seemed to help make it a bit more realistic but I can't seem to make it kinda-bright (so you can see what I want) without making the textures look like shit! Give me some help guys and tips ... I'll take whatever you wanna give Hopefully this will turn out to be a superb piece; we'll have to wait and see though.

A model in 3D!
A friend of mine recently gave me a copy of 3D Studio Max 7 to install so I'm going to try that out at some point. I got a bunch of blueprints for certain things (cars, tanks, planes) and I'm going to try my hand at modeling again. I'm more concerned with Terragen but I wanted to get into this too!


As those of you who watch me (and read this journal) will notice, I've become more active recently. I had gotten out of the swing of things just because of real life stuff but I'm working on a Terragen piece right now and I hope to have it out soon.

I know I really haven't been that active on here. I honestly don't even have any really good art; it all needs a ton of work and I just can't EVER seem to make it look right. I'm not really the greatest artisticly. I finally get fed up with working on something for a week without too much success and submit. I'll eventually learn all these damn Terragen programs. I liked it back in the day when I was more active and seemed (to me anyway) more popular. I know it's my own fault because I'm not active on here. I'd say I'm going to try and be more active but I don't want to jinx myself.

I'm ranting and raving and no one will read this shit hahah ... oh well. Someone will so ... thanks I'm not angry, just need to get more active in DA again like I used to. Active on the forums, active in art. I still comment on a semi-regular basis but I need more activity

We'll have to see how this next picture turns out. I haven't worked on any Terragen too much but I have worked on some Maya lately .... as well as some 3D Studio Max 6 and Lightwave 7. I'm not that great at it yet but I'm slowly trying to learn them as well ...

You're probably thinking I'm crazy for trying to learn all three of those at once as well as tackle photography ... Honestly I'm spacing myself but I'm trying to learn 3D modeling in 3D Studio Max 6 the most so far. I'm working on a model of a woman that I'll submit after I'm finished.

I'd love to get into more extensive and advanced modeling but that will be far in the future after much use. I haven't worked on any Terragen lately but I really should. I know I have a few pieces just sitting out there, unfinished.

Ehh ... I will get to it one of these days.

For now I'll probably submit some more photography and whatever else may come up so keep an eye out!!

The new piece is going to be like that, because its a valley scene but I'm trying to think of what I want to do with it right now so give me a bit to figure that out and get it uploaded. As you see, I've uploaded some new Terragen! YaY! Although, its not my best, I put it there because I want to know what people think I should do, so comments are appreciated.

The only reason I haven't been posting stuff a lot and on here more is because my internet provider is gay and sometimes it'll take 10 minutes to load the page and it'll load all fucked up with no graphics and shit .. its stupid

It seems to be working now, but not always.

I'm also moving at the end of May, so it'll probably be a bit of time before I can post anything during that time. Other than that though, enjoy the new Terragen and seriously expect to see more from me.

Well apparently people didn't really like the comic .. obviously I can't draw but the message to some obviously isn't clear. There is no message .. I'm not saying I'm for or against war, I'm not saying I hate people from Iraq or anything like that ..

Simply its stating things that are happening RIGHT NOW .. and if you don't like what's going on in the world, well that's something that I nor anyone but yourself can address.

Anything that is in the comic is something that has already happened in real life ... Not many people like realilty, but there's nothing I can do.

Even though people don't seem to be too positive about it, I will be doing the next one .. I have gotten some positive responses, so I'll continue with it ..

If you don't like the comic, you don't have to read it, I just simply sent out that note so people know about it.

I've kind of gotten out of the loop of DA for a while just to take care of more personal stuff but I have been working on some stuff in Terragen.

I'll probably submit something within the next week, hopefully anyway .. I don't know, we'll see.

Well, as you can see, I've been uploading new stuff. If you checked out my desktop, I'm working on a lot too. I also put a print of 'African Sun' and I have a print version of 'End of Day' rendering at home right now.

Merlin also has an excellent site design and we'll put putting that up at [link] very soon and get that up and running. It'll be great for all you Terragen users because you can get up to date news and downloads instead of having to search for it.

Waiting on the damn computer still .. it'll be here Monday .. so .. yeah. When that does get here, I may be off the internet for a bit while I get that set up and while I get a phone line hooked up downstairs.

Once that is set up, I'll be on all the time. My computer will stay on, so, I'll be on AIM and mIRC all the time so you can message me if you want to contact me.

When that FINALLY gets set up, and while I'm waiting for the phone to get hooked up downstairs where my computer will be, I'll be working on colouring in that picture that ~jazuk drew up, so, I swear I'll upload an update for it, and when its finished, it should look tight. I have some really good plans for it, so, we'll see what happens.

Finally I got a confirmation on my computer. It will be here by November 11th, so I really can't wait to get it. I've been waiting for what seems AGES!

Not much else is really going on .. ~halfliquid made me an avatar which is pretty tight, so I thought I'd show it off

A while ago I had a grading system, which to me, and many others, seemed somewhat harsh and people would depend on the 'grade' way too much, so I took it out. Instead, what I'm doing is using simple phrases at the bottom of each comment to tell you what I think of the piece. Here's a list of the ones I used and will use and a bit of an explanation behind it:

1. Keep it up
1.1 The piece is good, but honestly could use some more work. It has potential to be superb.

2. Keep up the good work
2.1 The piece is very well done, but could still use a bit more work. Good effort put into it.

3. Keep up the great work
3.1 The piece is looking very nice. A few details here and there that need work, but they still infringe on the piece.

4. Keep up the excellent work
4.1 The piece is awesome. Only very small things need work. Its so close to a fav you could probably poke it in the eye.

5. Kick ass work!
5.1 Reading this one you already know what I'll say here. Its fucking awesome. Nothing wrong with it at all. Definately a fav, no questions asked.

Notice the after each one. Its there so people don't take it the wrong way. Every piece is awesome in its own way, putting this at the bottom of every piece is just my way of subliminally telling you to work on it a bit more

Hopefully people don't take this wrong way ... its meant to help.

Well, I ordered my computer last night, so it should be here in about a week. I paid 516$ even. Here's what I got:

Microstar Ultra 2 motherboard

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8ghz processor with heatsink and fan.

Case with 300w power supply and case fan.

256mb DDR RAM (I already have 128mb)

120gb 5400 RPM hard drive (Didn't get a 7200rpm because the 5400 was cheaper)

56k modem

So, it'll be a very nice system, and I have all the other parts I need. I can't wait. I'll be upgrading my video card in a little while to a GeForce 4 Ti 4200, but not until I get some extra money.

Other than that, nothing much is going on.

Look for some new renders in the coming weeks and update on that picture that I've been colouring that was originally done by ~jazuk

Did you all remember to set your clocks back an hour? Doesn't really feel like I got to sleep in an extra hour .. but .. oh well .. who really cares anyway?

I'm sore as hell today, and tired too, from going out and playing paintball for about 6 or 7 hours. It was awesome though .. there was about 100 people or so playing, so 50 on each team. Running up hills though when you're out of shape is not a good thing, I'll tell you that much.

Other than that, nothing else is going on. Same old shit, just another day.

If you read my previous journal with a link to the Terragen website, you'll know that they're going to be updating Terragen with new features such as vegetation. Check the page out to see what they'll be doing.

I'm currently working on a Terragen piece now .. a sunset beach scene .. so be sure to look out for that to be uploaded. I'm not sure how long it'll be before its submitted because I'm trying to get the textures just right, but we'll see.

Other than that, nothing new is going on. I'll be ordering that ticket for my dog to get out here the week of November 4th, so, he'll probably be out here by November 7th or 8th. I'm really, really excited to get him out here. Its been almost a year since I've seen him. You can see a picture of him on the right side.

Rut roh Reorge .. looks like I skipped a day .. oh well .. heheh. I know I've been submitting now Terragen work .. I think its mainly because I want to get my new computer before I start working on more landscapes and stuff.

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU USE TERRAGEN!!!!

If you wander on over to [link] you will notice that soon they will be releasing updates to Terragen with added features such as vegetation, better texturing, water etc .. Go check out the site and you'll see what I mean.

Not much else is new around here .. just trying to keep myself busy. I've been practicing with my paintball gun. Shooting at soda bottles really gets your aim down pretty good. This way, in an arena, I can hit people much easier .. humans = much bigger target than a soda bottle.

Other than that .. I'm bored outta my freakin' mind .. I tried deviator 0.11 or whatever the latest version out is, but they're too many bugs with it, so I'm going to wait on that ..

So yeah .. I try and update this every day .. but I never really have anything interesting to say anymore lol ..

I am going to get my computer soon though .. It'll cost me about 510$ for a Microstar motherboard, an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8ghz processor with 80mm fan and heatsink, Case with 300w PS, 1 80mm case fan, 256mb PC2100 RAM chip (I already have RAM to use from my old computer), and an 80GB hard drive. I'll be upgrading my video card at some point, but my GeForce runs just fine as it is .. so .. no need to right this instant .. Its only 146$ for a GeForce 4 TI 4200 .. so .. it'll be a sweet system .. renders should go by a bit quicker

Anyway .. not much else going on .. Waiting for my dad to email me so I can order the ticket for my dog to get out here ... I can't wait

Yep .. its a boring journal entry .. and I'm about to just not have one b/c no one really reads it anyway lol

So .. some interesting news here ... People in Alaska have reported seeing a bird with a wingspan of about 14 feet. The only bird on record with a wingspan around that size is Stellar's Eagle, which has an estimated wingspan of about 8 feet, which is still freakin' huge. They have yet to get a picture of the bird, or see one close up to tell if its wingspan is really that big. Most likely its just Stellar's Eagle but with a larger wingspan .. Other than that coming up .. nothing interesting in daily news .. The world seems to be boring today I guess ..

Okay, so maybe updating my journal isn't something I want to do every day .. hell if I know .. I'm probably just saying this then tomorrow I'll update it again, watch .. fuckin' addictive site

As you all know, my dog will be out here soon ..

I'm also waiting for a bonus to come in and I'm going to upgrade my computer .. Oh yeah and I got a Tippman 98 Custom paintball gun today, so I'll be going out to do some paintball action soon (I haven't done it in forever)

As you can see, I'm really trying to expand my horizons with art work ... When my computer finally gets working, I'm going to be working on some 3D Studio Max stuff because I used to be into it a lot, so I'll have to get the hang of it again and create some kickass scenes ..

So far I'm working on learning, or have learned (partly at least) the following programs/skills: Terragen, Bryce, Lightwave, 3D Studio Max, Drawing Anime, PixelArt ..

Yes, I'm really going for a full extension ... I want to give people more to look at than just Terragen scenes ... and no I am NOT saying Terragen is boring ... I'm just saying, I want to see how far I can stretch my legs and what kind of stuff I can make ..

Oh well .. for now, I'm going to get some sleep being that it just turned Friday 35 minutes ago .. so .. enjoy the journal, though I doubt many people read it .. and have a good night.

Just got the new issue of PC Gamer, so I'm going to check that out and see what nifty demo's they've got on the CD .. muahahaha ..

I wish the media would stop making this sniper shit public .. its just making things worse .. they're so fucking stupid .. It really pisses me off .. I hope they find this guy sometime soon and he doesn't turn out like 'Zodiac' .. the sniper that killed a ton of people many years back and was never caught.

The government is the best in coming up with awesome names for people though ... get this one ... this dude is called .. 'The Sniper' ... They're so smart .. I know we waste all of our tax money on retards to think of stupid names to call people that do this stupid shit but .. they're so smart there

What will they come up with next? Some guy will blow himself up inside a building and they'll say .. "We don't know who he really is, but so far we've named him 'The Suicide Bomber'.."

Yet another tragedy in the world ... A bombing in Bali killed almost 190 people today Its sad how people always bring other, innocent people into a conflict. I hope to God they find out who is doing all this bullshit and do soemthing horrible .. perhaps a few crucifictions are in need?

Nothing much else is going on that I can see ... or that I want to see anyway.

The Sims Online should be coming out in November and I can't wait .. I want to run a porn bar and be the coolest dude in SimVille It should be fun as hell and I don't mind paying 10$ a month to play it either. Though, I'm really waiting for Everquest 2, and that'll take another freakin' year before its out .. oh well .. I still will wait and pay for that as well.

Other than that .. life is the same old shiznit everyday .. I'm waiting for my bonus and I will be getting a new motherboard, processor and RAM, so, I'll be online with my computer in the coming weeks ... oh yeah! My dog will be out here the week of November 4th .. I gotta call my parents so I can make sure they'll be at the damn house when the people come to pick him up ..

Anyway .. I'm bored ..... very bored ..

Yep .. I have figured out that I'll just have to replace my motherboard and cpu, so I'm going to get myself an Athlon XP 2200 and 256mb PC2700 RAM and put my extra 128mb memory stick in. When I can, I'll upgrade my video card, but when I get that, renders should go by much quicker

Still drawing some Anime, since I'm not working on colouring that picture in because I want to do it on my computer, so, I'll probably be submitting something soon, maybe .. not really sure. I got some good tips on it, but I'm disappointed as well. I have so many people that are watching me, yet around 7 to 10 people commented on them, if that .. I understand some people are busy but everyone else probably just skipped it ... Oh well ...

Nothing new really .. just bored as a mofo ..

Well as you noticed, I haven't really done much in a few days .. its because my fiance got a new computer and I went to hook it up and the motherboard is fucked up. I didn't want to rehook the older one just yet, so I said fuck it.

A buddy of mine had come over anyway, so we chilled for a while and he just stayed the night and we were chillin' all day .. so I didn't come on, but then I wanted to hear this new fuckin' song by Sean Paul and the radio people are assholes and were like "Yeah .. we'll play it" and never did .. Bastards

Nothing new at all here .. been working on some anime. I'll start commenting sometime today (its like 12:30, but when I'm at work at like 8am, I'll start commenting on some stuff).

And that damn sniper struck again .. its up to like 10 or 11 kills now .. Its fuckin' sick. I hope someone catches the bastard and they fry him ... Its people like him that make people afraid to walk outside or watch their back or shit like that .. Oh well .. we'll see what happens I guess ..
