Since moving into my new home and thinking of new ways to decorate my small but cosy space ... i was just wondering...

Do you collect any antiques or collectibles? How about old cameras?
What is the oldest item you own?
What is your most prized material possession?

I'm nosey...

In my country nothing is really old... i guess we are a relatively new country compared to somewhere like greece or egypt or china... where they have 1000s of years history, so 'old' things are 'cool' to me... So i don't own anything thats more than 100 years old, but i just put a 40 year old Kodak (probably worth about $20 now) on my living room shelf. I know it will get dusty, but it's a waste keeping it in the cupboard in its case all lonely.

First the deviations i was supposed to view were deleted... and when i logged in it showed i had 8 new ones to view (which seemed normal) then when i clicked to view.... the number went up to 100 again. WEIRD!

I'm heading off to Athens Greece in less than a month.
I know there has been talk about it and many dates and delays, but this couldn't be helped. I'm no millionaire!

Looks like I will be there for the next Devmeet. Where is Nikos hiding? He is not doing his job as the Greek DA ambassador.. he must have got the summer-bug

I was wondering if anyone knew anyone who has a small stall, shop, store in Athens selling gift, handicraft, art. Or how about setting up a stall with me in the market. Ok i know that sounds really weird. But hey, we are an art community... wouldn't you like to make some money off your art. Did i mention too that i am broke. Haha... big ideas and small pockets. Yeay!

Well, I'd love to hear any ideas.
I can't wait to start painting again. Will do once i am in my new home.

It's funny, i've visited most of the places that i was interested in.. i guess from now on i just want to visit places that are as far away from the 'tourist' route as possible. I want a taste of unique indigenous culture and landscapes... and FOOD! Or at least have a taste of the fast dying traditions.

1. Portugal... (my bloodline came from there... waaayyy back a few hundred years ago)

If you are.....

I'm looking for 'simple' compositions of a boat in the sea/ ocean. In color and daylight. Simple cause they will be used for my next series of smaller paintings. Approx 8" x 8". The water, sky, beach and other elements will be the focus too.. just thought having a boat somewhere might hold it all together. If you have any other ideas that represents summer fun that are pretty and basic send em over... just put em in scraps and post a link here.

I dont know how many i'll do but i'll start with one first. I know i could look for references but its cooler to know the history of the place and the photo too. Doncha think?

I'm still a non smoker since i quit cold turkey last sept. Thinking of quitting my nail biting, i almost killed myself from ingesting some acrylic a few weeks ago... and i guess having dogs around doesnt make it a healthy habit. Perhaps....

This year is all about NOT buying presents and giving the kids money... thats all they want now .. muh-ney!!! sadly. opening christmas gifts were soooo fun, sigh! If you could get gifts now.. what would be on your list? I wont be spending xmas with my boy but hey sometimes things work out in weird ways. I'll be cooking moussaka for about 80 people for xmas... we will also be having ham, turkey, pie, curries, salads, and other stuff too... what will your celebrations be dearies?

*looking for cheap greek classes in athens when i get there in July. Perhaps a short 4 - week course. If you know a place of a teacher who has a small group and a place vacant, give me a shout.

Thanks for all the comments, critiques and encouragement given to my new 'hobby'. As you know my past work has been photography and i've let my camera rest lately and have been bitten by the 'traditional art' bug.

Thanks especially to my volunteers who allow me to use their photos for practice. For my future subjects please just be warned i dont usually paint 'pretty' / 'neat' stuff. I'm self teaching myself and with the help of some experienced deviants on here.

In last poll most of you voted you preferred my photos to my paintings... oh well.. TOO BAD! You are just going to be subjected to more of the non preferred variety. I look forward to comments and critique!

I did do a few pieces the other time i said i was going to do some, but i 'm not fond of any, so it was a creative purge and thats over and done.

Hi there folks.
Haven't been uploading much work. I have been in a creative mood of sorts... Painted a few .. none i really like (as usual)... to save cost, i've just bought large paper (mahjong paper) in black and white.... and trying out some ink style stuff abstracts (without ink) Ok so its all weird... What its really about is that i'm messing the teeny room i have with more junk. Will i ever frame any of my work for keeps? I duno.... i know a bunch will be thrown away by the year end....
What can you do when you just need to create and all you come out with are ugly stuff and more junk... oh well.

Also i couldnt upload images of the paintings somehow cause the camera cant be detected by the computer... ok so all this sucks.

So what shall we do? I've decided to go ahead and create even more junk.. till the time i can figure out how to upload all the sheeit onto here. And have a personal DA exhibition. Love it hate it... at least its free junk to see right. I duno.. hopefully there is some kinda theme.. but so far the 3 i've done... dont look like they are from the sale artist. Hmm woe is me.

A year ago today was the first time i stepped onto Greek soil.
A lot has happened since then, i'm feeling sentimental.

I'm a fukkin lucky girl, the last 2 years have been super amazing, I've done so many things i dreamed about, i've met so many people and gosh... i feel so thankful right now. I know life can be tough but dammit i feel so completely lucky right now.

Did I forget to mention...
I met up with 4 deviants in Athens. All Greeks. All non-smokers. That's a miracle.
Of course i was the youngest there.... (not)

I must say if you havent experienced meeting fellow deviants or like minded photographers/ artists' you really should try it. Its fun to be around people who understand your need to 'create'. They don't wonder or stare at you when you just HAVE to stop and shoot a speck of dirt in the gutter. You can just .. be.

After almost 2 weeks in pireas... i'm finally going to athens today. need to checkout some areas near plaka... looks for some nice hidden foodie joints and quaint shops and the like. its blistering hot this week, but things need to be done. will take a short nap first.... hehe yeah i'm a lazy beast.
