Finally, we have good news. 20th Century Fox has been "pre-released" the first DVD packages, or something like that, of Horton Hears a Who, here in Mexico.

Here's the news: While watching a TV-Program Bar in "Canal Once" (Or "Eleven Channel" in Mexico) called "Once niños", the host presented a Live showcast from the "San Juan de Aragon" Zoo (at the north of Mexico City).

The 3 sections covered and showed awesome products of Horton Hears a Who and a modest but incredible merchandising of the movie: The Horton Plush (small size), Stickers and other stuff. But just one hard item freaks me out: A giant skateboard-thing featuring Horton and The Mayor... I just can't believe it... I'm more than amazed.

If you can't believe me, just search this: [link]
(It seems that the DVD is just at the corner. I can't wait) And, of course, search the program-bar "Once niños" or even some videos in... uhm, maybe not only in Youtube but that would help. I recommend the "Youtube Mexico" site, just add the ".mx" while typing... I think that work. Or try the TiVo or some mexican streaming site that uses the TiVo technology. Just remember, is the Eleven Channel ("Canal Once" by the Instituto Politecnico Nacional, for short and better reference).

Stay tuned for more news and, if the luck smiles me, some videos and info.

*OMG!!!
The last list is going to be released...
Coming soon.

PLUS: The song connector from HHaW to HHtE and another considered songs for the project.

--------------------------------------

EDIT: 04/July/2008

Well, people, this is the last package in the first part of the Project H. The project (uh, in fact, the second part of it) will be finished after the release of HHtE movie.

About that, I don't know the development of the plot, but I think that Blue Sky Studios is planning an excellent adaptation. Maybe a background story that involves the parents of Horton. Only the Studios know what to do. I just can't wait for the first trailer (even if is shorter than 20 seconds).

But enough Intro. This is the final block of proposals:

a) Little house - The Fray
Why? > This song "fits in the environment" due to the melody (representing a "bad plot") but not in the lyrics. It represents the scene of Kangaroo talking with Vlad and the first Vlad's attempt of destroy the Clover (including the scenes of Vlad's first persecution). Some parts of the song are in "evil mood" but, unfortunately, the lyric doesn't help the melody (that's the reason to "ignore" the lyrics).

b) Disarm - The Smashing Pumpkins
Why? > This good song cover all scenes of "The Mountain Chase" (from "Vlad's successful attempt of taking the Clover" to "Dropping Whoville in the Clover Field" scenes) and represents the desperate persecution of Horton at the mountain. The lyrics of the song only fits in some small parts but the melody is like a ramp of sound-crescendo, covering all of the desperate and some angry feelings.

c) How to disappear completely - Radiohead
Why? > If the movie had a very painful and desperately moment in the form of a "Clover field search" scene, this song covers perfectly. The line "This isn't happening. I'm not here... I'm not here", repeated again and again, shows how Horton picks up to 3 million of Clovers, one by one, with all the hope that could have inside him to found Whoville... and not found it after so many picks. Such a special song for a crucial part.

d) Fix you - Coldplay
Why? > At the border of the desperation-hopeless abyss, Horton doesn't give up and tries to find Whoville against all logic or reasons. This song covers 2 parts: The first is for the scenes of the piled-Clovers being dragged by the wind and how Horton sadly laments it (saying "NO! It's not fair!"). The second happens when, in the melody-change (when the electric-guitar starts), Horton sees the Clover of Whoville floating and, without doubts, takes it happily (while the song is focused in the "miracle" melody-part of the "rescue"). The melody song, then, fits completely that scenes (but the lyrics doesn't fit well) and remakes the miracle of found the Speck after Horton picks almost 3 million of identical clovers. This song also covers the movie parts of "Meet Whoville" (from the "How the habitants finally believes The Mayor's words" scenes to "The memory game" scenes", including all inductions between).

e) I'm not cool - Scott Krippayne
Why? > This song covers the personality and Characteristics of Ned, The Mayor. Both the lyrics and the melody. Maybe some parts of the lyrics doesn't fit, but are minimal. I found this song while listening some radio in the middle of the afternoon.

f) Smile like you mean it - The Killers
Why? > We know all about Jojo thanks to the film, but this song reflects the relationship between him and his father. The melody is special and fits well all father-son scenes (the lyrics, however, only fits some small parts). Is a song about talking and learning, the responsibility of the actions, all paths or destinies traced by others, and, the expectations of some person (maybe a family member) that involves some things or paths not accepted by ourselves.

------------------------------------

>>> EXTRAS: <<<

> Default song:
g) Can't fight this feeling anymore - REO Speedwagon
(The final scene in the movie).

> Bonus - The Song Connector (this song "connects" this movie and this "first part of the project" with the planned sequel, Horton Hatches the Egg):

h) I Am What I Am - Jonas Brothers
Why? > The lyric of this song and maybe the melody fits the personality and characteristics of Horton. Also, it covers the both adventures of taking the Speck of Whoville to a safe place, and, taking care of an egg "hatching it" against anything, everything and everyone.

------------------------------------

>>> BONUS CONTENT: <<<

Songs considered to be in this first release but doesn't make it because some reasons:

"Waiting for the night" - Depeche mode (The Observatory theme).
"Friends will be friends" - Queen (Horton-Morton-Ned friendship song).
"I'm Just A K...

Soon, the next package of the project is going to be released. But, the most important of this is: What do you think about all of this? Really, What's your point of view? Is a song that I'm just not seeing his connection with the movie? Or something? Comments please!!!!!
_____________________________

EDIT: 12-Jun-2008

Ladies and gentlemen, the Package 2 of the Project H is here!!!, with greatest choices and an important change (each package will now feature 6 songs instead of 5):

a) Somewhere In The Middle - Casting Crowns
Why? > This song is special because it represents the scenes when Whoville is dropped in the Clover field (only focused in Whoville, and, from the announce-of-the-Kite-Flying-day scene to the-greatest earthquake-ever scene), when Ned talks with Jojo in The Hall of Mayors and all the scenes when Ned talk with Sally (his wife). Again, thanks to the user blucille [link] for the inspiration and the song.

b) Viva la vida - Coldplay
Why? > This song "fits in the environment" due to the melody (is awesome) but not in the lyrics. It represents (mainly) the Clover field and the Observatory of Whoville (particularly the Jojo's "Synphonophone"). This song "shows" the greatest concept of life, the amazing dreams-inspiration-imagination things within all of us (and the characters, of course), and finally, the incredible places of the Jungle of Nool and the city of Whoville. Also, this song represents Horton due to the enormous hearth inside him (and, well, the fertile imagination and innocence of his soul)

c) Shiny happy people - R.E.M.
Why? > The song is a general view of the habitants of Whoville and covers the intro-description scene of Whoville (after Horton says "Hello!". That scene). The song, however, is neutral. It not details some people of Whoville: It details how his people live in the city.

d) Next exit - Interpol
Why? > This song covers the scene of Horton saying his greatest "Heeeelllllooooooooooo!!!!!" to the speck and how it arrives to Whoville. Also, this song will be cover some scenes of Horton in the final stages of his journey to Mnt. Nool (before the Angry moob arrives).

e) Everybody's changing - Keane
Why? > This song "fits in the environment" in both the melody (another awesome piece) and the lyrics (not all of them). This song represents The Mayor and his reaction of living in a speck of dust (the "first contact with Horton" scene), how Whoville would be destroyed and how he tries to save the town (the "visiting the lab of Dr. Larue" scene and "The incident with the Council while Vlad kidnapps the Clover of Whoville" scene). Also, it represents the changes of mentality, the adaptation to new ideas or environments (or truths in this case) and the consequences of some actions that changes our world.

f) Nine in the afternoon - Panic at the disco
Why? > Another song that covers some scenes at the end of the movie. This song only "fits in the environment" due to the melody. Is a celebration of happiness, of how we make friends, the imagination and creativity inside us, and, the amazing wonders and the incredible life of the world. The end of the song fits the final scene of the movie.

Well people, is all for today. I'm still waiting for comments or ideas. Come on! I will accept them!

See you soon.

Hi everybody! Now, after some and exhaustive research, finally I have some proposals for the project. Check first some "rules":

1. The project will be based on the course of the movie. However, some songs will be placed at the beginning (and I mean "before credits") & after the final scene, due to the fact that some songs doesn't have a place in the movie, BUT they have a place in its environment (like, um... the "Whoville description" or "living in a spec" songs, differently from the scenes "Into Whoville" or "Kangaroo's first confrontation with Horton" in the movie that correspond to their respective songs. See the difference?)

2. Only songs that "fits in the environment" or "must be included due to its relationship with (some movie scene or scenes)" will be part of the Project. The most important of this point, then, is the lyrics or the melody from the song (at least one of those items must be covered to include him in the compilation).

Now the proposals!!!

a) Who are you? - The Who
Why? > This song "fits in the environment" due to the melody, but not all of the lyrics. Even Horton "really want to know" if someone it's in the spec after listening a little scream from him.

b) Triumph of a heart - Bjork
Why? > Possibly the lyrics doesn't fit some scene in the movie, but the melody (made with voice-instruments) maybe fits the scene when, after Jojo saved Whoville with that "YOPP!", everybody sings "Can't fight this feeling". Another scene? Maybe... when Horton its helped by its neighbors of the Jungle of Nool "to carry Whoville" to the top of that Nool Mountain. What do you think?

c) Surely we can change - David Crowder
Why? > I found this song thanks to the user blucille [link] , and I believe, like blucille, that it fits the hypothetical (deleted) scene of Jojo in the Observatory while everybody in Whoville sleeps (just when it start to snow in the middle of summer, remember?). Then, without any doubt, this song "must be included due to its relationship with (the scene of Jojo AT the Observatory, NOT while going to that place)".

EDIT Adition: 27-05-08

d) The only one - The Cure
Why? > Actually, this song is a single from an unnamed album of this band, The Cure. Surprisingly, the song "fits in the environment" (in both requirements: the most of the lyrics and the entire melody) due to the relationship between Ned (The Mayor) and his wife (Sally) during the events of the movie. Particularly, the scene when Ned ask his wife about the "Hearing an elephant" situation, and, the scenes when he tells to all citizens of Whoville about the city's situation and how Horton has helped (and, according to the movie, nobody believes him except Sally).

e) Wish you where here - Pink Floyd
Why? > Possibly the best of this project, this song "must be included due to its relationship with (the scene of Jojo going to the Observatory when everyone sleeps, including the part of the encounter with his father while him performs an act of equilibrium with his pyramid of glasses with water)". I'm not secure about the lyrics, but the melody is really awesome. Someone knows another scene?

Comments? Ideas? Proposals? Welcomed! Just leave a message.
See you later folks!

Cool! I'm in da Club: Club Nool.

Now, I have some ideas for a compilation project. Codenamed "The Soundtrack H1", or "Project H" for short, it consist of certainly songs, without a specific quantity, that can be used in a HHaW non-official soundtrack (Remember "Surf's Up"? It's the same concept: songs specially selected that forms the soundtrack. Check the [link]).

The challenge, however, is to "build" the soundtrack. It takes not only the essence of the movie. This is a work-in-progress that will be ending after the release of Horton Hatches the Egg (HHtE. Confirmed in this [link] currently I'm in "searching source" mode). Only this half of the project will be "released" while the other part will remain in a long hiatus... well, I'm still thinking in a short and positive hiatus.

An important note here: This is a fan-project soundtrack. If you like or you can colaborate for free, leave a comment in the Journal. And in the first release (well, the "first-half" release), seriously, your name will be appearing in the credits.

Anyway, I accept suggestions (a lot of) and comments about this project. Stay tuned and with... a funny hat!

-------------------------

EDIT UPDATE (26-May-08):
Apparently, the film "Horton hatches the egg" is currently in Development (Source: Wikipedia entry of "Blue Sky studios"). Until confirmation, the movie is scheduled to release in 2010...

Proposed film-poster Quote:
"Hello? Anyone have seen Mayzie?"
