I did most of the cooking, my mum helped since my brother wouldn't get off his butt to do anything of importance. I think the only thing he did was get out four glasses and then pour orange juice into them. So naturally that left me with a little help from mum (who wasn't supposed to be doing anything). I cooked 36 sausages (my brother consumed like 12 by himself), different combinations of eggs (like ham and cheese, just w/ cheese or just w/ ham) hashbrowns and hot chocolate. Thankfully Erica was a dear and made blueberry muffins at her house.

Then I came home and washed my mum's car. While I was washing my mum's car my dog was let outside and then I thought she was just going to the bathroom and was let back inside. Came in, no dog. So went back out and saw no dog. Went out back and Pup was sunning herself! Not napping in the sun, but sunning herself as though she could get a tan or something. She was on a towel that had been spread out on the picnic table. Canada trip is in about a week. I'm so excited to be going and playing the weekend concert this year. I also get to spend the weekend with my cousin Kellie so I know that it will be lots of fun. The spring concert will be our most challenging yet because of all the difficult pieces we're playing.

I'm making various little sketches too and messing around with some pastels. I'm hoping to have the pastel piece finished by next week but I'm not sure if I'll be able to put it up before I head up to Canada. I've been working in the garden a lot. Getting rid of all the dead things and weeds so the flowers can grow. The tulips are lovely and I can't wait until I can get some new flowers in the ground!! I want to put in some daffodills and triliums. My neighbor is a landscaper artist and she has some extra plants for me when I'm ready to put them in the ground.

I'll try and take some pictures of some of the blooms when I get everything squared away. On Weds my dad was so pissed off that he called a few army bases. The army has Chinook helicopters, they could have loaded the damn things up with water and food, hovered over where there are pockets of people and dropped the stuff off. He called one base in Louisiana and left a message and another base in Georgia (I believe) that was about 230 mi away (which for a Chinook is about a 2 hour flight) and no one wanted to talk to him.

Even the National Guard have some Chinooks. Did anyone use them? Apparently not, according to media coverage. People started getting supplies on Friday! 5 days after the hurricane. There are going to be people who will need IVs to survive now instead of just bottles of water. WTF!?!

The Governor of Louisiana could have requested help from other states National Guard Units and those units could have flown in their Chinooks with supplies.

BTW... a Chinook is an transport helicopter. It has fold down seats to seat 50 people and equipment or can transport three full box suburbans with some spare room. Basically it can take a shit load to supplies.

We were right there after the sunami in Indonesia, we used Chinooks over there to drop supplies. But with our own people? Nope, apparently that just won't work for some fucking stupid reason.

I wanted to take a pic of my dog getting her bath because when she's all soaped up she has a greenish tinge to her (her shampoo is bright green!). And she looks way smaller than usual. Sadly the camera is with my parents, so I will have to wait until next time.
