as I suspected there's a significant difference between the images that have most faves in my gallery and those which people consider most suitable for exhibiting

it's hard for me to eliminate subjective elements and focus on the artistic merits and potential saleability of images

last year my wife and I moved to the new south wales central coast from the blue mountains . . . we're organising to hold out first exhibition in this area later this year, in a studio gallery adjacent to the gosford regional art gallery

I get quite a few print requests . . . when I put those images up as prints they almost never sell - consequently I normally ignore print requests . . . in recent weeks I've had a number of such requests and I've put them up as prints - probably a waste of time

I recently joined red bubble - and entered a competition there (details in my last journal entry)

I'm really pleased that my image of white peach 'vulnerable' cracked the top 10 out of 584 entries . . . by the look of it came in 3rd . . . I'm very happy with that, particularly as I'm not widely known on red bubble. . . the top entry scored 80 votes . . . before they stopped putting up progress numbers 'vulnerable' was on 67 and I saw it come through a couple of times after that so I figure it must have ended up on 70 plus . . . very pleasing!

I know of at least one case where someone must have accidentally pushed the print request button - she had no idea that she had done so

it was sooo good to do another shoot with my wonderful model peach :iconwhitepeach: . . . I had so many ideas! . . . but half an hour into a proposed two hour shoot it ended with a gush of blood from a dumb photographer's head, a dozen tissues bloodied beyond redemption, a scramble back over rocks holding sodden tissues to head oozing blood, strange strange looks from beachgoers, a call for an ambulance, five stitches in a mangled scalp, and all the while a mixture of grave concern and beautiful support from a sickly model who didn't particularly like the sight of so much blood

I've had my exhibition - a week in a small gallery in an arty part of the city - 40 framed prints and a bunch of unframed ones in a box

sold one unframed print

lots of really nice people - including heaps of DA people - lots of positive comments, constructive feedback - quite a few people taking business cards - several saying they might come back to purchase certain prints - a few people wanting to do shoots

tonight was the opening of my first solo exhibition at blankspace in surry hills - it was an excellent get-together, I got some very positive feedback but thus far no sales . . . so my prediction of sleeping in the park may eventuate
