]]> `andy261 http://andy261.deviantart.com/journal/25062198/ http://andy261.deviantart.com/journal/25062198/ Mon, 01 Jun 2009 01:35:28 PDT even though i'm just as busy as i am during the school year, i'm always happier during the summer. i'm taking classes, working a part-time internship, and working my part-time office job. overall, my main goals for this summer are to be my best academically and physically, which means studying hard and working out. and i've been lying out in the sun as much as possible, it's like nature's therapy. the only inconvenience i have right now is that i have 5 days in between my lease that just ended and my new lease for an apt that's MUCH closer to campus, so i'm crashing at a friend's and all my stuff/furniture is dispersed between two different apt's, a frat, and my car. i feel like such a hobo when i have to rummage through my jam-packed car to find things while parked on the street lol.

]]> `andy261 http://andy261.deviantart.com/journal/23173242/ http://andy261.deviantart.com/journal/23173242/ Fri, 13 Feb 2009 12:01:53 PST i heard back from haas (the school of business at berkeley) on wednesday and got accepted! it was such a relief because the admissions rate for berkeley students is around 50% for the undergrad business program and notoriously competitive (you apply as a sophomore and if you get in, the program starts junior year), plus i turned down early acceptance and a scholarship from the uw b-school (university of washington) when i was applying to colleges to pay out-of-state tuition at berkeley so my parents would have been pissed if i didn't get in. and it would've sucked because basically i would have wasted two years taking all the prereqs. so i'm officially a business administration & linguistics double major now, how exciting! it sucks though that visual studies, the department under which photography is offered, is not major-able or minor-able. but yeah life is going well, now i just need to catch up on all work i've put off doing.

i head back to berkeley this friday. i'm road-tripping down with a friend, which should be an adventure, and then i'm showing her around the bay area. and my photography class starts next week! (i'm also taking latin and stats.) i can feel that this is going to be a great summer.

and in a more general sense, thanks to the DA community and especially my watchers for all of your support over the years. i probably would have never pursued photography to where i am now if it wasn't for you guys. on that note, i'm really sorry i haven't been submitting any new work recently, i'm so caught up trying to do well in school while also working part-time, being active in several clubs on campus, going running almost every night, and finding time to hang out with friends. i haven't completely neglected photography though; i'm currently taking a writing course on the relationship between race and photography, and it's been really interesting and enlightening so far. well that's about all i have to say, so thanks again and take it easy.

so my laptop won't start up as of tuesday because of a trojan virus from the douches at [link] who are bold enough to have a website for a company that made a FUCKING VIRUS. of course its in a different language and google couldnt translate it. i tried many times to delete it manually or with the antivirus programs i already had but it kept reinstalling so i ran downloaded a newer version of the program, ran a scan, which deleted some files, and restarted and voila! it freezes while starting up everytime now. so i'm going to try to fix it with the help of a friend this weekend and if doesn't work, i have to lose all my data or bring it to a shop and pay $70-140 to recover what's left. and i had finals this week, making it extremely inconvenient to have to go to a friend's or the library to do any hw. if i meet someone from that company, i am actually going to kill that motherfucker.
