A Discovery

Polaroids and Holgaroids.
Unfortunately I don't think I have the money to get one. And the film is just so hard to come by nowadays.
I came across =rawimage and he has made some nifty photoshop actions that mimic the effect of Polaroids and Holgaroids.
I know, I know... it's not the same as shooting it yourself but when you don't have the means to get some, you resort to some really well created actions that will get just that.

I think I might be going through a retro phase...
So I would like to share with you some Polaroids and Holgaroids, some are the "real" ones, the others, like mine, are obtained through software.
Doesn't matter really, they look beautiful.

I'm leaving for a week of skiing and possibly pretty snow photos.

Yay! I'm gonna put to good use the software Francisco got me for panoramic photos. I think it's a bit late in the season to go skiing but oh well... Hopefully the pistes will be alright and it won't be just ice all around... --;

Hey everyone. I apologize for being away... Not really away but for more than a month I had no idea what to write on my journal.
Maybe now is the time.

University is taking its toll on me. I'm not happy with my course. Not anymore and it took me 3 years to realize this. I'm thinking about changing courses although I still want to be in the engineering industry, I'm actually contemplating changing to Electro-technical and Computer Engineering.

I had my birthday in March and it was very nice. Instead of going out, we stayed home, I organized a fondue and invited my friend over since my mother was working and it was amazing.

We had so much fun, and I ended up doing the dishes until 5.30 in the morning.

My friends were the sweetest things and even got me presents after I told them I didn't want anything.

Necklaces, bracelets, PSP games, clothes and candy.

I was supposed to go skiing next Saturday, but I found out I have some lab classes that week, so now I have to talk to my mom and see how she wants to do it. We both go and I miss classes. She goes, I stay. We both stay. I wish I could go, maybe I'll ask her if she can book me a plane ticket for Wednesday night or something like that. I could go skiing and then I would be back in time for the lessons (Thursday and Friday).

My boyfriend is in Mexico. ARGH! Jealousy! xD
It's so cold lately around here. We had two weeks of intense sun and heat and now we're back to winter clothing!

London was amazing!
Seriously amazing! xD
And Brighton was lovely as well.
I was so happy to see all my friends again.

Not many photos were taken as I slept around 2-3 hours per night. And then during the day the weather was shit. --;
But I took around 3 or 4 photos out of 239 that can be uploaded here. The other photos are just random photos of all us.

It's good to be back though.
Things are going pretty well I dare say. ^^
And I'm still on holidays until the 2nd of March! Yay!

On the plus side, Lisbon is getting beautiful, the days are lengthening again, and the sun! Oh my! The sun how I missed this light we have. I'll try to take my camera out for a walk on tuesday.

I am so awesome that I'm a possum!

My exams are almost almost over! Biochemistry, Numerical Analysis and Processes of Chemical Engineering are the ones that are left! 5th, 6th and 10th of February.
I am quite proud to announce I've been doing fairly alright. ^^
Then I will be on "holidays" until my classes start on the 2nd of March.
I will be going to London and Brighton with a friend of mine so we can visit our friends who are studying there.
They say it has been snowing so I really really hope that in two weeks time it'll still be snowing. I want more snow photos. ^^

My camera is arriving on friday! Yay!

Until then, during my "free" time I have been going through my gallery and have decided to delete some deviations. I might upload them later with changes. I think I can do better than what I used to do and they are really nice photos I took in Poland two years ago.

After my exams I will be featuring more people (I just won't do it now cuz I like to take my time going through their galleries and posting my favorites in here and that takes a lot of time). There are such good artists out there on dA who don't get the proper recognition and if I can at least "share them" with all my watchers, I will feel better. So if you have any suggestions, please comment and I will have a look at their galleries. ^^

Hey!

So I just got a subscription! Yay! ^^

I fell in love with this journal layout. It reminds me so much of the Cthulhu Mythos by the great H.P. Lovecraft. For those of you who don't know Cthulhu is a fictional giant creature, one of the Great Old Ones in H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. It is often cited for the extreme descriptions given of its appearance, size, and the abject terror that it invokes. Cthulhu is often referred to in science fiction and fantasy circles as a tongue-in-cheek shorthand for extreme horror or evil. ^^
Basically Cthulhu is a giant octopus/reptilian thing with tentacles in his mouth (much like Davy Jones) although he's huge and green.

My camera will be back next week! I can't hardly wait!

Since I'm a nice grand-daughter and my grandfather had asked for some photos of the dogs, I obliged and thought it would be nice. Wrong. Dead wrong.

I got one photo of one of them and then suddenly the other one jumps and grabs my camera. The bitch tore my lens from the camera (just try to imagine the damage...) and then started crunching the lens. She couldn't do much but the lens cracked.

My camera didn't seem to have much damage done to it (that I could see). I could transfer the photos I had there but the LCD screen was completely destroyed

Of course I cried. My grandfather took my camera and the lens to the shop and promised me he'll pay for it or buy me a new one. I am really fond of this camera.

So for the time being I'll be using my mom's camera.

I'm sad.

So my calculus exam went well. Yay!

And my friend Patrick is back from the States. I hadn't seen him in 2 years and yesterday we went to the OceanÃ¡rio and I fell in love with otters. Unlucky as I am, my battery ran out. My second battery was with my mother so yeah... I only got 127 shots of otters...

I really apologize for the amount of otter photos. But I think they're just too cute. :\

Plus I got my mom to pick me up from college (yeah I'm lazy) and we were supposed to go home and have lunch, but my mom decided to have lunch at the hospital and we sat at a table with her friends and it was boring.

Couldn't take any pictures because the weather is boring.

I also forgot my keys so when my mom dumped me in front of our house I went blank and cursed at everyone. Called my grandmother and waited about an hour for someone to bring me the keys, something my mom refused to do because as she put it she had a long day ahead of her and couldn't come back to let me in.
Then it started to rain and I had no coat.
By the time granny arrived with the keys I was soaking wet. My thermodynamics book was soaked and I looked like an abandoned puppy.

Still not all is lost.
Going out tonight with a friend to our usual coffee shop, which is good since I'm in a very relaxed mood.

But yeah, I guess this is it! ^^

Plus we also have a bunch of projects going on for MC (MatemÃ¡tica Computacional - basically numerical systems in C, Fortran and Matlab).

And there was a problem with our Algebra teacher, who is a $%&* when it comes to updating the web page. He said our test was on the 17th of November and today, alas, he apologizes stating it was his error and our test is on the 17th of October, next friday...

Oh well no more whining.

I was looking at my gallery and felt I had some crappy shots as of lately. I don't feel that way anymore after just a few of Jordan photos.

I really love the Fall season but I've been swamped with work, so I doubt I'll even have space on my bag to carry my camera around.

We'll see... I'm planning on having a relatively nice friday (apart from the Algebra thing) so maybe, maybe I'll take some decent shots!

Late night car drives to the nearest gas station in order to buy something to eat. Heaven.

Apart from all that, went to the states with my mom and then we had a little trip down to Mexico. I'm still organizing all the photos I took and chosing the ones I think should post. It's a lot of work and then I have people bunking at my house 24/7, something which is driving my mom crazy. But she deals with it if she doesn't have to cook. So I've been cooking loads.

Oh well I guess this is it. I shall be posting soon.
