        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Today marks a bit of a personal milestone for me.<br /><br />I entered and completed a duathlon.  3.5km walk, 20km cycle, 1.5km walk to finish.<br /><br />Thankfully it wasn't a 'racing' event, it was a 'get out and complete it' event, which made it much more fun and relaxed.<br /><br />After years of struggling with weight issues and doctors etc etc, I'm finally on the road to better health.<br /><br />Life is good. ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Had the past week away while our best friend's got married.  We went to Lake Rotoiti near Rotorua.  Beautiful spot, absolutely gorgeous.  So quiet and peaceful, the only sounds to be heard where the cicada's and the birds.  We lucked out with the weather, it was a bit drizzly for the few days before the wedding, but luckily it was a lovely sunny warm day.  They got married out on a jetty on the lake (special spot for them), and naturally the bride looked gorgeous.<br /><br />My only complaint is that I now feel like I need a holiday to recover from the holiday...<br /><br />And to top off a great week, I sold a print on another website (yay for profit), so some  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Up early this morning at 6am (well come on... it WAS a public holiday, that IS early), Inky and I set out to go get some sunrise shots up the peak, but sadly the grey skies, low cloud and fog put paid to that.<br /><br />Up the top of the peak we were actually up in the cloud and could barely see 2 feet ahead, so we were not likely to see a sunrise.<br /><br />So instead, we shot down to the beach in the hopes of a clear spot on the horizon, but alas that wasn't to be either.<br /><br />We did, however, have a lovely hot mocha coffee on the beachfront, whilst watching a lone seal playing around the rocks in front of us.  He was there for about an hour, dipping and diving, ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Christchurch was again hit today by another earthquake, 6.3 on the scale and only 5km deep.  Early reports indicate major damage across the city, with fatalities and building collapses.  It struck around 12.51pm, so unfortunately everyone was at work/schools so families are scattered and trying to locate each other in the chaos.<br /><br />The city was still recovering and rebuilding from a 7.1 earthquake on September 4, 2010.  This new earthquake, although measuring lower on the scale, was shallower and appears to have caused even more damage than the September quake.<br /><br />My heart goes out to everyone down there.  I can't even begin to imagine how terrif ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I was talking with :devreaper-x: today and he mentioned a program I hadn't heard of before for watermarking your images.  It's called icemark - a quick google search will locate it for you, and rather than putting a big ugly stamp all over your image, it actually embeds information into the image so that you can prove it's yours.  Now I heard about this, and was a little bit skeptical, because a lot of the time, these type of programs are hellishly expensive.  Not so with those one, $49.95 (US I'm assuming) and it's yours.  Personally I think that's an amazingly reasonable price for a little bit of protection and security.  I'll definitely be ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Those of you who have watched me for a while will know that my partner and I run an aerial photography business called Helipix, and we use radio controlled aircraft to take the photo's.<br /><br />Yesterday we spent the day in Wellington with the Civil Aviation Authority, and other interested parties, discussing some possible new laws/regulations to govern the use of UAV/UAS's (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles/Systems).  Currently there's really nothing in place to dictate what we can and can't do, so we're really excited about being involved in this process from the start and be able to have some input into it all.<br /><br />Just listening to some of the guys there an ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Bit of an update on things:<br /><br />I'm now a full-time employee at the juice factory (permanent staff, no longer temping).<br /><br />As some of you will know, I've been going to Zumba class 3 times a week, and I absolutely love it.  If you hate exercise and always find it a drag going to the gym or working out, then you should definitely give one of these classes a try.  It's a cardio dance workout, and honestly, it's a lot of fun.  You don't have to be co-ordinated, just give it a few go's and you'll get the hang of it.  It's seriously the best workout for getting your heart rate up and getting a sweat on.<br /><br />Little bit of self pimpage - I've set up an accou ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Thank you to everyone who left messages on my last journal.  I'm still coming to terms with the fact that Hayden is no longer with us.  He was such an awesome guy, very full of life and character.  The only real consolation in all of this is that he died doing exactly what he loved.  The messages of love and support flowing to the families through pages and comments on Facebook has blown me away - just to see how many people have been affected and saddened by the loss of three fantastic people has been overwhelming, and restored a little of my faith in humanity.<br /><br />In other news:<br /><br />http://news.deviantart.com/article/115796/  - a little news arti ]]></media:text>
