Nein, heute mal keine Recherche über Label und Artist und auch keine Worthülsen. Heute mal nur eine Empfehlung.

Auf dem mir völlig unbekannten Netlabel Pinkpube ist diese schöne Minimaltechno EP erschienen. Das Tempo ist großtenteils runtergeschraubt und schon nur die Namen sollte man sich auf der Zunge zergehen lassen: Pimp Doll, Digital Liquid, Between Two Worlds und Supadupawannabe. Die EP ist leider etwas sperrig abgemischt (sozusagen der Netaudio-Trademarksound), aber die Tracks an sich sind in wirklich hervorragender Qualität.

It was refreshing to hear love discussed so calculative, and I thought I would write about the best parts.

The professor discussed the selective advantages and disadvantages (the course was Evolutionary Biology) to love and how it has changed over species and time. Like many other emotions and sensations, love today is a balance between the most efficient and most effective way to improve oneself. If you love too much, you risk being vulnerable to predators or expending too much energy. If you don’t love enough, you face the consequences of less interaction among kin and group members.

Is that all there is to love? Is it not something bigger, or does it not – at least – include something more powerful?

Morality of Murder

As I’ve discussed on other occasions, I believe that true morality is selfish in that stimuli with a positive effect on oneself will be considered moral, while negative stimuli will be considered immoral and will be avoided. Thus, morality seems to be little more than an individual’s response system to the forces of natural and sexual selection.

The question here is why murder is considered immoral. I use the somewhat strong term because I am referring to an intentional and premeditated killing, one where the murderer has calculated the procession and product of the act. Returning to the connection between morality and selection/evolution, there are obviously many selective advantages to murder: it is the most effective form of eliminating competition. One would therefore expect that the trait would be encouraged and we would not have the current associations with murder.

The only disadvantage to murder is its high energy cost. Typically, animals utilize threat displays and avoid conflicts because of the potential damage that can occur. However, in many cases, murder is the only option and the typical “kill or be killed” mentality is adopted.

What was the turning point for humans? What aspect of humans caused murder to change from a necessary form of growth or advancement to an entirely immoral act, regardless of the context?

Geeint werden alle Releases durch eine warme, dezent melancholische Grundstimmung, mal mehr, mal weniger deutlich. In so fern sollte die neuste Veröffentlichung des Labels nicht überraschen.

Hinter dem charmanten Namen If:Then:Goto verbirgt sich nichts anderes als betörender Gitarren-Pop, vordergründig britisch schattiert, aber mit weitaus mehr Rückhand und Stil als alles was die Gallagher-Brüder je produziert haben. Verantwortlich für die "Another Syntax Error" EP zeichnet ein gewisser Paul Benham. ONE schweigt sich zu dessen weiterer Existenz aber aus und Google kennt nur Bergsteiger und esoterische Wunderheiler selbigen Namens. Die Frage, ob Paul tatsächlich Brite ist, bleibt also vorerst unbeantwortet, tut aber auch nichts zur Sache.

Als erstes dürfte die exzellente Produktion auffallen. Trotz des hohen Aufkommens an unterschiedlichen Instrumenten und Harmonien bleiben die Songs immer transparent, zentrales Element aber durchweg Paul's tolle Stimme. Diese kommt angenehm schwächelnd daher, nie aber weinerlich oder zu schräg; ich mache hier die genaue Schnittmenge von Stephen Malkmus und Chris Martin aus. Mit ausgefuchsten Harmoniegesängen und gewagten melodischen Phrasierungen verlässt Paul dann aber die Trampelpfade der Pop-Musik und lässt neben den genannten Indie-Größen nur noch einen Vergleich zu: Brian Wilson.

Auch auf instrumentaler Ebene wird einiges geboten: neben akustischer Gitarre, Schlagzeug und Bassgitarre erklingen tieffrequente Sägezahnbässe, Samples, Piano und Orgel, zudem gelingt es Paul immer wieder, die Songs mit kleinen Effekt-Gimmicks oder "found sounds" aufzulockern. Dadurch bekommt seine Musik eine unaufgeregte Postmodernität, die es eigentlich verbieten sollte, seine EP mit den Worten 'nothing tech, nothing too fancy - just good production' abzuspeisen, so wie es ONE tun.

Neben den fünf Originalen ist die EP um drei gute bis fantastische Remixe ergänzt. Die Bearbeitung von Rescue überführt das akustische Easy routiniert in einem trockenen Dub. Nicht schlecht, wirklich aufgewertet wird der Song aber in der Version von Bad Loop aus dem ONE-Künstlerkader. Ähnlich wie der Rupert-Remix auf der letzten Bobby Baby-EP wird hier schamlos dem 80s-Synthie-Pop gehuldigt. Das steht vor allem Paul's Stimme gut und bringt mich auf einen Vergleich mit den Pet Shop Boys, der mir vorher nicht eingefallen wäre. Toll! Der große Emil Klotzsch lässt die EP zu guter Letzt mit einer ambienten Space-Version von San Antonia schließen. Weit draußen.

An dieser Stelle auch ein Lob an Niroku Graphic, die ein tolles DIY-Artwork geschustert haben. Leider vergessen viele andere Netlabel zu häufig wie wichtig ein gutes Cover ist... ONE macht diesen Fehler nicht.

Последнии труды моего гения дописывают механнику балансировки макроэкономических систем, могу отметить что за основу взята книга Анциферова "Пути изучения города, как социального организма", очень трудно держать в голове показатели всего города, но от изменения одного - изменяются другие, как сбалансировать изменения показателей, т.е как упрвлять системой размером минимум с город - на это я и хочу ответить сам себе. Das Design-Buch "Surf - A Visual Exploration of Surfing" wurde durchweg vom Mutabor-Designer Steffen Mackert gestylt. Dabei besteht das Buch ausschließlich aus Illustrationen und wird von einen angenehm griffigen Umschlag aus einem gewebtem Textil eingefasst. Es wispert förmlich, nimm mich mit zum Strand und pack mich in deinen Rucksack.

Die Illustrationen bebildern hierbei die verschiedensten Aspekte des Surfings. Angefangen mit der Geschichte, über die verschiedenen Surfboards weiter über die Pflege bis hin zu den Auswüchsen und Einflüssen der Kultur auf Mode und Style, werden die textlichen Inhalte mit irgendwie fast immer humorvoll wirkenden Bildern untermalt.

Das Surfing seine Trends und Spuren im Design hinterlassen hat, zeigt das ein bisschen größere DIN A5-Buch deutlich. Darüber hinaus illustriert es den freudigen und kühnen Lebensstil, der mich grauen Stadtbewohner bei der Abenteuerlust packt und mir vor Augen führt, dass es noch ein anderes mögliches Leben da draußen gibt. Da draußen in der Sonne. Da draußen auf der Welle, die für waghalsige Menschen das Leben bedeutet.

Spätestens in dem Moment, in welchem das Buch einem die natürlichen Strömungen, die Surf-Vorbereitungen und Windverhältnisse erklärt, fängt man an zu surf-buch-5.gifträumen. In erster Linie natürlich von den braun-gebrannten Schönheiten, denen im Buch mit üppigen und herrlich geschwungenen Formen gehuldigt wird.

Im Endeffekt fasziniert mich jedoch am meisten, wie es Steffen Mackert schafft mit seinen Illustrationen - und das scheint hier das probate Mittel zur Visualisierung - den Schwung der Welle aufnimmt. Die rollt förmlich aus dem Buch heraus und schwappt über einen hinweg. Ein lässiges, exzellentes Design-Buch für visuelle Möchtegernsurfer, Newbies und wahre Wellenreiter.

Dabei werden die meisten Mixe oder Alben zwischendurch irgendwann einmal nervig, fangen an uninspiriert zu blubbern oder werden mit Beats und noisigen Geräuschen penetrant. "Natural Techno" gehört zu den liebevoll gestreichelten Ambient-Pflanzen.

Nach einer kleineren Auszeit ist er wieder zurück: unser DJ-Godfather of Netaudio-Mixing. Ich habe zwar keine Ahnung und Vorstellung, was "Natural Techno" ist, aber vielleicht bezeichnet Dirk Murschall aka [in]anace damit eine Art von technologisch erzeugter Musik, die sich friedvoll wie eine Pflanze entblättert, deren Blüten sich langsam entfalten und sich einfach wie Mutter Natur ausbreitet.

Klar, da steht ja auch: "This mix presents nature inspired electronic ambient music. For listening to insects and flowers, streams and drops, words and noises. " Ob nun aber, sämtliche Künstler genau das im Sinn hatten, ist fraglich, aber irgendwie so ziemlich egal. Fest steht nur, dass der Mix sich wunderbar für die dunklen und zurückgelehnten Stunden vor dem Bildschirm eignet und zum langsamen Abdriften in den Schlaf. Eine schöne Definition von Ambient. Ein Must-Download für die relaxten und sanftmütigen unter uns, für die chilligen Nachtschwärmer und auch für auf Grillen hörende Liebende. Gute Nacht...

Mein elitärer Musikgeschmack, ein Netaudio pro Quartal

Wenn ich morgens um halb 2 beschließe einen Artikel für Phlow zu verfassen, dann kann es sich nur um Begeisterung handeln. Wenn es um Netaudio geht, bin ich eher ein Genießer. Ich lade selten etwas runter und höre es dafür Monate- oder gar Jahrelang. Keine Podcasts, sorry mo., keine Gigabytes, nein, handverlesen und ausgesucht, so sind meine Netaudio-Dateien. So gibt es von mir auch kaum Reviews, außer vielleicht anonym bei sum1, doch bei sum1 kann wie der Name schon sagt ja irgendwer schreiben. Hier stehe ich mit meinem Namen für meinen elitären Musikgeschmack ein.

Sound um den Winter zu überstehen: Bangguru

Eine Schwäche von Netaudio ist die Zurückhaltung. Es gibt virtuose Ambient-Tracks die der Laie durchaus mit Störgeräuschen der Zivilisation verwechseln könnte. Dezente Sounds, minimalistische Klangschaften. Sie sind wunderschön, aber sie schläfern mich ein. Ich kann sie nur als Begleitmusik zum arbeiten hören. Bangguru ist da ein ganz anderes Kaliber. Bangguru rockt. Die Bang the Guru! EP kommt nicht umsonst mit Ausrufezeichen. Der Winter ist gerettet. Das Blut wallt. Die Beine neigen zu Zuckungen, doch die melodische Stimme der Sängerin streichelt etwa bei Time loser gleichzeitig die Seele. Nun, was soll ich sagen iD.EOLOGY war schon immer eins meiner 2 oder 3 Lieblings-Netlabels, zumindest eins derer an die ich mich erinnern konnte, wohl nicht nur wegen der 3D-Figuren.

Ich bin ein Time loser

Auch wenn ich in der Einleitung so sehr versucht habe Bangguru zu schubladisieren, es greift zu kurz. Der Indien-Verweis müsste spezifiziert werden, ich höre da Bhangra-Einflüsse. New Order höre ich bei Daball heraus, aber dieses Lied ist so experimentell, New Order ist höchstens ein Fetzen davon. Oder ist es eher KLF? Es ist stellenweise nicht ganz mein Stil. Aber what time is love? Ich bin aber auch ein Time loser und verliere mich mitten in der Nacht in Love never ends, wo ein Flüstern wie bei Ursula Rucker mich in Sicherheit wiegt untermalt von einem etwas nach Jean Michelle Jarre klingenden Beat wie in mein Vater in den 80er-Jahren liebte. Ähnlich antiquiert die Low-Fi Effekte bei dem Song. Dennoch klingen sie weder retro noch nach C64-Geklimper.

Ziemlich selbstverständlich steht das immer da: video by Bangguru. Bei den drei Clips die es bei iD zusätzlich anzusehen gibt. Klingt nach: Wir können Alles. Wir machen Alles selber. Ich frage mich: Wie schaffen das andere Leute? Haben die geerbt? Schlafen sie nie? Ich meine, ich schaffe es ja nicht mal tagsüber einen Artikel zu verfassen und jetzt haben sie mich auch noch um den Schlaf gebracht. Guten morgen! Verratet mir aber: Wie schafft Ihr es solch professionelle Arbeit sich nicht bezahlen zu lassen? Also Leute, ran an die warmen Semmeln. Sind gratis. Bang the Guru! Ich glaube that probably this Love never ends. Ich fasse es nicht, ich kann mir sogar einen relaxten House-Track wie Abc anhören, obwohl ich House nicht leiden kann. Wie viele Stile passen eigentlich auf eine EP? Wartet bis Ihr den Race Track hört. Da gehen mir nämlich die Vergleiche aus.
