For all your design needs (I hope).

So, where have I been for almost a year ? Simple. I've moved from my comfy home in New York to the sunny town of Winter Park, Florida, to obtain my associate's degree and bachelor's degrees in Digital Media and Entertainment Business , respectively. The, it's on to video game stuff. After all, my goal is to become a Game Designer.

There are many good things going on in my life. For once, I'm becoming a better artist. As far as school goes, I'm in a great place. I've taken a carreer path that will ultimately benefit me in the long run, as it will allow me to get the most out of my education and allow me to do just about anything I want with my life. I've made a lot of great friends here. I've been working on JetPack Justice EX again. Me and my cousin Bryan are starting up a full-fledged, full-blown webcomic in the upcoming month.

Lots of stuff to look forward to.

A couple people recently, for no reason at all, asked me who inspires me. The list goes on forever, but I'm going to try and explain who inspires me in every aspect of my creative life, starting with art.

Art
The reason I'm starting with art is because this is Deviantart. Anyway, here's my list of inspiration ;

Tetsuya Nomura
Nomura's clean, consise style, along with soft colors and smooth lines , makes him one of my top picks in the art area. But what really catches my eye about him is the way he designs characters. He takes a character from the mind of a storyteller and gives him an image , brings him to life. He's done it for every single Final Fantasy character you've ever seen from FFVII onward. He's responsible for Cloud's signature hairstyle and that giant sword he wields. He's responsible for Squall's fluffylined leather jacket and that scar across his eye. He's the one who made Tidus so pretty and designed that wild yellow , blue and red costume, along with all the insane jewelry. The list goes on and on.

Yoshitaka Amano
Notorious for designing the logos and drawing his own form of artwork for all the Final Fantasy games starting from the beginning on, Amano's signature style is known worldwide. But that's not all he does. He's a famous painter from Japan that has a style that absolutely no one can copy. His eye for detail and surreal composition is unmatched. An original Amano painting is worth upwards of eight thousand dollars, whether it's from the Final Fantasy universe or not.

Todd McFarlane
Creator of Spawn and well known for the dark and twisted things that come out of his head, Todd McFarlane constantly blows minds with the way he draws his characters. Whether it's the dark world of Spawn or the modern and urban Spider-Man, Macfarlane never disappoints...at least when it comes to his artwork. His video games ? That's another story....

Yoji Shinkawa
The name might not ring a bell, but this is the guy who brings the characters of Metal Gear Solid to life. He's the one who paints those unique pictures, the collages that you see on the covers of some of the games , and on websites, and as wallpapers. It's hard to even describe how he draws, but god damn it I love it.

There are plenty of other artists that amaze me. Walt Kelly, Jeff Smith, Monkey Punch , to name a few.

Deviantart Artists
Yes, some of you are on my list.

CHEEKS!
Let's face it. The second you saw Sean's artwork you were like 'holy crap'. His unique grasp on anatomy is what gets me every time. That and the way he colors. He's a crazy and unique individual, and god damn it if the world of art doesn't need a couple hundred of those right now.

Pio Canlas
HAH! I bet you're surprised to see your name on here, Pio. With his unique mangaish style of artwork , but more importantly, his STORIES, Pio never ceases to amaze me. I'm proud to be able to call him both a good friend AND a member of HyperActive Productions, because we'd be near to lost without him. ...And a cookie.

ukitakumuki
I don't even know what to say. This seventeen year old from Signapore can just...draw. That's it. Just attempting to describe why his work is inspiring makes my brain twist in seven different directions.

If I listed all the other deviantart members that inspire me, I'd be here all night. Suffice it to say, if you're on my watch list, you inspire me in some way.

Music

Nobuo Uematsu
If I need to compose a new piece of music for my games, I turn to Uematsu for inspiration. Just sitting and listening to a nice chunk of the Final Fantasy Piano Collections is enough to get my brain going for hours. He's written every Final Fantasy tune you have ever heard, ever. Every Final Fantasy tune that's been stuck in your head ? ALL HIM! Not only that, when he's not composing, he's out getting drunk. He is the coolest composer ever.

There's absolutely too many people to list. So I stop here for music.

[link]

Anyways, still jobless, but that should change soon enough. Looking forward to going to Fullsail.

Been looking around the site for awhile this morning, and DAMN there is some amazing talent around here. There are a couple sprite artists I want to talk to about a project me and Pio have been workin' on. I'm not expecting any of them to say yes, since I can't offer much in the way of money...

But anyways, Samurai Champloo is fantastic. Shichiro Watanbe's newest creation blew me out of the water with it's musical style and smooth, excellent animation. I suggest taking a look at it as soon as you can.

Also, I finally got my copy of Chains of Promathia, the FFXI expansion, so I'm looking forward to playing that.

Anyways, that's it. I think I'll e-mail/IM some people later about the whole sprite animating thing.

Updating for people who don't know that I have an LJ.

( [link] )

So yeah, I start Full Sail in January. I'm getting a degree in video game design, because , as my dream has been as far back as I can remember is to design video games. Hence HyperActive Productions.

Until January, I've got some things to do. I have to get my permit and driver's license , I need to get a god damned job as a bartender (yes, I can bartend , damn good I might add. Professional training and all) ... hopefully at T.G.I. Friday's. That would be fantastico.

However, I might be skipping college altogether. Shh, don't tell anyone I told you this, but I'm being considered for Capcom Production Studio 8's open position of Game Designer. I should know in the next few weeks if I got the job or not. Exciting ? Yes. I'm not holding my breath though, because c'mon, it's Capcom, and I don't have a degree in game design yet. Blah. Gotta cross fingers.

Anyway, that's it.

It made me think afterwards, though. I'm probably one of the biggest Spider-Man fans there is . I know that back before the movies came out, I was STILL one of the biggest Spidey fans there was. While I'm glad ol' webhead is getting the publicity, now it just looks like I'm following the mainstream when I throw on a Spider-Man t-shirt or whatnot. I hate looking like I'm just following the crowd, ya know ? VOICE YOUR OPINION ON SAID TOPIC ! Has this ever happened to you with anything ?

There's no such thing as PRO-WAR person.

There are people who understand that right now..the only way to go is war.

We WILL die if we don't take Saddam out now.

In five or so years, we would be nuked.

Iraq would still be a country of oppression.

I'm not against anti-war protestors (as long as they stay out of the streets and out of my way on the way to work)

Most 'pro-war' people are against people who are calling America tainted and evil.

We're only doing what we think is right, and seeing everyone bashing our OWN president - it's just sick. And it's wrong. People over there are fighting to give Iraqis the same right you abuse so horribly ; the right to freedom of speech.

I bet you when they become a democracy they're not going to be bashing thier president.

And hopefully, Saddam will be dead soon - so we don't have to worry about him pointing and laughing at us because we're 'losing the war' and 'we can't even stay together as a nation'.

'Pro war' people are not assholes. They're not pro-war. We need a new name for them. They're patriots. You should stick behind your country, unless we're using gas chambers to kill everyone on purpose. Stay with us, please. You say you are - but doesn't look like it from this angle.

It's sad how we can't even get along on our own soil..that people have to disagree for attention. It's as though they want us to die. And that I don't get.

People are so quick to point fingers. So quick to judge Bush as some insensitive bastard so they can get comments or favorites. So quick to assume Bush is doing this for the oil or to kill Iraqis because he thinks war is fun. It's just ... it's just not fair , and I can't understand it for the life of me.

I don't like the war, but we're there and there's nothing I can do about it- now I have to support my country and honor George Bush as the honorable president he is.
