Like the title said. And now I have a five-day weekend!

I might try to post one more thing, but that's not too realistic, since I've got a solo/ensemble contest on saturday, a play to practice for, a huge art project due in two weeks, an english presentation when I go back, and a 50,000-word novel I decided to write in January on a whim.

So, just a little busy. But hey, a five day weekend is great. And finals were less painful than I expected, except now I have a deep-seated, intense hatred of test essays (one took me two hours. two hours!).

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put up my big art project (it's for a different contest), but if I can I will. It's going to be pretty sick.
One more thing: If you've never heard of the Moomin series, I'd suggest checking out the books or the comics. I read the books as a kid, and now that I've started reading the comics I can see how genius the series is.

-EDIT-

Say it ain't so! We'll miss you Dennis, we really will.

Well, the Chinese exchange student has come and gone. Hosting him was actually a lot of fun, but a lot of work, too. Plus he didn't speak the greatest english ever, so there was a slight language barrier. He was really nice, though, and we did a lot of fun things while he was here. So a big shoutout to Andy if he's reading this.

Now that andy's gone, everything's kind of eerily normal. Which would actually make this the first time in five or six months that nothing weird is going on in my life. Besides school and an audition this wednesday, actually, i'm pretty much back into the routine.

Now, that's not to say that you should expect me to start putting stuff up more often now. I'll probably just use the free time to read up on traditional styles of drawing for Art class and some random sociology stuff that absolutely no one else is interested. Oh, and now I've decided to beat all of my old GBA games again, because I was feeling nostalgic the other day, so... yeah. That should be fun. In addition, I'm thinking about quitting my current job that pays nearly nothing to apply at a restaurant where one of my friends works.

So the peace and quiet I'm enjoying right now probably won't last long But hey, I would miss not having chaos in my life.

I can't promise anything, but I'll try to put up a few more pics in the next few weeks to stay in the habit and to reach my goal for the year.

Bleh, it's been a while. Sorry for not updating more often, but school has been sort of insane, what with all activities and hw and such. I have testing all next week, though, so hopefully I'll have enough free time after school to put up a few more pictures.

School has been pretty cool, except for all the work. I've got most of my friends in my classes, so it's been fun. Plus I'm getting an exchange student from China next week, which is really exciting

Like I said, all the work I've been getting has sort of kept me from putting up a lot of art, but now that I've gotten a few major projects done, I might actually be able to do some stuff.

Hopefully the next journal will be up in less than a month?

So, school is finally back in.

Tomorrow is the official start of the school year. Meaning I'll have to go to sleep and get up early, do homework. For 36 weeks.

Why must life be so cruel to me?!?!

But seriously, it should be all right. Even though I still don't have my schedule(), I know a lot of kids in my homeroom. Plus I got some pretty interesting classes like Chinese and Art Intro, which could be fun. So... I'm so-so in it. I guess I'll really have to see whether or not I have good teachers and my friends in my classes.

But this means I might be a little more irregular in my updates. Plus I have to perform with the marching band in the halftime show for the entire football season, so that takes a good chumk out of Fridays and Saturdays. But I'll try to get up at least one picture a week, even if it's not of the highest quality.

Not too much more going on right now, just trying to figure out what I'll need for the first day, reviewing all the math I forgot, etc.

100 Themes Challenge

Goals for the School Year:
Get all A's
Find some super-fun way to make money next summer
Get at least 30 more pics up on deviantART
Put a print up and sell at least one copy (not to myself )

Hey everyone, I'm finally back from my outing to the Upper Peninsula, which was amazing. The whole peninsula is only sparsely populated, and most of the land is natural and wild. My favorite part was probably visiting the grand sable dunes, which are hundreds of feet high and stretch on for miles. Most people only look at the first few dunes, so if you go into them a little you feel completely isolated. It was stunning stuff.

Well, besides that, not much is going on. This journal is just to remind people that I'm not dead, really. Classes start for me in a few days, and I still don't have my schedule Hopefully I'll get one last picture up before school starts, and from there I'm gonna wing it.

It would make sense that as soon as I get my drawing skills warmed up, it would be time for another vacation. But, that's how it works...

So yeah, I'm going to be gone on vacation for a week, and then school starts But hopefully I should still be able to sketch and flesh a few of my characters in my spare time. I've really been wanting to make some character sheets, so hopefully I can get those up before school starts.

In unrelated news, I'm completely confused about my schedule; for some reason, we're not getting them assigned until the first day of school, meaning that I won't know if I've got classes with my friends until the first day. It's almost as if the school administration is trying to make it harder for students... Ah well, them's the breaks.

See you in a week!

Well, since I'm tired of doing "serious" drawing for a while, I figured I'd try the 100 themes challenge.
Like the title said, I'm getting new floors on the first floor of my house all this month. Meaning that all of the heavy furniture has been moved into the garage, and now strangers invade my house every day bright and early and start banging loudly. Hooray.

The old floors were pretty ugly and dangerous (two words: huge splinters), but spending the entire summer moving stuff out of the house, then letting random people into your house to make noise, then moving everything back in isn't really fun.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the added bonus: The floor has to be coated with sealant or whatever, and this sealant can't be walked on for six or seven hours, which effectively traps me up in the second floor for a day. So, for the next week or so I'll be trapped upstairs with nothing to do. On the plus side, though, this gives me a chance to force myself to work on art with no excuses. Expect a few more pictures from me by Friday!

UPDATE 8/7/07

Happy birthday DeviantART!
I'm gonna try one of the contests of the 7 deadly sins and 7 holy virtues. Probably Fortitude(Anthro Art's virtue), because it's easier and more fun than Envy(Digital Art's sin).

Hookay, I'm finally back from two weeks of camping with my cousins. I'm exhausted from staying up until 2 am every night, and I stink from not having a shower for a week. Other than that, everything's good!

I got "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" on the same day I left for the campsite, and of course my relatives all believe that Harry=the Devil, so I had to endure their Harry-hating for a week, even though it only took me eight hours to read the actual book... And then I made the mistake of mentioning some references JK Rowling made to the Bible and the Chronicles of Narnia (I won't give any examples in case anyone reading hasn't finished the book yet), which was a mistake. So then I had to listen to their outrage as well as all their stale Harry-dissing humor. But all in all, the trip was fun. We went canoeing (my sister and I shared a canoe and fought the entire time), fishing (I caught... a piece of red gum), and riding these weird dangerous pedal go-cart things (I was the only person who didn't flip over. FINALLY AN ACCOMPLISHMENT). And that was all we did for four days!

Of course, now my DA site is looking pretty barren, since my schedule's been pretty busy since I opened the account. Now I have two weeks of free time, and then I'm off to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. And then when I get back, classes start... So I'll be making as much material as I can for the next two weeks. Stay tuned!

Until next update, adios

Yaaaaaaaaay, my first deviantart journal post ever! I've finally made the leap and started a deviantart account, so now the two people who ever look at this site can follow my life in depth!

I started this account because I have a ton of old sketches just lying around that I'd like to color, and now that its summer I figured I might as well put them on the internet. Right now I've only got one up, which is actually a drawing I gifted to my all-talented artist gf Alex (who seriously needs to get an account here because she is amazing!). I'm still trying to figure out all of the subtleties of coloring, and my lineart is pretty mediocre, but... it's all I've got.

Hopefully I should have another picture up within a week. It's also a gift of sorts to Alex, but this time with her lineart, so it should be much better :3. After that I'll probably go back to a few of my old fun sketches and color those, but first I might try to scrounge up enough money to buy a bigger WACOM tablet. Who knows? I've got all summer.

Until the next post, Auf Wiedersehen
