GAH!!! I'm getting really freaked out by all these alleged Deathly Hallows book leaks...people are posting pages from the book everywhere and I REFUSE to have this book spoiled for me!!

I'm getting my copy on the 21st. Sooo...I probably won't be online much at all until after I've read the book. Because I've already seen enough to let me know that things are just going to get worse with the days leading up to the release.

And you people posting spoilers everywhere....BOO...YOU SUCK!!! Okey dokey...see ya'll in a few days.

(Oh, and when I come back I'll have more polymer clay tips of the week...sorry I sorta dropped the ball on that one. I've been insanely busy lately. But I haven't forgot you guys!!)

Hey everyone! I've decided to start a new handy dandy little undertaking for beginners to polymer clay, to provide all of you with some (hopefully) helpful and informative tips when it comes to working with polymer clay.

I found this to be a nice compromise between making a tutorial and being completely useless.

I enjoy tutorials in the aspect that they teach others specific and enlightening techniques, yet I'd rather people try to use the tips/techniques from the tutorials to make something that is uniquely their own, rather than just following a tutorial to create the exact same thing. Which is why I'm just doing tips!

Anyways, each week I'm going to post another tip. Maybe two, maybe three at the most...I'm not sure yet. How long will this go on for? No idea, maybe until I run out of tips or I get tired of doing it.

If you have a suggestion for a tip, I'll consider it, but don't take offense if I ignore/choose not to do it...there are still many trade secrets that I'm not particularly willing to disclose at this time.

As I said these are mainly for beginners...but who knows I might be able to help some of the intermediate clayers out there as well. Some of them may be a bit lengthy and boring...because I like chat incessantly about clay...some of them will be, thankfully, short and to the point.

*Please note that these are all my own personal opinions from my own experiences, I am certainly not speaking for any polymer clay sculpter other than myself, and I'm sure many probably have their own opinions on the subjects.*

Polymer Clay Tips of the Week: 1

Tip - Be An Eskimo

Ok, well not literally. I could have just as easily called this tip "check your thermostat!". I am often seen sitting at my desk and sculpting away in a fluffy robe and thermal socks even in the middle of summer. Why? Because I can only work with my clay when the thermostat in my house reads 70 degrees or below. Preferably 68 is the best temperature for me to clay. Turning the thermostat down has been the catalyst of many an argument with the rest of my family who claim that our house is freezing, but I simply shout "I can't work like this! My clay is melting in my hands!!" and they shut up.

Seriously though...I've found that temperature has a profound effect on my sculpting. Even one or two degrees above my ideal claying temperature, and I can notice it right away because my clay becomes too soft and completely unmanageable. If you are a beginner who tried to make something for the first time and it was room temperature (around 72 degrees or more) don't be surprised if it turned into mush!!

Tip - Wax Paper = Friend

I'm a no mess no fuss kinda girl. I don't like to clean...so I use as much disposable type stuff as I can. I work at my desk, and simply cover my work space with a sheet or two of wax paper, secure it in place with a few pieces of tape. It's perfect for clay, and when you're done you just throw it away. No messy clean ups! Yey!

Tip - Go Fish!

You know what? Clay slicers are entirely overrated!! These are the ones I'm talking about: [link] Really, in my opinion they're awful, and double edged, therefore the only thing they're good at slicing is your fingers!

X-acto knives are perfect for cutting pieces of clay off to use...and for making simple cuts and slices. However for a bit of a more difficult slice, like a three layer cake for example...I use fishing line. Nothing cuts clay with the precision and sharpness of fishing line. Man...I've just about had it with this internet drama BS!! Seriously...some people are just so freaking rude I can't even believe it. These girls on the EGL community on LJ think that it's OK to steal someone's artwork, print it out, and use transfers to iron it onto their clothes. And when I make ONE comment about how it's wrong, immoral, and illegal I get attacked by like fifty freaking people. Seriously, I can't believe how mean and rude they all are. It's like polymer-clay said, it seems like some people have nothing better to do than to just spend time online bullying people around and stuff. It's sad and pathetic...and I might need to take a serious break from the internet for awhile because I'm sick of having to defend myself against such awful and rude immature people! UGH.

In other news...I'm really depressed. For alot of reasons. Not to mention that more people (and some of the same ignorant people who did it before) are stealing my designs again and not giving me credit for the original design. I haven't said anything to them, because I don't want to start any drama, but it's just really effing sad, and I think they're seriously pathetic. Is it SO HARD TO BE ORIGINAL!? I mean come on! *shakes head* ...I've become completely disenchanted with the whole internet community thing lately.

I'm way behind on orders, and I owe so much crap to so many people but at the moment I'm just TOO DEPRESSED to clay or sculpt anything. So sorry if I owe you something. You'll get it eventually...

It seems like nothing can go right for me at the moment. Seriously. NOTHING. I'm really effing close to just giving UP!!!!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for all your awesome sweet kind words, birthday wishes, and support! You guys are the best, really. I was pretty depressed because I have like...NO friends where I live now (really...none)...and my BEST friend who I love to death but lives 1,000 miles away was going to come and stay with me for a few days, then we were going to road trip down to stay with our other best friend (who is also his brother) for a few weeks, but things weren't planned well and fell through, and the timing just ended up being awful. So yeah, my birthday sucked. But at least my mom bought me six cupcakes. And YES...I ate them ALL! lol

Anyways...as you've probably noticed, I've added some new items from my new Lolita collection, and I've redesigned my website. I'd LOVE to get your guys thoughts on my new collection, especially from Lolitas...and also on my new website design. I'm always open to *constructive* criticism. ^_^

I've been sorta MIA lately...and I miss all you guys! I've just been really really busy, making 120 lollipops that all have to be perfect took awhile, plus I had lots of other stuff, and I'm redesigning my website. Hopefully things will lighten up in the next few days and I can get back to posting images of some of the cool new clay stuff I've been working on for awhile now. ^_^ I think any Lolitas out there will love my new website section!

Plus my birthday is in 7 days!!! YEY!! *hint hint* haha...and no...I'm certainly NOT telling you how old I will be.

I owe alot of people stuff as well. And I hope to get started on all of that asap. However, after reading

Alrighty, so the first guideline was that they had to be real chibis. Some of you submitted gorgeous entries...but they weren't "chibi" enough. Secondly, to help me better narrow down the entries, I had to be a nazi about how much it resembled me...mostly just hair (brown) and eye color (green).

So my Chibi contest is over!! You guys have honestly blown me away with your entries...I love each and everyone one of them so very much!

Now, this is the hard part...that I really hate haha. Choosing winners. If I had time, I'd make presents for every one of you...but let's be realistic.

Again...thanks to everyone for your support. It means the world to me...really. I do feel so much better just knowing that you guys are behind me and that you care.

Now I'm going to be very clear about this. From now on, my page is a drama free zone!! No more time wasted worrying about petty art thieves, I'm just going to do what I do best...and enjoy doing it!!!

I'm not going to hold any grudges against anyone (I don't think it's actually possible for me to hold a grudge against anyone for more than a few hours), so it's time to move on to bigger and better things! I really am excited about alot of new items I plan on making and sharing with you all. Hell, I might even make some tutorials, since it would seem that it's pointless to try to keep anything sacred XD. Would you guys like that? And what sort of tutorials would you be interested in?

Also I'll probably be getting back into artwork more. I've definitely strayed from my art...clay is so wonderfully distracting!

Anyways...I will start taking commissions for art and clay thingies, so just note me if you want something.

Hey guys! I just looked at my pageviews...wow...I can't believe I'm already at 7,000! Awesomeness. I'm going to offer a custom item to whoever gets my 10,000th page view!!

I've been sooo busy lately working on orders, and also doing some research and working on some awesome amazing new items that I can't wait to share with you all! But I think it will be a little while yet before I can do that. ^_^

My little jewelry business got some really exciting news today *fingers crossed* and if it happens I'll be more than thrilled! But I may not find out for a month yet...and I might just be dead from suspense by then! >_<

Honestly, I'm getting a teeny bit tired of seeing everyone jump on the clay cupcake/donut etc. bandwagon...so I'm taking some of my new items in a very different direction, as I hope to be able to share with you guys very soon! Plus, I need variety!! I'd go mad if ALL I did was make cupcakes.

Don't worry though...my cupcakes certainly aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Ooooo! I'm so excited I can't believe I'm already getting entries.

That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside hehe!! I wanted to add a little bit of info about me...just for chibi references.

*Nina loves ALL colors, but her favorite colors are black & white (together), and aquamarine/teal.

*She misses her shorter hair with the blonde streaks, but she also misses her really long hair! Nina wears her hair curly or straight, though usually straight.

**Nina has green eyes! And she loves them!!!

(though you probably can't tell they are green from my crummy photos

)

*She also loves fishnets, stripes, and playing dress up in all sorts of outfits. Nina also likes to cosplay Alice and FF characters. She loves cupcakes and all sweets, gothic stuff...especially gothic lolita costumes, and ALL of the Tim Burton movies.

*Nina loves nature, and can be a real girly girl or a complete tom boy. She is usually alone, and always lonely. Sometimes nina gets very depressed

...but cupcakes can usually help make her feel better! ^_^

Hokay, I guess that's enough for now.

Oh my...another contest!? Yes! That's right! *GASP!* Hehe. I realize that I haven't even announced the last three winners yet for my first contest, but I just want to get their prizes made and photographed so I can announce them properly like the first three.

And I'm too excited about this next contest, I can't wait to announce it...so I am!!!

If you are an artist who loves my jewelry but can't afford it, then this contest is perfect for you!!

So, here it is...I am falling in love with all these adorable chibis that everyone does. They are just precious! I never knew much about chibis before I joined Deviant Art. But now that I've seen them...I WANT ONE!!

The contest is easy...CHIBI ME. That's right. Make me into a chibi! You can use any medium that you want, and submit as many entries as you want.

Unlike my last contest, this one isn't about, how creative the IDEA is...but more so...how good the final image is. *I want to be able to buy a print of it.* So, this is more of an artistic contest. ^_^

Here are some guidelines for the type of chibi that will win, and just some things about me in general so that you can use your own creativity to put together the perfect CHIBI ME!!!

1. The chibi doesn't have to look exactly like me, but I would like it to resemble me as much as it can, or at least somewhat. There are plenty of photos of me in my gallery.

2. Some things I love (for clothing, background, accessory, poses, etc. ideas)
- cupcakes! (obviously)
- and all sweet things
- alice in wonderland
- candyland
- twisted wonderland
- any gothic stuff
- gothic lolita outfits
- anything done by tim burton
- cute AND sexy
- kingdom hearts
- cartoons, especially Disney characters
- xenosaga, especially T-elos
- I'm sure I'll add more here...

3. I would like the chibi to have a theme. I know chibis are usually all cute and smiley, but it doesn't necessarily have to be so. I love such emotions as happiness, joy, love, etc., but I also love, depression, loneliness, sadness, madness, insanity, and especially heartbreak/heartache, etc... so you have alot of options to choose from as far as the theme goes!

4, You can take a look at my faves to get a good idea of some things I really like.

Now the good part...what will the winners get?

I'm going to choose three winners, AND THIS TIME I MEAN IT!!! LOL...only THREE WINNERS!!

Alright guys...I'm having my first contest!!

This is your chance to make AND own a new item from Tiny Cravings Jewelry!

Here's the deal. I want you guys to submit a design to me, something that YOU have either...sketched, drawn, painted, baked...etc. If you submit photographs of baked items they MUST be of something YOU baked...no stealing!

Now here's the awesome part! I am going to pick my favorite THREE!! (hopefully I get that many submissions lol) and actually make the items FOR YOU and possibly add them to my Tiny Cravings Jewelry collection. ^_^

Here are the rules:
- no entry limit per person

- the design must be something that fits into my Tiny Cravings site, meaning, it must be a yummy sweet dessert type of item so that I can give it a yummy sweet dessert type of scent! And it doesn't have to be cute, it can be dark, bizarre, etc.

- the design must be completely your own unique creation of something that you would like to see made into jewelry
- the design must be for a *single* pendant charm style necklace

Most importantly...I want to see how creative you guys can get!!!

Hey guys!

So much time. So little to do. Wait. Strike that. Reverse it!

I've actually decided to halt production on my limited edition necklaces for the time being while I work on the new section of my website. That's right! I am going to be adding a new sub section to Tiny Cravings with lots of new items that I've been wanting to make for awhile.

There are so many aspects to my personality, and pink and cutesy cupakes are just one tiny aspect...and I hope that this new section will showcase a whole new side to my personality.

I'm really excited for it! I'll probably be drawing prototypes and mockups for items and uploading them as I go.
