The client was looking for something that was beyond the typical cookie-cutter retail center you see all along Richmond and other suburban areas. I did maybe 2 alternatives that were preceded by countless sketches done on my spare time. The dreaded phrase came upon in the last meeting with the client "I hate it". Words that hit my self esteem with a sledgehammer.

I came in this weekend and put in a full 8hr. day. Blasted the music on my comp and un-hooked the phone. Finally it came to me. A new design, fresh in style, high-end, minimal yet sophisticated. My feature deviation shows what can be done under severe pressure and a "Get rich or die tryin’" attitude.

My new goal is to get my Architectural Illustration Business started. First I will need a nifty Web Site. I had referred some clients to this page but I think they freak out when they see a bunch of smileys and smooches all over the page. I had a great BBQ welcoming party from my Houston friends (I'll be sure to post some pics in my scrap book) and started working on various projects almost immediately. Projects include:

-Mexican Restaurant Logo Design
-Mexican Restaurant Architectural Design
-A couple of architectural renderings
-Bar Design: Joya Bar

All this while on my job hunt which I hope will end in this one firm I've had my eye on for months. Life is good right now.

It will be nice to run into my old friends from college. After 10 years in Houston they pretty much became my family. These two years in El Salvador were great, but people tend to be a little introverted. Got me closer to my family thou, but its time to move on. This year has started extremely slow, it needs to speed up a bit so I can get back to my real home, Houston.

I think there was a global tendency for a good weekend after a couple of crappy ones. Saturday was the day for me. Went with my partner in crime..my brother as usual. Started out at a house party, kindda lame so moved to another houseparty, also lame. So we went to Alambiques, a 21-up bar, there the place was smashing.

I even bumped into the owner of the firm where I worked and told him that my inmediate boss was a jerk-off over a couple of drinks. We laughed and he told me he's been hearing the same complaints from other people. The jerk-off is the head of the Project Managers like me, everybody hates him, the good thing is that I'm smitn' with the director of architecture and now with the owner..even better. People's skills and Coronas are a good combo

My brother and I were getting our mac on with da ladies, some girl told me I was 20, if she only knew. Danced like fools, got their phone numbers and ended up stuffing our faces at Mickee D's. Sunday we watched the soccer game and slept off our hangovers. A good end to an endless crappy week.

In the end it’s a combination, you and the universe. Life gives you certain opportunities where it’s up to you what to make of them. Or you choose to ignore them and keep on a certain track (in this case they're more temptations than opportunities).

The thing is that right now I'm starting to realize that you have to stop for a while, sometimes the subway you're on is going so fast that you don't know where to get off. You need to get off wherever it is that you're at and look at a map. See what direction you want to take.

Some take it as wasting time but I think it’s a better than ending up at a place where you didn't want to be in the first place 30 years down the road. Then its too late, you can't turn back. Subways and life don't have a "reverse" gear.

I have a lot of thinking to do but at the same time don't want to think too much. I'm trying to make the heart and the mind make a compromise right now. Let’s see what happens

Tommorrow the president of the firm is having this big ass political rally to get us to go republican. Presidential elections are on the 21st of march and the communist party has the magority right now. Everything is on standby here. As soon as republicans win investments will start pouring in. If the communist win a lot of people are getting the f*** out of dodge.

On the other hand you have the angry kids that start nit-picking your work like: Your lines aren't straight (When its supposed to be a sketch), Your cars should be blue not red, Your...etc. And finally the guys you find flaming at other people in the "complaints" and "suggestion" forums.

I've learned to stay away from these forums, stick to more positive forums (Music, DevMeets,Help,Help with Life, etc.), just ignore the "nit-picker" and therefore I'm a much happier Deviant.
