Haven't journaled in a while, but we have been doing assessments and adding tutorials behind the scenes here.
`misskittyoooo and ^guruubii are having tablet function issues so we wont be able to redline like we used to but we are still able to provide well thought out critiques of your stuff even without the visual aids, so please don't let that deter you from requesting help.

We'd like to ask for some tutorial suggestions to add to our list and also for you to post your tutorials here if you have made some.
We especially would like some tutorial focusing on the fundamentals.
I'd like to do a little session on helping new artists get a correct foothold as artists.
Too often new artists look for easy fixes or programs, when they should be starting off properly by drawing from life.
It's much harder to create a unique style when you copy others art all the time, it's fine to take some inspiration and to have your work influenced by other styles, but the artist should have a competent grasp of the fundamentals first. Otherwise they get stuck making mistakes over and over that are hard to fix and identify.
So if you guys could help us locate some basic art fundamental tutorials of no specific style (IE, no how to draw a manga head, or Disney faces), that would really help us out.

Alright, We have a couple new members now and I think it's time to offer some new tips. I also have a challenge to put forth in the spirit of improvement.
Thats why we are all here correct?

First of all, I'd like to put some tips up for you if you are trying to get some practice.
Many of you don't feel confident enough to do commissions, but having other people tell you what to draw and how to draw it is a very good learning tool, and it helps you accept critiques better. It can also prepare you for a professional art life.

That 10 free sketch journal that gets passed around DeviantART. I'd like to suggest that you all try it out!
Here's the thing though. Sont do it just to get them done, challenge yourself. Try and make sure you have backgrounds on each (it helps learn to make your characters part of their environment) even if its not detailed, try and use a completely different pose/ scene for each sketch. Make sure they all look different.

Stock Photos are not just for Photo manipulators you know? Have a look through the stock galleries here on DA and use them as pose references. Referencing a pose is a good thing, though you may have heard crap about people calling it copying, it's not true. If thats copying then so is drawing from life and thats just ridiculous.
