It's now the end of my first year of Tafe, and as I look back at how much I have achieved and improved, I can't help but feel slightly proud of myself. Clinton and I have now come to respect each other's artwork, quite a contrast to our shenanigans in 2006. I've made some fabulous new friends and i'm very happy with the way things are going. Hopefully I will get a proper job next year and earn a bit of money.

I hope you all have a great Christmas and new year! Thanks to everyone who has given me support and helped me to get to where I am now

I'm not gonna submit photos as i'm trying to keep up my image as a designer instead of a photographer. Instead, I just began a photography based account for the photos I am proud of so check that out if you're interested My only exception for photo submissions so far is my photo "I does be a cheetah" (feat. dev)

This is the photo that i'm using as my entry to the animals theme competition. I'm really proud of the photo and if you like it, please take a minute to vote for me in the TassieRocks poll! I would really appreciate it!

I'm working on some new stuff, I spent all weekend working on a self portrait in Corel Painter Essentials but its difficult because for some reason it wont let me save the file as a psd. I'm also thinking about getting a credit card so that I can make my drinks tally t-shirt into an actual t-shirt that I can sell over deviant art or other websites.. Hopefully i'll make some more t-shirt graphics soon

Okay so we finally submitted the invitations today! I was a bit rushed at the end of the day trying to get mine to look right (Robin wanted me to change the web page interface, thanks Robin ) but its all done and finished now. Everyone came up with some really good ideas and it will be interesting to see what Penne has to say about it all.

Ive now completed 27 seconds of my motion graphic, although its not all finished. Hopefully i'll find some time to work on that tomorrow before I head back to work for the rest of the week...

We got a new brief today, which I really like. We have to re-design the layout of a basic contact form. I think this will be good because we all have to think about the practicability of our layouts, and we also get to be a bit arty I think.

We had Penne come in and check out our invitation mock ups on Wednesday. She didn't give us alot of feedback on our individual ideas, I think she likes everyones. I presented some of my funky ideas, i'll submit them into my gallery soon.

We have to show them next wednesday so i'm hoping i'll have them done by then! I got a new idea on Wednesday, which was make the invitation in the layout of a webpage, with the buttons and drop down menus displaying the information, with the Tafe logo and a photo at the top. I'll submit the image as soon as i've done it

I still havent really stared my motion graphics though, because flash never does what i want it to, and I still dont have any photos to work with. We're getting some stock photos today so i'll be able to fiddle round with them during the week.

Wednesday was my birthday, and it was also the most productive day of the week for Tafe work. On thursday I got sick with some tiredness thing and today im still not great. Its a bummer coz I was planning on going out drinking for my birthday tonight and now i'm not sure if i'm up to it

So Robin gave me a few ideas for my motion graphic today. I'm leaning towards a collage type look, maybe some textures, shapes, photos and text, fading in and out and moving around. I'm reluctant to start making the graphic yet though, because I have no stock photography yet to work with. I also have some ideas for the invitation, the main one being a die-cut person and die-cut laptop, connected with string, representing the idea of "being connected" to the internet and resources in the learning centre. I'm going to make some mock-ups as soon as i get some photos.

At the mo we have a number of briefs running.. the main ones being creating a motion graphic for the opening of the learning centre at tafe hobart, and creating an invite for the same event. So far I am struggling to get ideas for the motion graphic.. I've sketched some ideas in my visual diary but nothing much. I think I need photos to get me inspired!! Might go take some once I get my new digital camera (only one more week! Yay!) As for the invitation, I have a couple of ideas. I've sketched them up, and i'm planning to make some mock-ups once I take some photos Take care everyone, i'll update my journal next week! xox

Here are my 6 weird habits/things about myself:

1/ I love rollercoasters. I have an obsession with them, and the fact that there are none where I live drives me nuts.

2/ I hate it when people crack their knuckles. It is the most discusting thing and it sends a shiver down my spine!

3/ I like arguing with my grandma, its funny I wont explain.

4/ I also love being alone. I love being with friends, but I need some alone time in the day to keep me sane.

5/ Im not really good at anything in particular... I love art, but im no good at it

6/ I hate exercise. And it sucks coz i dont have the best metabolism... I envy the people who have great bodies and don't need to exercise for them!!!
