I have been doing a lot of drawing studies lately and I will be starting gestures soon. Expect to see a lot of contours in my scraps folder soon.
Well as you may know, I have started college and am taking a few classes. I got a job working at college also, woot! It's so awesome because sometimes I get paid to do ... well, nothing, if I so choose. But I can draw, knit, or read - or talk if I want to, and get paid for it. Provided there is nothing else to do.

My drawing class is going great! My professor rocks! And I talk to him after almost every class. He has a lot of really good advice for an aspiring professional artist like myself. He's also just a cool person too.

I'm now following a free online animation course which was put together by John Kricfalusi (creator of Ren and Stimpy - which I don't like much, but he's a great teacher and animator). It's called the $100,000 Animation Course.

[link]

I've posted my practice here for the time being. Eventually it will get moved to scraps and better newer stuff will replace it. Yeay.

And on a different note, I am getting more into the art scene here. I am the treasure of the Student Art Association at school, and I have now been to one of the premier galleries here.

I went to their second gallery grand opening last night. I have to say, I wasn't expecting that much horse hockey there. Man. There was a lot of crapola there. And I looked up this "Ray Smith" that was the juror for the exhibit. Man, IMHO, his artwork is not appealing.

Anyhoo, it's good to be drawing more again. I just wish I felt comfortable enough to draw my own stuff from memory... or just draw my own ideas. I just feel that at the moment, I don't have the skill to really execute much. I get so frustrated when I try to draw some idea I have. So, ON WITH THE PRACTICE!

His house caught fire, his mom has terminal cancer, his bro went to the hospital and his mother was accused of the cause (so gov took kids away from her), and his wife had her whole purse and identity (possibly due to what was in the purse) stolen.

I do not have a legitimate job at the moment, otherwise, I would get a commission from him. However, I hope that someone out there reading this empathizes with my friend and likes his artwork enough to commission him to draw something for you. His prices are so reasonable for his talent too.
Even though I am not taking animation classes yet, I am getting myself pumped about it again. I am really trying to immerse myself in art. The biggest problem I have is this computer. Well,... it's more me than the computer. I have an addiction to research. Anything that pops into my head and boom I am at it for hours.

But now, I am happy at least. I applied 3 places for a job. I hope someone calls me back soon. I will keep looking in the meanwhile. I might be applying to three more places soon. 1 for sure (A gardening place)

So, wow. This feels right. This feels nice. I don't know why I never did this sooner! Silly younger me! I should've bit the bullet and taken art classes in high school. Maybe. Haha. I teach myself a lot with books, so maybe I would still be at the same level.

Ok, and one big thing - if anyone's out there reading this, you need to check out Cereal and Pajamas! I haven't been able to order this yet, but it looks like an awesome comic. It's a collaboration of great artists.

[link]

It's by some,... I want to say... "mentors" of mine. Some of the guys run a website called Sketch Tavern

[link]

It has a forum, but it's currently undergoing tech difficulties. And the forum is awesome when it's up. The people there are extremely helpful in all kinds of critique. No sugar coating. My kind of people.

So please, go, take a look, and scrape change to order their book. The haven't sold their quota yet to cover printing costs, so I am helping to spread the word. If I had a job right now, I'd jump on it! (Which I am trying to do).

I'd been lured back into the realm that is knitting. I am really going to try to push myself to draw more often now. I was drawing everyday on the computer for a while, but I really just need to draw a lot more generally speaking. I havent drawn anything really substantial for a while. Thus, no submissions. There are more of my drawings on sketchtavern.com/forum in the February Challenge section.

I will be looking into financial aid for college soon.

Wow! I'm at 5,000! Awesome. I wondered when that would happen. It's inevitable for anyone here who continually enters artwork. I suppose I shall upload something special for this momentous occassion. Suggestions?

And don't you worry. I have been drawing. I'm just lazy to upload them here. I've been sketching everyday and on real paper. It's easier to upload stuff when it's already digital and looks clean and on white paper. I'll have to mess with the contrast on my sketches, but I suppose I can upload a "sketchdump" like many deviants like to say here.

I am open for commissions more info here: [link]

I haven't gotten any bites yet, so I am hoping someone somewhere wants a commission from me! I really need the money for college. I'm saving every bit that I can so that I can start soon.

I can do portraits, sketches, pin ups, and cartoons. The things I am not the greatest at will be the cheapest (pinups and cartoons). Portraits being the "expensive" one.

Price varies by every peice of artwork, but what I can give here is a general price range.

The price range is as follows (all in US currency, shipping not included, except for posters)

Sketches: Anywhere from 5 up to 15 dollars
Cartoons: Anywhere from 10 on up (depending on how finished it is and the format*)
Pin ups: 10 on up (depending on how finished it is and the format*)
Portraits: This one is really vast in how much it can end up costing due to materials, time, and size. I will venture to say anywhere from 15 on up to around 100 (these are base prices!) 15 would be for about a 5x7, and 150 would be a charcoal poster with one figure. If you wanted bigger (like the Dane Cook drawing), I'd have to up the price considerably.

And I require a portion of the pay up front (probably about one-third to half the price of the full amount) in case you can't pay up in the end, so that I still get credit for some of the work. If this is the case, you won't receive the art, but you'll see it online.

Shipping would be handled on case by case basis.

I am open to suggestions for future artwork as well, as I need the practice.

I am also considering drawing some portraits for my benefit and selling them, or selling prints.

Also, I am low on cash flow, and I know I am not the greatest artist, but for a low price, I can sketch somethin' for ya. I need money for college.

And there's more books on the way! I am addicted to buying reference materials. I bought Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair and Acting for Animators by Ed Hooks. Soon I will end up getting a pegbar and some animation paper. I don't know how i'll ever upload anything because I won't have a program to do so, but it'll be fun playin' around anyway. My boyfriend made me a huge light table. Fun stuff.

As of now, all my money is being spent on food and valentine's day. I might have some to spare, but we are also trying to save for a Wii.

Well, I've done it! I've purchased The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams (Roger Rabbit) and The Illusion of Life by Frank and Ollie (Disney Animators). I am SO excited. I've heard awesome things about both books. They seem to be the "bibles" of animation. And since I am beginning this journey being self taught, I decided I should get the best.

I also have a list of art books in line to be bought (I am a complete hound for books - particularly good reference books) They are:

Cartoon Animation (The Collector's Series)

Acting for Animators, Revised Edition: A Complete Guide to Performance Animation

Animation: From Script to Screen

Timing for Animation

Dynamic Wrinkles and Drapery: Solutions for Drawing the Clothed Figure

Perspective for Artists

Creative Perspective for Artists and Illustrators

Anatomy, Perspective and Composition for the Artist

How to Draw Animals by Jack Hamm

Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist by Chuck Jones

Learn to Draw Caricatures

Draw the Looney Tunes

Tex Avery: The Mgm Years, 1942-1955 I passed this book up a long time ago at a local second hand bookstore, and I am so annoyed with myself for doing that. It's out of print and it is a great book on one of my favorite artists ever.

Forgive me for not adding who wrote every book in my list. You'll find them all on amazon.com if you look under the title.

I am also thinking about getting a pegbar and some acme animation paper just for shits and giggles.

I can't decide what to get next!

Well, I think I'm really deciding that I want to be an animator now. I've longed to draw like so many of these animators for so long that I believe if I want to do it, I can't learn by teaching myself alone, so I will have to go to school for it eventually. Of course, in the mean time I'll still be trying to improve on my cartooning, trying my hand at crappy animation, and also continuing with my portrait drawing which has been on hiatus for quite some time. I sketched Bettie Page, but that ruined my cutting mat (for sewing), so I got pissed and left it alone.

Well, being that it's that time of year, Happy New Year to everyone! And please, BE RESPONSIBLE! Please! There's so much crap that goes on during the festivities, such as unnecessary overinduldence in alcoholic consumption, fireworks in closed spaces, and loud noise way past bedtime.

Please be considerate of the elderly that may be lurking, as well as the kids who are not fortunate enough to stay up til the wee hours of the morn'.

I will probably be drinkin' eggnog with the family and thinking too much about my future with art, so have fun doing whatever u may do!

I've been thinking about life. I have wondered what I want to do with mine. I went to school for massage therapy and came out not wanting to do that. But it wasn't really my money (though and inheritance that could have been spent differently), so I feel obligated to do something with my knowledge and at least finish what I started by getting my license.

Other than that I haven't known what to do, and I am feeling better now because now I really think I'm onto something. It might seem obvious here. I want to go to school for art. I used to want to become a sound engineer or a seamstress (I love sewing as a hobby), but now the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to go to school for it.

The more I see so many amazing artists (mostly of the cartoon/animated persuasion), the more I see that they have gone to school for it. I see my potential, but I don't live up to it yet. I know it will mean a lot more work, but now I am thinking that I would enjoy it. I don't intend on being the bread winner in the family, but I do intend on making a little money.

The next step is researching grants, getting a job, filling out my MTA application and a getting vehicle (or at least getting the one I have into my name). Aside from that, I need to dance and rollerblade again.

I was REALLY bummed out about everything before, and now it seems like my life may be making sense again. Thank goodness.

Oh ya, I edited my gallery and put a lot of stuff in my scraps. I want my gallery to "shine" so to speak, so I'm putting all the ones I'm not completely happy with in my scraps. And some of them - like the cartoony ones, I am thinking of vectorizing.

I have to write the first ten words that come to mind when I think of the letter G.

1. Glasses - all the retro ones I love, and my boyfriend wears some nice ones.
2. Grin - I love to do this
3. Giggle - I love the sound of a baby's little giggle, and I happen to do this a lot (but not like a baby)
4. Gaggle - I can't believe that is actually a word for a group of geese or people.
5. Glamour - I love to feel glamourous, and I love those glamourous eras in time.
6. Glee - It's such a cute word, and I like to feel that way.
7. Gun - I don't think that Americans should have been allowed to own one just because.
8. Grab - I'd like to grab ahold of the Sims 2 here soon! Comeone MAILMAN!
9. "Gin N Juice" - cover by Richard Cheese because I was looking him up yesterday and he does hilarious lounge lizard covers/arrangements of popular songs.
10. Gary Sinese - He's so adorable.

It'll be a while before I really think of all who to tag. But It'll come to me.

Our dog, Carmen, got spayed. She has a tick disease = lots of bleeding. She needs to take meds now for 15 days, poor baby. I gotta run!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I haven't been drawing much lately - hence not many submissions except for my ID. I plan on changing that soon, but I don't know when. I want to start a new project, like design a composition instead of just the typical portrait. Maybe use a different medium than I usually use.

My mom turned me on to this FABULOUS 11 year old artist/ painter/poet. Her name is Akiane. She blows me away. She paints some-most of her stuff out of her head! It looks so real.

Chester is doing much better. His pain medication ran out so he's just drooly kitty now. We are trying to get him to eat his own food. Don't get me wrong, he is already eating food on his own, but *warning, details ahead* he drools so much, so thickly, that it's really messy when he eats, and all his thick spit gets mixed in with the food and he tries to chew his own spit and it just doesn't work. He usually eats most of it, but he gets stuck on the spit part. We're hoping we can take him in soon to get the tube taken out and hopefully he wont drool so much.

Chester, my boyfriend's cat was hit by a car about a week ago, he went into hiding. Ben thought his dad was lying when he said that Chester got hit, so he didn't even look, although even if he did, I'm sure he wouldn't have been able to get him out.

Anyway, so the other day when Ben's uncles were barbequing, Chester walked out, trying to meow - with little success - with his jaw hanging off to one side. I was the only one to really pet him. Ben did too, but he was busy finding an emergency vet that was open. Everyone else said "ew" to the cat and stared at him like a freak show. Chester was still acting like himself, by jove. So Ben found a place to take him, and we took him in.

He was so dirty and full of fleas...I felt so bad for the dear thing. His mouth wreaked too, probably from all the drool, blood and junk trying to fix itself, even though it couldn't. He hadn't eaten since he got hit, or drunk. So it was a good thing we brought him in to see the vet.

The bill was HIGH - a whopping 1,050 bucks! (US dollars). They put pins in his jaw because it was fractured in multiple places, and they put some fake teeth on there because he had broken teeth, even all the way to the root!

We feed him by feeding tube now, so he has this red bandage around his neck with a brown tube sticking out from underneath it on his back. We also give him medication. The vet was sad to see him leave because Chester is SO loving.

Here's Chester
That's what he used to look like, and now he is looking pretty similar to that, just thinner, with a swollen paw (where the IV went in), a bandage, a tube, a mouth apparatus (looks like the bottom of fake vampire teeth), and drool-galore! (He didn't really drool at the vet's office, but I think its because he loves us so much and he smells food)

A calling?

I don't know how, or why....

I feel like I have a calling in my life right at the moment, which isn't really a good thing, although it could be. I never really thought of myself as a professional artist, except for when I was very young. It was the second thing I ever wanted to be after I learned the concept of a job (the first was a singer). Well, over the past few months, I've felt drawn to, well, drawing. I haven't done much these past two months, but there for a while I was drawing everyday. I got VERY frustrated, but I bet that's due to my not having a real, physical teacher which brings me to my point.

I am really feeling an urge to go to school for art and illustration. I know I'm not very good at illustrating, and I know near nothing of animation. I have stumbled upon sketchtavern.com and just LOVE the artists there, and I happen to know that most of the greats on there have gone to school for it. No wonder I lame in comparison to them! I shouldn't even compare myself, I know.

The reason I say this "calling" feeling is somewhat of a bad thing is that, well, I am completing my school for massage. I just graduated, and now I'm in internship doing my 50 hrs - now 48 are left. Not to mention the last two tests I have to take to get my license. Anyway... I already know it's not my life's work to be a massage therapist. It's just not going to last for too long. Maybe a few years if I'm lucky, or if I can stand it.

I wanted to be a sound engineer for movies or cartoons before becoming a massage therapist, but then I got a boyfriend, I got scared of reality, and moving, so I stayed in my home city and well, you know the rest - sort of. I still would really like to go to sound engineering school. It's not expensive, just like massage school isn't expensive compared to Universities. And actually, I even slightly considered going to the Art Institute of Houston for a little while before I graduated High School. But needless to say, I never called that lady back. I feel bad for it, but no way I could've spent 40,000 dollars for classes there.

And really, finishing my massage school depresses me. As much as it should make me happy, it doesn't. It actually makes me feel like I have no plans for life and no aspirations. I love art. I always will. I don't necessarily want to be a struggling artist or a commercial artist, but there's really only those choices to be made. Sure I could make a living at portrait art, I suppose - MAYBE. I only say Maybe because not many people know the real value of art.

Maybe I'm just imagining things, but it's something I've seriously been thinking of doing, but haven't really told anyone. I have no money to do it, and almost no time to either. *sigh* I need some real goals. Even if it's just to better my own skills, I think it would be fun. Same with a singing coach, but that's another story.

Hey guys!

I haven't been around for a while, mostly because school has been wrapping up, and soon I have internship. Not to mention, [link] has been taking up most of my time. Very fun interactive game online.

I haven't been drawing for a while now, but I may soon once I get some sewing out of the way. I also will probably start making more hemp jewelry once I start internship at school during off time.

Also! I received 300 bucks for babysitting recently and have gotten a lot of stuff. I'm into bellydancing a little now. Just started. Got a book in the mail today and have done a few workouts before.

I'm also going to get geta shoes - japanese sandals. I wanted to get some enman geta (round sandals) but those were out of my price range, so I got some from a company in Washington that are just regular geta which has an american twist to them. Still cool and perfect to start with. You don't walk the same way in geta that you do in regular shoes.

ALSO! Most importantly, to me, I am going to start looking for CHAINMAILLE supplies! I have 20 bucks to spend, and I know that isn't a lot, but my boyfriend might help me out too. It's the last 20 bucks I have to spend, so I have to choose wisely. I want to start making chainmaille jewelry and stuff. It's so versatile. But I shall start with bracelets first.

In portrait news, I plan on drawing Stevie Ray Vaughan next in my series of charcoal portraits. I haven't decided on a photo yet though. And I don't know when I'll start it.

In sewing news, I'm working on practice sailor type pants, trying to figure out how to make vintage halter/bra styles so that I can have some that fit and without elastic. Only in the thinking and drawing stages right now. I figured I'd do that instead of buying the actual patterns for roughly 30 bucks a peice - egads. But I AM going on a shopping spree for patterns coming up soon - 36 dollars worth but I'm getting about 10 patterns, which is awesome pricing. I only get patterns when they are on sale (except for the brands that NEVER go on sale, like Burda - hardly goes on sale sometimes once a year- and Kwiksew - never seen it go on sale)

And, the most freaky thing today! Ben and I almost got T-boned by two cars! He thought a stoplight was green, but it was red and he started to turn left! Luckily he caught himself, but I was terrified. He got about 1/4 into the intersection, but quickly backed it up. That's the scariest time I've ever had in a vehicle. And I've gotten in a wreck before. I was so worried so fast that I could've lost him and hurt something of my own.

I may have two commissions soon. One for sure, probably. haha. I'm going to be drawing my Indian friend's fiance. I have yet to know what ethnicity he is but I do know that it will be a relatively small portrait. Haven't decided my technique yet.

Another friend of mine may want me to draw her and her two kids for her father's birthday. We shall see if she is serious.

I don't usually do commissions, but I said yes to one person...so you know how that goes. Besides, I wont mind the money. However I do think I am selling myself short.

I'm also going to show my teacher some of my drawings next class day because I bumped into him earlier today and he asked to see them.

For my OWN happiness, I have three or 4 or 5 people next in line to draw. Got three papers today. Archival! Yes That means they can last 100 years. Postersized? yea. totally.

Willem Dafoe
BB King
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Christopher Walken
David Copperfield

That's my list as of now. I just need to bog down on the final 3. I got a dark paper, so I will probably try to draw a black person, probably BB King. I like him a lot and I've never drawn a dark skinned person before.

Light blue for Stevie...

And regular old brown for whoever else (probably Willem Dafoe or Christopher Walken) They have such characteristic faces! And I LOVE their acting. So great.

Doesn't take me long to bust out the goods now, so we shall see how fast I whip these guys up! Once I make up my mind...oh yea and I have a test Thursday. Crap I need to study! Argh.

... more on this story tomorrow. I'm pooped. Great show! Go see him.

Update: I just stole this from another blog I have. Too tired again to write anything intricate. And Im starting to loose my memories of the event because I havent talked about it.

Man, this evening was INCREDIBLE! David Copperfield was amazing...as always! I hadn't really said anything about going to see him, but I did, and AHH I had a great time. I went with Ben's family.

Let me tell you, if you EVER get a chance to see him, you should definitely go. Everytime I see a magic show it makes me want to go join a magic university (yes, such places exist, just as a clown school exists)

He made a car appear out of thin air, he appeared out of thin air, he took an audience member to Hawaii, he made a lady "pregnant" lol...that was ridiculous (she didn't have a big ol belly, they just did a 'sonogram' and the baby held up a card and the announcement said the name that a lady had written down.), He made a duck appear on the opposite end of the room, he made 10 people disappear, he got 3 audience members to pick 2 random 'lottery numbers' each and they all had guessed what was written in a box, he told us stories and he has a great sense of humor!

I am so glad that he got rid of his "Blue Steel" look (think Zoolander and Siegfried and Roy), as I like to call it. He now acts very down to earth. Very cool guy.

I wore my new dress (see my photo section). I need to make pleats or something in the back though. It was a little loose.

In case anyone is wondering, I prefer David Blaine. I don't really like his big stunts, but his street magic is AWESOME. I wish HE did tours. Or that he came to Corpus to perform street magic and I would walk around town to find him.

I've ALWAYS loved magic and had really considered going to a Magic University down in South Africa, but this happened after 9/11, so my mom said "nah" so... I nixed the idea. I used to have a huge Magic book too, but I don't know what happened to it (this thing was HUGE) About 80 bucks at HALF PRICE BOOKS! *Sigh* I love magic.

Well, I was starting to really get into a funk thinking that I could never draw cartoons well, or even as good as I had been...so I haven't been drawing everyday anymore because of my low self esteem in that aspect. Although I have been reading art books everynight. Everytime I look at a recent drawing (that's crap) I get discouraged. So I needed to draw SOMETHING today to show myself I have something in me somewhere. Hence my newest - Rogue. She's about 2 and a half inches small lol.

Oh yeah, Rogue is one of three things I drew tonight. Just for kicks I'll tell you the other two: a cartoon personified bunny, and a parrot Joan Rivers. My boyfriend kept acting like her saying "Who are you wearing?" over and over again...ugh. So I had an idea, but the brain to paper transfer is too crappy to show you all.

I still cannot reveal my drawing for my boyfriend...I'm dyin' here to show you all. I need to finish it. Maybe tomorrow night or Friday.

Oh yea, I'm going to a Pilates class tomorrow - whoa! And I have a test this Thursday that I have yet to study for. Egads.

First off, I a LOT today! Mostly pirates because I did a search, so if you're one of those people visiting, you're welcome! I love pirates and want to draw/be one someday lol.

Well, I'm almost done with my boyfriend's artwork! I can't wait til I can post something from it. I'll probably post a WIP series and the final version. Also, I may be drawing or making him something else for his birthday. I have a really great idea that I just came up with, but I can't tell a soul...

Anyhoot....

I got Action Cartooning! today! I babysat my boyfriend's cousin today for a few hours and got 25 bucks out of it, so I went and bought the book so that I dont have to use the library's nasty copy that all the little greasy, grubby hands have been all over. I wanted to get Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain too but it was a few bucks out of my price range. I'm halfway through reading the library's copy and am planning on doing some of the exercises and posting them here. I love bettering myself as an artist.

Other than that...I think I missed 's tattoo contest... I wanted to do it, but I was too much of a procrastinator for it, I guess. She hasnt posted anything about it yet though, so I dont know.

Dangit... I really need to carry a notepad around with me to jot down awesome cartoon ideas in. I always have little epiphanies and they always seem to vanish....but for the moment, I shall jot what I remember of today...

Toga's belly hiding her feet
Mini-greyhound that's super hyper
Dancing skinny fireman in the haze of the road (like an illusion)
Television shot of everyone in the middle east acting like hippies with flowers and such with a caption "THIS is NEWS"

Anyhoot... that's all I got for now... I know there's a lot more somewhere in my head. Too bad I suck at cartooning lol. But I'm slowly getting better - on good days.

Well, I'm going to be babysitting soon and for the whole month I'm getting 300 USD! Well...it sounds like a lot until I list the things that I want which I think no one else would buy me for a holiday or my birthday.. but I'm having mixed feelings about some things...

UPDATE:

First: I'm in the process of resizing and watermarking EVERYTHING in my gallery. I'll do as much as I can tonight and hope to be done very soon.

EDIT - pretty much done. There are a few things I may leave unwatermarked. And if you guys think all the stuff in my gallery is now ugli-fied, I can try to make the watermark more a part of the design and use a different font...put more thought into it. but for now I am good.

I need to try drawing some more cartoons tonight. I got the Nutty Professor DVD Special Edition (from 1963!!!! YEEHAW, ... lol) I love it. It's one of my favorite movies EVER, so don't be surprised if you see some fanart from it, or maybe Chaplin.

I'll also be working on my boyfriend's artwork Hurray...I also got a new bathing suit today - looks very 1940s-esque. I plan on taking photos of me in it, but if I don't like them, then I'm not posting them - that simple. And I'll try not to make the watermarks too bold like on the rest of the ones I have.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I'm almost done with my boyfriend's artwork! I hope he likes it. I think I started too soon on it because I'm almost through...how unusual for me! If you'd like to see progress, I can send the link to you. It's looking nice

On another note: I had been thinking of watermarking and downgrading quality on all my stuff because of what's been going on at DA, what with all the art theft and people misinterpreting art photography for stock. It just happened to me, but the issue has been easily resolved. Thank you !

I was really flattered that he liked it so much he wanted to mess around with it, but I'd really rather be the only one in control/posession of my images. I've felt like this ever since I came to DA. I feel bad being harsh about it, but it's how I feel. So I've gone writing bold statements on my photos just so this doesn't go any further with anyone else. As stated, my stock account is But even then, I don't allow photo-manipulation because I'd rather my own image be kept to myself. Does that make sense? I don't mean to dis the photo-manipulators, because there are some great ones out there, but that's just how I feel about my personal images.

I think I shall put this in my signature now so that everyone knows.

I'll be watermarking all of my art in the upcoming days (actually I'll probably be done by tomorrow)

I meant to go to sleep SO much earlier to see Scary Movie 4 tomorrow, but I didnt! eek! My boyfriend's going to be upset with me...

I want to make this one an awesome one. (Finished - colored - and whatnot.)

It just makes me believe that I am getting better and that I can get even better.

Tagged this time, by the lovely

Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours....

So, here's my 6 things:

1. I have a tendancy to stare at my favorite peices my artwork, even long after they are finished. I think it's uncommon that I can see it from more than one perspective - the art, and the fan.

2. I'm told I am a very fast learner no matter what I'm learning when I put my mind to it/ like what I'm doing.

3. I can usually see through peoples' facades right when I meet them, but it gets even better with time.

4. Bugs + ears = yelp

5. I can tie a cherry's stem in a knot with my tongue. Also, I can twist my tongue, and bring both sides together.

6. I can raise either eyebrow without raising the other.

If you wish to post that you are tagged, then go ahead and post saying I tagged you

Update:

I figured I've been writing too many journals lately, so I'm just updating this one.

My boyfriend has been insisting on buying me something lately. I keep telling him not to, but he wanted to (I'm happy it was cheap) ...Anyway, I got this FABULOUS book by Ben Caldwell about Fantasy Cartooning - that's actually the title of the book- His style is amazing, and I'm learning quite a bit. Tomorrow, or tonight (probably tomorrow) I want to try out some of this new knowledge I have The book was only 10 US Dollars

Be sure and check out his website, he's amazing! [link]

Success! The kitties don't need mama anymore to come out of the cage! Hurray I've been going in the bathroom to visit with them a few times a day. Today they even climbed on me and wanted to get pet. It wasn't so hard after all! And I believe we have 2 boys and a girl. The girl was the "Devil kitty" as Ben would say. That explains her mood swings.

Also, I drew Fella as a Pin up, as promised.

Hey gang! I have a new project going, but can't say much. It's for my boyfriend's birthday which is in about a month, so I have to keep it hush hush unless he finds out. And that could be an easy give away (damn!) I will try to put more stuff up, and try to finish Frankenfurter (oh the dratted thing!)

In the meantime, I suggest you check out 's work! She does awesome little thick pin up chicks. And she took my suggestion for her gender swapping series! PAN! [link] And let me tell you, she did an AWESOME job! And she also did several other female renditions of males including Popeye, Han Solo, Cthulu, and Johnny Bravo! (there's more)

Anyway...

In non-art news:

I just remembered that we have kitties. They are a few weeks old and were hiding out in our laundry room. They were becoming ferral, so I am trying to get them to be sociable before it's too late! One of them is pretty bad, but I know it's because they are just now learning to see (their eyes are blue and look all twecked out like (o ) . ( o) And any little movement or noise and they hiss. Especially the one. But I have pet them all, and they have remained calm for a period of time. I even got the white one to purr....awww. The other black one needs lots of special care though. Everyday for a while a few times a day I'm going to need to be with them.

Wish me luck!

And... I was tagged again! by the fabulous

6 interesting things...

1 I love how my feet feel after I have slept with socks on.
2 I often wonder what it would be like to have a friend with a disability of any kind.
3 I don't care for chocolate much
4 I love the sweet midget pickles!
5 I play classical and rockabilly/blues guitar
6 I have beaten FreeCell 3 times in one night (in two hours)

I'm feeling MUCH better today, and I really feel motivated to draw tonight, but I want to start something new. I guess I've gotten so far along with Frankenfurter now that I feel like I just want to move on . but I can't, I know I have to finish it, and I know I have to finish my parents' painting...rah. Anyway, why the heck can't i start a new one - I dont see why not? And the more I look at Frankenfurter, the more I dislike it. So I need a break from him.

Well, just in case you forgot, here are the lists of things I want to draw eventually...

Stewie

Pin ups:
Irish
Kitty (specifically some of my cats, and then some humans with kitty ears and tail)
Fella icon from deviantart (When I get 25 watchers I'll do this)...Crap. Need to start this one! I have 28 watchers!
Smurfette
Alice in wonderland
Nintendo (Zelda, SMB)
Devilish/Vixen
Rockabilly
Classic Pin up (Gil Elvgren)
Friends
Looney Tunes
Ethnic (We NEED more dark pinups!)
Pan (from Roman mythology - look it up.) While I'm at it, why not just a mythology theme altogether?
Elves
Nymph
Muse
PIRATE!

People:

* = for sure, ~ = maybe, ^ = probably eventually

Charlie Chaplin*
Rob Thomas~
Ziyi Zhang~
Robert Downey Jr. ~
Milla Jovovich^
Sandra Bullock~
Liv Tyler~
Liz Hurley~
Jon Stewart~
Dane Cook*
Willem Dafoe^
Elizabeth montgomery~
Elijah Wood~
Johnny Depp~
Steve Carell^
Saffron Burrows~
Hugh Jackman~
Ray Park~
Asian people^
African people^
My boyfriend*
Me^
Water*
Fire~

And then I have another idea....to draw unexpected poses of facial expressions...not just smiles, but maybe someone yelling, or laughting extremely hard.

And then my other idea is to draw odd angles.

Of course I also need to practice on hair and more contrast too.

Anyway...Yea, so that's my list. My boyfriend wants me to draw Kate Beckingsale for him, I think...I'm not sure. lol. Dunno if that request is going to get fulfilled. DAMNIT I NEED brown paper. I feel that is my best medium for realism, and it's SO fun to do such a large drawing.

And actually, I've been thinking of doing a series of comedians, because it seems they are severely underrated with artists...But I would LOVE to do this on brown paper. Damn the stuff for being so expensive! (but I AM babysitting this weekend, so I'll see what I can get money wise..makes me excited!)

In other news...I got tagged.

6 interesting things about me...who knew?

1.) I point and shake my finger when I'm mad with my other hand on my hip, like the old cartoons. (REALLY And i had this pointed -no pun intended- out to me)

2.) Sometimes I eat macaroni with ketchup

3.) I can't stand anything near my ears that wasn't put there by me. (IE flies, moths, other peoples' fingers)

4.) I am somewhat of a grammar freak. Sure, I have typos, but when I'm writing a long e-mail or talking to a friend, I have to make sure I'm spelling something right or saying it right, and if they don't, I usually correct myself or them. Or I look up whatever it is (if it's a mispelt word) Also, if a word is used incorrectly, I do the same. If I dont say anything, I am annoyed inside.

5.) This is getting harder to do...I can chew just about any two tastes in my mouth at the same time as I'm finishing something else and it usually doesn't bother me at all. (Ie. I can eat spaghetti, and as I am finishing my last bite, I eat ice cream and yes I can bite ice cream)

6.) If someone bugs me to do something, I will not do it just in spite of them until I feel like doing it.

No one to help with themes? okay...

Well, for now I'm going to get my hands dirty and make myself a head model out of clay. Wish me luck.

So, I'm searching for weird/cool/interesting themes for some pin up girl characters. Some of these ideas I got from looking at others' pin up art. Care to expand my list?

Irish
Kitty (specifically some of my cats, and then some humans with kitty ears and tail)
Fella icon from deviantart (When I get 25 watchers I'll do this)
Smurfette
Alice in wonderland
Nintendo (Zelda, SMB)
Devilish/Vixen
Rockabilly
Classic Pin up (Gil Elvgren)
Friends
Looney Tunes
Ethnic (We NEED more dark pinups!)
Pan (from Roman mythology - look it up.) While I'm at it, why not just a mythology theme altogether?
Elves
Nymph
Muse
PIRATE!

I'm obsessed with Pin up cartoons and just regular old cartoons right now. Like the amazing ones with foreshortening and character. I've found so many awesome illustrators and cartoonists lately, I just have to showcase them

Well, I've been thinking of starting a stock photo account for a while. Would any of you be interested? I've been thinking of poses that I haven't been able to find and have a feeling others probably are too. I'm talking, like different views of feet, hands, figure poses. I've never seen a stock account with different views of feet and hands, or all around views of a face.

And everywhere else where there's good photos, is in books... and if you're poor like me, that's barely an option.

I'm getting in the mood to draw again after my short hiatus of late (when I had to study for another test, really). I went to 's page on DA, AND her website. She is amazing and going to see her work really motivated me just now. And it made me realize that I haven't challenged myself to a dual lately. I need to do that. The last one I did that of, was, well KINDA Frankenfurter, but really, it was Stevie. I dont know if I've uploaded that work. I should though if I haven't. that was my first try with really soft graphite and charcoal. Turned out better than I thought.

And I have a few subjects in mind for my next drawing... Anyone seen the movie, MODERN TIMES? Anyway...I was obsessed with that starring actor for a while and never did draw a decent portrait of him. I still want to draw the following, but you know us realistic artists, we always have lists... (I hope I'm not the only one...) I just don't make much time for drawing these days and I really should. It's this damned computer contraption. I guess it's just easier to sit here and do nothing.

Well, lately I've REALLY gotten into drawing pin ups, well at least WANTING to draw retro styled cartoon pin ups like Tex Avery and his Red Hot, or GoblinQueeen - She is my favorite artist right now and I'm desparately trying to figure out how she does it, but I do want to find my own style as well.

Anyway, in the next few days dont be suprised if I submit some new scraps of some doodles I'm working on.

It's really important to me because I want to draw a pin up for my boyfriend's new remodeled room! Via request even

So if you have ANY advice on this kind of stuff, please drop it my way, or even if you know of another artist.

UPDATE:

I'm trying to join Maybe then I can surely get someone to help me with my art That's not to say that you all don't help me, you do! But now I need help with my illustration skills too, as noted above

I have to jot this down - I had a dream I was talking to Steve Carell at a little get together in a corner forever! and then when he left, I think I talked to Ben stiller. That was awesome because we were talking like real people about real issues and things.

In other news, Frankenfurter is almost done, as you can see. Most of it will be black, I'm saving that for last. I still don't know whether or not I should color the background. This is my first color portrait, and I think it's going really well. I love ticonderogas! Thank Heavens I got them. Prismacolors are alright, but I'd really have to play with those, and this portrait needs to be marvelous because it's for my mom.

and I'm feeling a lot better now, emotionally than before. I feel more accomplished and festive
