Although I'm not working fulltime, I am so super busy! I'm shooting freelance work which keeps me busy, but also, I'm moving in about 10 days.

VERY excited! Our place right now is way too small..not to mention the ceilings are too low to shoot much in, so hopefully our new place will allow me a spot to set up for freelance work.
After searching for weeks for the perfect apartment (within a strict budget) we found SUCH a gem. Half the price of most places with the same square-ft, it is in a historical building, and it is currently being completely renovated before our move-in date. New kitchen & bath with all new appliances. FABULOUS. Its given me to buy a new couch, carpet, and all sorts of wonderful things to decorate the new place with.

I'll be posting photos on my facebook of the reno progress, because as of right now, it's such a mess! They just finished the electrical, and drywall, so the process is almost finished.

In other news,

Christmas was great! The best gift of all being my new Canon 5D Mark II that I gave to myself. Now I'm shooting mostly with my 70-200mm L series lens, and the magic is in the photos! I haven't shot any creatives with that baby yet, only portfolio shoots/headshots and a wedding, but once the move is over, Im hoping to start planning new creative shoots.

Oh, and my new website is STILL not finished unfortunately, there are so many finishing touches to put on it, it's taking longer than expected. BUT when it does launch which will be (VERY very very soon) it will be FanTASIC. So it's worth the wait.

That's it for now..... any new deviations that I post on here will be from shoots with clients... weddings/headshots etc.... but I'd love to know what you think, your comments are always appreciated!

Happy New Year!

Winter always gets me down, but I wasn't expecting to feel the effects of very little sunlight and harsh temperatures quite this early in the season...

but anyhow, I've been a bit down lately. I'm working full-time editing photos at a studio, and it's a good job and even in my field, but it lacks variety. So I've been trying to keep busy shooting creatives for my portfolio whenever I get the chance, and it's been going well. The last two shoots I've done with Kristen have been totally beneficial to my book. I'll be posting more photos from my latest shoot with a Czech girl named Anna, who has the most amazing figure I've ever worked with on a shoot.....

so stay tuned for those photos.

My re-vamped website should be launched in the first half of December, I'll be sure to let everyone know when it is.....but for now I've created a facebook "Page" where you can "Become a Fan" and get recent news and photo updates. I'll also be posting some behind the scenes shots there for you to check out. So yes, go here and join: [link]

Thanks to those who have sent me wonderfully kind messages over the last few weeks, it keeps me happy during this gross weather

Well, it's been a long time coming, but my photography website is almost complete. I've done all the designing and editing by myself up to this point, by purchasing an account and domain name from [link].

Now, in all honesty, I have a very very limited amount of knowledge in HTML/Javascript ect. so putting together what I have already has taken me longer than it probably should have (and I'm so scared of editing anything else in case I mess up the code somewhere!).

That being said, I'm having issues finding a decent template for a photo gallery page, and then sorting all the images I want to upload and figuring out how to make the thumbnails etc etc....

I want to have 4 gallery pages in my site, and right now there is some old javascript in there with old images I want to take out. CAN ANYONE please help me with figuring this whole thing out?

Or even if anyone has the html coding for a decent gallery page that they are willing to share, that would be suuuuper helpful! (I've been on all of those "free template" sites and I'm not too impressed}.

OK. I'm going to post this on my myspace account as well in hopes that anyone will read it and be able to help me finally finish this thing!

But for now, whether you're interested/able to help me or not, check out what I've done so far and let me know what you think!

[link]

Please keep in mind that this site was not made from a generator, it was made by hand-typing out the html code!

*sigh*

I have a few ideas design-wise, but in terms of translating it all into code.... I'm terrible. My school offers each student with personal space online for portfolios etc, so I won't have to pay for a domain name or server or anything like that.... but it's just a matter of designing the site and uploading the code. If ANYONE who has experience in web design can help me out with this, please contact me through here or angiemartinphotos@yahoo.ca and we can discuss what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!

xox Angie

Life is A-MAZING.
I'm so happy happy happy happy!

This is just a little breather that I'm taking to reflect on how awesome things are going and to help remind myself that even when I am stressed beyond belief and think things are out of my control and terrible, that good things can happen. Usually you have to work damn hard to get those good things, but sometimes luck is on your side.

I'm so freaking about the internship I got at Fashion magazine, freaking in a good-nervous-anxious kind of way. I can't wait to get started and get an idea of what I'm in for.

FASHION Magazine

But judging from the interview I had with the art director & photo editor I can already tell that things in that office are fast-paced and have the potential to be extremely superficial and well... terrifying. Jan/Feb will therefore be dedicated to learning as much as possible about using Adobe InDesign and brushing up on photoshop skills. I also have to research some designers and compare some of the competitors (ie Flare, Elle Canada etc) so I have a better idea of what I'll be dealing with and can be the best damn photo intern they've ever had at Fashion. Watching "The Fashionista Daries" doesn't help with the nervousness.... but dang is it ever entertaining.

Come January I'll be moving in downtown with my boyfriend (which I must say, never in a million years did I ever think I would be doing so early in our committed relationship, but I'm so so so stoked about it). I've never had a guy make me so happy before in my life. I feel like we truly understand each other and are similar in so many important ways. But at the same time, we are different enough and are still learning things about one another which makes everything so new, so vibrant and so exciting. My new theory is that love comes when you least expect it, when you're not looking for it, or when you're convinced it can't be a possibility.

So I will soon be happily settled in with my boy and hopefully a brand new kitty in our place downtown. I can't tell you how long I've wanted to live downtown in T.O. ... I guess it's been pretty much my whole life that I knew I wanted to end up living there eventually. And not in the beaches, not just outside of downtown....I wanted to live exactly where I'll be with Kev, just off Queen West by the Gladstone. Great area with great people, great bars, great shops, and such an easy streetcar ride to work... and just about everywhere I want to go.

So how can one person in a matter of months find the first steps to happiness in love, work and a great place to live? I don't know but I feel damn lucky. And did I mention happy?
