So...The clients, who are they? What have they done to you that make you crazy? Why are you sticking to them, nonetheless all the pressure they put into you?

A love-hate relationship I must say.

OK, here's one of my weirdest/strangest conversation I have had with a client that sent me into sleepless nights of thinking and thinking and thinking..and as a 3rd party, you may judge does it worth to be crazy because of this client?

(in a meeting after a previous request of sample character design for children story books, cartoon style design of a rabbit was instructed in the request)
Me : Here it is...
Client : ........... not quite what we're looking for..we need ..ummm... This doesn't look like a rabbit at all! .......
Me : ......................

I got turned down for that project. And I was silent after his remark. I said nothing. I didn't do any defenses, because I thought what good it would be? I was wondering, if my rabbit (similar to my [link]) doesn't look like a real rabbit, then does Mickey look like a real mouse? What the heck is Goofy, then? I KNOW it doesn't look like a real rabbit, I MADE it that way intentionally!! You requested cartoon style, remember?

So,

from my experience and Bayou's, what lessons have you learned? What's your opinion? Am I a big cry baby who refuses to introspect and train myself more, or have clients been evolving into some kind of lunatic drunk and I didn't realize it?

Share your thoughts and experience! I want to hear from international friends too! What happened there? Is it the same?

I got pretty exhausted (the party, moving into a new house, etc) and before i could relax a bit longer, the honeymoon was coming.

It was lovely, me and my boyf.. er, husband, went to italy and france. I was hoping to see a lot of great art and architecture, and I did! both are really beautiful country. (hey, I should fill my flickr account with these babies)

And the gluttony devil stayed with me throughout the honeymoon. I stuffed myself with a lot of cheese products, pasta, and pizza. Luckily my husband don't mind me getting extra "puffiness".

So the euporia's all over now, and now I'm back to the stacked, long abandoned pile of work. And hopefullly i will be submitting art to DA really soon.

As I've already mentioned before, bahasa has a lot similarities to Japanese pronunciation.
No missing consonant, nor blending vocals here, you pronounce what you read.

Here goes :

Terima kasih (thank you) = "te-ri-ma ka-sih"

te as in te-rms
ri as in ri-ng
ma as in ma-rtha

ka as in ka-leidoscope
sih as in see but add some "h" to the end, like when you say "doh"

remember Japanese pronunciation, as you may more familiar to it.
"a-ki-ra", "sa-ku-ra", "na-ru-to"

e.g. kura-kura (turtle) pronounces the same as "kura" in sakura (cherry tree in Japan)

easy isn't it, mmmm, let's practice now!

if you've decided to buy it say "ok, saya ambil deh!"

FINALLY! i have read all Harry Potter's quest!!

Such a relief to finally know all those truths!!

And what a plot!! I never thought of anything!
(well except the happily ever after ending ..but ooooppss! I say no more!)

Here is my quick review of the whole book, without, of course, spoiling your curiosity, if it's not has yet to be fulfilled. OK, here goes..

Chapter 1-9 as you might expect from the previous series, going along and stitching the
plot from where it ended in book six...

Chapter 10-23 a real bore for me (it's only my opinion, but you may find these chapters
intriguing, i don't know..)

Chapter 23-25 now we see where we heading now, the usual action finally rise

Chapter 26-30 embrace yourself for the climax..

Chapter 27-36 (end) I felt (my subjective opinion, once again) my heart pounding,
tears occasionally watered my eyes, emotion's drifting from anger,
symphaty, etc.. to keep it short...a great satisfaction!

1 epilogue well, this one's pretty predictable.. but i don't mind though..


so that's it everyone!
the best of 7?? well I think it's not as surprising as the first one, nor much exhilarating for there was zero quidditch tournaments.

but I must say that this one is a heart breaker.
you'll know what I mean.

Third, he's not willing to listen anyone's talking!! he just played with himself or cut other people's story with something that's clearly unrelated!

What's wrong with him?? everyone else's just staring at each other, rolling their eyes... and kinda upset because the group meeting become a one man show saying the most unrelated issue of the day. the conclusion : no there's no conclusion that day,

there are strange people and there are even stranger ones.... are they exist to ruin our lives (yes, i did feel upset) or to help them (come to think of it, i pity his situation).

what do you think???

compared to previous movies, that is...

my average rating reason is:

three villains in a row??? :0

however quantity doesn't always mean quality, it's like highly exploited villains movie.. i think venom and green goblin jr. is sufficient. the result from three villains in a movie is, sandman's part is like a sad drama attached to uncle ben's death.. in the end he only become venom's sidekick?? poor man...

secondly, venom showed his teeth in just a terrible minutes before the ending, and where's the tounge?? i think venom was too much talking and less action, making him like a nice villain. i am expecting a big fright when looking at him, but what i got is a nice guy

and bryce dallas as gwen stacy? i mean, she's a wonderful actress, but she doesn't have gwen stacy's consevative and innocence aura, she's too tall, i think..and too modern looking (i hate the copier ad scene)...the blond hair is looking pretty dull too.. can't they have a nicer wig?

and spidey dressed as an emo kid, side swept bangs, tiny black shirt, and lots of eyeliner. don't work as evil spidey. as jerk spidey? might work.

so here's my opinion... i won't answer any hate/mocking replies...open up to any discussion, but please, use proper languages and gestures.

and i havent thought up any good resolutions!

and i havent touched my brand new 1007 planner book i earned the hard way (collecting stamps from starbucks, begging everyone (whether i recognized or not) purchased cups of coffee to stamp my card)!

and i havent touched my PS2 yet! is she going to be a "jablay" (indonesian term for smth/someone in the state lacking of intercourse) ?

and i havent taken any yoga classes!

and i havent posted much artworks as i should!

so stupid of me.. what have i done this month??

January supposed to be a reflective, contemplative, and introspective month..
I really like the Greek God resembles this month, Janus, who was told to have 2 faces, each one looking in opposite direction.. the two faces symbolizes that January closes the previous year, (well, looking back to what've we done) and the same time it opens a brand the new year (well, ... hello new opportunites! )
you'll find janus in every greek/roman style door too, looking to both outside and inside the house.

i guess i let my previous year wasted thinking only about my "inside" or my past behind me, what makes me what i am today and stuff like that...

i tried to figure it out and what have i earned? past and other historical events or records are supposed to support our decision planning and executing our present day and future ones..

that's my first resolution for 2007, STOP MAKING EXCUSES. i would've done so many if i quit making excuses to myself. why would you search for any excuses in the first place? for me, i guess i'm jus too lazy and i'm too scared to try anything that's unpredictable.
what if the earthquake hit me? i guess i would do nothing if i stay with the excuses.

ok, for now on i will fight my own mind, and stop making excuses.

sooo... where's the best site for yoga's posture tutorial.. hmmm...

ps. my sympahty and prayer are also given to the family, relatives, and the victims of indonesian ferry accidents and airplane crash in the end of 2006. Let's hope for the best.

i can't believe it that the new Bond Movie ( Casino Royale) was opened at the whole studios in one theatre (4 studios playing Bond at the same time)! to make things more peculiar, it is fully seated!! none were empty that night!

the grand opening was something, but this Bond survive another week, and another, and another... do people really want to see this Craig who replaces Brosnan? or is the movie actually great? or is it the Bond franchise that tingles every moviefreak curiousity??

well i cant decide it yet, havent been to the cinema for a while..

i'm open for any comments about the new bond movie, but PLEASE, i WILL watch this movie, no spoilers, ok..

for those who have waited for any kind of response from me, i'm terribly sorry, this has been a busy month and will be in that state for at least ..um... 4-5 months ahead..

i'm under a hideous deadline of final assignment and paper in my universities.. (yes, i type the university in plural form, i'm a double agent)

so that the reason for my un-availability..then again, sorry

i might not uploading works as many as i used to, because i dont take commisioned illustrations under this situation. too much pressure, i might explode!!

but i try to make less "complex" non commercial piece to upload and share with other, i hope, i can still manage it..

if you're kind enough, you might like to see my scraps section, i'll be doing more scraps at this tight situation..they're not pretty to see, but hey, if only you do have time to burn...

however dont ever hesitate to ask me anything

until one friend hold my hand with a serious straight face (he has funny expression usually) and said; "Bram's didn't make it"

suddenly a million arrows stabbed my heart and i can't deny it here that i tried real hard to keep my tears inside. Bram was diagnosed with cancer for the last 7 years of his life. I met him the first day i went to univ. He had already battling the cancer 3 years then.

you simply couldn't point him as a weakling, or somebody with serious illness.. he was so lively and energetic, in fact i fell into several of his jokes and tricks..(sigh...the memory, i used to hate him when he teased me)

he's playful. and happy.
little did i know..he's hiding it from the rest of us. all we knew was that he's gone several months to hongkong and china for treatment. and when he's back all of us felt a great relief beliefing he was cured. he's not really cured though. he always missed classed and assignments, until one day he was forced to leave his study in univ due to his body condition.

yet, he never gave up. he tried to keep himself busy, being an EO and teaching in highschool. that's what i heard. and finally i heard his departure from us.

life's just a breath away. whether you're a high spirited person or a person who can't keep a minute away from thinking about his/her own death, your life's not yours. even your body's not yours..
Bram was really determined, high spirited person who always try to live his life to the fullest. His body, on the other way, said "no, it's enough" when his soul wanted to move on.

ok ok ..enough of the flashbacks, now that you've seen the series.. a lot of friends asked me whether there's a book which these illustration featured, and the answer is YES, it is titled "JATAKA: the golden deer"

but.. i made this one as commisioned by my local buddhist organization, so the fact is: i've sold them the right to use these illustrations as their own..

i' ve asked them about my share of rights for the whole book (because not only i illustrated it, but also designd and layouted) and they said i COULD sell/give/distribute the books to my friends as long as IT IS NOT distributed in Indonesia.

so for all of you who has been asking about the book.. and not domiciled in indonesia, rejoice! you can have your own copy! but there's still a catch, because you're not part of my local buddhist organization you wont have them free like the buddhist children here do ^___^ deeply sorry... but since i did this for noncommercial use i wont make my profit this time too, but still there will be other cost to cover, like legal cost, frieght cost, and printing cost, and bundle cost.

so what do you think...should i make copies to distribution outside indonesia?
notify me if you interested in this idea..i will soon make copies and share them to you.

i hope we'll be interacting more in the future..and all your inputs are really really appreciated, and put up to practice by me.., i'll be a better artist and deviant.

ok here's an explanation about me...the i and my and me, used in this page actually refer to two persons. a boy and a girl. it makes me a hermaprodith then
i may have explain it before..but here's if you got confused.
we can't be separated as two persons with two gallery because we simply works together (doing one normal artist's job) altough some of the works pictured here are individual...like "untitled" for instance, is an individual work of the boy..and "bronnie.." belongs to the girl..


i usually work like this:
the girl sketches and pencils
the boy inks or colors (with brushes and drawing pens)
the girl scans and retouches (with photoshop, most of the time)

about the varied styles, we're often arguing before we start painting, and truth is we have a really different individual likes and styles, he likes something glorious and deep and she likes something odd and simple
the only similiarity we both share is inconsistency in likings
we are independent illustrators doing commisioned works,so in order to satisfy our random employers we ougth to have many distinctive styles in our books

another fact: the girl does all the writing here at DA because the boy doesnt speak english
the same goes for translating all comments, so if you talk to me here, i'm the girl. if you have something to ask the boy, dont mind asking me or ask for the boy to answer, i shall answer in the boy's half
