Back to Brooklyn was a concept that I, came up with on October 22nd, 2002. It is a concept I hold near and dear to me. Now I know times have changed with all this Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom wannabe Flash animation, but at the time, I felt there were never any serious Flash's about Mario. I wanted to do something that made the audience feel compassion for the hero.. I wanted him to live up to his once former glory. But times have changed; Mario's reputation has hit an all-time low. I had hoped to change all this..

For the complete history, read this. [link]
It's a pretty interesting piece to see how far I've come, yet how far I still have to go.. History is still a work in progress.

For complete Bio's on each character featured in Back to Brooklyn, read this. [link]

The Profiles have yet to be started. I want to get character designs for everyone uploaded, descriptions of personality, how they came to be, age and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's going to be good!

To join, send me a Note. Be patient, I can't be everywhere at once. And please, DO NOT leave a comment about Joining. It will be ignored. Simply send me a note with the subject Joining. Ah yes, I almost forgot! To be in the club, you must also put a link to the club in, either your journal entries or in your sig.

For an icon, type: : iconbacktobrooklyn : without the spaces and for a text link, you must type : devbacktobrooklyn :

Pretty self-explanatory.

If you're interesting in submitting fanart, send me a note with the subject Submissions. Please include a link to the submission, whether it be Deviant Art or elsewhere. You must submit your own work, no stealing. It doesn't matter if it was giftart you made or a trade you made for me months ago, I will accept it. And also, in the note, include the title and description you want used, or I will be creative. And creative I mean, generic and uninspired. I may contact some people that created Back to Brooklyn art a while ago for me, to get their permission to submit their stuff on this account.

Overview:

Back to Brooklyn was a concept that I, came up with on October 22nd, 2002. It is a concept I hold near and dear to me. Now I know times have changed with all this Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom wannabe Flash animation, but at the time, I felt there were never any serious Flash's about Mario. I wanted to do something that made the audience feel compassion for the hero.. I wanted him to live up to his once former glory. But times have changed; Mario's reputation has hit an all-time low. I had hoped to change all this..

Back to Brooklyn started off very different than what you know it as today. Originally, I had drawn Mario in a trenchcoat as a concept for "Super Stoner Bros." Super Stoner Bros was a horrid Flash I did over 3 years ago that featured Mario and Luigi reciting the opening theme to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Well after I completed the design, I realized that Mario had something more to him.. Shortly, thereafter, I began thinking about his old cartoons, the movie. Brooklyn, his home world, played a significant role in both. I began ellaborating some, and released a trailer and a short back in January, 2003. Both were horrid, now that I look back on it. As time when on, I started to improve my artistic abilities and styles.

Everytime I animated a scene, I'd end up going back and redoing it two weeks later to better fit my artistic vision. I have probably animated the movie's first half, about, 3 different times. Each time, I improved on my drawings, but animations really didn't get that much better.

About 6 months ago, I was finally happy with where I had arrived as an artist, and promised myself to start animating the movie again, from scrath. About 1/4 of the way through, though, things took a turn for the worst. My computer crashed and after a dreadful month of waiting for repairs, I found out that everything was lost. I lost all my unsubmitted art (There was probably a good 30 decent pictures that I had never submitted over the years), along with that 1/4th of the movie.

Now 1/4 doesn't seem like much, but I poured my soul into that animation, I did everything right. And after having it lost, I didn't feel too much like jumping right back in and reanimating. As of now, I continue to improve and create new character designs. I hope to soon turn Back to Brooklyn into a comic.

Why a comic? Well I've made people wait for too long, I need to give them something for their patience. And at the same time, I realize that as an animator, it would take me far too long to get the movie done, and I still have areas to improve on in animation. Also, I'm currently a Senior in High School and my efforts would be hindered dearly by School, Homework, Work, and the pathetic thing I call my social life. Not much time is left. I'd suspect, though, after I complete High School, that will really give me a good chance to dive into animation and see what I can do.

PLOT:

Now I should have stepped in earlier to say this, but the plot has also varied dramatically in Back to Brooklyn over the years.

...More to come! Just don't have time to add more at the moment. Sorry!
