Things are very busy, but going very well.

The weather is starting to get nice and toasty (well it was, until the cool fall like weather today), but I'm just putting up photos from Scotland when I was visiting this past December/January.

Abrazo!

So it's been a long time since I've been on DA. I'm not sure what kept me away, but I just didn't feel any pull to really come online for the past while. I'm happy to be back though, and I must say that I do like Version 6, mostly, the preview of the deviations. For someone like me with 500+ deviations to look at, this is a great way to look at all of them quickly, instead of just skipping them all (which I totally wouldn't be able to do).

So I'm back from Italy, my second trip of the year. I travelled on my own with a tour company and had such a wonderful time. My favourites were Pompeii, Rome and Florence. I would love to go back to Lake Garda and to Venice. I will be posting pictures from that trip that I took with my new compact Canon. I loved the SD400, but the lack of IS was driving me nuts, so I just made the simple upgrade to the SD1100. It's serving me well, but I'm having a problem with washed out skies when I focus on certain things. I'm not sure if it's just a glitch with my camera, since it wasn't an issue with my last one, or maybe I just have to play around with settings.

Hmmm...

So, since I've finally finished putting up some Europe pictures, I'm skipping the rest of last year and going straight to my recent Barbados pictures!

3 months until I go back to Italy! I'm incredibly excited about it.

I'm a little anxious to find out about whether or not I've gotten into a Teacher Education program this year, but only a couple weeks til I get the results!
I've been catching up on all the deviations that have been posted by those artists who I'm watching. I was at just under 1,000, and now I'm at 160, so I'm doing pretty good! I refuse to leave any unseen.

I've been gravitating to many spiritual things lately, which is a bit odd for me, since I'm not a follower of any particular religion. Maybe it's just that time of year.

So to Europe I went, and visited Rome, Vatican City, Florence, the Tuscan Hills, the Cinque Terre Region, Nice, Cannes (during the film festival!), Monaco, Avignon, Barcelona and Madrid!!!! The trip was a BLAST. I had the time of my life. So now I am back home, about to start my new job for the summer. I took 2500 pictures over my two week voyage in Europe, so needless to say, DA will be seeing some new upload action in the near future.

I was concerned that I didn't have any decent winter photography to put up, but an snow and ice storm graced us with its presence last week, and I went snap happy the next morning when the sun came out. I had just woken up and the sun poked out, so I ran out in my housecoat, threw on a jacket on top, and dodged the falling chunks/melting bits of ice. My house is surrounded by old trees (30+ years old), so I was concerned that we'd lose one overnight, but thankfully, just a few branches fell off.

I'm almost done school. AHHHHH!!!! In four weeks I find out what my future has in store. In five weeks I'll be done classes, and in eight weeks I'll be done undergraduate study forever. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time.

The past couple weeks have been so crazy with school! Man, I'm taking a wee bit of a lighter course load this term, but everything is just piling up. So now I have nothing due/no exams to write until December, so I'm catching up with all my reading and preparing my applications to get my teaching qualifications next year!

It was my birthday last week and I'm getting my grad photo done next week, so I'm starting to feel quite old. I can't believe I'm almost done my undergrad degree. But my birthday was a lot of fun! I had an essay due the day of, but Friday night I had a hotel room and had friends over, then we went to a club and I got to dance the night away. Good times with good friends indeed
Camp was such an inpsiring experience for me, and hopefully I was able to reflect that in some of my work.

Next pictures that I'm going to post are from a parade called Caribana here in Toronto. It's an annual celebration started 39 years ago as the West-Indian Canadians gift to Canada for her birthday. It was modelled off of Carnival in Trinidad and is filled with gorgeous costumes and amazing music. The pictures I took will all be in the photojournalism category methinks.
This is very exciting Photolust has featured Harrison's Cave, Balance under the geology category on May 23. Yay!

I got back from New York City yesterday. My orchestra (the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra) played at Carnegie Hall on Monday night, and was the first Canadian Youth Wind Orchestra to do so!!!!!! It was very, very mindblowingly amazing. Go TYWO!

For reading week last week I went to Barbados with my family for the week and went totally photography crazy. It was my first trip with my digital camera so I ended up going wild and took over 300 pictures during the week. School has been pretty jam packed for the past while, and will continue to be 'til the end of the school year, but my plan is to be posting pictures during my frequent short breaks

So for my birthday myself and my Mum got me my first digital camera! My point and shoot Pentax died a couple months ago so I had been using my Mum's, but after a LOT of research, I decided to invest in a Canon Powershot SD400. I'm still trying to figure out a lot of the settings but I adore this camera! I've always wanted to get more into photography and this is a good start for me. Any experience I had previously was usually of beach scenes, so exploration in other things should be interesting

I've been too stressed to write poetry these days, and my Romantic poetry course is scaring me away from ever writing again because these guys just had poetry mastered so well, I don't think I could write without comparing myself to them. My poetry muse has been sleeping but mayhaps she'll awake sometime soon. We'll see.

So of course when I'm in hardcore crunch time at school, I decide to finally wander over to DA and have a look round.
I decided I might as well add something while I'm here, so I uploaded 3 photos and I moved some of the poetry that I think is just horrid over to scraps.
And off to studying again I go!

Unfortunately, I've been quite private with my poetry of late, and the only art i really am any good at is blending... so really that's all i've submitted! I'm hoping to buy a new camera so I can take some really nice pictures this summer.
that is all i babble about for now ^.^

Hello! I'm brand new to DeviantArt and I was sent here by my friend , an AMAZING artist.
Unforunately, I'm not very strong in the visual arts, but I opened this account so that I could display some of my photographs, digital blends, and mainly my poetry.

I'm slowly uploading things here so I hope you enjoy what there is already
