Howdy peeps! It's been forever.

First of all, let me list some new works I should hopefully have up soon! I've got a few watercolor pieces I've been meaning to upload, though it won't be until after next week (Finals week). I've been experimenting with the medium, and I'm really digging it. Once I have the time for some personal projects I'll prolly let fly with those. I've also got a massive costume design project with nine renderings all in watercolor due next week. I'm designing Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' with a twist: All of the main characters are dwarves. Much more fun that way. On top of that I have five foot by five foot scene painting project due. Am painting a vintage image of Puss in Boots I found online for the piece.

College for me is not a spectacular thing right now. I've been leaning farther and farther away from theatrical works. I'm not sure whether or not it's simply I'm burned out on college theater (Nearly an impossible thing, as your trying to put on shows, and do a TON of classwork all on seriously conflicting schedules!) or that my focus has truly changed. I've been very focused on puppetry and mascot work, but with my outside job, money restrictions, and classwork I've not been able to work on this at all.

More and more I'm trying to pick up on my artwork itself again. I wonder if choosing to go into theater was not the best idea. I've been leaning much more towards children's book illustration, which nearly all of my professors seem to think is a marvelous idea. I get nothing but good compliments on my classwork drawing skills, and I'm starting to feel that if I give it my all again that I could succeed at it. My love-hate relationship with my art is slowly swinging towards love... >>.....

So here's hoping for a solid return soon. I may be cleaning up my deviations soon and trying to get them better organized, and removing several that just don't make the cut for me anymore.
~~Banjo~~

I have been so swamped with personal issues, homework and game playing I just haven't been able to even get the urge to pick up a pen, much less finish a work.

I'm focused right now on getting my classwork done for a now more focused major "Costume, props, and crafts technician". Specifically in puppetry and fantasy costumes. It's going well so far, and I'm getting a lot of support from my somewhat amazed professors. Until I started that fursuit head, I had no iea I could sculpt as such, and Judith believes that with effort and time I could easily get a full ride for a masters degree in costume and puppetry work.

Most of my more traditional work has been downgraded to great doodles on not so great lined paper during class. My friends are constantly impressed, but I just haven't felt the artistic touch recently, you know? I've had a lot of emotional and personal issues arise since my failed journey to Disney and my family's financial situation isn't helping. Oh, and my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Fun times all around.

But I've been trying to get back into the flow of things recently, and at least -work- on cleaning up some of these good drawings in photoshop... too bad I can't work that program very well! Been trying to get out some fan art of Brunnstag, my dwarven hunter from WoW on here too, but am having issues producing rently...

Here's hoping I can get my stuff together here and rejoin the artistic world and my friends here on DA!

~~Banjo~~

Links

Yo Peeps, here's some stuff you should check out!

[link] My Livejournal- If there's anything going on, it'll be there!

~~Banjo Bear~~

Journal CSS and design
made by `Lilyas

Decided to go through all of them and watch who I wanted to watch; just have to delete the bookmark folder. As such the 'friends' thing on my page has been turned off until I get the chance to sort it out again.

Finally got a new laptop- the first one dell sent out was corrupted somehow, but I recieved another today. You can read all about the crazyness with the computers on my livejournal, linked below. There's plenty of ranting and blue screens of death there- I don't feel much like reiterating it all. Will be copying all my files back over today.

In other news, is anyone wanting to give World of Warcraft a shot? I collect mounts on there, and I can get an exclusive mount (And level you hella fast) if I 'recruit' you. Please drop me a note if you'd like to help out. You will have to buy the game and a small subscription, but who knows, you may love it!

~~Banjo~~

PS.

News and Ramblings

Hello all! I suppose I can let you all know of my not so triumphant return. I can back hoe from the internship after two months. Between my job sucking (They told me I'd be selling and demonstrating merchandise- most of the time I worked at stroller rental, stacking/unstacking them, or whipping them down from baby sick.), some of my roomates being crazy, being ery sick since I got there and my suddenly going into extreme depression... It wasn't for me. If you want to read more about my crazy roomates and the program, scroll down and se the link to my livejournal.

The program hardly qualifies as a internship anyway.I was operating a point of sale- there was no learning involved. I worked ridiculously crazy hours. When the ony part of the 'intership' you look forward to is you free pass into the park, that your too sick and depressed to enjoy anyway, it's probably not for you. Not to mention this lingering depression... Disney gave me emotional problems.

I'm trying to get back into drawing. it's been so long since 've felt like creating art. Being depressed doesn't help. I try to raw, then get furious when I can't get it to work. Makes me hate it. The digital pic I put up is the first thing I've succesfully drawn in 3 months really.

So yeah- besides being completely obsessed with World of Warcraft (I have two dwarf characters and a tauren) I haven't been doing much. Gonna try and get a job and reenroll for next semester at college...

News and Ramblings

Heyhoo all!

Am down in my apartment at vista Way, one of the complexes where they house all the disney College Program peeps. this is my first real day at the place- just moved in yesterday. It's pretty awesome and the place is a good size. But I'll get to that later on.

the drive down here with my mom was great, as was going to Magic kingdom for the first time with her. We managed to find the way to florida easily, especially with the TomTom. we didn't have any fear of pulling off the highway to grab a bit to eat or to spend the night. Even when we hit a major accident, and then got stuck in traffic for an hour on an overpass in Atlanta, everything went well.

The disney trip was excellent! I've never been to Disney World, and mom had only been to Disney Land. Magic kingdom, the only park we went to, was amazing. it was gorgeous, ridiculously clean, and super fun. Rode lots of rides and saw lots of things. I took video of the disney day, as well as some from the drive down- please check out my youTube! [link] It has lots of videos of it!

After that we were pooped- beyond tired. We slept in late the next morning (Sunday) and browsed through the phonebook looking for something to do. I had mentioned that they had a Medieval Times restaurant and show here- they put on a tournament with horses and nights, interwoven with a story, it's something I've wanted to do for years, but we never got around to it. so we went! It was amazing! the horseplay was great, the knights spectacular, and the swordfights violently theatrical. The best! Please check my YouTube- Medieval Times video is coming soon! [link]

The next day was check-in at the program. Scary, furn and exhausting with a whole lot of confusion thrown in. after the checkin, and the movein with a quick meet of my roomates, I went and snagged mom who'd walked back to the hotel (which was onveniently right across the street). we went out to our last dinner together, and then we went shopping for nifty things and such...

And after that, i came here. And went to bed. Today we filed out new hire paperwork, and found out where we will be working. It should be pretty cool- and I'm excited. I miss my family, boyfriend, and pets a whole lot though. And I managed to catch a cold along the way... *Le sigh* But it's gonna be awesome! And I totally have to get up at 4 in the morning tommorrow!

~~Banjo~~

Links

Yo Peeps, here's some stuff you should check out!

The FAQ [link] Everything you ever wanted to know about the Bear! Woo! I'm excited and terrified!

This last Saturday was my grandparents big 50th wedding anniversary! We were all excited and planned a huge party with lots of peeps and stuff- was going to be great. But my Mom got sick the night before, and not wanting to get them sick, did not go the next day. She was crushed, but it was for the greater good- she went to the doctor instead,w hile we drove up there, Dad, Mat and I.

About an hour after we got to the City, mom called dad while I was helping to set up. The doctor had told her she had the flu! O.O He prescribed her Tamiflu, and some for me as well, to keep me from getting it. The tamiflu's $90 a pop- so dad didn't buy any. But he got the flu two days later and is now on it anyway.

The last few days now have been a whirlwind. I was crushed I didn't get to stay at the party and had to go home; but at my grandparent sage, flu could kill them and they didn't get their shots. But to me, it was my last chance to see them before I left.

So, we've been packing like crazy, yesterday ws crazy. The last day of packing, my last day to see Matt, and my grandparents came down to give me my belated Birthday pressies. (Our ruse for their anniversary party was that it was my going away B-day!) After me and matt ate with my Grams and Papa, I came home to finish up any little things, then went back over to matts. We hung out, watched some Batman- spent time together...

Driving away from his house last night was very hard to do.

but today we leave! Hopefully, you'll all here from me in a while! It most more than likely won't be before late next week though! I'll see all you peeps later- cause I'M GOIN' TO DISNEY WORLD!!!

~~Banjo~~
PS to my DevPeeps: I have Warcraft now! *Squee* I'm Glaran on Firetree if you play...
Good heavens, much has happened since my last post here. I managed to pass all most classes, including the most gorgeous "C" in my geology class. I couldn't be happier with my 'average' grade in that science class.

Mid-January I'll be leaving for the Disney College Program; I'll be at the program until August 15th. I doubt there will be any artwork at all during that period. I won't have the ability to creatre any, much less upload it. But I will be getting a YouTube account, and will be uploading clips of my exploits on there, so everyone can take a look.

I've also entered the world of dating- I've now got myself a boyfriend of almost three months now. It's fun, and terrifieing. All in all, I love it. My only dissapointment is my leaving for seven months.

So yeah- just a quick update to let you all know I'm still about. I'm going to try to get back into the flow of commenting on artwork. I love to leave thoughts, comments and critiques; hopefully I'll be able to find the time... O.o

Okay, let me explain: The Disney College Program is a little internship with the Disney Corporation- although little is a huge understatement. For soemone in the theater industry, this is huge! Anyway, I applied a few weeks ago- hopeing for the Costume Role.

Well, on Monday I got the Letter back; they'd accepted me, but not Costuming. i'll be working merchandise. I'm going to try and change it over to costuming, because that;ll actually benefit my career more, but for now I'm thrilled. And terrified.

What this means is, I'll be putting a hold on my enrollment for next semester and going up to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida from January- ugust 2008. I'll work there, and live in a gated community with other students in the program, and take classes there. It's just such an amazing opportunity- I'll be instantly affiliated with Dinsey and all the corporations they're involved with. Plus, after I complete the program, I can take on a professional internship later.

This could really help to kick start my career- as well as working summertsock when I get back. I should have an easier time getting internships, and maybe even scholarships...

The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (The show I ASMed the last month and a half) opened on Thursday, October 25 to a sold out house.

Friday, the show sold out within six minutes of the box office opening, having to turn away at least half a theater's worth of people.

Saturday, we sold out within three minutes- and turned away more than an our theaters worth of people.

Sunday, we decided that in leiu of the phenominal support and demand for the show, that we would run both a mattinee and an evening performance, then strike the set. I was at tech ALL DAy. And it was glorious!

It was a marvelous show, and I'm extremely proud that I was able to be a part of it. I wish we'd been able to perform a second weeks run, but some of the set pieces were needed for the next production, and several of the actors and crew were cast in it. All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I'm very sad is over.

In other news, I'm nearly done with my fursuit head. I was hoping to have the entire suit done before Halloween, but it didn't happen. I just wasn't willing to do a rush job and be extremely unhappy wit the results. With how much time and effort has been put into it so far, not to mention the expense, I'm really working hard to make it a quality product.

I'll be putting photos of it up when it's completed. All that's left is to install the eyes, and make the inner mouth.

So, I got into this game called Webkinz on the internet. You buy a plushie webkin (A stuffed animal of some sort), and put the code it comes with into the internet. You then adopt that pet online, and can build it a house, buy clothing, food and furniture, take it to school and the employment agency... it's so addicting! You play games to earn money, and all the games are great! It's sorta like Neopets, but easier to manage. (The site isn't huge) The game is geared towards younger children, but it's ridiculously fun anyway!

News and Ramblings

Drove up to Oklahom City yesterday, to visit grandparents and go to Barnes and Noble. The last time I was there, I came across Pride of Baghdad [link] , a beautiully done graphic novel about four lions that escaped from a zoo during the american invasion. I love comic series', but I've never been quite as fond of the traditional 'super hero' comics- although I shall occasionally partake of some Batman! Others in my collection include The Hobbit, V for Vendetta, both League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's, the first two of R.A. Salvatore's The Legend of Drizzt, and of course, Bone. *Covets* There are also several Record of Lodoss War mangas, as well as some Rayearth and Warcraft. So pretty much not the traditional stuff. I likeses the fantasy!

So I head straight over to the graphic novel section in Barnes and Noble- and find Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 [link] . It's an absoluely beautiful series- Just gorgeous. The characters and scenes maintain a simple, old-timey look, whle still conveying the story. It's wonderful. Morth every dollar of the $27-ish I paid for it.

Unfortunately, I got out to the car and did an in depth scanning, and found a page the printer had snagged and ripped. They didn't have another copy at the Barnes and Noble we were at, so we went to the other. Alas, they didn't have it either, but they took mine and is having a new one shipped directly to my house for free! *Dances* Great customer service, there!

Has anyone here used the new Prisma Color fineline marker pens? I saw a set of black ones that come in the same sizes as my Mellenium Zig microns and was interested in getting them; but I didn't want to throw away the extra $3-4 to get them if they weren't what I was looking for.
Anyway- smack dab in the middle of 'The Last Days of Judas Iscariot' rehearsals. It's destroying my time for anything! But it's awesome, and I'm really enjoying this round of stage managing muh more than last time. I'm finally getting to work with an understanding and caring director and SM who realize I know what I'm doing. Thank gosh Roger didn't get re-hired. (Sounds horrible, but he was a jerk.)

I'm trying to just chill out about my art and just try. I'm getting really ridiculious and stressed out about it- and in all seriousness, this is supposed to be fun. What's the point if I'm not having fun? I'm just frustarted at my inability to draw more human-ish characters.

Hoping to go to the USITT Expo next year. It's gonna be awesome. I'm also going to try and get into the Disney College experience- and perhaps even a chance to go to anthro-con next year! I'm also ready to start furring my head, as soon as I have the time. Plus a goat hat, and a pirate goat plush!

*Dances* The new R.A. Salvatore book came out on Tuesday- It's great so far. He's definately one of my top favorite authors! *Runs off to read*

News and Ramblings

I don't know if I can consider myself an artist anymore. I just- don't know.

It's been months now that this 'slump' has gone on. I just haven't had any urge whatso-ever to draw half the time. When I do it ends in disaster. I can see it in my head- the picture, fully formed. But it's so far out of my league. It's lke my interests and thoughts have gone beyond my hands and pencils and pens. I simply can't create as I used to.

I used to be able to see an image and then just make it happen. Granted- I was just learning, it's not like the pictures were very complex. But now all I see are sprawling castles, intense battles and clashes of opposing armies, great space fleets with shiny metal and docking bays and flashing lasers- and I just can't do that.

I look at the work I make now and all I can think is 'this is shit.' It's all absolute shit. A child could draw the things I do. Why can't I get any farther. Is it because I don't take classes? Should I go and take classes? I just don't know. All I want to do is bring the worlds I see to life, but I can't bend my tools to my will anymore. This is so frustrating, I just want to cry.

I'm tired of trying. I get out photoshop with the intention to practice- I screw around with it for a few minutes and get so frustrated and disgusted I shut it down. I bring a sketchbook with me, and end up staringat the paper, unable to even imagine a picture. When I do, it's something so amazing and awesome that even trying to capture it seems to disgust me. All I ever manage to make now is just some character standing there. In a big white void. Or standing in the fucking forest. Or on a cliff. I want to make them doing something, but I know whatever I try to make them do won't work., The perspective will be off., The goddamn castle will look like a cartoon. Like a freakin' four year old drew it.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I know what I want to do- but I just can't do it. What am I supposed to do when my mind has advanced so far beyond my skills?

News and Ramblings

 A lot's been going on this last week or two here. Classes started back at OSU- which means I'm back to walking miles around our massive campus and struggling with all the stupid online crap. I do not understand this ridiculous need for us to suddenly put everything we possibly can online. I like doing things by hand; it's so much more reliable. Like right now, I can't get my geology notes to download...

Of curse, this being the first week back, I fell deathly ill. I've had a terrible fever all week, and am only just now today feeling better. Thanksfully I only missed a day and a half; but with a grueling schedule like mine, that's not good. I'm not great at sciences and I don't yet know how hard my geology class will be! Plus the philosphy, and compostion II.

I'm also taking acting 2 ( ) and Intro to Stage Desig; my first design class which will give me a look into costume, scenic and lighting design. There will be lots of drawing invloved, so ya'll may be getting some pictures from that...

My fursona has changed- Banjo's not full bear anymore. She's now a bear-goat hybrid. Why? Becasue I can. But seriously, I've always loved goats. Great animals, and so neat! There's such a huge variety of them, and they're all so cool! I am a capricorn, after all. I've pretty much got a bears body with cloven hooves and horns now. I'll get a picture up, or somesuch...

As for real art- I've not given up my iodea of a long running comic strip.. It's being slowly schemed up. Let me just say it'll be fntasy and will involve lawn gnomes....
My art slump is lessened slightly; I see now where I want to go, and what I want to do. Now I just have to work hard to get there. I want to draw people- non-anthros. Truth be told, I'm always so embarrassed at my dismal abilities with anything non-anthro I rarely practice. Or try. But I've wanted so long to be able to draw fairys, elves, dwarves and such things, so I think I'll start working on them a bit more. I've also realised I need to focus more on architecture and natural places- besides the simple rudimentary cliffs and trees. I need caves and castles, rolling hills and glorious cathedrals.

I feel that if I can get better at these things I'll feel much better about my art as a whole. I've been dissapointed with myself recently; I feel as if I'm stagnating. Like I'm stuck in a shallow pool when I want to be out in the ocean. So you'll probably have to bear with my horrible attempts with humans and such for a while. Sorry in advance!

As for life, I'm now working as a sales associate at Wal-Mart. It's going to be hell as this weekend, the dorms at OSU move in. I start classes on the twentieth, which is terrifying. OIY! I just want to relax and chill!
Been busy- and disheartened. I've had no urge to draw, color, or anything besides a few odd doodles, which seem only to make me angry. Don't know what the deal is. Been nuking journals and deviations; sorry guys. Arts just not with me right now. I'm also a bit depressed over a lack of comments and views on the last 2 deviations. No, I am not asking for people to go and view/comment on my work- I'm not that kind of drama hog. But I've still got to admit, it's annoying when you spend a great deal of time on something and people don't really care because it's not something freakishly popular or stunning. I'm still learning how to use the programs and such; I wish some of those crazy awesome photoshop users would lend some encouragment! Meh-maybe it's not worth it.

Been trying to get work done on my Fursuit, which is a VERY time consuming project- and my time has been sapped by taking on a job at Wal-Mart. I'm a domestics sales associate in training.

Things are looking bleak with college. It was impossible to gte a good parking permit, so now I'm ridiculously far from campus. OSU's more interested in building shit than useful things, like a parking complex. Class schedule's demanding- not even with taking a job. I'll have to get them to cut my hours. Right now I work everyday 'cept monday, tuesday, and thursday. Don't know if it'll work out. It's looking as if my life for the next few months will be eat-sleep-class-work; with little time for myself. Now I've got money, but I can't do the things I wish to do with it.
Well, my tablet came in today! (Along with the two books I ordered...) I must say, I already love it. I've been dinkering around in Photoshop elements, which came with it. I can't undertand how anyone could think that it's hard to use- I'll admit it takes some hand eye coordination, but nothing too difficult.

In other news, I've been buildinga fursuit, and it's turning out exceptionally well! I've got it mostly carved and am working on getting the fur and the rest of the costuming done. It's a partial Border Collie suit, which will be worn with kilt and shirt. It'll be awesome. If you'd like to see the progress shots (Which are put together over the past few days as a tutorial of sorts) Check out my livejournal. The link is below.

There's also a bit of a webcomic planned with some friends. With luck, this one'll pull through. Although it may be crazy hard, seeing as I'll probably be doing all the story-boarding and art...O.o

div class="textboxbg">
News and Ramblings

I'm getting a graphics tablet. I still don't think what I've just done has really sunk in yet. I ordered a Wacom Intuous3 4x5 tablet- $150? What the heck did I just do?

I'm really worried about it- I was going to get the graphire (Actually I wasn't going to get one at all...) but my Dad convinced me that the higher resolution and pressure points would be better in the long run. I'm not even sure who's paying for the darned thing, it's all a confused mess! I don't even know if I'll be any good at it. I think that's my biggest concern; that I may get this thing here and suck at computer drawing/coloring. I'm really not good enough to warrant getting a tablet! Gah! I'll just feel really, really bad if I get this expensive little toy here and can't use it.

Although I suppose it's supposed to come bundled with some photoshop and corel stuff- I'm sure it's probably a trial version of them, but hey? I guess I could see if I'm even capable of these things.... First thing I'm trying to color with it is going to be that darned kiriban. Right after I draw it...

In other less pricey news, I'm back in Stillwater. I've been trying to color- heck I've been trying to draw. I've also bee trying to finish the Catbus, but my art slump has sapped my enthusiasm as well as my patience. It's really starting to get annoying.

I'll be house sitting for four nights for one of my dad's friends- they didn't want to board their dog, and I completely understand. I'll be getting $200-ish for it, but most of that's going to the tablet, and the rest is probably going to The Muppet Show season 2 and the Dresden Files season one DVDs and then to food and such. I have such great pririties ,eh? seeing as this is all the spending money I have...

My art slump is continuing on. I can sometimes manage to draw if I'm just doodling, but whenever I set my mind to make a certain picture it ends up like crap. It's getting really frustrating. I have some gift art at home I'll be working on when I get back, as well as finishing that darned Red Fire Dragon- but I've also a kiriban that's been delayed for several months. I feel horrible about it, but everytime I try and work on the darned sketch for it... Let me just say the results are far from artful. *Le sigh* This is why I don't take art classes.
As for the plushies- I'm enjoying making them, but losing room to keep them. What am I supposed to do with them? I may be putting them up for sell- even taking some commisions as well. I'll probably open an Etsy.com account; it's a nice place to sell crafty things!
Just thought I'd kick off this journal by saying that I never recieved a reply to my final question to the help desk. With the recent changes and then failures to deal with the resulting problems (As well as ignoring competent advice some several users to fix the problems) I have lost a lot of faith in the administration of this website.

Anyway, So if you've watched the weather section on any national station in the US, you've probably seen how the plains states (Including my own Oklahoma) have been getting massive amounts of rain. People, we've been under a severe drought here for probably 5+ years. We've already gotten more rain in the last two months then we normally see all year- and we're now so saturated with it, there's nowhere for water to go. Two days ago, Payne County recieved 8 inches of heavy, severe rain in two hours. Stillwater flooded out, streets were closed (We were nearly blocked in yesterday) cars floating away. Scary rain!

But the next day was nice and clear, so mom and I went up to OK City to shop and see my grandparents. I finally managed to find the first and second books of the Dark Elf series of comics by RA Salvatore! (Snuggles them)

But when we got home, and I went to feed the cat (Whose food dish we put in the basement 'cause the border collie will eat it) I discovered that the basement had flooded the night before! *Slaps self* It hasn't done this since I was very, very little because it's been so dry. But groundwater came out of an old sump-pump hole in the basement and flooded it. Luckily it wasn't very much, considering what it's done in the past. Less than an inch of water and not everywhere, but annoying regardless. We were up till midnight cleaning the mess up downstairs and carting all the water and saturated towels back upstairs. (Don't even get me started on the darned bucket!) I'm sure one of these years, we'll have to replace the stairs down because the base is eventually going to rot out if it keeps doing this!

Gah! UPDATED: PLEASE READ!

So most of you who read my journals saw the last one- I was, and still am, very miffed over the misplacement of my 'Red Fire Dragon Plate' image in anthro, when I specifcly placed said image into the high fantasy gallery. It should be in fantasy where someone might actually view it, not anthro.

So I sent a help desk request. Now I didn't copy the original message, because I was expecting it to be a clear cut case and a relativley easy fix. But my message was of the general "DA keeps putting this in anthro, besides repeated attempts to place it into fantasy. Is this a glitch and how may I fix it, to get the image intot he proper gallery?"

This is the response I got directly copied from my in box:

Helper: $hexentanz
Date: May 30, 2007, 6:43 PM
This is not a bug, please read this message which came to your message centre as a hot topic. [link]

What the crap? Out of respect for the peeps who run this massive website I RE-READ the article; which does not IN ANY WAY address the stated problem. I may not know exactly how all the galleries now link up, but I know that something I try to place in FANTASY should not come up in ANTHRO.

Now then, here is my response to the message, which I just sent only moments ago: I read the message you've linked me too, but it still does not explain why my non-anthro image is showing up in the anthro gallery. I did not in anyway select a category that would place the image in anthro. Is there a way I can make the image appear in the fantasy gallery where it belongs?

~~Banjo Bear~~

I do not like feeling brushed off- if you go browse traditional anthro right now, you can see that there are a LOT of images that look an awful lot like fantasy to me- stuff with orcs, dragons and unicorns. There is OBVIOUSLY some sort of problem here- whether it's one user's situation or not, it needs to be addressed. I don't like mis-placed images. They clutter other galleries and often cost views. But I like being brushed off even less. I'm sure the help-desk is swamped right now because of the changes, but still. At least attempt to help.

I suppose I can only wait and see if the help-desk will prove to be more helpful.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have since recieved a reply to my reply- and I must say it's not very helpful. Do any of you understand what they are trying to say? Here is my helper's response:
Helper: $hexentanz
Date: May 31, 2007, 3:24 AM
Hello,
It does explain why this happens, the categories you see in the submission process are for the submission of your works only. It will not reflect how you browse for the piece after it is submitted. When you click on the gallery information button while having selected "Drawing & Illustration, Drawing, Fantasy, High Fantasy, Traditional Work" it does explain that your piece will be placed in the "Drawings > Traditional Media > Anthro" section for browsing.
"Anthrophomorpic art includes deviations with attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior applied to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena. Anthropomorphic artwork of any style should go here, whether it be realistic, cartoon, or anime. Please keep in mind that, by definition, humans with animal characteristics (for example, a human girl with cat ears or a cat tail) are not anthropomorhic. Such submissions should be submitted to another category."
Okay- He lost me right after "category submissions will not reflect how you browse the image." Then what the hell are they there for? I can undertsand how little things, like the fantasy sub-genre, would not affect browsing; It's all fantasy. But if I'm selecting to have my image show up in the fantasy gallery, why is it in anthro? When I browse fantasy, I want to my dragon's little thumbnail emblazoned on that page.
My helper then goes on to clarify for me the definition of anthropomorphic, which trust me I already knew. And yet I fail to see how it helps either. My image is NOT anthropomrphic- therefor it should NOT be in the anthropomorphic gallery.
So here is my response- at this point I'm just trying to undertsand what he means, as all of it seems to sliding around my problem:
So, just to clarify, does this mean that my image is also showing up in every other section that includes traditional drawings? When I browse under Drawings, Fantasy, Traditional Work I cannot find the image. My concern is that the image is not an Anthropomorphic image and should be appearing under fantasy.
Terribly sorry for being such a pain, but I simply don...
What the hell did they do to DA now? Can't they just leave it good enough alone? Gah! I keep trying to place that stupid dragon in fantasy (Of which there's four billion to choose from) and it keeps putting it in anthro. This is ridiculous- so the old category system had some problems. OH WELL. They were dealable. Do we really need to redesign EVERYTHING to fix two problem sections?
I hate it when they update sites for now reason- especially when they dont work out all the bugs first- I probably need to go re-place all my artwork within the new categories. *Growls in Frustration*
Good thing I love them to bits! Currently the next plushie I'm working on is the 'Catbus' from 'My Neighbor Totoro'. He'll be the most challenging yet.
I invited some friends over last night and we watched Pan's Labyrinth. If you haven't seen it yet, I really reccommend you do! It's an excellent, amazing movie- a great dark fantasy. Not for kids, due to language and violence. (Plus it's subtitled) But it's very good. Watch it now!
News and Ramblings
Well, it's been a while since I last updated.
All my classes are now over with for the semester- I'm enrolled and ready for the next. I managed to make a 'B' in Intro Psych, American Governement, and COLLEGE ALGEBRA; which is an extremely difficult subject for me. I was convinced I'd failed that math final... Oh, and an 'A' for Costume Technology and Voice and Movement 1, which matter the most as they're directly linked to my major. I also have a 3.5 cummulative GPA, whcih pleases me!
For mother's day I made a scrapbook of pictures of Daffy, our 16 year old cat that passed away last september. I figured it'd be a nice gift, and good way to honor the memory of one of the closest companions I've ever had. I managed to get all this stuff for it on finals week (During the few hours my mom was both at work, and I wasn't studying)- then took a little trip to my Grandparents house to actually make it.
You'd be surpised how hard scrapbooking actually is! I never imagined it would be so difficult to think out the placement of stuff on pages and make it look good. But she loved it, and we both cried for an hour after I gave it to her. We both miss our precious lady so much...
In other news, I picked up Neverwinter Nights 2, which is turning out to be a marvelous game. It's very different from the original, I really couldn't consider it comparable. I love both- although I will say the camera setup in the original was much more intelligent. I undertsnad what they were trying to achieve with it, but they didn't quite get there. It should have been worked more. But I would highly reccomend both to anyone who likes D&D, Forgotten Realms, RPGs, or fantasy.
And as for art- we'll it's, er, coming. I've been having some major art block. Even concept sketches aren't really working. I even have a Kiriban that's been waiting far too long for his image, and I just-can't-do it. Every time I try and work on it, I just get frustrtaed. I swaer, the sketch type thing I just posted (Which you should check out!) is the best I've managed to do in a while now. *Le sigh*
As for finals- they're quickly piling up. It's going to be heck over the weekend whilst I rush to get my cloak done for Costume Technologies. It wouldn't have been too much of a problem, but for my sewing machine at hme is on the fritz. The thread tension's off somewhere, an di really don't know enough about my electronic singer to fix it. I've also a theater jury to do tommorrow, at which I shall be reciting "Of the Awful Battle of the Pekes and the Pollicles" by T.S. Elliot. It'll be awesome!
News and Ramblings
 I've always loved the idea of creating a comic series. I've tried my paw at it several times, with things like the short strips of Farm , adaptions of Macbeth and hamlet, as well as a full color comic that made it to fifteen pages in 2002 you can read here: [link] (Hope you enjoy seeing how horrible I drew back then!)
But why is it so very hard to keep them going? I've come up with a marvelous idea for a strip including all of my main characters, but starting it out is so daunting. Why? i have the story, I have the idea, I have the characters- why is this so scary (For lack of a better term)? Heck I've even got ideas for a freakin' sequel!
So I figured this would be a far better challenge project for me than the 100 deviation challenge I'd thought I might attempt. I'll be trying to complete an entire (And quite sprawling) story, making the charcters designs and the place designs. It'll be quite a challenge indeed.
I'm now involved with the final rehearsal for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, for whcih i'm running the lightboard. it goes down next week, ending with a strike that sunday. Thank the gods I don't have to be in for longer than that. we're already working our final projects in Costume Technology, as well as the fact that Dead Week and finals are swiftly approaching!
Let's see, Tommorrow I go to a light hang and focus at around 6:30 ish that'll probably last until midnight. Whee! I've a work call Saturday in the Costume Shop- I'll prbably go for a frew hours, seeingas I'm a bit behind in my lab hours. And then April 12 I've got an advisor appointment to meet and figure out my enrollment business for next semester. At least my mager is declared.
In other news my muse has dried up- I noticed it was running low on water, but it hasn't rained in a while and the irrigation system has leaks. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with some new work soon that's worthy of being posted, and not just these cruddy little doodles and sketches I've been fiddling with. I just haven't the time right now to sit down and ENJOY working on anything. And unless I'm happy with the idea and feel like it's going to work, I'll lose all interest in the work. Between tests, finals that are fast approaching, dead week soon, and the next play I'm being dragged into- it could be a while. I apologize to everyone who watches me for the lack of updates.
The next is now set at 4500!
EDIT! I've recently started work on the designs for a Wowlsey Plushie. H'es the green elephant like creature who first appeared in 'Spring Market' [link] . I've been developing him as a character and have ended up with countless doodles of him- I just love his design!
I started work on the mock-up for his plushie- He's a lot more complictaed then Peppy [link] was, so I thought I ought to make a quick one just to see if he'd work. Here's some views of his head: and . He's turning out well so far!
Well, running lights at SHS went well, considering the groups we did them for were not organized in the least. It was pretty much chaos. And then during the show, they took just a tiny bit too long egtting some people lined up, and the enitre audience of college kids just 'decided it must be intermission' and got up and started milling around despite the fact the auditorium was still dark. Stupid heads.
As for the rest of my life, I'm just chillin' out here and doing homework. I've recently started a diet and it's going well. And it's an actual diet, not a prep "OMFG, I've gained teh poundz!" I need to lose the weight to be healthier and happier, so I am. So there.
There are quite a few pictures in my gallery where I keep getting that feeling- and I'm itching to try them again
Right now I'm re-working 'In The Marsh' [link] . I've always liked the idea, but I was never really happy with the resulting image. I wanted to make it more frantic, as if he was actually being attacked by a giant monster. There's so much detail misssing; the dragon looks like it's submerged in solid ground. It just irks me. I know I won't be able to get what I really want yet- but I can try again!
In other news I'm going back to my high school to run lights for a performance tonight and Wednesday; some sorority thing. A friend of mine from there called and asked me if I would do for pay and of course I said yes! I would have done it simply because he asked me. I'm nervous as usual. I don't know why, but i always am- I'm always afraid they'll ask em to do something I can't...
News and Ramblings
 So, why is everyone releasing all the DVD's I've ever wanted all at once? Is anybody else having this problem?
There were so many shows I;ve wnated for so long, but now that they're out, I can't afford them. I have managed to get my paws on the first two sets of Gargoyles, the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, The first 2 season's of Fraggle Rock, the first season of the Muppet Show, H.R.Puffinstuff (Which was a gift), ROAR and Star Trek: The Animated Series. It's taken me a LONG time to get all these too! I have to wait for the prices to drop. I finally managed to find Gummi Bears Volume One today at Hastings.
But there are so many I still want! I need Sliders, the last four seasons of Star Trek Voyager, Thundercats (Which is still at $50 for the first HALF of the first season, nearly a year and a half after it's release!), Garfield and Frinds, the rest of Batman....
I wish there was a way we could all just get the shows we want for free. Some people don't understand how nastalgic TV shows we used to watch are for people. I don't necessarily buy a show because it's an amazing show- I get them becuase I remeber them and they mean a lot to me! Meh, maybe I'm just greedy, but I heart my DVDs enough to buy ripped ones of Ebay! I'd love to have Are You Afraid of the Dark, and would gladly pay Nickelodeon if they'd officially release them- but they haven't. I'll have to buy all 125 episodes ripped. It's wrong, and illegal, but Nick is stupid for not releasing them.
After this week I'll feel so much better- hopefully. I've a ten page paper due on Thursday (Which I should be working on right now...) A shirt and packet due in Costume Tech. Friday. In fact, we're all so behind in the class we've been fudging the due dates on everything. Now, we've been informed, we'll need to double up on our next projects to get it all done. We can barely keep up with what's going on now! We get three-five demos a day and our class is abnormaly and inefficiently large. Plus witht he musical coming up.... *Le sigh*
In other news, anyone else play Battle for Middle Earth? 'Cause I really need some pointers because I'm HORRIBLE at the free scenarios! I also bought two more lawn gnomes last night, bringing my collection to seven; eight counting a little novelty gnome as well. I got one with a very tall hat, holding a lantern, and also managed to find the fourth in a set I've been after for two years. Both are from Hobby Lobby.
I've also got a new FA account. if you want the link to it, drop me a note. It's pretty much like my DA right now.
But the stage is struck and it's time to move on!
And in doing that, I shall have MORE time for ART! Yay!- Well, sort of. I still have a ten page paper due in less than two weeks I have yet to start. <img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/shakefish.gif" width="50" height="50" alt=":shakefish:" title="I'm in ur post!
But anyway, the colored version of Spring Market [link] will be uploaded this afternoon; there's only a wee bit left to color. Hopefully it's as good as I hope it is. It's my first try with Prismacolor pencils...
Anyway Dickblick art supplies [link] is amazing! I ordered a leather case for my prismacolor pencils... I have 120 of them and I thought the booklike case would be nicer to use. The websites great! It was a lot cheaper than I expected. Very nice.
ASM- Update
Well, peeps, things are somewhat improved. Ropger and I have said hardly a word- but whether that is due to the situation or the fact that I deal with him less now is open to speculation. All I know is that I hate having this hanging over ourrelationship. It may just be me that's bothered by it. But that last time I had a similar disagreement in high school, I was able to completely remove myself from the class. The teacher and I are still very good freinds, but that situation still bothers me even though it's never been mentioned.
So, thanks to everyone who offered opinions, hugs, and help on my last journal. It's ice to know there are caring peeps on here! *Bearhugs Everyone*
Anyway, Crew view is tonight- it's the first opportunity for the costume crew and the tech. crew to watch the play and get an orientation of their duties for the show. I'm excited because us two ASMs won't have to sweep and mop the entire stage everynight. We can be getting the props set while they do that and attending our other duties. It'll be nice. Especially since the cold (I hope it's a cold) that's been stalking me for the last week and a half has finally begun it's all out attack. In other words, I'm sick!
Long Angry Rant Warning- Read At Your Own Risk.
I'm tired of it. I'm tired of being pushed around, and not trusted or relied on in my role as ASM. I know that the director, Roger Smart, has never had a class with me before, I know I've never ASM'd before, I know I'm still learning (Like a god-damned student is supposed to be). He half ignores me when I try to talk to him, and whenever he has a job to do, he purposefully passes me over to give it to the other ASM, which I might say he's buddy-buddy with. i have no problem with him being friends with another person, but that does not give him the right to be a jackass to me.
AM I in the wrong here? We got our swords yesterday. They were just made, and had just been applied with liquid sodder, which needs to set up WITHOUT TOUCHING IT for at least 24 hours. There's even a big sign on the sword-rack that says please do not touch- do you know why it says do not touch my friends? 'Cause there is a high probability that it will FALL APART.
So I tell Roger we have the swords, and since I have other props business to let him know, I follow him into the cage. We poke around in there for a bit, and he sees the swords, commenting on how great they loook. I agree, and re-iterate how we should not touch them, even though there is a sign on them that states so. Roger starts touching the swords. I try and mention it again, but he just pulls a sword out and starts messing with it.
No- it didn't fall apart. But it's the fact that he's a friggin' IDIOT to be playing with something he's been told several times NOT TO TOUCH. Just because he's the director does not mean the "Danger, This Will Break" rule does not apply to him.
Well, having nothing else to do at the time, and thoroughly miffed that Roger just ignored my warning and the sign, and left to go and attend to the other business of my job. As I leave Heidi Hofer comes through on her way out. I mention that Roger is messing with the swords, which are not supposed to be touched to her, among other things- we are friends, so we were talking. Now, Heidi is a bit of a joker (And all the faculty know about it, even Roger) and she says something along the lines of "You've been bad" when Roger comes out of the cage.
My first instinct, since Roger hates me, is "Oh shit." But then I think, Heidi's joking, he can't get angry over it. Besides, he shouldn't have been touching the swords. Roger asks what she means and she tells him about playing with the sword and how I told on him. Roger then looks at me and says something ambiguous like "I'm very dissapppointed."
Oookay, what the hell does that mean? I shrugged or something, not knowing what he meant, and he said it again. By this time, since he did not look angry, I figured he was joking, as in "I'm very dissappointed in you for not stopping me from playing with the swords'. So I lightheartedly say "Well, I told you not to touch them". At which point he says "I'm not joking." and proceeds to ignore me and talk to heidi instead.
WTF?! Granted, I probably shouldn't have mentioned it to Heidi, granted she probably shoudln't have mentioned it to Roger, but granted Roger should not have gotten angry about it, especially in front of others. If he'd had a problem he should have come to seperatly and discussed it. Besides, Heidi was joking- she wasn't accusing or anything. Roger's ego just gont dented because someone called him out for being WRONG and he directed it at me. Stupid ass.
And that's not all! *Dances*
So I leave that area of the stage as soon as possible and proceed to go about with avoiding Roger at all costs. Why should I deal with him when I don't have too? Well, Lydia (One of the actors) comes around and tries to get her boots out of the quickchange room, but it's locked. So I have to go and get the keys from Roger since our stage manager was sick and not there. But he's talking to someone else, so I hang back and chill for a second.
Everyone who knows me well knows that when I'm waiting to ask someone something, I stand with an arm up at my chest and my pointer finger up in a contemplative way- for some reason if that finger's not up, I'll forget what I'm going to ask about. When the person is done talking, I point at them in a general way and then when I have their attention, ask the question. I normally don't even realize I do this anymore.
So apparently I do this at Roger, who then proceeds to ask me "What?" In the rudest possible way he can. I ask him for his keys so I can unlock the quick change room. He then, actually looking angry by now, asks me "Why were you pointing at me?". I tell him because I was trying to get his attention and didn't realize he was actually looking at me. He gives me the keys, I unlock the door, and we say not a word to each other...
I can't get my homework done, and I'm currently failing the class. The first test is on monday; in fact, it seems it's time to take a test in ALL my classes. I just got slammed.
And the worst part is I live with my parents- and I'v eseen them a total of like 15 minutes over the last week. I haven't been home at all. I get up at 5-5:30 and then scramble around all day to get everything done before I collapse into bed at 12:00. I swore to myself I wouldn't be a typical college student that way. I wanted my colleging to be a fun experience, and I'm not having any fun right now. Hell, I'm paying thousands of dollars to be run ragged and then beaten with a stick! Well, not literally, but it feels like it sometimes.
Well, in other news, scraps have been updated- I'll see about getting some colors done on Spring Market this weekend, as it's the closest to being done. Maybe a preview if nothing else...
O.o Just a quick update as I may not be on regularly for a while- at least not able to comment and respond as I usually do.
I'm now the Assistant Stage Manager for OSU's production of Julius Caesar. Really not my forte- I'm a lighting technician- but I figured I give it a shot and they asked awful nice. But it's crazy and will take all of this month and the next. ASM'ing has been something I've wanted to try for a while and this ought to be fun!
There's another 3"-1' opf snow coming. No one seems quite sure how much it's going to be, but the estimate seems to get bigger everyday. On top of the 3-4 inches of ice that are still all over the streets... It's going to be bad. In fact, I've heard tale of ANOTHER storm coming after this one! *Faints* I already managed to do some serious damage to myself by falling down the driveway- I can hardly move.
Needless to say art is going to be slow in coming. between rehearsals and classwork I'm strapped. Sorry peeps! I'll be about as much as I can though, to look at all your stuff though, so keep it coming!
Well, the storm is passed, and I'm just going to have to stop listening to the weatherman. Everything was blown way out of proportion- granted some peeps did lose power, but it wasn't the death and destruction the media sensationalism made it out to be. I just hope class is canceled tommorrow- what looks like snow is actually ice. One doesn't even leave footprints it's so thick; and it's all over. I don't even know how I'm going to get to class.
Even though it wasn'[t my birthday yet (It's on the 16th) my oparents let me open stuff early so I could mess with it over the 3 day break. One nice thing about my birthday being 2 1/2 weeks after christmas is everything is on sale! Often at ridiculous prices. Yay! I thought they'd gone overboard- but everything was really cheap. I got a tracer/lightbox, a package of watercolor pencils, a package of Prismacolor Verithin pencils, a bunch of quill pens and nibs with inks, four packages at Bristol Board, the DVD of the 2006 Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and four fantasy drawing books!
I'm beggining to believe my parents have a secret ambition for me to go to art school or somesuch...
EDIT: So far so good- well, if badly iced roads is good! The first wave of two has passed but the second, worst wave is slated to attack later today. This is the one that'll be knocking power out- and there've already been 3000 homes that lost power in the first wave. And all of Oklahoma went insane- there were fistfights over bread. Walmart (Here in Stilllwater) closed it's doors and allowed only 2 people in at a time, when 2 had left. Stores ran out of water, soup, bread, generators- everything! Seriously, I don't think it'll be that bad. If the power goes out, we're not all just going to starve to death. OIY, people!
END EDIT!
Hey all! Just wanted to let you know, there's a severe Ice Storm about to wipe Oklahoma offf the map. Were supposed to be getting 1-2 inches of ice on everything, and with the high winds, trees and powerlines will be going down. There's a very real possibility we could lose power here for an extended time- the last time this happened in 2002, there were some places that lost power for 2 months. I doubt that will happen here, since OSU's here, but it's a possibility we could be out for days or weeks if worst comes to worst.
So if I dissappear- you know why!
OMFG. Classes just started yesterday, and I've already got Algebra homework. My schedule shall eat me alive- especially with the well-known horror that is costume technology looming over me. Worl calls, trying to gte projects done on time whilst working frantically on the costumes for the next production, 2 in the morning Laundry- Man, I love theatre!
I am really looking forward to my classes- especially since I managed to get into the Voice and Movement class with the teacher I wanted, the day of the first class! BUT- and this is a big but- it will prabably eat most of my art time. I don't have any art classes, so I can't even post that stuff! But I'll try and at least keep something coming in- even if it's a sketchbook image. I generally have that with me everywhere. SO CHECK SCRAPS OCCASIONALLY!
I'm taking Voice and Movement 1, Costume Technology, College Algebra, Intro Psychology, and American Government.
A good 15 hours there, so I'm pleased. I only wish I didn't have to take the ridiculous number of acting classes I'm required to. It's really silly. I could see acting one, and maybe Movement one, but I have to take several others as well. And I'm NEVER going to be an actor; I'm told I'm good at it, and I am insane, but I hate acting! I hate getting in front of people. That's why I want to hide in the room over the audience and puch buttons on the light board. *Le sigh*
POSSIBLE CONTEST! I'm thinking of a twenty questions type thing. I'll give you a 'type' (Although not necessarily a traditional twenty questions type) and everyone on here is free to comment a question. Everyone can see the questions and answers, and the first to post the answer wins!
I'd like to get some affirmative "Yes, I'll participate!"s before I try this. I don't want to run a contest with one person asking the questions. Hardly a contest!
Yesterday, I was wandering around in Michael's and happened upon a small set with a quill pen, and a tiny bottle of ink by Speedball. It was only about five bucks, so i thought I'd get it and play with it- never used a quill before.
The Quill Dragon- [link]
My first impressions are great! I LOVE drawing with a quill pen. It's completely different from a regular pen, and wonderfully so. You can get ridiculously fine lines (I'd say finer than a .005 micron) as well as very thick ones. It just flows beatifully. If you've never tried out a quill pen, grab a set like the one I picked up- it may not be the best, but it'll give you a great idea of how they work.
Unfortunatly, the ink provided in this set is thin- very thin. It's Speedball Pigmented Acrylic Ink- it's thin, and not completely black unless you go over lines repeatedly. I think I'll definatley be picking up a nicer pen and some more nibs as well as some better inks the next time I'm out at the art store. I very much enjoyed working with it.
I've created an EzBoard community for The Chronicles of Everon- a sword and sorcery, high fantasy collaborative writing project. You take on the role of you characters, and working witht he others, write out a story.
We're just starting out and we need a few dedicated writers who'd like to help out and have a good time with us! If you like to help please stop by [link]
I'll give you a 'type' (Although not necessarily a traditional twenty questions type) and everyone on here is free to comment a question. Everyone can see the questions and answers, and the first to post the answer wins!
I'd like to get some affirmative "Yes, I'll participate!"s before I try this. I don't want to run a contest with one person asking the questions. Hardly a contest!
Well, as I said in my last post, I recieved 120 prisma colors for chirstmas. And in order to get a good chance to play with them, I drew up a VERY ambitious piece to color with them. Perhaps too ambitious in fact. I mean, it would have been hard with crayolas, and now I'm attempting it with a new medium...
Prismas are completely different from Crayolas and Prangs. They are so creamy- they don't hold a fine point; which if you were to open my box of crayolas, you'd think I had multi-colored needles in there! They are also more difficult to shade... you really need to be very precise sometimes... It'll take some getting used to.
I got 120 prisma Color Pencils (Bought at a discount) and an Ott-Lite, which is a true color lamp that doesn't have the yellowy tainted color of light regular lamps put out. It allows you to see clearly with a lcean white light, and I highly recommend one!
I painted this flat for my Stage technologies class- [link] Flats are stage walls made of a thin fram of 1"X4" and then covered with muslin. It's then sized, which means you paint a glue mixture over it to tighten the fabric, and then it is painted to look like whatever you need for a set. (Except they make them weird at OSU...)
The Chronicles is a sword and sorcery, dungeons and dragons type fantasy story. Basically you take on the role of your characters, writing out a bit of their adventures to further the story along. When everything works, its a fun and creative experiance. Please, check it out! It hasn't started yet, but if you want to write, post in the Welcome thread, at the Village Crier. We need heroes and baddies of all sorts!
I was introduced to collaborative writing a few years back and I love it. Unfortuantely, the peeps I write with have an annoying tendancy to disappear, leaving me with a partially finished tale, and a hankering for more. So I've been thinking of starting a new tale with some new peeps, perhaps through an EzBoard system.
The collaborative writing I do is almost like role playing. Each writer makes a character or two, and writes as them, making their decisions throughout the story. But it's written like a book, with each person making one post to further the story, then another continuing from that. Heres a couple of examples so you undertsand what I mean...
The first board I worked on was Vinya Laiquataure, a Tolkein based tale taking place sometime after the lord of the rings. [link] This one died after a year or two, and I succeeded in reviving it for only a few months. This is what got me hooked. If you read it, it's really rough at the beggining, but it becomes far better towards the middle and end.
The next stories are currently being written, but my partner has dissappeared, and I've been unable to contact her. [link]
Both of these are good illustartions of what I'm talking about. I'd like to start up a new semi-serious story, set in a Dungeons and Dragons type world. If anyone would like to participate, or knows someone who would, please drop me a note or let them know. I'd love to keep writing like this, but I can't do it alone!
Dead week is here, I have a massive final prject and a final test in my Technical Theater class, as well as a duet scene for acting we haven't even strated trying to learn yet, and things are a crazy run on sentence! Not to mention my huge history test... But the good news is, after the 15th, I'll be set up for the holidays and perhaps some more art might trickle in.
I'm finally starting to come up with a cohesive world for my characters. Their backstorys and lives are finally coming together well enough, they all seem like they fit now. Hopefully if the wrold will set itself up appropriately, perhaps this will reflect possitively on the art? Besides, my characters like having homes!
Heyhoo all! Just a bit of an update here. I'm seeing a bit of an end to my crazy life in a little while. I'll hopefully be getting my car back soon! That will be very helpfull! Anyway, with the end of November my time should open up a bit for a week or two until finals towards the middle and end of December.
I'm finally on the last three days of the run of "A Man for All Seasons", which is a very fun play to work. Especially when we flub lines and come out with things like "In DEFIANCE of the Seven Sacraments!" Or when cleric's corsses crumble on stage during performances. I'm not a fan of religion, but this play is hilarious... But only when you've watched as many times asI have. It's actually very serious, and if you ever get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.
Right after 'Man' is over, I'm then acting in a Freshman Showcase. I'm doing a scene from Proof with a friend. (It's required) And we have to go on third in the line-up! *Faints* I've never acted before anyone before. I'm a techie, not an actress!
But after these thinsg are completed and Thanksgiving break comes up, I'll have a bit more time to work on art and color the darned picture that have been hanging about for the longest time. So hopefully there will be a small influx of art in a week or two. Hopefully.....
November is National novel Writing month. The objective is to start november first and, by November 30th, at midnight, have written a 50,000 word (175 page) novel. It doesn't matter how good it is- it's quantity, not quality. it's simply to DO it.
I'm participating, and I started today. Late of course! I've already got 1505 words. Only 48495 to go. Given my time impariments lately, I may not finish. But it's the fun and pressure of doing it that's good.
So my time for art is tapped. Maybe I'll post what I'm turning out when I'm done?
This couldn't come at a better time, ya'll!
Heyhoo all! First off I'd like to say thanks to all my friends at DA, everyone who gives me support, comments, favs and critiques, and especially for purchasing me a subscription. I couldn't be in a better mood right now, with more drive to work and try.
Now, onto some other business, that does have to do with me feeling good about myself. I had a car wreck last thursday. It was mostly my fault; everyone did everything they were supposed to do, but it was a bad situation, and an accident happened. I'm fine, and the other woman, I believe, is alright as well.
It wasn't a bad wreck, but it certainly puts things in perspective. For those of you who've had one, it's terrifying. For the split second before the impact, I'm sure we all thought we were dead, and that's scary.
So yah. Thanks again to everyone, for listening to me rant and viewing my art. *Bearhugs all around*
I never really paid attention to how much I've improved until a while ago when I dug about in some REALLY old images. They're so strange looking, and I used to think they were amazing (For me); now I think they're crap! There's an old one of Rawnblade in my scraps file, and it's really not from all the long ago. He looks so different, better I hope. His clothing is much more realistic now, his poses are far more dynamic... he's just- better. It makes me happy!
I just think it's funny that I've improved so much in one year. I didnt think I had, but when I look at the older images, I can tell. At least I consider it an improvement. Is anyone else astounded at the depth of their new work when compared to their old?
I gotta say, it's ncie to know there's been some improvment in the last years... Thank you deviantART!
This is alot. I'll literaly be spending the next four weeks evenings and late nights at a theater somewhere, on top of homework and studying for my next history test.
So yeah. I've finally decided it was aout time I try and do some annual holiday images, and of course I'm delayed. The Halloween image that's ready to be colored will not, more than likely, by out by Halloween....
But here's so things to look for!
Legends of Rathvarna- if you remember the work in progress, yep it's still a WIP. I've just started coloring it.
The Debut of the Tree Fiend- The Halloween image, and the debut of a new unnamed character.
Imperial Sun Dragon- a very detailed dragon that's just been inked.
Escape- This ones a bit old, but I'm nearly finished with the coloring. Pheonix!
Stormforge image- This is going to be very complicated and difficult and I've A LOT of reference images to dig up. Mainly pictures of a blacksmith shop, and I need to figure exactly whet the 'date' is so I can find the correct brittish buildings for the era... And there will be at least three, probably four, characters in this one.
Ferule Sketch- I'' try and put out an image of a new character. Ferule, the minor hellhound. He's cute and... evil!
Well great. We'd notcied the cat having some bathroom problems, and we figured it was just the stress of adjusting and would go away in it's own time. A normal thing. But since it hasn't let up, we took her to the vet today.
She has a critter infection in her interstines. It's highly contagious, which means that every cat in the playroom at the shelter, and possibly in the entire facility itself, has this. It's not particularly dangerous, unless untreated for a long while. But that's not the problem.
We have to give her two teaspoons of EXTREMELY bad tasting medicine EVERDAY for THREE WEEKS. And when I say give her, I mean force down her throat, while she wrapped in a towel so she can't shred us to pieces with her claws. And on top of that, the litter box must be changed everyday so she doesn't pick it back up. Then, after three weeks, we must take her back and a 'sample' and if she's not over it by then, we must give her another three weeks worth of treatment!
This is a big commitment. But the real concern is that she's only known us for a week. She's going to HATE us. Wee had a dog we had to give eyedrops to for a few weeks, and after that she'd flinch everytime you reached toward her. They remeber. They know. I do not want a cat that will hate us.
But the real killer here is that they didn't tell us she was sick when we got her. Hell, I doubt they know, which is very frustrating. It cost $50 when we got her and cost $98 today at the vet, and we haven't even had her declawed yet. We have a two week grace period where we can take her back for a $45 refund, one week of which is already used up. If we get done with this treatment and then discover this cat hates us and won't get over it, what do we do? We can't just take her back.
We're most more than likely going to return her. I hate to do it, she's a great little cat. She has the perfect manners, she learns quickly, doesn't bother the dog at all, or us when we eat. The list goes on and on. But the chance that she'll hate us? I think not. I'd rather have her have a chance at a home where she'll like her family instead of us all being miserable. *Le sigh*
I know not what to do.
