Eventually I realised that I was depressed in the Winter.

Now I'm off to Ireland for a couple of days, then to Poland, on business.

Considering selling my camera (Canon 400D) and buying the new 450D, just to stay current really.  The alternative might be a deposit on the canon 28-300mm L-series lens.  My photos are starting to earn money, mostly based on the adverts on my Web site but also as stock and in other ways.

What's interesting to me about this is that "pageviews" are a totally artificial statistic.  They don't reflect at all the number of people looking at your images, only the people looking at your "General" page.  And they say nothing about the quality of your art.

There are people with much better work than mine who have fewer pageviews, and people whose work I have a hard time appreciating but with many more pageviews.

1. Anyone can enter up to six pieces.  You can replace or retract any or all submissions up until the closing date.

2. I (Liam) will have the right to display any and all entries on my own Web site.  However, I will give you credit, and you retain ownership of the work, so you could make prints, have it on your own DA account or whatever. I just want to make sure I can display the entries.  I do not ask to be able to make derivative works.

3. Competition starts on 4th May, 2004, and ends on 9th July 2004.

4. There are two categories.

I have decided I will run the competition if I can find a way to promote it, and if there are more than a dozen entrants will make the prizes a little bigger.  Possibilities include 256M of RAM, a pair of argyle socks, a one-year DA subscription, a print account, a National Trust or English Heritage membership, or maybe a $50 Amazon certificate.  I'll be more precise on Luke Skywalker Day when the competition starts.

There would be two categories - (1) the most sensual picture (in any medium or style) of or incorporating feet or ankles :-) and (2) most creative use of any of the royalty-free images from my collection at http://www.holoweb.net/~liam/pictures/oldbooks/

(for category (2) let me know if you want higher resolution versions or the original scans, e.g. if you want to be able to make a print, and I'll see if I can get them to you).

Spent several hours today when I should have been working, trying to make a picture.  It didn't come out at all as I wanted, but it's enough of a start I decided to post it anyway.  I want to make art that says something emotional or spiritual, but this attempt wasn't subtle enough.
