Another pet peeve = taking a raw image, converting it to black and white (all while probably ignoring simple tone and contrast edits) and picking out one item and making it in color. Wtf people. We can have a discussion about this if you want. But seriously, grow a pair and take some time and EFFORT with your images.
I'm not saying my photography is the best ever, not even close. What I am saying is, I know I try hard, and if you look through my body of work, you see progress. I learn from every photo shoot I do and I work hard to further my skill.

All that said, scraps are for WIPs and other fun trinkets that may not be a final piece. Your gallery is for FINISHED pieces. Not 80 raw shots from a shoot that you didn't even LOOK at after you snapped the photo.

I have so much left to do... and so little time... then everyone goes back to their hometowns for the summer. Except for half of my hometown friends who are working far away. LAME.
But some things lately are quite exciting:
I won 1st place (in the student section) for an art show for Around the Corner: [link]
I am working with 3 other students to create a large inflatable sculpture. There will be pictures and they will be sweet.
Plans for this summer include LOTS of movie making with silly historical themes.
The weather is nice again... which means biking and running and walking and sitting in the sun instead of going to crappy history classes.

I've thrown myself into a new style... painting on photoshop. I can't say I totally know what I'm doing yet... but the final products are looking pretty decent.
I am on a 2 1/2 week break from school right now, and I am quite sure that although I brought my tablet home... I left the pen for it at school! I live pretty close to school, but they shut down over break, so I would have to shell out 25 bucks to get it.
Being a broke-ish college student, I must now sigh loudly, "OH WELL".
Catnapfairy is allowing me to borrow hers for a few days though. I will be working nonstop with the tablet at this point.

I think I'd like to crank out a few good digitally painted pieces and possibly work on selling stuff. I still don't know how to go about doing that.

And then I look at photographs done by people in the business and it's like "Well, Come on, I could do way better than that!"
Not everyone's work of course. I do have my photography idols, past and present-day... but still. I came across some pictures today taken of a local band, and it's like "wow, is that ALL you did? you put them in a some-what interesting pose in a very uninteresting background and presented the raw and nearly un-edited photo as a final piece meant for them to promote." The guy gets paid to do that?
Okay, i KNOW i can do better than that. I just need to seek out some opportunities. Senior pictures anyone...?
Band pictures anyone...?
I need a game plan.
Because I will be jobless in less than 2 weeks,
and I want to continue with this. I know I can do it.

I'm editing (instead of replacing) this, about 2 weeks later, because I'd like to keep my motivational speech.
I move into dorm life tomorrow. I'm not sure how long it'll be before I set up the computer again... shouldnt be too bad considering its just a laptop though.
Hopefully I will have lots of pictures of orientation to share..
I am bringing my manual SLR as well, provided my brother doesnt need it for photo class right away. But I guess if he needs it I am cool with that, because little brother following in my artsy footsteps is cool.
But he should really get his own because I know he will like it. A LOT.
I should really go pack some clothes or something.

Anywho, I havent really taken any pictures lately; I need to get on that. I think I would like to try my hand at some fashion photography perhaps? I think it would be cool to orchestrate something like that, for the fun of it. Something quirky, and theme-ish maybe? Like in Teen Vogue, when you see people wearing stuff that you know they never could in public even if they are the slimmest kids ever and they have their hair all cute and everything is just so fashion.. and vogue! haha even if it is silly. I kind of like the fun element to it... it's not all serious, and matchy-matchy... its about fun.

Hopefully I'll have something great uploaded soon. I need a new memory card as well; that might slow the process...

I feel like I have all the tools I need now, (minus an extra memory card... but still) so I just need to get it all together. 63 days left of summer!

Tonight I must find a theme.
I don't want to pick something boring and spend my whole semester taking photos of trees and then wishing I had done something beyond aestheticism.
The tentative theme will be dreams.
I plan to "re-enact" dreams that my friends re-tell to me. If you have a good dream, write it down when you wake up, then tell me about it. Let me know if you think it has any meaning, or why you think it played out the way it did. I'm not trying to dig for the hidden meaning in every dream through this, because I don't believe there is one. I think it will be more of an observation of these things, and then a commentary on how they are so openly interpretable, and how the dream's "owner" interprets them to mean possibly what they want. Like I said, a tentative thesis and theme.... but I think it could be very interesting. Note me if you want to share!

EDIT: well, i just went ahead with the theme of dreams. i think, based so far on the statement i wrote for class and the first shoot i had today, that this theme will be a good choice. im excited to get the photos developed and posted, because i hope it will show a bit of a different dimension to my photography. we'll see, this is so exciting haha!
