Finally getting around to posting pictures of my costume. Check them out!

Some basic info about the costume:

Body: Is made of Fake Fur from Mendels (the dark brown/green long fur) and some suede upholstery fabric (brown and tan). Most is hand sewn, except the big panels on the legs and shirt.

Clothes: Upholstery fabric with bead trim and some banner fabric for the belt. Three layers of skirt.

Feet: UGLY shoes from Payless, with plaster wrap hooves. The hooves are reinforced with epoxy putty, and sealed with Mod Podge. The feathering is on the legs and Velcro-ed to the feet.

Hands: Paper Clay nails, sealed with Mod Podge. I made the gloves. NOT fun.

Head: The antlers are real deer antlers. They are bolted to a leather strap reinforced with foam and more leather. The strap was boiled to make it hard, and the foam and second piece of leather is to keep the screws from digging into my skull. Its held on kinda like a hard hat. The mane is sew/glued to the leather and sewn into shape. The beads are on strings and sewn into the mane. I hope to post some videos of the costume as they make a lovely chimeing sound.

Mask: Hand tooled leather. Painted with leather dye and some acrylic.

Feel free to ask any questions..

Firstly, I might be selling off some of my older sculpts. Right now, they are in boxes and collecting dust. They need some repair and updating, before I put them up for sale though. Note me if there is a sculpt in my gallery of interest and I can let you know the price (if its for sale) and the turn around time to make it nice. (Note: many of the sculpts are commissions or gifts, and I (of course) will/can not sell them.) I'll post a list or something at some point to show what's available.

Second, I got a neat water color sketch book and want to try and do at least a sketch a day. The 100+ sketches bit is a bit daunting, and the book is only 15 pages. Rattle off your favorite WoW beasties.

Lastly, I've still got that scabby itch to make another chess-set. Probably simpler (fewer unique pieces) and originally themed. (the current lead is Fantasy Creatures) This is something I would like to use to learn to cast with, as well as sell (free of guilt). Any suggestions for themes?

Sometimes, I feel my opinions alienate me from the art community.
hn.

Anyway.

There is a lot of noise going around about the "Orphaned works act" or whatever. I'm keeping my feet out of that bucket till something a little more solid than speculation and old news comes out of it. Looking into it, and will make some voice if I feel it's called for.

So. There is so much noise about Big Business descending upon and devouring the huddled masses of artists. Not so sure about that. Not there there is no need for worry. I am pretty against the concept of big business, but it strikes me as so strange where people chose to draw lines.

All the pitchforks and torches over &#039rotecting their art and characters' makes me wonder how people justify fanart/fanfiction. (In the context of non cannon plots/situations/relationships/etc. Not just homage/tribute works)Not on the side of 'fair use' or whatever but on the side of using the creation of someone else to their own ends. Maybe its one of those stick it to the man things. The copyright owning company whoever, won't care/notice/do anything, so it's okay. All those characters are the brain child of someone, though. They aren't spit out by mindless computers. But anyone with a 'face' in the community (not some corporate name) who does the same thing, gets burned to the ground. Interesting.

And. So many people are so very &#039rotect my stuff' and thats all well and good. But. How many people download music with out buying the album? How many people download movies? And the one that has interested me for a while, how many people on this site OWN the software they use?

Just more breath.
