I didn't get as much pictures as I hoped, I mostly sat on my fat ass on the lovely beaches they got there. And snorkled. And stuffed myself with food. It was quite nice.

I planned on putting out some pictures here, but that has to wait a while, I think. I have two weeks of work to catch up to, and we're moving to a new apartment next Thursday. My spider senses tell me that I might be quite busy.

On Saturday night something wonderful happened. In Europe, we have this dreadawful thing called "The Eurovision Song Contest", where each year all the European countries send the worst singers they can find to this contest to compete. The weird thing is that it is extremely popular, and millions and millions of people are watching the same crap every year.

This year, however, Finland did something unexpected. The sent Lordi to the contest. For those of you who don't know who they are, they're a hard rock band dressed as monsters. Something like a retarded mix of Slipknot, Kiss and Gwar. And they won. With the highest score ever in the competition. The presenters, the other contestants and the audience were all dumbfounded. It was so funny!

What this means is that the European people, sharing my contempt for this contest, all came together and voted for this band, perhaps with the help of this site.

Oh, wondrous, wondrous thing. I have never been so proud of my Finnish roots.

Btw, I just got back from vacation. I've got some wedding pictures and some other miscellaneous stuff that I will submit this weekend. But first I have to answer all the deviant messages and comments I have received the last two weeks. Kitty pictures are popular...

We went out today again to =m4g1c4's friend's Norweigan Forest Cats (or rather kittens) to take pictures, and to make up for last month's catastrophe, where I more or less got no good pictures. I hadn't photographed in a while as well, so I was pretty excited.

But it went to hell again. I hate that I twice were so close to incredible cuteness and I didn't manage to capture any of it. Damn that dark apartment and stupid Swedish cloudy weather!

1. I am a molecular biologist.

2. Both my parents are from Finland, but I was born in Sweden and I have never learned to speak finnish.

3. I like viruses. They are cool. I'm fascinated over how something that ridicously small could be so incredibly smart.

4. I live together with =m4g1c4.

5. I don't like spiders and heights.

6. I'm a graduate student in clinical virology at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. I'm working with the resistance development of the HIV-1 virus to antiretroviral drugs.

7. I hope that one day I will gain access to an electron microscope. Just imagine what amazing macro pictures I could take...

8. Me and =m4g1c4 own an amazing apartment in central Stockholm which doesn't exist. At least not yet, since it hasn't been built yet. We get to move in 19 Jan 2007.

9. I have played drums since age 13, but right now my drums are down in the basement due to a shortage of both time and band.

10. I have been president of the graduate students union at Karolinska Institutet.

11. I liked death metal when I was in my teens. I had long hair then as well. And was fat. I looked stupid.

12. I have about 20 microbe plushies, such as ebola, yersinia pestis (the plague), HIV and more. They're adorable!

13. I have shared a student apartment with a gay opera singer in Muncie, Indiana. We also shared kitchen and bathroom with the bible twins. They disliked me and one of them thought I was satan.

14. I used to run a community for people who code their web stuff using notepad. It was called "the Notepad Association", and I had a couple of hundred members. I closed it down six months ago after not updating it for about two years.

15. I have had corrective eye surgery.

16. My interest in photography was sparked about two years ago, and it's getting more interesting every day.

17. I sometimes work extra as a graphics and/or web designer.

18. I'm currently taking my driver's licence.

19. I never dance. I have never really understood the point. I don't really like dance music either.

20. I am an amazing procrastinator.

Looking back at the 1800+ pictures I took on that trip, I wish that a) I had brought a better camera, and b) that I had been a better photographer back then.

I'll try to go out and take some new photographs soon, especially since I have a sparkling new (or actually used, but new for me) nikon 20-200 lens to try out. In the mean time, I'll try to put out some old crap. We'll see what I find in my image archives...
