So, first things first, if you haven't noticed I've been screencapping my web design assignments and posting them for the lulz. Well, apparently it's good enough that the teacher thinks I'd be an ace at some web design competition. As long as it's not some huge spectated event like a LAN gaming tournament minus the LAN gaming, I might give it a shot if I have the time.

That might not be an issue though. See, if I don't get my Government grade up (and it's currently sitting at, like, a 46%) from an F to a D before next week I can't wrestle. If I can't wrestle, I'm off the team. And to make matters worse, my Government teacher isn't accepting missing work after midnight tonight, about... nine and a half hours from this very moment. (approx. 2:30 Pacific time) Which means I probably won't have much time for my friends and games and crap tonight. Yay.

As for wrestling, it's doing good. The new coach lineup throws me (the 4-year vet, all 4 years with the head coach that retired at the end of last season) for a loop from time to time, especially since the aforementioned former head coach came back yesterday to replace an assistant JV coach that had family issues to attend to. Confused yet?

Now for what I said before: today's hydration test day. In other words, we drink water (and nothing else) allllllll day and then pee in a cup around three. It was easy earlier, but I stopped drinking water a few minutes ago because it is HELL in my gallbladder right now. And according to the clock, I have to hold it in for at least another half hour. Yaaaaaay.

Oh yeah. Apparently the shirts had a little design change (the headgear in the design looked like a jock strap when they rendered it on the computer, lawl) so they should be in today or tomorrow. Even if I get kicked off the team for grades I am SO buying that shirt.

So yeah, now that I don't have much else to say, Imma go play some Survival Lab.

FIRST QUARTER'S OVER.

Good thing first quarter grades don't count though, lawl. I'm failing Government sooooooooo bad. ...Oh shit, note to self: get the email out to the other 3 about the demographics. (I reread this shit after I post it, lol). So yeah, we're doing this poll of people in the greater Reno-Sparks area, and since I'm not exactly a people person, I get to sit back and make fancy shit once everyone else gets the data. Yay me.

So also, this is where things get funny. Saturday afternoon I was cramming for Trig (since the class's homework and quizzes are on MathXL and until now were being due in chapter-size lumps) and my parents went to take the dogs for a walk. So awhile later my mom comes in and sits down holding one hand, and a moment later I notice two of the fingers are all bent outta shape. My dad comes in and after I get her an ice pack he says she fell and might have dislocated her fingers.

Turns out, she broke her hand in FIVE PLACES. I mean, what the hell. I'm the wrestler of the family, and I have yet to get a really serious wrestling injury. Mom goes to walk the dogs and breaks her freakin' hand. Whatever's out there really has a messed up sense of humor.

FYI, she's going in for surgery tomorrow afternoon.

Speaking of wrestling, it kinda sucks that I missed all of practice last week, since today was killer. Oh, and tryouts are gonna be on Saturday the 14th. This is in part for those who care, and in part so I (hopefully) don't forget.

SPEAKING OF DATES (see what I did there), I submitted the senior sweatshirt design to one of the two teachers in charge of it, and there's gonna be a meeting on Wednesday to choose which one to use. If it's mine, expect a FAWKload of pix to populate my devART in no time. They even let me sign it (There's a little "ZJD" thing under the hood ftw). And if the the wrestling shirt comes out (and I ever get the original design back) there'll be pix of those, too.

Oh, and when I got home, I quickly realized a few things as the dogs ran up to greet me and my mom like always.

Number one? The dogs like pawing at your legs when you come home, because they hope you'll pick them up (I assume).

My voice is hoarse now.

5 years ago, I heard Slow Motion on the radio. That has got to be the sexiest beat in existence. I kinda forgot about it till the middle of summer, and two weeks ago I FOUND THE SONG. Omfg. This completes the hunt for the top 3 songs of my 12-year-old life (even before I got into rock ): Lean Back, Boom! It's On, and of course, Slow Motion.

Oh yeah, and Cake + Samurai Champloo = Awesome.


In other news, Coach Oliver's letting me design this year's wrestling shirt. Maybe if it makes it to the finish I'll get some pix up, if not then I'll post the concepts. I also worked out a design for the senior sweatshirts too; same display rules apply.

For starters, I made a slideshow of my artz for a church talent show, which happened yesterday. You can watch the vid at [link] although in the finished version I used different music. Apparently in a song about selflessness and giving, "rub your hips" is too sexual for church. Go figure. But yeah, that thing won me 25 BUCKS BITCHEEEEEEES!! Which puts my total Me funds at.......... $25.03. S'alright though, I won the Creative category, and my little brother (who did this Not The News skit about shit around church) won the $100 grand prize. As much as I hate to admit it, he deserved it, it was funny as hell. And to think when he signed up he was just gonna dance. Badly.

Senior year sux. D: I knew it was gonna be hard, but srsly? It's bad enough I haven't taken anything resembling Physics since middle school, but my teacher could bore an esteemed physicist if they heard him lecture. The funny part is I got caught for drawing in his class, even though I was listening (somewhat) to the lecture. He failed to notice (or at least discipline) the 5 or 6 people sound asleep nearby.

At least I'm taking web design this year. It's apparently gonna involve some basic HTML, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop. I couldn't help but grin when I heard about the last one. Only problem is my wrestling coach is aiding that class. QQ

Assassin's Creed is effing AMAZING. Just a few days before the end of summer my dad switched out the video card on our desktop computer (which he said he'd do at the start of summer- still no news on the PayPal account), so I finally got to play the two PC games I couldn't play on the desktop (phail video card) or my laptop (intel video card = designed for "office use" = EPIC PHAIL), Mercenaries 2 and Assassin's Creed. Ho. Lee. SHIT. The graphics and mechanics in that game are insane. It's kinda tough (especially after you kill someone and have to run like a bat outta hell to find a hiding spot) but definitely a fun game. Running across rooftops wasn't even this fun in the Spiderman game I used to have (although web-swinging was- maybe altair should have done something like that?).

Oh yeah, I also got MadWorld (MOST. FUN. EVER.) and Call of Duty: World At War for the Wii. Besides some aiming problems with the Wiimote, CoD is a ton of fun, although once I got stuck on the part after Roebuck bites it several times I was like "screw that" and went to multiplayer. Given that my last experience with the Wii's wifi consisted of a lag-infested match on DBZ BT3 that got cut off when it tried to end, I was pretty skeptical, but it actually works really well. Except for the dogs. The first game I played included a really good player on our team, so I was running around with a tommy gun when all of a sudden these German Shepherds run past and I'm like "WHOASHIT- wait... cooool...". Every other game I knew them as the Dobermans of death. It's bad enough that I don't work well with large dogs IRL (and that's putting it lightly), but seriously, nothing is scarier than sniping and all of a sudden hearing these dogs, and you come out of the scope just as one jumps you. I shat bricks repeatedly whenever they were played.

This song "Break Ya Neck" is strangely awesome. I think I'm starting to discover a deep love of ridiculously fast rap. The beat sounds all oriental and martial-artsy, and Busta kills ever verse. In other news, yesterday I was at a friend's funeral reception (he died earlier this week, he was only a couple weeks older than me too) and I found out from someone I know at church that I could take all my drawings and shit up after hours to her office and have them scanned, put on a flash drive and sent home with me. This means..... NO MORE CRAPPY QUALITY WEBCAM UPLOADS!!!

...For now. Also, it means I'll be able to get the rest of my stuff up like I had said I was gonna do before summer started. Sooooo... yeah. It gets a lot different after i change drawing utensils due to lack of resources, trust me on that.

Also, my parents keep thinking I'm being used to make all this stuff for sites and staffing and whatever, failing to realize that I enjoy doing it, so my dad's going to help me set up a PayPal account soon. Which means I'll enjoy this stuff even more.

It also means I can set up my best stuff as prints and offer commissions!



Of course, I'd need to get a scanner of my own for commissions... >_>

There's this Lion's Den wrestling thing starting today till like mid-June that I'm part of. Apparently there's some tournament at the end. Which just means I get to gorge myself of tourney food afterwards. Ahh, wrestling tournaments- buffets of the sporting world, amirite?

Well, there's a catch; in ROTC today we played football and that one lame-ass 4-square game. Needless to say, I went with football. I wouldn't wanna own the shit outta the 4-square group too easily, y'know.

Which kind of pisses me off since I was getting so psyched for it for awhile now. I've been drawing logos and shit in my free time (which I'll upload if I ever find a working scanner) for months now so this is kind of a major buzzkill.

I also want to learn how the hell people like and manage to make their linearts so awesome and clean, as opposed to my own style that looks like a blind dude with a shaky hand tried to do a straight line.

There's this internship thing starting up in my area for the gifted kids (and ones with AP classes, both of which I qualify for), and the lasy that comes to Hug knows a graphic artist in the area that wants an intern. FTW.

Unfortunately, she was just canceled, because apparently she's too "traditional". Meaning in style, not pen-and-paper traditional like it is on dA.

Honestly, all i see singles albums as are ways to make more money. It's pointless, it's brainless, and people go nuts for them. I don't get it. Are people really so lazy that they can't skip to "Duality" on their Slipknot CD, or are they too lazy to rewind it themselves just to listen to the same exact song over and over and over?

I understand the concept (or at least I think I do): People like a certain song, you release the song in a singles album and get all the other crap out of the way. In concept it makes a tiny, slim shred of sense. I would prefer, however, that there was more to the album. I don't want to have 2 CD's for the same song in the first place; if I'm gonna go against what I've always believed there had better be a good reason for it.

And besides, the least they could do is stick the music video on there too. Since in most cases, songs popular enough for singles should be popular enough for music videos. The two tend to go hand in hand after all. Let it be known that I do not own the "Duality" single in the example above so I don't know if the video is included or not, but it doesn't really matter since I had both to begin with. xD

Other than that, summer is the best season of them all imo. Most are already known to you, but let me explain the significance of the bloody noses.
Both my dad and i get spontaneous (not kidding) bloody noses in warm/hot weather. I still haven't figured out why. for now i blame genetics.
There have been times where i'm walking from room to room and i have to make a detour to the closest source of kleenex because lake red couldn't hold it in anymore.

Alarm clocks are the spawn of the devil. I'm not even joking.

Those things are horrific. They must be specially designed to make you get up in the morning, already looking for someone to stab in the face with a plastic spoon. And make it sink in. I can't stand those things.

I understand that they are made so you can get up early, or on time or whatever, but seriously, at least for me, it's pointless. When mine goes off I get up, trudge over to the thing, smash its face in, and go back to sleep for an hour until my mom's ready to take me to school.

No school = No alarm clock. Another reason I love summer. =]

Okay, you know how just the mentioning of death metal typically conjures up images of baby-eating, puppy-kicking Satan-worshiping dudes that get high before every gig or something like that? While some of that may be true (we've all kicked a puppy right? and yes, accidents don't count), there's something that goes far beyond that, between all bands of death metal (in my opinion): there is an incredible synergy in their works. Take for example, the bands Cannibal Corpse ([link]) and Grime ([link]). Cannibal Corpse is an American death metal band (which means they eat Republican babies only- kidding, kidding!), and Grime is Swedish. Now, if you got an American and a Swedish country group together and had 'em play, the guitar may sound the same, the drums may sound the same, but the lyrics- the lyrics would most likely be the thing that made the two so far apart.

Death metal will (hopefully) never have that problem. Here's the reason- there's no singing in true, pure ass-kicking death metal. Death metal singer who try to actually sing in those types of bands might have an excellent sining voice true but here's the catch: Nobody wants to hear it. What they want to hear is these guy doing just what they do best- Making their ears bleed so much that it shorts out their headphones. Linkin Park won't do that. Bullet for my Valentine? A little closer. Deicide? NOW you're talking. I can feel my eardrums shattering already.

Death metal singers don't "sing", per se. They scream. They growl. They make their internal organs fly out of their mouths, do a triple backflip, and then wedge themselves back in with an old, rusty pipe. And it sounds motherf**king awesome, too. That sort of singing is the only thing that goes well enough with the machinegun drumbeats and screeching guitars of death metal. While melodic death metal is certainly an impressive art (how many people do you know that can do the above scream/bowel movement effects and also make it relatively easy for the listener to catch the lyrics too? Skill, my friend. Skill.), the true power of this genre of bone-shattering, gut-wrenching rock n' roll on steroids lies in the synergy, the fact that since there is virtually no true singing whatsoever ties every death metal band, no matter what their nationality, into a huge network of such monstrous evil that even the most die-hard sadists would truly question whether or not there really is something in their closet after all.

All that, and it sounds sweet as f**k, too.

Now, the way I see it, my usual "schedule" typically consists of the following entries:

6am: wake up
7am: get up
7 05am: go to school w/ mom (unfortunately for me, my mom works in the library of the school i go to. no kidding. ;()
7 30am:get to school. computer time!
either 8am (normal class schedule) or 8 40am (block day schedule, half the classes, longer periods): time for class. draw and occasionally write notes *gasp*
11 15am (normal) or 12 35pm (block): lunch aka comp. time
2 55pm: end of school day. time for track.
4 30pm:get home, get online
2am:bedtime

I don't see anything wrong with that, do you? xD

No kidding. V-Jay-Jay. Have you noticed this kind of thing at school or at work or places like that. This kind of thing is just another of those mindfreaks (yes, good ol' censorship at work...). You just hear that kind of thing, turn around and go "Wha....?!"

I love this kind of thing. Not saying it, per se, but just hearing someone else say it and when continue with their conversation as if they didn't even notice they spoke in some other language or something for a second there. It's beautiful. It's fun. It's a breath of fresh air to those of us that are already insane (and I KNOW I can speak for everybody, as you'd have to be at least partially insane to read this far into the rantings on a Dew'd up 16-year-old with wondering why your head hasn't exploded yet. Yes, I feel your pain.), and it makes life a bit nicer, and a bit less of an unbearable hellhole that you wake to every day and gratefully escape from every night the moment you fall asleep.

I'm not hating on Japanese rock bands or anything (or at least I'm definitely not trying to), but seriously, most songs I've heard (Might I mention that most of the ones sung in Japanese that I've consist mainly of Anime? Just checking.) never get into that level of head-banging goodness. And did you know, iTunes' Death Metal Essentials describe death metal as a "Suffocating nightmare in sound". Listen to the last part of the song where they essentially (< unintentional funny there) and look me in the eye (right here -> (@) ...that'll work >.< and tell me iTunes is wrong.

anyways, i felt like talking about wrestling today/tonight (whatever).
on friday, the sierra league zone (aka regional) tournament is being held at hug (my school) the second time running. now, even i have to admit, that's a hell of an honor, and it probably means we did last year's tournament pretty damn well, right? now, i have no problems with the tournament itself, don't get me wrong. it's the practices this week that are what're killing me.

just to give you an idea, here's the schedule (sort of, it changes a bit each practice):

15 mins- jogging around main ring, stretch out

15-20 mins- minute drills, aka hell in a timer. here's how it works: one of the coaches (usually coach lippia) sets a timer to around 15, 20, sometimes 25 minutes. we get around the ring in a circle, sorta jogging in place, sorta bouncing around. coach herman (the head coach) goes around to each wrestler and asks him/her (yes, there's one girl on the team) 'what they want', the usual being: 10-10 (10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups) to 20-20 (same things, different amount); burpees (10 to 15); leapers (10 each leg); crunches (50 minimum); bicycles (10 each leg minimum); helicopters (5 each leg minimum); 6 inches (wherein you lie on the ground, hands behind your head, and lift your feet (together & fully stretched out) up to different intervals: 6 inches off the ground, a 45 degree angle, a 90 degree angle, and legs spread apart @ six inches position); diamond pushups; wide pushups; etc.
sometimes coach herman even tells us what we're doing, too, so you never really know what you're going to be doing.

10-15 mins- running laps (from one end of the mat to the other & back is one lap, they usually take around 5-7 secs each) usually around ten laps, going down by one unless everyone makes it in time, then going down by 2 until there's just one left. usually i'm actually first or second in the lightweights, the other guy as fast as me is solomon, the 119 pounder

5-8 mins- pummel drill/spin drill (pummel drill= both partners are trying to force their arms inside the other's arms to get a throw/takedown; spin drill= one man on bottom; other one on top, spinning on the bottom man's back and thrusting arms in for ankle picks/crossfaces/whatever)

30 mins-1 hour- drilling takedowns, top/bottom moves, certain techniques, etc.

20-30 mins- more running, minute drills, etc.

10 mins- live wrestling, in 2 minute intervals

and the cycle continues until a good 2 hours + after we started. honestly, i'm not saying i hate wrestling or anything, i'm just saying that, in my opinion, the practices are too harsh. however, i know by now not to voice said opinion (at least, not in front of any teammates/coaches) because zone is coming up ridiculously quickly, and so i've got to give it everything i've got until after i'm done with zone. that's all.

god, my leg is freaking killing me. did you know there's a new way to do a switch (bottom-position move) that involves someone at least 33 pounds heavier than you slamming their bony-as-hell elbow into your shoulder when they should be trapping your leg? news to me. (god, i can still feel it, the guy did it several times before i told him to stop if he valued his life, despite me being extremely lighter than him)

anyways, i just thought of something else. have you ever looked at a word, thought, "oh, it's ---", and then looked back at the same word again, only to find it feeling strangely alien? it's kind of hard to describe, but it happened to me recently. i was writing a paper on gang violence or something, and i typed the word "fight". now, right then it was all fine and dandy, sure, but i go back to read through my paper before i print it, and i go, "'fight'... fi-guh-t..? fih-gut...? fy...guh-hut...?" it just seemed like i was reading some other language. i live for those kinds of moments. it's like life is saying, "wake the F*** UP!!!!!" or something, 'cause god knows i go through life at least half asleep most of the time.
