No, not really new, a year old in fact, now. But either way, you will all have noticed (hopefully you have anyway) that I haven't posted anything on here now for...*checks*...over a year. That is because I relocated to :devlacklavaprints: for confusing purposes. Either way, if you watch me here, and don't watch me there, do it already! I have 75 pieces up on there at the moment, and I'm going away to Bristol again soon, which means, tadaa, more pictures!! So 2 and a half weeks from now, pictures will start flooding there! If it helps, however, I think I may add a few of my self portraits from *blacklavaPRINTS to here - as I do not make my self portraits available as prints.

Everything else on *blacklavaPRINTS, however, are available as prints!!

I even have a subbie on there!! And a premium print account! Which means I can put on sales! And there is a really nice frosty journal! AND THERE WILL BE CLANGERS THERE IN 4 WEEKS!!

Also, 'The Black Magician Trilogy' - excellent. Honestly, it replaced the Lord of the Rings as my favourite fantasy trilogy.

OK so I have a new project, a big one, and I need help.
I know a relatively large amount when it comes to lingerie, burlesque and the like, but I wanna know what you guys know. Absolutely anything you know, be it historical fact, or simply what you regard as lingerie and what isn't to you. Things like what it is used for (obviously erotica, burlesque, illusion and that I already have) - don't anyone dare say sex because that is not what I am going for.
I appreciate guy's opinions too, of course. Any helpful stuff you guys give me will be included and you will get mentioned in the sources page under either your real name or another persona, whichever you prefer.
When my project is completed, or near completion, or has gotten comfortably underway, or whatever, it will be notified on my new deviantart (address will be announced once something is on it).

Contest Description
'This news article has been written to look at the effect musical instruments has on art, and at the same time, the way art sees these instruments. Looking at their reputation and the shape of the instruments, rather than the music they produce, I have come across many pieces that show physical and emotional form of the instruments, and their impact.'

Specifications:

Any media, including literature (but only if it is kept short), make up etc.

I don't want to just see photographs of violins or cellos here. If photograph is used I want to see creativity.

And creativity goes to all of you.

Competition closes on the 29th September

Winners will be announced in my journal on 1st October

The reason for having 2 accounts:
*blacklavaPRINTS was created, of course, before the new Portfolio came about. Blacklavaprints was my portfolio and my print store. I uploaded everything onto this account, and my best onto *blacklavaPRINTS along with prints. A way to upload everything, and then seperate the best from the rest.

The reason for leaving this account:
Now there is the Portfolio ([link]). This is essentially what *blacklavaPRINTS was for in the beginning, but, having kind of forgotten what I was doing on blacklavaprints, I ended up uploading the same things on this account the *blacklavaPRINTS. This second account also ended up with subscriptions and a premium print account.
*blacklavaPRINTS has nowhere near as many watchers or viewers or fans as this account does, which is clearly a problem being that I want to be selling prints, and it has a lot less rubbish on it than this one does, so, having a portfolio now, I am deleting every photograph on here that is already on *blacklavaPRINTS.

I have also made the mistake of submitting most of them already so I unfortunatly don't have very many to submit over any course of time. I find it very difficult to photograph anything in Hastings, it drains a lot of inspiration, and any time anyone gives me any suggestions, they're all the same, and every time I try I fail at them. Nevermind, I might get lucky!

We had a great time away. We never went anywahere necessarily amazing, but it was great to me because I was with my parents. My mum seems a lot better these days, she's happier and laughs more, now my sister and I are living elsewhere, and things seem easier now she has a wheelchair and stairlift. My dad also told me it was the best Father's Day he'd ever had, which made me very happy.

I wanna run a contest in a few weeks on *blacklavaPRINTS (photography only - photomanipulation will apply, provided no stock was used, but rules will be posted soon enough). I will be looking for a couple of judges, hopefully some who will be able to help advertise the contest and donate the odd prize, to join me and help ease the (very hopefully) high pressure of judging the contest.
I should be able to stretch to a couple of 3 month subscriptions and an 11x14 framed print from my own gallery, but that would be it, since I have no luck of getting a job any time soon. Features go without saying, of course.

I'm taking on the Album Challenge. After very little success on ~metalbunofice's attempt at Unexpect's 'In A Flesh Aquarium', I have decided to go with a simpler band for my photography. Putting the pencils away, I've decided on Placebo's album, 'Meds' for this media. I've been practising my photoshop effects, and, limited though they are, I may be able to apply some to a couple of pictures. And if not me, then Alfie can have a go at failing as well. I'm really looking forward to it! Hopefully I will also get a few good photos to make a CSS out of - though I will need someone skilled at photoshop and CSS scripting to make it for me. Sadly I am unable to offer anything other than gratitude for whoever does that favour for me, but my search for that won't begin for 2 more weeks.

I will be working on a couple of Black and White pictures along side these couple of lightly photoshopped pieces, and I thank everyone who gave me suggestions for new photographs, though few of them will be accomplishable with my (very) limited resources. And Gary, as for your offer to help me with a few layers and effects, if I can get the right photos I may have to take you up on the offer

And Sally I will try at some watery pieces, I really wish I could guarantee it because I love water pieces, but I can merely see what I can do.

~FaeryPortal is my new project - I am constructing small Faery doors made from Polymer clay and painted in acrylic paints. So far I have made one Faery Door, and I have plenty more on the way. I have yet to upload any images, however, as my camera is being rubbish again, but as soon as I get new batteries and a good picture, I will begin uploading my work.

They will be available to sell to residents of the UK within a few weeks, though not all of them at once. I will take commissions in a month or so. I am still working out prices, though I expect, for residents of the UK, individual doors will cost between Â£5 to Â£10, with an added fee of about Â£2 for postage, and an additional Â£1 per extra door. I will update this journal when doors become available.

The PC broke (again) but it's ok, because we have it fixed now! It's back with a new hard drive and everything - unfortunately, this means that all my photographs and writing has been lost on our PC and is not possible to get it back. Most of the photos on this account, in that case, will be unavailable as prints on *blacklavaPRINTS due to having lost the copies without watermarks.
HOWEVER, I posted what I believe to be my best photos, and I have a few pictures on my camera to upload and tidy up. As soon as I get my editing program back I will be back to posting! So look forward to that.

I finally got a job too. About a week ago I started work in Waterstones. It didn't take me long to hate the job. I'm a temp, so it's not a permanent thing, but I hated it because I had no friends. I'm not whining, I'm just saying, obviously because I haven't been in Hastings longer now than 5 months, I haven't got many friends, and I knew no one that worked there, but thankfully I have been partnered up with a rather smashing young lass there and I feel a lot more comfortable because of it. The pay's not bad, but I keep seeing books that I want.

Christmas is just around the corner, and I hope to get some special Christmas pictures up in time for the celebrations. There is of course my favourite christmas picture from last year, 'All That Glitters', and it is available as Christmas cards here. A bit pricey, but I have not raised it. In fact I intend to lower it within the first week of December specially for Christmas - don't let me down now!

Anyway, it's good to be back, and expect to see more of me around now!

I SAW MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE ON FRIDAY NIGHT!!!!! My first gig and it was fucking awesome. London Roundhouse it was, the Northern line on the London Underground is really confusing though...but woo they played Issues and Mastermind <3 and On It and Lights Out are even fucking better live!! Our first gig, fucking awesome, the bass felt like it was in my chest, it shook everything,. and it was just fucking awesome!! I LOVED IT!!!! We're gonna go to another MSI gig later in the year or next year, whenever they're in Brighton/London next

So I've been packing a lot lately, getting ready to shove off to my boyfriend's. I can't wait, but I think I've packed a lot. I'm usually a light packer, and I'm letting myself off this time, y'know, since I'm like moving in rather than going to stay. I've been making a lot of cakes, tried my hand at a whimsical topsy turvey cake on the weekend but it failed - well, no, I say it failed, it was my second go, and I got the cake itself right, it was just when I went to put the fondant on it that it went wrong. It was a trial run for my boyfriend's youngest brother's birthday cake, and we've decided that instead of fondant we're going to use buttercream. It'll go up on ~Cakeums when it's completed - if it's good enough, anyway. I'm muuuch more experienced with buttercream than fondant so I have more faith in it.

I've been posting a lot of pictures lately, although in my "unsubmitted" folder on my PC, there are only about 3 more photos to put up, and I'm relatively out of ideas. I want to move away from using myself in them, because I'm fed up with the number of ones I've been in lately, but unfortunately, I don't have any other ideas. I took a couple of pictures of one of my dogs yesterday, and 2 of them don't look bad, they just look a bit plain. I will submit them because they're good quality and I like them, but there's not really much to them, so if you don't like them, I'll understand.

Once I've left Bristol, I intend to take my photography to different sides. I want to try landscape and animal photography. However, I mean animals like stray or wild, and, obviously, the best I can do there is going to a zoo. I don't like that, but I'm going to give it a go. I'm not going to just see a snow leopard casually strolling around outside a shopping centre, am I? So yes, I will be making a trip to London Zoo, and I really want to go to Bristol Zoo while I'm still here but I neither really have the money, the time or the transportation to get there

still, London Zoo will be good. I'm also intending to go to the Natural History Museum soon and see if I can get any good photos of dinosaur bones. I hope I can, I love dinosaurs, and it would just be so different in my gallery. I'll give it a shot, eh? This will all probably take place some time within the next 6 months, so it's not exactly next week, so don't expect them any time soon. As for the landscape ones, I'll have access to the seafront and countryside very easily, so I think that won't work out too badly. I'm not too fond of skyscapes at all, so I'll probably avoid those, but if I do post some I'm either desperate, or I like them. They'll get deleted from my gallery within a month after though.

I've been debating setting up a print account. My problem is, I want to keep uploading images with watermarks - don't worry, I have 2 versions of all of my pictures, one version has no watermark and the other does which are the ones you see - but I don't want the print to have them. I don't know if you can submit the view for the print with no watermark and have a second file on the same submission for the print itself that doesn't get seen by anyone but the printers or what. I want to get a premium print account as well, but not until I've decided whether or not I want to do this and have thoroughly checked it all out. I think, though, because I have to send all this stuff to another PC, I'm only going to keep the watermark-free ones of HALF of my photos, as in the better quality ones, and the ones that look best that I think would sell. In this case, if there are any photos you'd like to see as a print, click on the "request as print" clicky thingy on all those images, and that way I'll know which would be best to keep as prints and which wouldn't. I think my earliest ones will be the ones to go, being that I was a) inexperienced, b) had a bad quality camera, and c) they are low resolution. SO.
I've been working on a news article since about the 20th or something, probably going to be posted around the 3rd or 5th or something, I don't know yet. It's about the lack of variety in bakeries and the decline in traditional sweetshops and its impact upon artists - namely those among us on deviantart. I've had a few threads running in the thumbs forum, but I still have more collecting to do. I'm going to make news features a monthly thing, and they will be accompanied with an article. I already know what the next article is going to be about! It ties into a photo I recently did, but I'm delaying putting it up because I (personally) think it is awesome. I'm trying to submit better stuff now, because looking back through my gallery, I realise I've been posting absolute shite. In fact, this morning, I made an effort to clean up my submissions. I have gotten rid of about 20 odd deviations, and changed the "featured" option in my gallery (I only just realised I could do it, but I never look in my gallery...and I guess it shows!). So yes, nice and clean.

I've finished all of my exams now, I think I did ok in Film studies, all right in English, Geography went better than I thought and don't even talk to me about Art. Results come out on the 14th August but due to my location changing it'll take a little bit longer to receive them. Great =/ But, since I've finished my exams, I'll just pick and choose days to go in for my last 5 weeks. I want to keep going to English and Film, in Art I have my own crappy project on the go, but it keeps me busy, as for geography...hahaha...yeah right, we'll see though I suppose.

Anyway, I have also been baking a lot lately! Scary stuff, Kim in the kitchen, but I need to get my practise up. I've stupidly taken it upon myself to make Alfie's littlest brother's birthday cake, his birthday being 4 days after I move in. So for the next 6 weeks there will be many cakes around the house. I am trying to master buttercream, and I think I got it! Mix it up then put it in the fridge for about half an hour. It was so much easier to use then! Also I have to figure out colouring fondant, since I don't have access to pre-coloured fondant at this point due to lack of money, but I have discovered Cake Craft Shop and I love it, it has (almost) everything I need! So yes there is a happy Kim about. I'm just working a lot more now to earn more money so I can buy cake tins and the like for the cake(s) I have/want to make.

But yeah, also, there might not be much from me photograhy-wise for a little while, I want to get back up to speed with some good stuff instead of the rubbish I've been sticking up here for a while. So as a final thing, I apologise to all my watchers and other DeviantArtists for my spamming of utter balls.

As from July the 5th this year, I will no longer reside in my hometown in the Western Country, but will move on to the seaside town of Hastings. Woo! Everything is in walking distance. However, this means probably less activity on deviantART, sadly, but I will get on as much as I can. Also my photography skills may disintergrate due to lack of practice and I will not be posting the same sort of photos. I love these ones, but I simply won't have the access to what I do now. I'll be attempting landscape (I say that now) and the like and probably not so many things based indoors, so I will be pretty inactive with postings around the winter, however I will space them out like I do now.
However, I may get to work with my boyfriend on making some film-type things, and I'll be getting back into drawing and painting a lot more (see ~metalbunofice account), so that's good. Basically, I post what I post when I post it. I will still take notice of the people I watch, and of just generally searching up things like cakes and such (going through a cupcake/muffin phaze at the moment). However, not having access to the things I'm used to will probably help me develope my skills in using smaller and limited resources, in theory. So I guess it all turns out how it turns out.

Exams start today, too. Well, I had my AS Art Exam on the 29th April and that went...well that one was my fault and a conscious decision. I have Film Studies today, English on Friday, Geography on Tuesday and English on Wednesday. Woo.

In other news, St Valentine's Day is coming up. I promise you I'm in a better mood about it this year, as I am going to be staying with him again just after Valentine's Day, and we're having our own Valentine's Day on the 18th. I get there on the 16th, but I'd rather have it on the 18th so that everything's a bit more settled down, and so that we'll be able to go places that day. Everything'll be shut on the Sunday, and I believe he has plans for us for the Saturday already. I have a present for him, spent absolutely ages on it, but I'm pretty sure he'll love it. He knows how much time went into it. But yeah, I'm muuuch better about Valentine's Day this year, last year I was a total grouch because I didn't get to see him

but I do this year

so it's all good! I'm so happy ^^

However, on a school note, I am a bit pissed tbh. My grades for last term haven't changed since the ones from the term before. My minimum accepted grades are C for everything, and in English and Geography I got C for the first term then the term just gone, and I was hoping for a B in English at least, then in Film Studies I got an A then another, that's fine, but then in art I got D and then another one. I'm a tad fucked off at that to be honest, but I really don't like art in sixth form, just because I still can't do what I want to do, I still have to do what the board wants, and would probably get a bad grade for something contraversial or something like that, I don't know, so I have to relate to other artists rather than do what I want to which is just pissing annoying. But I'm doing my best, probably dropping it at the end of the year anyway because of the amount of work, I want a good grade in the other subjects as well you see xD and if I get a bad grade in it I'll never pick up a paintbrush or a pencil again

So I'm leaving it on a good note. I hope.

Introduction
I'm a developing photographer with lack of proper equiptment xD I just stick with my crappy digital camera until I can afford proper stuff. I live in the South Gloucestershire area, South West England. I have few (for the moment, 2 infact) models and so far I'm happy with them. I'm inexperienced so I just go with the flow rather than try and mess about with the, I suppose, natural element. I tend to use the scenery of my city centre and local fields as the area in which I work.

It seems lately there's a lot more conceptual than any other artwork going on, although I'm not complaining because I'm 95% happy with each picture I've presented to you here. The 5% is the lack of a decent camera so, at the moment, it's at 95%. That's good enough isn't it?

Commercial Photography
I've recently decided that I should maybe branch out and take a risk, and try a little bit of commercial (although I have my limitations there) photography to help me along in some sort of direction. What I mean by this is working with little-known companies who specialize in, for example, make up, hair falls, clothing etc, and using their products in a picture here and there with a model so that I can swerve around to glamour and fashion as I was planning, but also get the company some credit and help them along their way too. Support from both sides. However, I cannot travel. So if there are any little-known companies who would like my services, they must be willing to travel down here, to Bristol. The model used will most likely be one who I have yet to work with, due to lack of free schedules and a decent camera, or the company could bring someone along theirselves.

I will expect to make some money from this, as a girl has to make a decent, honest living, however the prices will be negotiated with the companies prior to the photoshoots taking place, and I will expect a deposit of 25% before the shoot also. I'm not expecting to make thousands and thousands because that's just stupid, I'm nowhere near experienced enough. All I can offer as a portfolio is what is in my gallery on my Flickr page,, and my deviantART gallery, here. They all have more or less the same photos, although this deviantART page is updated first, more frequently, and has a scraps gallery, so I suggest this is your best option.
If you are interested in using me and my camera as your commercial photographer, drop a line here in a note and I'll get back to you.

Partnering Up
I am also up for working with other photographers on shoots - this really just means a bit of fun; teaming with another photographer or model, going out somewhere and taking pictures, essentially. Again, drop me a note if you are interested.

Even his parents got me some stuff, it was lovely ^^ went out to the old town, saw The Golden Compass (frankly overrated) and cuddled. Getting on the train to come home is the hardest thing in the world.

In other news, it is my 17th birthday on Wednesday

WOO I won't get many presents, but, if I'm not working that day, then I'll have 2 free lessons in the middle of the day that day to mess about at school with my friends

so I hope I'm not working...but if I am, so what? I don't really care.

I didn't get many photographs from Hastings, sadly, but I guessed that'd happen, I got too caught up, as usual, with him

and his family and stuff, but I'm not complaining, it was the best Christmas ever

Annoyingly, I feel very inspired for photographs, and very motivated, but the lighting is too bad at the moment everywhere to get anything done, and anything I could do I've already done

and I don't want to kill it already. Thankfully, though, it's not just inspiration or motivation on photography, but also on writing. I've almost finished the plan for my new book and have just begun writing it, with a poetic prologue. Wish me luck!

BOOK REVIEW

I just got a sudden idea which I quite like the thought of. Book Reviews. I will now, every time I post a journal on both here and ~metalbunofice, include a book review on a recent book I have completed. And if I haven't finished a book, the past review will stay until it is replaced with the new one.

I will begin now.

BOOK: On Chesil Beach
AUTHOR: Ian McEwan
REVIEW:
On Chesil Beach explores the feelings of two newly-weds on their wedding night - Flourence and Edward - and how differently their minds work. At only 166 pages, there is not much of a story to it, and spends more time looking at Edward's history than anything else, however relevant it is, but it explores these feelings in depth and talks of the subject of sex in a sophisticated manner, instead of the immature sleazy way you might think of when you see the word "c*ck" in a book.
Ian McEwan (Atonement, Enduring Love) is a fantastic, intelligent, educated writer, and always manages to surprise the reader in one way or another. On Chesil Beach's ending twists, devestatingly, as the couple appeared perfect, when music tastes were over looked, and shows Edward's reflection on the night and how one word could have changed 60 years of his life, most likely for the better.
I highly suggest this book as a good read, as, although it is slightly boring at points, there isn't much of it, and it demonstrates McEwan's style of writing, of every detail usually over-looked, and somehow making it interesting by doing so, rather than over detailed and dull. So pick it up and have a look. If you don't like it, you don't like it, and if you do, take a look at his other, larger-known works, and appreciate his talent.

This is an Olympus FE-210/X-775, 7mp with macro/super macro, which is much better than my God-knows-what-brand God-knows-what-model, 3mp, no macro. Lots of playing to do!

I went out to Oldbury Court today to do some land art for my Natural Form final piece in AS Level art. I didn't stick with any of my designs I was going to do, and made it all up as I went along. Unfortunately I only had tacky batteries on hand so the camera died soon after I finished my first piece, but it managed to find enough power to allow me to take a few more photographs, enabling me to make two more pieces of land art before giving up and going home cold, muddy and wet. Autumn is cold, but it is the best time of year to work with leaves. I made two pieces out of leaves and another out of rocks. Few photographs came out well, but, as I said, there's a lot of playing about to do, so I may go back and give it another go soon.

Off the subject of art, but I'm really chuffed about it, I bought my first formal dress yesterday so that I could go to the Christmas banquet

It's like, my first proper dress since I was like 7. It's two in one really, the bottom one is a...well, it's not white, it struck me as either pink or purple, but it's so pale and so close to white that arguments could arise over the actual colour, and it has small black dots all over it, and it falls to knee-length, even on me; then the second dress is all black net with a tie-up back and a sort of rouched tail thing. It's so cute, and I didn't have loads of money, so I got it for Â£12 at TK-Maxx xD but it's better than nothing and now I can go to the banquet ^^ I also bought a little evening bag to go with it

get me! The banquet's on the 14th December, and pictures will be taken. I'll post them on here either in my scraps, or in ~metalbunofice's scraps with links. But yeah, I am so chuffed with it. Not what I expected of myself at all, but I also tried on a long black slim dress with little silver bits and I was torn between the two, but my sister told me to get that one which I was unsure about, but now, I'm glad I bought that one. I've had to put it away though because otherwise I'll keep trying it on and I'll break it xD it's delicate! But so nice

Yeah, I might post some of my land art photos on here. I have to choose my best one and get a friend to print it off A1 sized o_O One of the photos I really like, I might get it printed onto canvas. The photo's reasonably good quality too

I haven't been sleeping well, if at all, lately; been reading a lot more; I have been putting more effort into the ~metalbunofice account (paintings and drawings) and I am working on coming up with the money for a new camera, so I see no point in pursuing any of my recent ideas until I get this new camera. And yes, this means I do have ideas, not like they haven't been done before though since I lack the excessive creativity some named between the asterixesisy below embody. But yeah, some ideas so keep an eye out in a month or so ^^

Also, I've been figuring out the print system. I don't think I'll use deviantART's print service, although it'd probably be better quality, but I want to try it on my own first. This'll be a few months away, but I'll be selling prints of my photographs for a small price in the UK and eventually overseas. I'll create a journal about that closer the time.

EDIT: It has come to my attention (although it took a while) that my photos are being used without my permission or any credit to me elsewhere. It is for this reason that I have had to watermark each photo I put up on the internet. Not only here on deviantART, but also on Flickr and Myspace. It pains me to do it. However, when the prints come out, they will be printed without any watermarkings.
