So, I was just reading through all my past journals, and doing that brought up a few experiences I'd forgotten about, namely my exchanges with a certain artist. This person, Endo Areon, otherwise known as Endo74, has to be the biggest douchebag I've ever met on this site and possibly in my life, considering how he handled things that happened. I'm also 95% sure is a rip-off artist; he's deleted his whole gallery more times than I can count for no apparent reason, and his art style and skills change with every picture/show no consistency at all, and so I'm fairly sure his whole DeviantArt experience is based on stealing/ripping off other people's pictures, presenting as his own, and being and arrogant prick about it. I encourage everyone to boycott this person and/or report them to DeviantArt authorities if they see a plagiarized picture. If anybody thinks I'm a dick for writing this, I guess I can understand because it is a bit haughty/arrogant of me to say it, but reading through that experience and how blatantly strange it was just roused a lot of ire in me, and since I don't think this person is legit, I felt the need to post this up. Apologies to anybody I've offended with my ranting.

This continues the story that I wrote about in the submission of the piece " What NOT to do on DevArt." Basically, I colored a guy's lineart and wanted to put it up, guy ended up being an asshole about it, and here's why I think he is an asshole.

At the beginning of this process, I asked him what kind of base colors he was thinking of for the piece. He replied:

"From : GERBOX1@aol.com
Fiend...
Here r some of my thoughts on the color scheme:
-dude (yes gloves)
dark red armour / or olive green ( stripe on dudes nose should stand out -bright color)
-girl
she should look like a memory (monochromatic)-warm or cool
-I like color surprises:
(a grey/ brown painting w/spots of glowing intense accents...orange, torquise, lime)
think pseudo movie poster.....ie. black background....with them poping out..."

So, I colored his piece with those base colors and showed them to him and he said:

"From : "Endo Areon" <enndo74@hotmail.com>
To : picturefiend@hotmail.com

good job ..can't wait to see the finishes..."

I later sent him a working version to see what his thoughts were. I told him:

"From: "Marcus Aurelius" < picturefiend@hotmail.com>
To: enndo74@hotmail.com
Subject: Re: colors....

Alright, here's where I am right now. I still have to finish up the leg, bag, dagger, the woman, and the background. That sounds like a lot, but actually that's the easy part. The gun was pretty hard, and I had to edit the lineart a bit to adjust the perspective so the lighting looks right, but I think it works well now. What do you think?"

He replied:

"From : "Endo Areon" <enndo74@hotmail.com>

I can barely see it ...too dark.... "

As I wrote in the description of the piece, I thought this was a pretty lame form of critique. He could've at least commented on more. Maybe he was insulted by the fact that I had to change his lineart because it was wrong? In any case, I decided to make the gun a bit more distinct, and so I sent him another working version. He responded:

"From : "Endo Areon" <enndo74@hotmail.com>
To : picturefiend@hotmail.com
Subject : Re: colors....
Date : Fri, 14 Nov 2003 16:16:43 -0500

It's nicely colored...why didn't you finish it..? I am currently working with 2 colorists....I need to see finished pieces...half done mean what? I'm supposed to guess what your finish piece looks like...?"

I thought this was even more lame. Obviously, it's a working version, so that's why it isn't finished! And WTF is up with his comments about "I'm working with two colorists..."? I'm not applying for a freaking job, I'm coloring your damn lineart because I like it! I don't really feel I have to prove myself to him. Then again, he does say "It's nicely colored..." This will become important.

I then finished coloring it, and told him I was going to put the picture up on my site and that he could put it up on his if he wanted. Still, I did wait for him to respond to me before putting the picture up, otherwise you would have seen it here yesterday at 3PM.

Then he got anal and arrogant and basically told me he didn't want me putting it up. True, maybe I should have asked for final permission, but first off, I was excited because I thought the piece turned out really well, so I wrote the e-mail very hastily, and second, since he already gave me permission to color it, sent me his lineart, and said he liked the coloring up to that point, I figured he wouldn't have a problem with me putting it on his site. Since he was being an asshole about it for no particular reason, I wrote him a rather angry email back commenting on his reaction and telling him that since I made major adjustments to the piece with his permission, I also get a partial copyright of the piece, so it's not completely his art anymore.

Following that, he replied to me with a whole string of insults which make no sense in light of previous things he'd said. He also felt secure enough in his excellence to say that "you are nowhere close to professional" and that he didn't want to put up the picture because of "the ugly color choices you've made." Oh gee. I didn't realize you hated your own sense of color so badly. His wh...

Maybe my stuff is just really boring? Maybe I just actually suck? Or am I just getting lost in a flood of generally subpar deviations from newbies? Good new art on this site is getting awfully difficult to find. Whatever the reason, if I don't get any decent amount of hits on my new art and not just the one picture I colored of somebody else's anime lineart, I think I'll stop submitting here. It's tiring to do work that you really like and then have nobody look at it. I don't understand why people just seem to want to see "dark" art all the time, or the same old generic anime copies and fanart. That's not to say that there aren't some fantastic artists working in devart's indy art section, but by and large it seems to be the other group.
Maybe this isn't quite the forum for such a remark, but I have to say that this war with Iraq is complete bullshit... Anybody with an ounce of sense realizes that the main objective for the US in invading Iraq is just to gain control of their oil supplies so that the Bush administration can attempt to restore the economy they destroyed with their ridiculous budget policies in an attempt to make it look like their policies make some kind of sense. I agree that Saddam is a dick, obviously guilty of major infractions against human rights (Then again, the US army did want to be immune from the International War Crimes Tribunal... hmm), and needs to be removed from power. But I don't agree that the way to do that is by invading a country and killing thousands of people for your own personal gain while simultaneously destroying world diplomacy. That and the subtle media movement in this country to stir up hatred against Arabs by only emphasizing the actions of the minority which vehemently support Islamic extremism is becoming rather sickening. Saddam needs to be removed from power. This is not the way to do it. End of story.

Since people seemed to like the Tekkaman-inspired picture, I thought I'd draw some more Tekkaman-related images! So, look for some black and white stuff to pop up soon.
