I went hiking with some buddies the other day. We came across a cold crystal clear creek (crik) from the winter run off. It was a hot day and the water was sweet on my parched tounge.

My friends, having not spent much time in the back country, would not drink the water. Being fearful of bacteria or some water bourne disease. Instead, they were tired from thirst for the rest of the hike and drive back to town, whereupon they bought pop to slake their thirst.

That just makes me want to cry.

The rumor around here says that Spring walked into the valley the other day and broke Winters back, at least that's what Squirrel says. The geese on the river assure me that Winter still has a bit of fight left in him, after all he is one mean killer when he wants to be. All in all though everyone seems to agree that the new grass is starting to grow underneath all that winter snow and it won't be too long before we welcome Spring (an easy house guest) into our homes. Thank Goodness she is more than welcome.

This time of year, here in Boise, the clouds just hang over the valley and very little sunlight gets through. The snow starts to melt off a bit, just enough for everything to turn yet another shade of gray. I start getting cabin fever, it makes me feel a bit edgy and groggy all at the same time. Believe me I've been asking God to change this weather around (I figure it can't hurt to ask) but all I'm getting back is a chuckle, and a chuckle is enough to get me through yet another gray day.
